OOC:What's the chances that in the massive bombing of Maitea, the Techan base was hit? Don't want to say it was automatically hit, but there's probably a good chance it was

Techis City

The protesters outside the government buildings had tripled, nearly a sea of people and signs. The police had to intervene several times because the sheer numbers were blocking multiple roads and halting many of the city's routine activities. They were a symbol for everyone's frustration. The Council was nearly split in half on the issue:
"We promised we'd help Maitrea with Snowball, and now we squabble here as they fight alone. What happens if Cedoria assists our enemies next?"

"The Head, not the government, promised to find snowball, and no one believes we need to conquer another nation to do it!"

Weeks of debating, and the decision is still on the edge, just waiting for a strong enough nudge to push it the right way...

However, a bill was passed that would allow the purchase of supplies in vast quantities, though adding that they can be allowed to be bought on credit is still being debated. Supply lines have already opened up to Maitea, mostly convoys of civilian supply trucks supplemented by a few Tracer-7 Mobile AA Vehicles. Supply deals with Cedoria is still waiting for their answer

"Chancellor, I have bad news!"
"What is it?"
"The jets have been shot down."
"Send a letter to their families. We're going to have to cyber attack now."
"Yes sir. I will notify the hacking squad immediately."
"Good. If we cannot attack them in our world, we can attack them in the digital world."

The hacking squadron has begun hacking enemy servers. The objective is to gather information and bring morale down.

They've come up with a quickly designed plan titled "Not silent but deadly", which goes as follows.
1. With as much support as possible, spray toxic gases over Cedorian defenses while keeping the planes that spray heavily protected in the process.
2. While the defenses are busy supplying themselves with the equipment to fight off the gas, send in as much as possible from each direction, leaving at the least one side loosely defended.
3. Fool the support by sending a lot of planes in the east and west sides of the country, making them think we're doing a split-up attack, and while they use everything they have on these two sides, we charge in from north or south, depending on which one is the least defended.
4. By the time the enemy has gotten used to the gas and are pretty much immune, we've already made a foothold.
5. Send extra troops to the foothold areas, and once everything's done, abandon east and west and begin the northern/and or southern charges.

This plan is started immediately and troops are on their way, for this is Maitea's last resort.
We either gain the upper hand in this battle, or lay in ash.

Skies over Maitea
"Comrade Leader, there are a group of unidentified Maitean planes currently vectoring towards our PRA comrades positions along the border, escorted by fighter jets, vector to intercept and shoot down as many as you can"
"Roger Tower, but wouldn't it be better to continue escorting the bombers of the second wave?"
"This take precedence Comrade, we don't know what's in those plans, but it certainly can't be good."
"Fair enough, on intercept course now"

The PAFC fighter squadrons caught up with the Maitean 'gas planes' and their escorts before they reached the border. Although the gas planes are escorted, the PAFC's superior combat experience proves to be more than enough to deal with their escort fighters, either by destroying them or keeping them engaged so that other comrades can slip through. Most of the gas planes appear to have been destroyed, however, a few have made it through to the border, and the PAFC took some fighter losses in the engagement.

Casualties:
PAFC: 9 fighter planes
Cedorian-Maitean Border
Temporary confusion, and then brief panic reigned over the Cedorian line as the gas was deployed. However, quickly, the officers realised what was occurring. Shouting to their soldiers to equip their gas masks (like most modern armies, a standard issue gas mask was given to all infantry in the PRA) they themselves also equipped theirs. In all, the gas attack is largely ineffective. The artillery guns are too far away to be affected by the gas, and continue pounding the Maitean positions, and the armoured tank formations are still in reserve, waiting to make an armoured counterattack if necessary. Although the gas masks themselves are uncomfortable, and some soldiers did not put them on in time, the PRA lines hold. More significantly, PRA Commanders also realise that their enemy has made a tactical mistake. They were expecting their own soldiers to charge through the gas cloud to get to the Cedorians!
Unbelievably, the Maiteans had shot themselves in the foot, figuratively speaking, as most of their soldiers would probably be unwilling to charge into the gas cloud to engage the PRA. Even so, officers are preparing their comrade soldiers just in case they are needed to fend off a final attack.
Casualties:
PRA: 1800 killed, approx

