Planet Grab (FT, Closed)

Postby Lotrabme » Sun Jul 27, 2014 10:26 am

Link to OOC page for Questions: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=306224
Post apps to the OOC ^^^

Welcome to a Planet Grab RP! This is intended to be like the land-claim ones except in the FT universe. Here are the rules:

1: Do not Godmod or spam, ie: no impossibly huge invasion fleets or claiming how many ships are destroyed for other people, nor claiming all the planets are yours immediately without fighting and RPing for such a goal fairly.

2: Claim only 1 planet or moon at a time. For the asteroid belts you may claim a single asteroid or dwarf planet. If you intend to take more make it part of the RP rather than just saying you have it.

3: Fill out an app before jumping, I won't allow you in unless you do. OOC page is up so post apps or questons there, or TG me.

4: War or peace are acceptable, its up to you!

5: Have fun!

This signal was sent out into space with no real direction. The system being found to be barren of intelligent life seemed a good opportunity for the Mind Empire to use as an outpost to view the actions of other interstellar powers. Coming into the system was the Type 2 Starbase Habitat Gomorrah, with a diameter of 30 kilometers, it released several ships as the great donut like disk descended toward the sun.

Careening towards one of the two Dwarf planets in the outer asteroid belt, the ship came to a halt above it. Sending down the now released vessels to the surface, the colonization burrowing began.

"Here we make our base of operations, we shall park the Gomorrah above this Dwarf planet and interact with other powers from it." said the Haman in his military skinsuit. Admiral Baylock IV was his name and he was the one in charge of this operation. Around him stood several other Hamans and many Mallumans, all going about their business in the Command Center, while listening to the Admiral speak.

"Lord Admiral" said one of the Hamans, Commander Rolo 26, "are you sure its wise to send out messages to other powers to allow them to colonize this system? It may end in our destruction?"

"How? We can flee if we need to, and we are after all here to make peace. If any has qualms with that mission they will be destroyed in due time. We will gather resources and do diplomacy as needed. And we have the defensive measures to prevent our own destruction with us."

"Admiral" said his Malluman 1st Vizier Yuj Volelee "Even 65 light years from Hame, we are still relatively close, other powers may travel further but have better range."

"Indeed" said Commander Rolo "There could be danger lurking right around the corner that will find its way back to our core worlds."

"They will not!" said Baylock looking at these two devil's advocates "We have brought 3 defense orbs with us for our defense, as well 6 B-5 Battlecruisers and a whole fleet of Nimloths and Stings, we have the power to defend ourselves if we need to you must be assured." Baylock was clearly not in the mood to discuss such matters and with a glance he ordered them to leave and prepare the different squadrons for their tasks and to alert the merchants that their tasks can now commence. Walking to the image of the Dwarf planet bellow on the dome viewscreen in the command center, Baylock looked up at the stars around him. Soon an AI orb came up to him, it was his trusted companion Goldeye.

Goldeye spoke in his flagellated voice "I have calibrated all systems Admiral, every Haman on board is synced to our new Colonial control, and I have begun re-organizing my own subsystems to become World Controller."

"Splendid Goldeye" said Baylock still looking at the planet. "Read me the population of the Gomorrah" He said.

"4,300 Biological Hamans and 13,020 AI Hamans, 30,000 Mallumans, 12,000 Yorms, Hive Zulyls Nebulan population numbers 1,235." said the AI.

"I'm sure more will come, including Aliosan Humans, Kalodos and Ombroj. At least once we get the phase beacon set up."

"Of course Admiral. Shall I send the message to the other foreign powers?"

"You may Goldeye."

The message was sent out from the Dwarf planet to every corner of space it could reach within 1,000 light years. The system was open to colonization by dictum of the Mind Empire.

RNS Indefatigable
Cygni Star System, Two Lightyears from Arcadia
Six Months AD

The Republic of Arcadia was on the hunt for planets to colonise. Due to their detached nature from the Home Galaxy, Arcadia had been a safe haven from the War, hosting huge numbers of displaced refugees, but for the most part these had been transients, never staying there for too long. When the destabilisation had happened however, the newly formed Republic of Arcadia had found itself with far too many people to be comfortably accommodated on the planet, such was the sheer number of people that called Arcadia home. It would take many centuries to build Arcadia into a city-world like Coruscant, although that was the ultimate aim, so the decision instead had been made to expand. In doing so they would also bring into the Republic new resources and supplies than would otherwise have been the case. It was not without its potential risks of course, but the Arcadian Senate had decided that it was worth the risk. The discovery of a number of hyperspace lanes leading from the Arcadia Sector had only made the idea more promising, it would decrease the cost and time of transport, and the Republic populous had taken to the idea with eagerness.

So when a Republic listening post had picked up the communication, announcing the multi-civilisation colonisation scheme it had been jumped on by the Republic Senate, after all it would be an ideal centre of commerce and diplomacy if it could all be done peacefully. Never the less, with such a public announcement of the discovery of an inhabitable planet the possibility remained that some would try and take by force what others would try to take by diplomacy, so the although the actual expedition would take longer, it had been decided to send the Republic Navy on ahead.

Battlegroup 24 of the Republic Navy had been chosen for that particular role. A ‘General’ Battlegroup of the Republic Navy, it consisted of two Line Squadrons and two Patrol Squadrons, and was designed to be capable of carrying out a wide range of operations, and was a not-unsubstantial collection of military strength and firepower. Consisting of no less than eight Venator-Class Star Destroyers, plus their attendant escorts and patrol ships, it was by no means a force to be trifled. It’s commander, Vice Admiral Alistair Valorous was a decorated veteran of the Clone Wars, but had been on Arcadia recuperating at the time of the destabilisation, and was eager for a peaceful mission such as this.

The Battlegroup’s orders were simple. They were to enter the system, find the most hospitable planet and claim it in the name of the Republic. Although the resources would be a nice bonus, the priority here was for a planet to start relieving the burden on Arcadia, and perhaps just as importantly to spread out the population, there was no indication of a threat against Arcadia itself, but it putting all one’s eggs in one’s basket was a really bad idea, especially in their current situation, if Arcadia fell, it would be all over. It was part of the reason why the force sent for this expedition was a full Battlegroup, if they were about to be attacked then clearly the Republic wanted to make sure that he had a decent chance to defend this new Colony against a hostile species if it came down to it.

The Vice Admiral’s thoughts were disrupted by a report from one of the two work station bays on either side of the main command walkway, in this case the starboard side which handled the navigation, communications and other operations side (as opposed to the port which handled tactical).

“We’re one minute out from the Cygni Star System, Sir,” Lieutenant Commander Jase Keel, the Indefatigable’s senior navigator, reported. “We’re aiming for the outer system, we’ll proceed in from there.”

“Good,” VADM Valorous nodded, looking down at the Navigator. “No point spooking anyone, it won’t take us long to come in from the outermost planet anyway.”

