"The Spark That Ignites A Fire"

Before 1980, the relations between Wraland and Guerro were neutral to positive, despite being completely different governments. This was caused by Guerro's "Friends if not threatened" policy that is still in effect today. However, in 1980, Wralands leads President Egar died, leaving the government unstable and eventually collapsed, turning Wraland into an Anarchy. Guerro occupied the eastern part of the country, despite violating the FINT policy, and fought the Communist party that has risen up to try and bring back the dictatorship Chaiman Egar had formed. An Anti-Communist party had risen up to, and this caused the Wralandic Civil War. The Communists eventually won due to Guerro becoming Socialist, and them backing out of the war in 1995. However, Guerro went back to their former government when there economy almost crashed due to the new government. Since then, relations between Wraland and Guerro were tense, creating one of the most tense rivalries in Atlas history. At one point, Wraland built a wall on the border of Wraland and Guerro to prevent Wralandic civilians from escaping into Guerro. That almost created a war, but fortunately it didn't. However, with the release of this on Wralandic Newspaper:

This would be the final straw, one that creates something that's been expected for years.

President Kilson Gutier released this statement in response to the news: "If you continue to expand your military, you will be the spark that ignites a fire. Please, for the sake of both out people, limit your military."

Wraland responded with this:

It is on this grave day, when Wraland faces more threats than it has ever since the civil war. A conflict with Estenia still looms on the horizon, only because of our expansion of military... And now... Guerro.

The leader of Guerro has plead me to halt the expansion and upgrading of our proud military. But what is into it for us? What will it do to benefit us? NOTHING! It is blatant imperialism by this vile populace that is our eastern neighbour! No more! No more shall we suffer! Today, we will liberate our nations and show the world what POWER Wraland beholds!

The populace claps. They all know what lies ahead... A war. A war that will decide the future of the two nations of Wraland and Guerro.

Today, President Gutier will speak in front of the people on this, and whether or not there will be a war.

Greetings everyone.

We have been monitoring the situation between Guerro and Wraland for quite some time now, and I feel it is time to make a statement about it. While we will not intervene militarily at this time, we will be intervening diplomatically. I hereby call for a ceasefire between the two warring nations of Guerro and Wraland, and seek to improve relations somehow. Though, if Guerro is invaded and needs help, we will not be afraid to intervene militarily against Wraland. Let this be a warning to Chairman Fredorik and other heads of government in Wraland, that any more hostilities against our allies will be met with serious resistance from New Austzeland and the IFA.

We respect your condemnation of this war - but it has nothing to do with you. The Allied States of Guerro has openly declared war on The Wralic Republic, it is our duty to respond with our might. It is our act of self-defence, and Guerro has bringed it upon themselves. I warn you, intervening militarily in Wraland will not have good results for you. We will not sign a peace agreement with Guerro for the time being but we might with New Austzeland, if you would wish to do so.

GNN - In reply to the military increase in The Wralic Republic, Guerro has brought upon war between the two historically hostile nations. In the past weeks, The Wralic Republic has diverted billions of dollars to military funding, at the cost of more humane policies. The Wralic Republic declares the IFA to be fascist, only increasing tensions and angering the people of Guerro, who have a strong self-pride. The people of Guerro, especially the government, are very loyal and patriotic. It is this personality that has triggered a conflict between the two nations.

As Globus and Guerro are members of the IFA, a military protection alliance, it has been widely speculated that Globus would be siding with Guerro and that the military would be on the move soon. Those speculations have since been shot down after a surprising statement that President Comte issued this afternoon.

"I condemn both the Wralic Republic and The Allied States of Guerro, for causing such a pointless conflict, that threatens civilians on both sides. The Wralic Republic has diverted billions of dollars to the military, where it should be spent on more practical things, like health or education, for the people. The Allied States of Guerro has let their self-pride drive them into this war. They claim the war was caused by the Wralic Republic when in reality they are bloodthirsty. As a member-state of the IFA it is Globus' duty to defend, again I say, defend another member from an attacker. In this case, Guerro is the attacker, and they have brought this war upon themselves. Because of this, Globus will not aid Guerro in their war caused by their ego. However, I will help the innocent civilians on both sides. We will set up refugee camps here in Globus, courtesy of the Healing Hand. Naval forces will escort a Healing Hand Humanitarian Aid ship to the conflict zone near Guerro, to aid those who have been displaced by the war. I must express my disdain towards the actions taken by Guerro. I am appalled that you have so quickly taken these actions, and so drastically, on the Wralic Republic. And for what, I ask. Think about the cost this war will have on your economy as well. A country who cherished their people would see to it that war is avoided at all costs, and only use the military to defend their sovereign land. You might expect me to intervene because we are allies under the IFA, which is true. However, Globus is only alleged to intervene if your were being attacked. In this conflict, that is not the case. As this is a conflict zone, the naval escort is necessary. I expect that this can be done without conflict on your part, being that we are brought together by the IFA. My friend, it pains me to think that the relations between our nations have so quickly degraded, but as the father of humanism, it is my duty to protect and serve the people of the world. I hope you can understand.