Skies Over Maitea

Burst of flame erupts on the ground of the cities and towns below as thousands of bombs being dropped on Maitean population centres creates an ironically beautiful flash to light up the night sky. The second wave of PAFC bombers is even more devastating than the first, targets given priority were arms factories, AA Guns, bridges and several key railroads leading out of the cities. Although the AA guns do again take out some bombers, the PAFC bombing campaign seems to have inflicted heavy damage to infrastructure in Maitea's population centres, particularly the capital, which has been extensively bombed by both waves. As the second wave of bombers begins their RTB processes, leaving a burning trail of flame, smoke and destruction behind them, the third and final wave begins it's ascent towards Maitea.

With the Maiteans needing to charge a gas cloud, and their cities being bombed to rubble from the air, things do look bleak for the Imperialists. Maybe next time they will learn not to mess with the People's Republic of Cedoria.

Casualties:
PAFC: 18 strike bombers
Maiteans: Unknown, presumably very heavy, confirmation needed.

(OOC: Seriously, why do you think most gas attacks in WWI failed miserably? You are expecting your soldiers to charge straight into a gas cloud that they have created. I've no problem with you having this in the story mind you, just so long as you can think of a creative way to motivate your soldiers to try and charge into a cloud of poison gas against determined enemy positions, your morale is pretty low anyway.

Good job on the narrative and story-writing though, that goes for everybody,

OOC: How do you propose to make a push against my forces without sending your infantry troops at me?
It's difficult to make a push towards my forces ground wise without attacking me by ground, which would mean your forces had to go through the gas cloud. It's not so difficult if they have gas protection as well, but it should be cause for some reluctance amongst your troops.. I had not 'forgotten that the gas attack was a cover, I am merely waiting for you to RP it, since it is your attack, you should initiate it, and then I will respond to it, so far, you have only RP'd the gas attack.

Also, using gas masks DOES protect against mustard gas, which is designed primarily as an irritant, usually mixing it with a lethal gas, which the troops will rip of their gas mask due to the irritant and then be exposed to the killing agent. Modern armies have better quality gas masks than WW1, and also many are now aware of this particular tactic, again considering how common it was during the First World War. Mustard Gas on it's own will literally do nothing, as it is an irritant, but you may want to mix it with a lethal gas. If you have, then I can RP that

OOC: Exactly, it is an irritating agent, designed to make the defenders task more difficult by contaminating areas for long periods of time, Hence why modern gas masks are used, the masks protect your eyes and vulnerable areas of your face.

Like I said, mustard gas is an irritant, not a killing agent, he said he was using lethal gases, I didn't know whether mustard gas was included or not, but the same situation applies regardless of this. If Maitea wants to break my defensive line, his troops will have to go through my troops, and therefore, through the gas cloud.
Of course, that's just what my commanders THINK, if he has another way to surprise them, then he's welcome to use it, would make for an interesting RP.

Yeah, the assumption is your base would probably have been hit, however I am not going to say that for certain, as we don't know that your forces are there, but chances are they may have been.

OOC: Biological weapons pass through gas masks, right?

OOC: Mustard gas does not, no, the whole point of it is too get the enemy to rip his gas mask off so some other lethal agent can kill him.

IC:
Poras, People's Republic of Cedoria

Reacting to news of a gas attack on PRA troops along the borders, the Chairman Vallance Vallen today issued a stern warning to the Maitean Government, condemning this, 'violation of international law and numerous rule of engagement.' The Chairman also took an increasingly tougher tone against the Maiteans, stating that those responsible for the attacks should be "prosecuted as war criminals."