Valorous remained stood at the very front of his bridge, hands clasped behind his back as he looked out at the ever changing tunnel of hyperspace until, about sixty seconds later, it was suddenly replaced by a more storm like visage before normal space appeared in front of him and the Indefatigable slowed rapidly to acceptable speeds in the normal universe. To anyone watching the Indefatigable, her seven sisters and their various smaller consorts would appear to have suddenly appeared in the outer system with next to no warning. Valorous had carried out countless such returns to normal space in his time, each one was as exciting as the next as you didn’t know what was on the other side. It was also a harrowing experience sometimes, as more than once he had jumped straight into a fire fight. Fortunately, that wasn’t a problem this time.

“Report contacts,” Valorous ordered crisply, knowing that the ship’s sensors would already be reaching out deep into the system.

Valorous waited patiently. He knew that badgering his bridge crew wouldn’t speed up the process of gathering the sensor data, all it would do was put undue pressure on his people, which might cause them to make mistakes. Valorous had been a command, and later flag, officer for a long time, and he liked to consider himself one of the good ones, he knew how to get the best out of his people. Sure enough after a few minutes Lieutenant Commander Kyle Maymier, the Tactical Operations Officer, spoke up from the port side station pit.

“Sir, reading multiple contacts, approximate Battlegroup to small fleet size, plus one major station and three smaller constructs,” Lt. Commander Maymier reported. “In addition, reading six capital ships, plus over a hundred and fifty smaller vessels.”

Valorous nodded thoughtfully. It stood to reason that these were the ‘Mind Empire’, whatever the hell that was, that had sent out the message in the first place. As such he presumed that it was unlikely that they were going to attack. Never the less he was concerned about those stations. He had numerical superiority in terms of capital ships, although as they had never been encountered before they were judged as that based on their relative size, and he had no idea of the qualative comparison that those ships, or any of its escorts, would be compared to their Republic counterparts, and he didn’t particularly want to find out. Naval Intelligence could handle that particular task in the long run , but if they were going to share the system, a certain level of trust would be essential. He wondered what they thought of his Battlegroup suddenly turning up, he knew full well that he’d have concerns if a force the size of his suddenly appeared in the system that he was operating in, but they had reached out and called other people to them, so hopefully they wouldn’t be too surprised to discover that someone had responded to their transmission.

“All ships, maintain Battlegroup formation,” Valorous instructed and the powerful ion engines kicked in and propelled the Indefatigable and her compatriots deeper into the system. “Maintain a defensive watch, all fighters on alert five.”

Valorous looked out the expansive viewports of the bridge as his Battlegroup maintained is formation and continued into the system. The formation was designed to provide interlocking fields of defensive fire, to cause the enemy to spread its fire amongst the Battlegroup and to ensure that depending on the intent of the Admiral, offensive fire could variable be concentrated on one area of the target, or spread across several slightly divergent vectors. There was also plenty of scope for the fighter complements of the Star Destroyers to get into the action, fill in the gaps and along with the escorts prevent enemy flanking maneuverers.

Valorous considered the Mind Empire ships thoughtfully, he supposed that he should probably contact them with his intention, the last thing he needed was a misunderstanding.

“Communications, give me a channel to that alien fleet,” Valorous ordered and waited a few moments before speaking, audio only for the moment. “Attention Mind Empire vessels… this is Vice Admiral Alastair aboard the Star Destroyer Indefatigable, I am here with orders to claim the planet, Cygni IV, in the name of the Republic of Arcadia. Please respond.”

Goldeye, uplinked to the Gommorah's telescopic and radio signals picked up the incoming transmission from the Republic Navy battlegroup. After carefully examining the data and determining the nature of the message and the fleet that sent it, Goldeye teleported himself across the ship to the sanctum of the Admiral.

Appearing in a flash of white light from his own operating chamber, Goldeye found himself outside the double door to the living quarters of the admiral. Two Cy-2 battle droids stood guard to keep out any intruders. The one on the left spoke "IP series Goldeye, recognized, state your purpose."

"I bring a message from a foreign power to the Admiral, it is of the utmost importance" said Goldeye plainly.

The left one replied monotonely: "Let me check" after a moment of processing the Cy-2 said "Enter". After which the double doors would open automatically after a soothing bell tone. Floating into the room, Goldeye would find Admiral Baylock drinking a bottle of Haman-Black Kanar and eating a dish of rippleberries and string cheese as he sat on a couch with the plate and bottle resting on a coffee table. The lights in the sanctum's main chamber were a lighter lavender then the harsher purples and blues throughout the ship, and it was clear this was a resednetial suite by the furniture and the potted plants.

"Lord Admiral, If I may have your attention" said Goldeye waiting at the door.

"Ah yes" said Baylock through stuffed cheeks. After swallowing what he ate, he motioned to the floating orb and said "Please come in, what do you have for me, a message?"

"Indeed sir" said the droid floating until he hovered just before the Admiral. He projected a holographic display of the fleet, as well as the message. "This was sent about a minute ago."

Looking at the size of the fleet the Republic had sent it, the Admiral was slightly worried as the sheer number of the vessels while nearly matching his own may have held greater firepower or military capacity. Indeed their fleet formation seemed like a defensive measure. Though, knowing that the message sent out might seem like a bait or trap, and knowing that these were uncharted waters for many, defense was a necessary precaution. Seeing the message he detected no signs of aggression. Knowing that they likely wanted peace as well, the Admiral made up his mind.

"Alright" said Baylock, "Please, patch me through" he said as he stood up and went to his suite's viewscreen and was patched into the communication systems. From here he would speak to the Republic of Arcadia. Goldeye remained at his side with the transcript of the initial message so he could see what it was. He stood so that upon viewing the image, he would be standing in front of a flag of the Mind Empire, the 8 point compass on the blue background, with the purple and silver walls and two potted ferns bellow.

Seeing him as the message patched through, Vice Admiral Valorous would see a vaguely Humanoid creature with a large cranium and small facial organs, pale grey-beige skin, and some cybernetic devices located behind his ears and on his neck. He wore a black skinsuit with red trim along the collar, and he had a leather military vest on over it, displaying his Admiral's plugs.

He began to respond into the feed:
Good Day Vice Admiral Valorous.... This is Admiral Baylock IV of the Mind Empire, Overseer and Commanding Officer of the fleet stationed here for our colonies' protection, and as a Diplomatic speaker for the Empire.... Your fleet size and formation indicate you are ready for a battle, and while as a military man I understand the need for safety precautions I must assure you, you face no threat from me.... Your orders to colonize Cygni d are sound, you may proceed.... If you require any aid, I and our Type 2 Starbase is at your disposal for repairs, and you may also come to speak of trade and treaty agreements if you so wish...

RNS Indefatigable
Cygni Star System, Two Lightyears from Arcadia
Six Months AD

“A precaution I assure you, standard procedure when entering an unknown system and facing an unknown civilization, hard experience has warned of the danger of not being suitably prepared when dropping out of Hyperspace,” Valorous replied simply. “We will proceed to Cygni IV and commence our colonization effort, once it is underway I, or another representative, will seek to speak with you on those matters.”

