The date is the third of March 1938, oil had been struck in Arain. The Arainians knew the value of oil in the eyes of the men of Europe, and after years of a turbulent economy seeing the fall of the price of pearls due to Japanese pearl cultivation, the Arainians needed a kick back into their economy back from the depths of the Great Depression, that kick; black gold. The British geologists and oil engineers who had discovered the oil also knew this value and were determined to come to agreement with the Emir of Arain, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah.
Two years earlier, British oil engineers and geologists headed into Arain to analyze the situation of oil and to find ways to exploit it after the interest in oil exploration in the Arabian Peninsula due to oil being struck in Bahrain in 1932. The European powers were desperate for oil, the fuel to power their war machines. From their ships to their vehicles, oil was vital. A promising site was chosen by the allies in an area nearby the village of Dammam. After several failed attempts at discovering the oil, the team were on the verge of quitting but chief geologist Max Steineke persevered insisting on the team to dig deeper, even when the site named Dammam No. 7 was plagued by cave-ins, stuck drill bits and other problems, before the drillers finally struck oil on 3 March 1938.This discovery would turn out to be first of many, eventually revealing the largest source of crude oil in the world.
A year later the first oil wells were constructed. In an agreement signed by the Emir of Arain and British Chief Political Resident in the Gulf Trenchard Craven William Fowle representing the British government, the Emir agreed to supply Britain with oil seventy five percent off the normal international market price for the next twenty years and in exchange the British will explore for more oil reserves and assist in the exploitation of oil in Arain as well as teach the Arainians how to exploit the oil and provide Arain with two ships capable of transporting the barrels. Never had there been a better time for the agreement, months later in September France and Britain declared war on Germany.
During the Second World War, Arain became one of the largest suppliers of oil to the allies a decision it would not come to regret. During June of 1941, Iran disputed Arain's control of Arabi Island a small Island 0.1 kilometers squared in size nearby a larger Island under the control of Iran known as Farsi Island after Arain began construction of a small dock and a naval fort on the island. Arain responded saying that the island was used for many decades by Arainian pearl divers who dived for pearls around the islands even docking and resting there for days at a time before returning to Arain and as such Arain has historical claim on the island. This dispute eventually led to the looting of an Arainian ship carrying barrels of oil to supply allied troops, the ship however was free to go however two Arainian crew members and the captain were killed for resisting.
This attack was condemned by the British, who by this time were holding meetings with the Soviets plotting an invasion of Iran for what they accused was the Shah's sympathy and friendly ties with the Axis powers though Iran was officially neutral. Several neighboring states became entrenched in the situation.

Greetings upon our good neighbors to the west. It is to be advised that such statements will cause a black stain on our relations. Stay out of business that does not concern you or your nation, the Island is Iranian land under Arainian occupation. Your friends the British do not scare us, stay out of this conflict or your ships will have a hard time passing through the straits of Hormuz.
From Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, Emir of Arain to Prince Abdulilah bin Ali, Regent of His Majesty King Faisal of Iraq, greetings and salutations to the family of the dear Raifi'a May God have mercy on her. You may have heard of the recent Iranian aggression against our ship and their recent occupation of the Arainian island of Arabi. We ask of you, and of the sisterly nation of Iraq to send naval vessels and men to the island of Tarut near Qatif to help us in a war. Hopefully diplomatic solutions will work, but we will not allow our territorial integrity to be harmed. I ask you this from brother to brother, from friend to friend, from family to family.

His Highness Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, Emir of Arain

We warn you to cease and desist with your current course of actions concerning the Persian occupation of Arainian land. The Island falls under Allied jurisdiction and British protection. Your navy's unlawful embargo of British oil will be seen as a violation of your declaration of neutrality. Should you continue to interfere with the Allied oil supply you shall be considered acting in support of the Axis powers and this shall not be without dire consequences being imposed.

We wish not to bring our two great nations to war good Sir. We are the last ones in the world to wish for war and blood, fire and sword for we prefer the path of peace and diplomacy. This dispute with Arain is in self defense, and we assure Your Excellency that Iran will cease attacks on Arainian vessels in exchange for Arainian recognition of Iran's sovereignty over the disputed Island.

The Emir of Arain sat in his Diwan, his nine year old granddaughter on his lap. She was the daughter of his deceased and eldest son formerly Crown Prince of Arain Sheikh Ibrahim and his deceased wife the daughter of King Faisal I, sister to King Ghazi I, and aunt of the current King Faisal II. Orphaned at the age of two, she was raised by her grandmother the divorced wife and cousin of the Emir of Arain Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah and would visit her grandfather weekly.
The Emir's adviser entered the diwan greeting the Emir. "Good day Your Highness, I judge you are well?" he asked as the Emir responded in the affirmative, "I'm doing well Ghassan, please sit" he said as he signaled to the seat beside him. "Your Highness I bring rather disturbing news, the Iranians have occupied the island of Arabi. Our navy has already prepared itself in the Island of Tarut for a counter attack however we are outnumbered and out gunned".
The Emir's face grew stern. "Prepare a letter to Prince Abdulilah, and write down what I say closely". The adviser brought a paper and a pen and began writing and copied what Sheikh Abdulaziz said exactly. From Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, Emir of Arain to Prince Abdulilah bin Ali, Regent of His Majesty King Faisal of Iraq, greetings and salutations to the family of the dear Raifi'a May God have mercy on her. The telegram was immediately sent through the only trading vessel of a small Arainian merchant to Basra and from the Emir's contacts on his farm outside Basra to Baghdad.