The most thrilling part of the Chairman's speech was as follows
"Any non-conventional weapons, nuclear, chemical or biological in nature on Cedorian forces or assets will be met with an IMMEDIATE nuclear retaliation from the People's Republic of Cedoria. If any of our enemies in this war get the crazy idea in their heads to launch nukes, or chemical bio weapons in a desperate attempt to stave off defeat, they will be met with an immediate and proportionate retaliation from the People's Republic of Cedoria. Let this be a warning to our enemies in the future, any attempt to use WMD's will result in your immediate annihilation, however, we shall keep in with the nuclear principle of 'no-first use' policy. Our weapons will be used only if we are attacked first."

Skies over Maitea
The third wave of bombers reached it's targets, this wave, escorted once more by fighter planes, was aiming to devastate residential areas of the cities and, particularly, government buildings. The centres of government in the Capital are particularly targeted by the carpet bombing. With the huge flashes lighting by the pre-dawn sky on the ground beneath them, the PAFC bomber squadrons return back towards Cedoria, their final task completed
Casualties
Cedorian: 9 bomber planes from remaining AA
Maitea: Unknown, but presumed heavy, many civilian areas and government centres bombed, including their Parliament, or equivalent thereof.

Back in Poras

Chairman Vallance Vallen sent a letter to the new Maitean President, after all, he had not begun the war against the People's Republic, maybe Vallance could persuade him to see reason.

Comrade President
I send you a message from the People's Republic of Cedoria. Let us not waste time with the usual diplomatic niceties. Your forces and country are in a terrible state, your armies attacks have failed to penetrate our border, your country has just undergone a violent change in government, your people are angered by the shortages and hardships caused by the war which you did not start, yet insist upon continuing, and your own country is under attack from others, seeking to restore the Empire. The People's Republic of Cedoria does not seek needless violence or bloodshed President, we have only reacted in order to defend ourselves. Therefore, I propose to you an offer of a peace treaty, The proposed terms are as follows

1: The Maitean Government will stand it's forces down, and cease all acts of war against the People's Republic of Cedoria, both violent and non-violent. The People's Republic of Cedoria shall do the same once the Maiteans have stood down
2: The Maitean Government shall pay 'war reparations', to the amount of $235 billion NS Dollars, to the People's Republic of Cedoria as a way of compensating for the costs of the war effort, and making a formal acknowledgement that they are responsible for the war.
3: The People's Republic of Cedoria shall undertake no further action against the Maitean Government whilst it fights it's war to defend itself against it's other aggressors, until the war ends, you will be left alone
4: However, once the war is over, and order is restored in Maitea, we would ask that the current government leaders of Maitea stand down from their positions, and hold formal democratic elections where the people of Maitea may choose their own leaders. As part of these elections, our Communist comrade from Maitea, codenamed 'Snowball' will be granted a full acquittal of all the charges currently against him in Maitea, and he will not be harmed. The Communist Party of Maitea shall be legalised and allowed to contest the elections in Maitea, under the leadership of 'Snowball' with international observers to guarantee the validity and legitimacy of the elections
5: The new elected government will agree to abide by the terms and conditions of this treaty in it's entirety.

We may be willing to negotiate on some of these terms if you have a counter-offer. However, be warned, if you sign this treaty, and then renege on it's terms, it will be considered a hostile action, resulting in the resumption of war between our two powers. Our bomber squadrons have just unleashed a devastating three-waved attack on your cities and towns tonight. Failure to sign this treaty will mean that they return tomorrow night, and then the next night, and then the night after that. Until your people have had enough, and rise up in Revolution against you.

You cannot fight a war on two fronts, trying to attack us, and hold off the other nations who are seeking to annex you/restore the Imperial government in Maitea. This treaty gives you a way to do what I believe you think is most important, concentrating your forces on defending your nation. I would urge you to consider signing this treaty in full, as it will take the pressure off you on multiple fronts, and concentrate on defending yourself against the other powers.
We look forward to your response.

Yours with anticipation
Chairman Vallance Vallen

OOC: This, DON'T TRY IT

I have just made a threat of nuclear annihilation if you dare it IC, and my country is bigger than yours. Others will also side with me if you launch an attack like that.