With that the Republic formation continued towards their target planet. They remained in their defensive formation as they proceeded, but only because it was good practice. As they reached the planet itself they began to maneuverer defensively around the planet to ensure that it was fully covered by picket ships, just in case someone was hiding in its magnetic shadow. The Star Destroyers themselves remained together, covering the orbital space above the largest continent which would serve as the base of this new colony. Valorous’ instincts weren’t telling him that this ‘Mind Empire’ wasn’t a threat, at least not immediately, but a threat might arrive at any time and he wanted to be ready. The morale impact that a defeat out here would have on the Republic was substantial.

He had put off any diplomatic talks for a few reasons. Firstly he wanted to get a better ideal of who and what he was dealing with, if nothing else he wanted to get more sensor records of the alien vessels, so that he had a better idea of whether he could take them if he had to. Secondly he wanted to get the Colony established, he would be in a stronger position if his people had boots on the ground, not to mention the fact that the actual expedition would be arriving soon enough, and a foundation on the planet would be more useful to them than any amount of diplomatic discussions with an alien civilization. The third reason was because he didn’t particularly want to do it himself if he could avoid it, he was a military officer, not a diplomat. Given the nature of the situation it had been decided that a Jedi contingent would be dispatched to join the expedition, as much as the Jedi had become extremely good at their martial skills over the past three years, they were still far better diplomats than he could ever be, and he was entirely grateful that this Jedi was coming ahead of the main expedition.

“Deploy the garrisons,” Valorous ordered with a slight smile.

The first stage of the colonization effort was simple. Each of the Star Destroyers carried the parts for a prefabricated garrison base, which could be deployed into strategic positions on the surface, either located near to potential civilian settlement sites or to critical or important resources. Once the actual expedition arrived, these garrisons would serve to protect them for the immediate future. Each of the Venator-Class Star Destroyers had the passenger space for over two thousand personnel, in wartime these would usually be inhabited by extra Marines or even Army troops, both to defend the ship and to respond to any off-ship emergencies. For the most part during peacetime they were empty, or only lightly used by the much smaller marine contingents. For this occasion however they were once again full to the brim with Army troops, who would be manning the garrison bases far below, after all the whole point of the strong Republic presence before the arrival of the main expedition was that it might need to defend the Republic claim, and that might be on the ground as well as in space.

Valorous smiled, satisfied, as he watched the first LAAT/I drop ships and various other shuttles begin to head towards the planet, soon enough the Republic claim would be a fact, not just a statement. But he couldn’t rest on his laurels quite yet, he still had to make sure that he was prepared for any eventuality and that meant knowing as much as possible about the system he was now charged with defending.

“Launch the ARCs,” Valorous ordered. “I want the entire system scouted, all of the magnetic shadows in particular, start seeding reconnaissance buoys.”

ARC-170 Starfighter
Cygni Star System, Two Lightyears from Arcadia
Six Months AD

Lieutenant (JG) Tyla Valen smiled broadly as she gunned the throttle of her ARC-170 Starfighter, pulled back on the stick and ascended rapidly through the opening ventral doors of the Venator-Class Star Destroyer Indefatigable. She had only joined the Republic Navy six months previously, like many civilians she had joined up with the military after Arcadia was cut off with the home galaxy. She had already been an experienced and capable fighter pilot so she had put through a crash course in military lifestyle before being commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. During the Clone Wars she, like many civilians just like her, had served as local militia for various Republic worlds, or as civilian escorts for merchant ships to free up Republic military assets for actually fighting the CIS. But she had clearly made a name for herself in Arcadia for she was one of the former civilians that had actually been requested by the military. She was still getting used to both being in charge of people, and working alongside Clones. Although there were other non-clones in the entire Air Wing, and those of the other Star Destroyers, the rest of her squadron was made up of Clones. But as she had come to realise quickly, they were all very interesting, and individual, people.

She was one of three people in her ARC-170, herself and two clones. She was the pilot, and thus the ‘commander’ of the Starfighter, joining her was her co-pilot, who went by Deadeye, and her rear gunner, who went by Sweeper. The ARC-170 was a heavy Starfighter, designed for a joint deep reconnaissance and heavy strike capability, and unlike pretty much every other Starfighter carried by a Venator-Class Star Destroyer it had its own Hyperdrive. Armed with medium laser cannons and proton torpedoes it could do significant damage, and its six was protected by a light laser cannon, manned by her gunner. Each Star Destroyer carried three squadrons worth, thirty-six fighters, which meant that all told there were nearly three hundred ARC-170s taking to space around the Fleet, but even this was only a fraction of the true capacity of the Battlecarrier that was the Venator-Class Star Destroyer. Once clear of the ship they began to spread out, there might be a lot of them but a star system was a big place and there were a lot of places to scout out.

“Got the first waypoint locked in Deadeye?” Tyla queried as she checked her HUD.

“Roger that Tyla, just putting it on your display now,” Deadeye replied. “You board back there yet Sweeper?”

“Yeah, and we’ve only just started,” Sweeper replied, and Tyla could almost hear his annoyance. “Mind if I go to sleep back here?”

“Stay alert back there,” Tyla warned. “We don’t know what we’re getting ourselves into here.”

Sweeper simply acknowledged then went quiet. For the moment Tyla was just satisfied to enjoy flying the Starfighter. She had flown plenty of different craft in her time, including the venerable Z-95 Headhunter, a variant of which had joined the ranks of the Republic Navy during the war, but the ARC-170 was quite simply the most powerful Starfighter she had ever seen. It might lack the speed and manoeuvrability of a V-Wing, or the well-balanced nature of the Z-95, but it certainly made up for it in firepower, and its heavy shielding compensated for its lack of agility. Any enemy fighter that got in its crosshairs was almost certainly toast, and between its medium laser cannons and its proton torpedoes it could pose a threat to Starships, and in groups, even larger warships, the aft light laser cannon also helped compensate for its lack of agility. It was quite literally an honour to fly, and she knew that she had been specially picked to fly the ARCs, after all there were a much smaller number, compared to say the V-Wings or the Z-95s. The added bonus of being able to exercise her own initiative, due to the long-ranged nature of normal ARC-170 patrols, meant that even though she had only just joined up, she was already on a fast track, no doubt to make up for her years not in the military, when the Clones, for better or worse, had dominated the Republic Military.

“Making the first turn,” Tyla reported to her team as she banked the fighter along with her wingman. “Deploying the first sensor, moving onto the next waypoint.”

The Gomorrah, over the Dwarf Planet claimed by the Mind Empire.

In the council chamber of the the Gomorrah Admiral Baylock was meeting with his commanding officers, some transmitting their images from their Battlecruisers or their Frigates. Most of these were military beings, members of the Imperial Armada. There was the Hive Queen of the Nebulans on board in session as well, and Goldeye was among the robotic Hamans in attendance.

