As promised, and you don't have to take these maps if you don't want em, but I have quickly generated one (Climate and Relief). Part of a continent can be used to keep things localized as well:

Which is why I made a quick map example... let me know if this works... I can try and find a way to create a more basic political map, but unfortunately my software only does climate and topographic maps

Can you try making one that is more mainland based?

That is mainland... It's actually a worldview... poles are at the top and bottom. I had to make it small to fit on the forum, so each piece of land is one gigantic continent.

Map 2 & 3 are Worldview too. I think even though we're supposed to have just a contident map, worldview makes everything look cooler.

This would make things A LOT easier.

And scale too. If we measured each block by a certain number of Miles (Or KM if you're not in the USA) and we could calculate times!
