A TUP Resource

ENCYCLOPEDIA GALACTICA, a compendium of knowledge gathered by civilizations of the galaxy. The Encyclopedia seeks to provide information on all available subjects, including geography, history, culture, technology, astronomy, and more. Maintained by an ancient race living near the galactic center, now known only as the "Encyclopedists," the Encyclopedia Galactica is now in its 689th edition.

Hey guys! Welcome to the Encyclopedia Galactica. This will be a companion project to The Universe Project, allowing us to store public information accumulated over the course of our RPs. The EG will serve as a repository of common information from the RP universe, which all players can draw from. Such information can include NPC civilizations that are discovered, unclaimed planets or other astronomical phenomena, important events such as battles or conferences, descriptions of flora and fauna, or just about anything else you can think of.

The EG will be composed of your entries, so please feel free to post. The format will be very simple, just follow the example above. Also, please include pictures or infographics whenever you wish, they are always appreciated. Additionally, for ease of reading and searching, please only one entry per post.

We'll be using a tag system to make searching the archive easier. Please include whatever tags you find appropriate, but to keep them organized and standard, I ask that you submit any new ones you use to me so I may include them in the OP.

To begin with, here are a few tags.

#civilization
#species
#planet
#star
#animal
#plant
#city
#starship
#event
#religion
#organization

Welcome to Pavlo's all comprehensive guide to the ships of the Pavlostani military. Divided into two branches, the Fleet, our exploratory and scientific force, and the Armada, our war fighting defense force:

Fleet:

Image
Star Cruiser.

The Traveler Class starship is the most advanced vessel in the Pavlostani Fleet.

Traveler Class warp cores utilize a cyclic antimatter-matter reaction chamber coupled with dilithium and trilithium crystals.

Traveler Class ships carry fifteen phaser arrays and ten torpedo bays, as well as dozens of individual phaser banks and two plasma cutting beams. They are typically equipped with photon, quantum, gravimetric, transphasic and tricobalt torpedoes. They carry multiphasic adaptable shielding as well as ablative armor.

Traveler Class ships can reach up to fifteen lightyears per hour without risking damage to the ship and to the spacetime continuum.

Two Traveler Class Star Cruisers are in service, the PSS Traveler-F and the PSS Galaxy. The Traveler is the flagship of the Fleet.

Image
Deep Space Vessel

The Enterprise Class is one of the newest models of starship in the Pavlostani Fleet. It utilizes Kherovian Ring to safely create a warp bubble around the vessel while causing major distortions to spacetime around the ship. Enterprise Class vessels are the only ships in the Pavlostani Fleet capable of reaching twenty lightyears per hour. Enterprise ships utilize a tricyclic warp core with an antimatter-matter reaction chamber coupled with dilithium and trilithium crystals.

Enterprise Class ships carry two phaser arrays and two torpedo bays and typically are equipped with photon torpedoes. They carry multiphasic shields as well as temporal shielding systems.

Image
Science Vessel

The Endeavor Class vessel is five years into service and has given some of the most promising scientific data to the Pavlostani Federation. Endeavor Class ships carry spatially geometric warp nacelles and a powerful warp core capable of reaching 15 lightyears per hour. Endeavor Class warp cores are antimatter-matter reaction chambers coupled solely with dilithium crystals.

Endeavor Class vessels carry four phaser arrays and three torpedo bays. They are typically equipped with photon, gravimetric, transphasic and tricobalt torpedoes. Endeavor Class vessels carry multiphasic shields as well as ablative armor.

The Endeavor Class is notable for being able to withstand major subspace distortions and typically is used to study anomalies such as black holes, supernovae and exotic nebulae.

Image
Exploratory Vessel

Odyssey Class vessels are tried and tested. They are cheap to manufacture and have proven to be remarkably effective. Odyssey Class ships are the mainstay of explorers and form the bulk of the Fleet.

Odyssey Class vessels are equipped with two phaser banks and two torpedo bays. They are solely equipped with photon torpedoes. Odyssey Class vessels typically carry standard issue deflector shields.

Odyssey Class warp cores are antimatter-matter reaction chambers coupled solely with dilithium crystals. They have a maximum speed of 10 lightyears per hour.

Image
Temporal Vessel

Eon Class vessels are designed to manipulate time. Time travel is forbidden by the Pavlostani and these vessels rarely see use. More often, they are used to monitor past and future astronomical events rather than actually travel through time.