"Officers" said Baylock to the assembled "We have made planetfall on our new outpost, and we have made contact with a foreign power with peaceful intentions. These events having occured, we shall begin our mining operations in the asteroid belt, as well as our science operations."

"If I may Admiral" said Commander Rolo 26 "I must bring to your attention the feed from Goldeye's sensors that indicate the 'Republic' fleet has launched their own scanner wings."

"Its true sir" replied Goldeye "they appear to be scouting the system starting around their new world, perhaps for potential threats."

"It seems they are especially concerned with their defense. I wouldn't be surprised if they had gone through a recent war and are still holding onto some of the bad feelings from that period." said Baylock while rubbing his chin. He knew these people did not mean to seem over defensive, but their fleet presence seemed far more paranoid than he would have expected from the first to show up.

"I hope our trade will not suffer unduely from their current state, our hive is here to make a profit." said the Zulyl Hive queen through a mechanical translator to all in the room.

"The interests of Hive Zulyl will not be overlooked your Grace" said the Admiral respectfully, "for now your best option would be to focus on collecting asteroid resources until the republic has established itself on their new world before we send our merchants. Does anyone else have any concerns?"

With no one responding the Admiral said "Very good, Dismissed."

--------------------------

Commander Bacara Rolo 26 was not pleased with the result of the meeting. While he knew the Admiral was concerned about the Republic's defensiveness he felt as though Baylock was not paying enough attention to it. He feared less about the Republic itself and more about whatever the republic had faced to make them so on edge, and was determined to get to the center of the issue.

Rolo's number was the sign that he was the 26th clone of an original Haman some time in the deep past. In his race this was not uncommon, indeed most of the first Hamans had been created from birthing chambers aboard the Ark they took to Hame, and then retooled that Ark into their current Orbital city. Most Hamans alive were still very much clones in truth, and there are many more AI Hamans than biological cybernetics. Rolo in the 26th generation was the product of more than 300 years of manipulation for increased intelligence and problem solving, as well as latent psychic ability. If anyone could discern what the Arcadians were up to, with the help of Goldeye he could.

Entering Goldeye's chamber, Rolo spoke to him "Goldeye, are you busy?"

"Not at all commander, do come in" said Goldeye turning in his stasis field. He floated atop a pedestal in a round and very mechanical feeling room. It seemed more like the bowels of the ship than a control center, but here it was where Goldeye monitored the planet.

"How is being a World Controller?" smirked Rolo to the floating droid.

"Not as glamorous as I thought" said the robot plainly enough, almost sighing " though I suppose that's because I'm not ruling somewhere like Hame or San or Malluma Mondos, instead I have a big asteroid to watch out for. Though it is interesting given the particular set up of this political area." Goldeye was looking at some data feeds at the time, he seemed distracted.

"That's kind of what I came to speak to you about" said Rolo.

"Oh? Do tell" said Goldeye now interested "my feeds may be relevant aye?"

"Indeed" said Rolo "The Republic seems far too paranoid for my taste, and I want to know if they pose a threat to us, they think we pose a threat to them, or if another threat is coming are way that they haven't told us about."

"Intriguing theory" said the orb shaped droid, pulling up some scanner feeds. "The Republic's scouting teams seem to be investigating the magnetic fields of planets rather intensely. I believe they may be trying to see if anyone is hiding there waiting to spring a trap."

"Our preliminary scans showed us no signs of sentient life in this system" said Rolo "do they really believe someone would be lying in wait?"

"It is possible Commander, after all" said the droid "We did rather openly send that message, perhaps to some it seemed too obvious, and to others it was the perfect bait in the sense that they could use it. The Republic is probably taking that course of thought."

"I knew Baylock shouldn't have been assigned to this, Hes a good commander in battle but he's not a very good planner." Rolo scratched the small mop of black hair on his head.

"He is our Admiral" said Goldeye. "What he thinks is best is our command."

"He needs to take our advice more seriously" said the Commander Plainly, turning to the droid and then pacing as he spoke with his arms behind his back. "Extending an Olive branch does not mean you will receive piece in return. If anything he should know that, Baylock the First was cut down in battle after suing for peace, and Baylock the second was the opposite and a ruthless tyrant who never Offered peace!"

"It has never been a trait of the Baylocks' to listen to others rather than follow their own instincts. I'm not sure what Balazar the blessed thought when he gave them that recipe." said Goldeye shaking himself as though he were a head.

"Controller, do I have your permission to take a Nimloth on a scouting run? I have no intention of starting anything, I just want to check things out where the republic is searching."

"One moment" said Goldeye, with his eye-bulb going dark for a moment. "The Admiral and I have given you permission Commander, good luck."

-------------------------------

Taking Nimloth 05-26, Commander Rolo went out towards the moon of Cygni d, in an attempt to look at the routes of the scouts as they scanned the system. The Nimloth class vessels were 200 meters in length, 170 in width at the widest, and about 50 meters in height at the tallest hump. By no means were these craft the most camouflaged vehicles (especially considering space camouflage is a near impossibility) , though they were nimble and did have a semi-cloaker that to less advanced civilzations was nearly invisible. With a crew of 47 Mallumans and a Haman Officer, Commander Rolo began his journey.

ARC-170 Starfighter
Cygni Star System, Two Lightyears from Arcadia
Six Months AD

“That’s the furthest out sensor, Boss,” Deadeye reported as their ARC-170 dropped its later sensor buoy. “Our course should take us back towards Cygni IVs moon then back to the Indefagitable.”

Tyla acknowledged and brought the Starfighter round in almost a hundred and eighty degree turn and began to head back to the planet. The way the ARCs had been spreading out where in two distinctive patterns. One, which included Tyla, had been seeding a shell of sensor buoys steadily further out from the planet, the idea being that as a target got closer to the planet they’d be steadily pinged by more and more sensors, which would make sure that they were indeed detected and that more sensor information could be gleaned. The other group had been heading to the various planets and moons, playing sensors around them and in particular anywhere that didn’t have direct line of sight for sensors from Cygni IV itself. The sensors of a Venator-Class Star Destroyer for example were powerful, and had a very long range, but what they couldn’t do is physically see through an entire planet not through the thicket parts of the magnetic fields. They had learnt through painful experience that such places made excellent ambush locations.

Tyla recalled one of the few times she had actually been involved with the military prior to the Destabilisation. She had been hired as a contractor to help ferry an important cargo that needed all the protection that could be found on short notice. Headed up by a Venator-Class Star Destroyer the ad hoc convoy had headed out towards its destination, upon approaching it however they had passed too close to one of the planets, behind which a CIC Battleship had been lurking and ambushed them. The Star Destroyer had been destroyed and the fighter escort had been nearly wiped out before the arrival of three additional Venators had saved the convoy from total annihilation. All because the Captain of the Star Destroyer had not scouted out the planet before they approached, it was damn stupidity and it had cost over ten thousand people, most of them clones, their lives. Thankfully that had happened early on in the war, and it was a mistake that had not been repeated. Lessons had been learnt, and as such it was now standard policy to fully scout any system the Republic would be operating in, even for a short time, and that was especially true for inhabited systems.