It was just a friendly advice there was no need of threats but since you believe that Harmouz will stop me then you are wrong. Arain is our Ally and we have sworn to protect them even to from Persian Pirates if that is the case.
Soon Your Straight that you are so proud of will cease to exist if you continue apposing the Allies. i have warned you, The Kingdom of Iraq has British military bases and they are not afraid to be used. Thank you

Arain wrote:"Persian pirates is it? That Arab had just written himself a suicide note!" the Iranian Minister of Defense thought to himself ripping up the letter. "This telegr will get us all killed, Shah Reza will act too easily if he got his hands on this" the Minister said to his accomplice working in the mail section of the palace. "You never saw me here understood?" The Minister said handing a thick envelope of cash over to the man.

The Arainian Naval Force in Tarut consisted of wooden Dhows with mortars as they were joined by the far superior Iraqi Navy. Looks of distraught were seen on the Iraqis' faces when they saw what the Arainian ships had to offer. The Arainians were led by Captain (Nokhedha) Nu'man Al Awadhi and soon they departed for the island of Arabi. Once they arrived the Iranians were already fortifying the naval base constructed there by the Arainians.
The Iranians began firing at the vessels as soon as they came on sight with machine guns, managing to kill two Arainians and wounding one, bullets rained on the Iraqi ships as well. "Focus on the ships, fire at them with your mortars before they can sail out and attack us!" Captain Nu'man shouted. Arainian ships began to mortar Iranian vessels completely destroying six of the ten ships' ability to go mobile as explosions rocked the waves. However some Iranians took the oppurtunity to use the shells of the destroyed ships as cover as they fired. Iranian mortars fired sinking three of the thirty Arainian vessels and striking at one Iraqi vessel. The Battle for Arabi Island began.

Arain wrote:Bullets fired from machine guns and rifles overhead at the ships after the naval victory, the island was all that was left. Five Arainians were killed by the fire while three were wounded. Captain Nu'man instructed half the Arainian ships to go around the island surrounding it and backing the Arainian men as they row towards the shore in rowboats to set up a successful beachhead. Ships surrounded the east and north eastern parts of the island bombarded the naval fort from behind, while cover from the front allowed most of the men to get to the beach while a few rowboats were destroyed and their occupants killed, in total fifteen Arainians were killed. Thirty five Arainians made it to the shore taking cover behind a few boulders, two began setting up a mortar behind the boulder.
Soon enough more Arainian rowboats made it to the island, six Arainian ships were destroyed by Iranian mortars killing fifty six Arainians while seventeen more managed to get to the shore after their ship was destroyed. Wrecked ships made it to the shore as the soldiers holding the beachhead used the wood as cover for the gun fire. A two hour long fire fight erupted in which three mortar fires pounded the Naval fort wrecking a third of it as the pieces crumbled to the ground and sea. Thirty two Iranian men were killed and six wounded in the firefight as well as sixteen Arainians and a number of Iraqis dead with nine wounded, while eleven Arainian ships were destroyed and a number of Iraqi ships fired upon and mortared. The Arainians alongside the Iraqis managed to advance towards the fort carrying along their cover as they moved forward. The observant Captain Nu'man who was on the shore by then instructed the Arainians to cover themselves with the rowboats to protect from the rifle fire as they advanced.
A mortar on an Arainian ship managed to decimate the front gate as the Iranians rushed to push the heavy gate back up the Arainian men pulled out their swords and charged at the Iranians at the gate, killing the five while eight Arainian men were killed from overhead fire. Little did the Arainians and Iraqis know, the Iranians telegraphed forces from nearby Farsi Island for back up.

Confused, the commander Ali Reza questioned Captain Nu'man who was of Iranian decent as well as being able to speak Persian. "We managed to repel the invading Arabs on our own!" The Captain said in Persian from atop the Fort. Ali Reza curious hopped on to the Island.
Before he could react, he was shot three times once in the neck, chest, and shoulder. He was instantly killed by an Arainian soldier near the gate. The Arainian ships came in formation attacking the Iranian vessels. Three of the Iranian ships were boarded and captured prisoners and weapons taken. While five other Iranian ships were decimated and sunk. One Arainian ship was sunk however. Soon the sound of Iraqi planes came up in the near distance.