As a member of the IFA's executive council (our chief ambassador Seward is their foreign minister) and a multitude of other alliances, we call upon both nations to stand down and move back from the brink. We offer to host a diplomatic conference at our capital Astaria to resolve tensions. The best chance for peace is now, before the war truly begins. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 - Following the recent declaration of war by the Allied States of Guerro in response to a military buildup by the Wralic Republic, the Luepolan senate recently voted, with a 74% majority, to support Guerro by declaring war on Wraland. Luepolan forces have already been mobilized: Airborne divisions, most likely from the Expeditionary forces, will airlift forces to Guerran territory, and will be followed by a large army group. Current battle plans are unknown at this time, and, according to Generalissimo Karelin, will be kept secret until 'the time is right', for security purposes. This comes after a long-lasting buildup of tensions between the Wralic Republic and Guerro. Tensions reached an all-time low recently, following the buildup of the Wralic military. Wraland's refusal of Guerro's demands to halt buildup and growth of her armed forces, led Guerro to declare war.

Guerro and Wraland are two militarily powerful countries. It is predicted that, by themselves, the Guerran Navy will achieve superiority quickly, whereas the Wralic Air Force will likely reign dominant. Infantry and Armored strengths are unknown at this time. The collective strength of the Luepolan Ground and Expeditionary Forces is great, however, and the Luepolan Air Force performs notably well. Should the Luepolan Ground Force be able to flex their full strength in this conflict, the fight on the ground will likely see a victory for Luepola, Guerro, and their allies.

However, this conflict will likely end neither easily nor quickly. Animosity between Guerro and the Wralic Republic has been fueled for 20 years, and have recently exploded. This may possibly become a full-scale war. Some communities even circulate the belief that it could evolve into a multi-front or even region-encompassing conflict, although few credible sources and persons back up or share this belief at the time.

Wraland orders closing of Airspace

The Wralic Republic has ordered the entire airspace over Wralandic territory and all waters 100 kilometers away from coast to be indefinetlely closed for foreign, non-approved aircraft. This is to make it harder for nations like Luepola to transport large amounts of soldiers without taken extensive round-aways. The Wralandic Navy is also greatly patrolling the waters of Wraland. Why do they think it's ''small?'' It's not, and noone should take it lightly. Wraland stands alone in this war, and can only depend on itself. If someone's going to kill us, it shall only be by Guerro.

A foreign airplane has already been shot down over Wralandic waters. It's origin is unkown, but it is believed to be from either New Austzeland, Luepola or Valaran.

While we will not be joining Wraland in the war, we would like to state that if they are defeated, that their exiled government will be welcome in Cyllea. Wralandic Airforce battles Guerroan Airforce

The Wralandic Airforce has started operations against the Guerroan Airforce. Goals are to keep them out of Wralandic territory for the time being.
The Wralandic Airforce is mighty in numbers and equipment, and should not be kidded with. The Ministry of Defence has stated that the airspace above Wraland's territory will keep being closed for normal aircraft for indefinite time.
Meanwhile, in Valaran, the Wralandic representative to the peace conference has arrived and is ready to start negotiating with the Guerroans.

Calls for Peace & deescalation

In response to the announcement of military action by Wraland, the Prime minister James Alstan of the Valaran Empire calls for restraint and a deescalation of tensions by both nations. He also calls for confirmation of the plane that was shot down over Wralic airspace so that the bodies of the deceased can be sent back to their relatives in their nation's of origin. However, Alstan added that he will respond to any act of aggression with full force should the situation merit it. However, to display his commitment to peace, he has currently refused to mobilize any of his own military forces, unless the situation escalates further.

Senior Ambassador Seward, patiently waits for the other delegates to arrive.
He was not hopeful for the conference, but this was the best of chance of peace, and by acclaim in the Valaran foreign office, he was thought to be the best man to even attempt such talks. Thus, he was stuck here on a grey morning, with light rain pattering outside.

"What the hell is going on with this region? First their are seperatist movements and terrorist acts in Paldavia, Bratislav. Then more terrorist attacks are occurring around the region. Luckily, Giliberafta has stopped have terrorist attacks from the Dictator Alliance, a political party and a terrorist group that wants to "purify" the nation with a dictatorship. But now, we have two nations that were able to find peace for decades engaging into a war. Wraland has not only made war with Guerro, nor the IFA military, but now the nation has made war with Giliberafta. We see no purpose just to sit and watch as our allies crumble. After the statement was made, 9/10 of the United Parliament voted to declare war on Wraland. Prime Minister Randy Moss and General Zachary Quinta have sent messages to Guerro to discuss of diplomacy action and of military strategies.

After the statement was made, 9/10 of the United Parliament voted to declare war on Wraland. Prime Minister Randy Moss and General Zachary Quinta have sent messages to Guerro to discuss of diplomacy action and of military strategies.

You may have heard that the Federal Parliamentary Republic of Giliberafta has declared war on Wraland. I am sending you this message to advise you to use extension use of our military. We have a powerful army and a powrful airforce. Our nation's General may discuss with our General Zachary Quinta for any military strategies or tactics you will like to use in war. Our nation hopes we can end this rivalry between your nation and Wraland, and hope to secure peace for future generations.

I would politely request that you reconsider this declaration of war. We were trying to deescalate tensions between Guerro and Wraland, and this makes it somewhat harder to achieve. Obviously we understand your intention to defend an ally (after all we would likely do the same if a nation attacked you), but the better option in this case would be negotiations to resolve tensions peacefully.

Also, I extend an invitation for a Giliberaftan delegation to come to the peace conference in Astaria.

The Prime Minister is not able to speak with you as of right now, but he sent me, the new Secretary of State, Jon bon Jovi, to send you the following: The Prime Minister is reconsidering to withdraw his declartion of war, but once the Prime Minister makes up his mind, it is very difficult to change it.