“Tyla, got an reading on the on-board sensors,” Deadeye reported as he poured over the sensors. “Looks like a small contact, possibly running under some form of ECM, it appears to be heading towards Cygni IVa, through a gap in the sensor field.”

Tyla frowned and looked down at her tactical repeater, it was less detailed than her co-pilots (whose job it was to manage that sort of thing) but it gave her the gist of what was going on, which was important in a dogfight. She thumbed the speak option on her stick.

“Indefatigable, this is Hammer 24,” Tyla said as clearly as she could, knowing that this was no time for a miscommunication. “We’ve got a contact on our sensors, heading towards the moon of Cygni IV… how copy?”

A few moments of silence.

“Roger that Hammer 24, we’ve got it on sensors from the Star Destroyer Fearless, but its about to move behind the moon and out of its line of sight,” Admiral Valorous replied personally. “We think based on its vector that it came from the Mind Empire, your orders are to intercept and interrogate, we’ve got additional fighters on their way to you, and the Fearless will begin to approach the moon as well.”

“Understood, Hammer 24 out,” Tyla replied simply. “Alright boys, let’s get ready.”

With that Tyla broke off from her assigned patrol route and began to head directly for the unknown contact, pushing the throttle up to approach at high speed. On her tactical repeater she could see the markers that indicated other ARC-170s merging on the target, but none would arrive before Tyla herself. Further away she could see the transponder of the Fearless as it began to move out of orbit, able to see it even ‘through’ the moon because of that transponder (although it actually just marked on her display by telemetry rather than an actual position confirmed by sensors). At least she knew that she had back-up here, not to mention an entire Star Destroyer. Even if these Mind Empire people were more advanced than the Republic, and there was no evidence of that at this point, a ship as small as this one was rapidly becoming would not be able to stand up to a Star Destroyer.

“Entering weapons range,” Tyla commented. “Deadeye, start searching for targets for the Proton Torpedoes, Sweeper, watch our six in case this is a trap.”

Tyla nodded steadily as she listened to the two acknowledgements, then she flipped a few switches that would cause her to broadcast, in the clear, to the Mind Empire vessel.

“Attention Mind Empire vessel, this is Republic Starfighter off your starboard quarter,” Tyla said. “Cease your approach towards Cygni IV and state your intentions.”

"Commander" said First Major Thulee "The star fighter is telling the truth to its location, what shall we do?" The Malluman had a look of concern but like a reptilian statue he remained calm and awaited the commanders words.

"Patch me trough First Major, I will respond." Said Commander Rolo, he realized indeed the situation would be futile, he could not risk a fight.

Speaking to the Starfighter pilot he said: "this is Commander Rolo 26, with one Nimloth Frigate in my command. I have come here only to see what you are doing wih these sensor probes, and if there is some threat following you that we should be made aware of."

His words were sincere, and he asked the core of his concerns regarding their actions. He hoped that the ARC pilot would be as sincere.

---------

Meanwhile, in the control center of the Starbase Gomorrah, Admiral Baylock and Goldeye sat watching the screen which had a zoomed in image of Rolo's Nimloth.

"I really hope he doesn't muck this up." Said Baylock sounding impatient for the Commander to return.
With a calmer and reassuring tone to the Admiral Goldeye spake: "Admiral fear not, Rolo is adept for this task of reconnaissance, and it seems that these star fighters may give him the information he seeks."

ARC-170 Starfighter
Cygni Star System, Two Lightyears from Arcadia
Six Months AD

Tyla held her Starfighter in position behind the target vessel, keeping her sights firmly on the critical hard points that Deadeye had identified for her. She could see, both on the tactical repeaters and with her eyes, as other ARC-170s began to arrive at her position and assume similar firing positions around the frigate that had infringed upon the space around the Republics newest colony world. That was a comfort at least, she had known that initially her presence was an embodiment of the entire Battlegroup, and that if this frigate was about to become hostile then she would almost certainly have been killed, but now that more fighters were arriving not only did the chances of that frigate being destroyed increase with every one, but the chances of any individual ARC-170 being destroyed was being spread across all of them. Such was the bond between the pilots that they were all willing to descend on this target, which for all they know could be specifically designed to take on Starfighters, with the nearest warship backup still a good matter of minutes away from them. No pilot would have wanted to go up against it alone, and now they wouldn’t have to.

Tyla narrowed her eyes as she listened to the response from what had essentially just confirmed itself as a frigate. It raised several questions, but they were certainly above her pay grade at this point. She did however know what her response should be. She thumbed the talk button again.

“Commander, this is Lieutenant JG Valen, of the Republic Navy,” Tyla said simply. “The seeding of the area around a Republic planet, and the wider system, is standard operating procedure…. a pragmatic precaution against any potential interlopers.”

Tyla bit her tongue, her final comment had probably come out more pointed then she had intended. But then after all at this point this intruding frigate was the biggest potential security concern of the new Republic colony. No doubt she would get a minor lecture from her superiors when she got back on the deck, especially if this Commander made a complaint through the proper channels. But then the Admiral was probably not best pleased with them at this point, sending in their frigate could be viewed as a provocation, which was not a good sign if they were meant to be working together into the future. But all Tyla could do now was see what would happen next, she doubted it would end up in a fire fight, but her finger was hovering just above the trigger for her medium laser cannons… just in case.

The Frigate would come to an almost immediate stop generated by its forward thrusters. It would message back to Tyla:

"Forgive me Lieutenant Valen, I hope I am not seeing ghosts. I am, as may seem obvious, not entirely aware of standard Republic procedure."

Now Commander Rolo felt like an idiot, he had brought a frigate in and from the specs he could see from his viewscreen on the 05-26 there were more and more of these ARC fighters appearing. He realized that the measures were defensive for the colonies safety in general and decided he would turn back.

"I will bother your colony no further, I believe the wisest decision for me would be to turn back. Be mindful that this is not standard procedure of ours." With that closing statement the saucer like frigate spun and turned back towards the dwarf planet with the Gomorrah in orbit. Outrunning the starfighters and disappearing unless one saw with a high-powered telescope.

---------------------------------------

Having returned to the Gomorrah, Rolo entered the Sanctum of Baylock IV, where he saw Baylock, Goldeye, First Vizier Volelee, and a hologram of 2nd Vizier Hanee. Rolo knelt to the Admiral. "My lord, forgive my transgressions, in my own fear and investigation I may have soured relations with the Republic."

Baylock touched his shoulders and made him stand up: "Commander, you did act in the best interest of the Mind Empire by investigating, and I will not order punishment, just remember to not act so boldly and assume the worst. I will attempt to correct if correction need be done."

