Dragomerian Islands, can you give me a yay or nay on coinciding the MHE Mission with Project Horizon?

It's the Mars Human Exploration mission. I'm going to send four astronauts to Mars for a year. They will spend the entirety of that year in orbit, acting as a command and control station for various robotic missions that will be deployed to the surface during that year. The mission will be resupplied by a rocket from Earth six months in and will finalize with a small rocket robotically assembled on Mars sending up a few samples of interest gathered by the robots. They will then be brought home by a rocket assembled above Mars with five Odyssey 2-D rockets. Coinciding the missions makes both safer, and potentially allows one to help another if need be.

Well, yours actually sounds a bit more like it would benefit from research that my mission would do first. Also, it would be a bit burdensome on the ISA budget and the budgets of the member nations to work on two missions of the same kind, at the same time.

I will think about it.

Oh no, my mission would be entirely paid for out of Congrevopia's pocket. Congreveopia Space Command has a budget almost an order of magnitude larger than the ISA's.

The only benefit I could see in yours going first would be if you discovered the region that you landed in was A) far more interesting that the region I'm going to investigate and B) there was still a lot to be discovered even after you finished researching it. Whereas if we go at the same time, I have a team of assorted specialists I can call up without a half-hour delay, and you have a group of robots that can support your mission if needed.

About 10 trillion NSD? (and I thought my space budget was large) that is huge! The GDP of the usa is 16.8 trillion dollars, and it has the largest GDP of any country.

And to say it would be burdonsome on the ISA budget is also somewhat silly. The ISA budget is huge, it is nearly 1.3 trillion NSD, about a tenth of the GDP of the usa, therefore we should easily be able to launch any materials needed for their mission on the ISA bill, for example falcon heavy is planned to cost a mere 125 million and can lift up to 14 metric tons into LEO. Not saying that we should put it on the ISA bill, but we could.
Fabulously bisexual.
Note: I do not use NS stats for my RP, instead I use numbers I made up one evening when writing my factbooks.

Yes, my space agency's budget is actually 11 trillion NSD, half my defence budget.

My mission is going to be... expensive, though. The Odyssey 2-D will probably be one of the largest rockets ever built, and I will be using several of them along with many slightly smaller rockets. Also, the entire Odyssey 2 series will use nuclear engines in their upper stages, so that adds even more cost. (By the way, do you mind if I say that experts form your nation helped us design those engines?)

Would you believe me if I told you that NS economy just stopped working for some reason?

Yes, I would as I have had problems before. (looks up nation on NS economy) so you spend 1/3 of your GDP on your military, that is a lot.

But about those NTRs, what fuel do they use, and how are the moderated (if at all) and what do they use for reactivity control? Sorry for the questions, but it helps to know how they are designed.

So, considering, I've decided to not go ahead with the MHE mission. This RP should be only about Dragomerian Islands's mission, not his and mine.