ARC-170 Starfighter
Cygni Star System, Two Lightyears from Arcadia
Six Months AD

Tyla watched as the Frigate turned and rapidly proceeded away from the Republic colony and disappeared from their concern. It was obvious from the final statement that the Mind Empire Commander was trying to make clear that he had been operating on his own initiative, no doubt in an attempt to prevent this little interlude from causing any issues. With their jobs complete the ARCs began to disperse once again, heading back to their ships. Some of them would be remaining out on a rotating patrol around the perimeter, sensor buoys were all well and good but they were not without their flaws, and in any event the sensors of an ARC-170 were superior to any sensor buoy. Tyla however was heading back to the Indefatigable, her patrol done and she’d have to write up a report on her stand-off with the Mind Empire frigate, after all even if she hadn’t been the senior officer present by the end of it, she had been the first officer on the scene and it had been her who had made the challenge, that made her responsible, even if she had been following orders from the Flag.

Soon enough Tyla was piloting her ARC-170 back through the dorsal hanger doors, by this point she was flying very slowly, taking full advantage of the long runway deck to slow down and turn smoothly into one of the ray shielded hanger compartments. Settling down onto the deck she powered down the Starfighter and ran through the post-flight checklist and popped the canopy. She handed the completed datapad to the crew chief and handed him her helmet before climbing down the ladder and onto the deck. She turned around suddenly to find herself face to face with Vice Admiral Valorous himself. She recovered quickly and saluted sharply.

“Admiral, Sir,” She said. “What can I do for you?”

“Stand easy, Lieutenant,” Valorous replied with a slight smile. “I just wanted you to know that we’ve receviewed the transcript of your exchange with the Mind Empire frigate.”

“And our conclusions, Sir?”

“That it’s a case of differing cultures, apparently what is pragmatic precautions to us isn’t the same to the Mind Empire, they probably wanted to find out what we were doing with so many ships, fighters and a eight Star Destroyers worth of sensor buoys.”

Tyla nodded thoughtfully.

“I guess that makes sense, we were at for three years, I guess we see the galaxy a little differently, especially now,” She commented. “And about their Commander making it clear that it was his own decision.”

“No doubt trying to prevent any unfortunate results coming of this entire little encounter, although its highly unlikely that their superiors didn’t know what they were up to,” Valorous replied. “However, it won’t matter in the long run, we’ve chalked it up to misunderstanding, not hostile intent.”

“I’ll get my report in as soon as possible sir,” Tyla promised.

“Don’t worry about that, get it done when you can, there is no particular rush,” Valorous replied. “You’ve been in your fighter for a good few hours, grab a shower, some chow and some rack time, paperwork will wait. Dismissed.”

“Aye-Aye, Sir,” Tyla smiled and saluted.

The Type 2 Starbases were huge by any ship or station standards, having a radius of 2.5 kilometers, and a 'height' of 1.25 kilometers. The dimensions were odd however, given the shape of this rounded donut. Within the deeper part of the Starbase was a Torus Ring that served as the main habitat of the vessel, and from here was where most of the ships functions and controls were operated. The main center of civilian and military population was also located in the ring where Gravity was easily maintained. Within the ring, in the 'hole' of the 'donut', were several arms and platforms able to operate on docked ships the size of the Leviathans, the B-5's or the Great Carriers. Around the outer part of the ring were more docking areas mainly for loading and unloading of cargo from merchant vessels. Along the hull surrounding these docking bays were located the weapons of the Starbase. On the Five 'arm' like structures of the Type 2 Starbase were the main engines as well as more defensive or offensive weaponry.

The armaments consisted of Phase Missle launchers, Plasma Turrets, and Particle Beam cannons. There were no real 'superweapons' on board the Mind Empire's starbases, the design being preferential for spread fire output and lack of dependence on any single weapon. In any case, with the current situation, there was no real need for the weapons, as the one power who had arrived so far seemed to be peaceful.

Admiral Baylock was enjoying one of the parks in the habitat ring of the Gomorrah. He was just walking around, admiring the fauna, and watching as Mallumans, Hamans, Nebulans, and Yorms walked around and enjoyed each-others company. He even noticed a small group of Kalodo had arrived from their Ecumene with their own vessel. The peace between the races in the Mind Empire was a rare and fortunate occurrence, and Baylock was happy that the ones so far present had as much social cohesion as they did. It meant peace in the Empire, stability and order.

The mining efforts on the Dwarf Planet below were going smooth from the reports. The Nebulan Cartel present and the Labor Guild of the ship had begun their strip mining processes to extract ice-water, Hydrogen-3, carbon and carbon products, among other elements. So far almost 30 million Imperial Gold worth of resources had been extracted and was being processed in Starbase's factories before being shipped by the present merchant vessels. Until they managed to finish construction of the orbital refineries though, this process would take much more time than was favored. Instead of 1 week of processing and refining, the Starbase could only do the same jobs in 3-5 weeks due to less compartment space and less specialization for specific items. The Gomorrah's refineries were much better for smaller amounts than planet strip mining brought back.

As Baylock walked through the park, he came across Volelee, his Malluman First Vizier. Greeting him the Admiral said "Volelee, how are you fairing?"

Bowing his head quickly the Vizier responded "Admiral, I fair just fine" he said smiling "will you walk with me?"

"Of course Yuj." said Baylock turning the direction that the Vizier was walking, the two entered an area that had considerable tree cover. A young Haman and two young Mallumans ran past a couple of feet ahead as they chased a frisbee.

"Admiral" said the Vizier turning to the Haman with a somewhat concerned but generally relaxed look "its been almost a day, yet we have heard nothing from that Vice Admiral Valorous, when do you think he means to send an envoy our way?"

Turning to the Vizier with a look of less concern and more calm understanding, Baylock said "Valorous and his Republic friends are probably still settling in, making whatever they need as colonial set up on their new planet. I think we should just give them time and allow them to come to us at their own pace. From Rolo's encounter with them earlier today we can tell they are concerned with keeping a step ahead of any cloaked vessels or hidden enemies. I think they must have just gotten out of a devastating war, in which case we need to be cautious and show them we mean to be allies."

"I understand Sir" said the Vizier, who then turned to some young mallumans running past with lawn-keeping equipment and yelled "Hey! Uthya! Don't hurt yourself!"

"Was that Uthya?" said the Admiral turning to look "Hes gotten so big! Is he really 5 already?"

"Oh yes" said the proud Vizier. "He and his brothers are growing up quick, before you know it Uthya may replace me as your Vizier!" he laughed.

"I think I'll be croaking before you" laughed the Admiral, "Mallumans may have only live about 60 years on average, but I'm nearly 180 now, and you've got at least another 20 years."

The two talked and laughed together some more, continueing to walk through the shaded path of trees in the park until they reached one of the ring's Command centers to monitor some of the ship systems. After this would be their sleeping hour, or Baylock's at least, as the Malluman's lived on 98 hour days.

"Sir, here are the long range scans you requested." A young lieutenant handed Fraya the paper in his hand. She took it and nodded. After six months of active combat duty, she was weary of war and so was the nation. To improve relations with the public, High Command decided to dispatch a Battlestar Group on a diplomatic and scientific mission to map more areas of space, meet new species, learn of new cultures, and to further diplomatic relations abroad. After much consideration, Battlestar Group Five under Rear Admiral Sophia Fraya was selected. She was a warrior, always had been, but she welcomed the period of rest to simply float among the stars. The ancient texts referred to us as Children of the Stars... If only they had seen this. she thought while staring out the viewing screen at the surrounding space. She looked down at the report

Mission Priority
Per mission priorities, all systems possessing habitable must be investigated. Contact with intelligent life is of the utmost importance to RoK interests.

Notes
Due to the the significant electromagnetic and radioactivity of the Scorcher style gas giant, recommendation is to perform a short range jump into the ionosphere to mask all jump signatures. All scans for civilization and electronic listening devices report negative for electronic communications.

Great, another dead system to explore. Fraya wished to find some system that had any for of life. This current system appeared to have the possibility of sustaining life, but barely. Regardless, it was something to be added to star charts, and Lords know that the Uncharted Terretories had too many blank spots in the sparse maps the Fleet could piece together.

She proceeded into the CIC and relayed her orders to the XO. The Anubis, an Orion Class Stealthstar would jump in first. After performing a detailed scan from within the gas giants cover, it would relay any information back to the group. Should there be anything that might be of interest, the rest of the group will jump in. Otherwise, the ten raptors assigned to the Anubis will collect samples and scans from each of the major features of the system and return to the ship before it returns to the fleet. Should anything intelligent be out there, she would jump the fleet in and they would make contact. Yeah, like that'll happen.

There's a flash in space and the Anubis disappears from the fleet. A microsecond later, it appears within the ionosphere of the Scorcher. And Gods was it a scorcher. Temperature was well over 1000 kelvin. Radiation and EM activity were going through the roof on the scanners as well. But a detailed scan came up with something very unusual. They weren't alone. A short direct beam trasnmission was sent back to the fleet.
We have encountered ships. Intentions unknown. Specification, unknown. Size, over 2km in length. Anubis out

"Alright, well, things are getting exciting. Set condition two throughout the ship. I want vipers in the tubes and the guns loaded. Prepare to jump." Fraya looked around and after receiving the all green reports, she gave her command "Jump."

Flashing into existence roughly 500km from the circular ship, the Battlestar Group prepared for the worst, but were well prepared for the best.

Greetings,
I am Rear Admiral Fraya of the Imperial Republic of the Remnants of Kobol. I represent our nation on a diplomatic, scientific, and exploratory mission around the galaxy to further map the many habitable systems and seek out first contact with as many previously un-encountered nations and peoples to initiate diplomatic relations with them. Should you desire it, we would be honored to meet with you. Though we are in ships of war, we mean no harm.
Regards,
Rear Admiral Sophia Fraya

Goldeye received the message from these new arrivals. Using the ships viewers to see the fleet of ships arrive, he could tell these were long range jumpers. Taking what he had to Baylocks sanctum, the orb shaped robot found the Admiral asleep. "Admiral" said the AI "We have some xenos requesting to speak to us."

"huh" said the Admiral as he turned over with a dazed look on his face, and with the understanding coming to him of what Goldeye said he woke up more and said "show me the fleet."

Seeing the group of vessels just arrived, and seeing some of the Nimloth and Sting frigates going out to examine them he said "prepare to patch me through to speak to them. What did there message say?"

"Roughly, they said they are an exploratory group, looking for diplomatic relations with other interstellar powers."

"Very well, inform the frigates they need not worry."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Battlestar formation would be greeted first by the approaching Nimloth frigates and Sting frigates coming toward them, the former numbering 10 and the latter numbering 4. The Nimloth appeared to be a large saucer about 200 meters in length, bent toward the front making it look beetle-esque. The Sting on the other hand looked like the Stinging part of a scorpion's tail and was only 100 meters in length.

These ships would take a semi-ring formation about 100 kilometers from the Battlestars before halting, after which a transmission from the round starbase would come through on their channels. If they were able, they would see a visual image.

Seeing a bald grey large headed humanoid with various small contraptions attached to his cranium and black visors over each of his eyes, they would hear him speak. Behind him floated the Goldeye AI, basically a floating ball with a yellow light bulb for an eye, and two Mallumans, large purple/brown reptiles, standing behind. One being First Vizier Volelee and then the Third Vizier Thonamee. All three of the biologicals wore skinsuits but with different trapings covering them, namely a leather vest worn by the Admiral while the Mallumans wore light power-armor.

The Admiral spoke, turning from gibberish into their own language:

Greetings Rear Admiral Fraya,

I am Admiral Baylock IV of the House of Vulcan. I am the Commanding Officer of all Mind Empire forces in the system and the discoverer of said system. I welcome you as a diplomat of my own Empire. Though dwarfed by the 1800 meter Battlestars, the formation of the much smaller ships worried Fraya. Such a formation would provide them the best firing solution over her fleet. Her fleet began to reposition into a ovular 360 firing solution to with overlaying fields of fire. If this was an the precursor to an attack, she was prepared to give them one hell of a fight.
"Launch the alert vipers. I want a fighter screen before anything happens." Fraya looked at the monitors. "Stay at Condition Two. And NO ONE bloody fires unless they shoot first, understood?" All of a sudden, they received a hail.

On the display screen, a collection of more bizarre looking beings stood a delivered a message to all of those in the CIC. There was information that non-humanoid species existed, but this was the first encounter for most of them, Fraya included. To her, these beings appeared to be less unusual than she would have thought. Realizing that they had finished speaking and her CIC was silent staring, she started to speak.

"I apologize for the shock. For most of us, we have never encountered beings other than humans or humanoids such as ourselves. This is quite a significant event for our people. We have an ambassador, Jack Halgrim, who is trained to deal with non-Kobolian allied nations. I will have him transported over in a Raptor transport craft. I must ask though, why have your vessels taken such an offensive stance against our squadron? We do not desire war."

A captain came and whispered in her ear. They had spotted other vessels, not matching the signatures of this nation. They appeared to be on par with a Battlestar Group. Looking up at the screen, Fraya spoke again.

"Admiral, I presume you are aware of the other vessels in the system? Are they allies?"

HNS Red Cloud

Ky didn't even bother looking at the other screens. Simple passive thermal cams could tell him what the entire CIC was now apparently devoted to telling him in as many different ways as possible.

Someone- actually, it looked like several someones- had just pissed all over his parade.

The six Hegemony ships had exited hyperspace over the system's largest planetary body, as per usual. The system had been subject to several robotic studies and a small previous manned mission, which had thoroughly charted it, and indicated that this gas giant, which they'd designated NCS-112A, had a number of moons that would be suitable for colonization and, perhaps someday, paraterraformation. A transport, a mining and construction ship, a destroyer loaded with some cargo, a small colony ship, an electronic warfare frigate serving as a logistics hub, and the Red Cloud, a cruiser, had been dispatched to settle on several of the gas giant's moons, starting dome habitats, setting up the necessary industrial sites to ensure the colonies could maintain themselves. They were also going to set up a small refueling station and base, where Hegemony ships passing through this far-flung frontier could rest and take on supplies.

It was all going to be very easy, very boring, and very calm, and nothing that Ky couldn't handle.

Now, of course, it appeared a half a million alien factions were prancing around chatting with one another, which Ky had really not been anticipating.
Lieutenant Díaz was at his side practically as soon as the murmurs of surprise swept the Red Cloud's CIC.
"Commodore, we've got several-"
"Thank you, Lieutenant Obvious. Thankfully no Qián or Khayan ships, but that's hardly a comfort." Ky looked around the CIC. "Miller? If the other ships aren't seeing this, tell them."
The tall spaceborn comms officer nodded curtly, her cropped white-blond hair glowing blue in the light of the various screens. "And to the aliens?"
"Nothing. If they care about what we're doing, they'll contact us. We'll proceed as planned. You'll inform the rest of the squadron; Díaz, set course for PCS-1."
"Yessir."

Around a minute after arriving, the six Hegemony ships lit their fusion motors and went streaking towards Cygni-f's largest moon, releasing a huge signal flag of superheated plasma behind them.

FSS Enterprise

Picard wondered. Looking towards the stars, thinking about life. Suddenly, SLAM!!! Picard was thrown out of his chair, knocking a Ensign over. "Sir. We just came out of warp." "Ugh... Set a course for the planet we targeted....yes. Cyni 3 or something?" The Impulse Drives were activated and they set a course for Cygni III. "Sir." "Yes?" "We have detected many vessels, many of them with a aggressive posture." "Uh huh. Any allies?" "Yes. The Kobolians are here." ''Set a course for their fleet. Hail the Admiral." "Yessir."

"Admiral Fraya, we have just moved into position, 200km off your port bow." Picard put the microphone down. Suddenly, they were hailed by Fraya. "Picard, I know what you are doing, but there are warships out here. Raise your alert." "Yes." Picard then took the microphone up. "All hands... BATTLE STATIONS! YELLOW ALERT!"

The Remnants of Kobol wrote:"I apologize for the shock.

"And I apologize for my vessels approach Rear Admiral Fraya. Your ships are large and presumably have the necessary defenses on them, I had to take precautions."

Turning his head to the floating robot he nodded, and Fraya and her command crew would notice the ships that came into close range with their ships departed back for the doughnut shaped starbase.

"They are returning to their posts, though I must give you fair precaution, space can be a dangerous place. Even so I assure you that you have our support, and the next time you see our ships so close they shall be your allies. Please do send your ambassador to us, our docking bays are open to your shuttle."

Responding after her brief pause he said "Indeed, we are aware of some of the other powers present. Namely the Republic of Arcadia who has set up a preliminary outpost on Cyngi d. Now we have detected another power recently who has come to rest around the gas Giant Cygni F, and we cannot seem to make contact with them just yet."

Seeing the new arrivals, he said to the Admiral: "I hope this new fleet of ships is associated with you on peaceful terms, I do not want a conflict."

The Anacovian fleet has jumped into the system hoping to find minerals and a place to colonize. After their home world of Naiyma was destroyed in a super nova the last Anacovians have been roving the universe for a place to colonize. Upon receiving the signal sent by an unknown fleet the Anacovian have sent two frigates as scouts. The frigates Aleswen and Royal have been put under control of Commander Alex Hammann. An Anacovian Frigate has 3 meters of tungsten-B armour and shielding. Weaponry aboard the ship is a MAC, 10 Achilles missile pods, and 2 Demry nuclear class missiles. On board is one hangar bay that contains two shortstops fighters and two Vulture class fellowships.

Commander the system wide com array is up.
Good job corporal, prep to send out message to any ships in system, also ready MAC rounds and arm missile tubes A-C in case of hostiles.
This is Commander Hammann of the Anacovian Navy, our home planet has been destroyed and we are looking for a place to colonize.

You do realize I said Open w/ Application. That means do not post till an application is up. Now I'm going to let this one slide, so long as you do make an application.

The Admiral Baylock, currently busy with two other fleets, sends out Second Vizier Hanee in his B-5 battlecruiser, as well as with 2 Nimloth frigates to investigate the signal coming from these new arrivals. The Second Vizier was a more hands on commander, and was usually not far from his vessel the Micosukee. Hanee ordered his ships to approach slowly, so as not to startle these frigates.

He told the Micosukee's AI to send a signal to these vessels. The ship's AI responded in kind and patched him through.
In the message, the two frigates captains would see a large saurian creature with purple-brown skin and scales and with red eye-ridges. He wore a skinsuit and a black thick uniform.

Code: Select all
-- To Commander Hammann of the Anacovian Navy---

I am Second Vizier Hanee, a sub-commander of Admiral Baylock IV who sends his regards. You may settle Cygni e without incident, as no other powers have made a claim to it. I hope this world will be a good choice for your people settlement. If you wish to talk diplomacy with our Admiral, you may send your ambassadors to the Starbase Gomorrah to meet with us. We can also offer you assistance if need be.

"Our people humbly thank you our trek has been long and our losses great when the rest of our fleet arrives you will see the state of my people. For we are all that is left."
The commander walked down from the bridge. Before he left he told the crew to send the all clear signal to the fleet. Alex would like to take one of the vultures down to the surface to find an area for the main base. A vulture can hold 15 men, their gear, and RAAV in the back.
"Commander we are all ready to go down, the air is breathable so we should be fine."
"All right, let's get ready for takeoff."
The vulture soon blasted out of the hanger bay and started the descent to the surface.

"We are most certainly prepared for combat, this is a Battlestar Group after all. We understand your necessary precautions, though in the future, communication before action might serve to alleviate some concerns." Fraya looked to the DRADIS console where the blips began to move further from her group. "As for the dangers of space, we've been among the stars for several thousand years. Our war with the Cylons has been ongoing for just as long. We can send a data packet on them over, they are an extremely hostile race, though mostly just to humans. May you never have to meet them. As for the dangers here, what can you tell us?" She was cut off before getting a response by the shout "DRADIS CONTACTS!"

"Excuse me for a moment." She turned to the operators. "Brief me."

"We've got the Pacificans, they jumped in right on top of us. No surprise there. We thought they were following one jump behind... But we've got some new signals. Unknown origin. Just jumped in right on top of the Anubis. I don't think they've spotted her... They're not registering her anyway."

"Alright, send them a hail. We need to find out what's going on." She turned back to the screen. "I apologize for that Admiral. I presume you also saw the two new fleets appear. The first, right on top of us are allies. We are unaware of the origins of the second fleet however. Again, I apologize, but I believe it is best to send Ambassador Halgrim over. He's trained for diplomacy. I'm just a soldier."

Cutting the communication with the new nation as Halgrim's raptor headed for their docking bay, Fraya ordered four raptors to scout the new contacts. Two to approach the contacts that just appeared, and two to scout the contacts that had been here when they showed up.