Eon Class vessels utilize antimatter-matter reaction chambers coupled with dilithium and trilithium. They also carry temporal drives.

Eon Class vessels carry four phaser banks and two torpedo bays. They typically carry quantum torpedoes.

Image
Metaphasic Vessel

Solar Class starships are designed to enter the corona of a star to study it or retrieve materials such as hydrogen.

Solar Class starships carry four phaser arrays and six torpedo bays. They are equipped with photon torpedoes. They carry metaphasic shielding to survive close proximity to the star.

Solar Class starships utilize antimatter-matter reaction chambers coupled with dilithium and trilithium crystals.

Armada:

Image
Star Dreadnought

The Protector Class Star Dreadnought is the most powerful ship in the Pavlostani Armada. It is the most heavily armed, shielded, and armored vessel in the Pavlostani Navy.

The Protector Class Star Dreadnought utilizes a mass conversion chamber. The lack of a need to produce antimatter for the vessel creates a power source twice as efficient as previous reaction chambers. The new design is additionally far safer than keeping antimatter on the ship.

The Protector Class Star Dreadnought carries over sixty disruptor banks and twenty phaser arrays, as well as fifteen torpedo bays. The Protector Class typically carries photon, quantum, tricobalt, gravimetric, antimatter and thalaron torpedoes.

The Protector Class carries an extremely powerful cloaking device capable of stifling all tachyon emissions and power syphons, making the vessel nigh undetectable while cloaked.

Image
Battle Cruiser/Carrier

The Eviscerator Class Battle Cruiser is a large, well rounded warship. It possesses powerful shield and weapon systems, but has been criticized for being unwieldy in combat due to its immense size.

The Eviscerator Class Battle Cruiser utilizes a cyclic antimatter-matter reaction chamber, coupling energy release with dilithium crystals.

The Eviscerator Class Battle Cruiser carries twenty disruptor banks and twelve phaser arrays, as well as twenty turbolaser turrets. In addition to energy weapons, the Eviscerator Class Battle Cruiser has fifteen torpedo bays, capable of utilizing photon, quantum, gravimetric and proton torpedoes.

Eviscerator Class ships also carry hanger bays from which strike craft can be launched.

Eviscerator Class Battle Cruisers normally utilize a flagship position in an armada.

Image
Multi-Vector Assault Ship

The Deceiver Class Multi-Vector Assault ship is an experimental warship with two in service by the Pavlostani Armada. It is one of the few Kherov-Type vessels in the Armada, carrying a saucer section and warp nacelles.

The Deceiver Class Multi-Vector Assault Ship is designed to separate into three separate vessels, each of which carries four phaser arrays and two torpedo bays. While unseparated, the Deceiver Class can utilize six phaser arrays and four torpedo bays.

This may or may not be a work in progress.

Starships
Ordered from smallest to largest, the Starships of the infamous Arkhadya's Space Fleets.

The Spirit-Class Fighter is an all-around fighter-bomber employed by the Arkhadyan Space Fleets and a number of Plutocratic Family's Merchant Defense Fleets, not to mention a plethora of Arkhadyan Pirate Groups that permeate Arkhadyan space and beyond. Made by Penance Foundries, the Spirit is heavily armed, and represents the Arkhadyan military outlook in general, with heavy armaments, medium armour, and average speed and maneuvering. Despite their weaknesses, the Spirit-Class fighter is admired throughout Arkhadyan space and beyond as a versatile and deadly fighter that can deal large amounts of damage to enemy targets, large ships or smaller fighters.

Armed with four undermounted miniature Mass Drivers, which employ magnetic friction to lob metal spikes, usually made out of tungsten or an equivalent heavy material, towards the enemy. While certainly less versatile than other equivalent armaments, such as, but not limited to, repeating lasers or something similar, but they are able to do much more damage at the expense of a smaller payload and a longer cycle rate between shots. These mass drivers have a much larger range than their peers, but take much longer to reload and cycle.

Furthermore, the Spirit is armed with two much larger cannons that are very versatile in what they can be loaded with. Any spatial weapon in the Arkhadyan armoury, including, but not limited to, missiles, larger-calibre Mass Drivers, and even small Nuclear Warheads for atmospheric or close-quarters' spatial battle, they are most commonly used with a Plasma armament. This plasma, which is superheated, is extremely effective both against certain types of shields, being able to overload them relatively quickly, as well as what's underneath. Arkhadyan Plasma, occasionally referred to as Arkhadyan Fire, tears through most metals, and exists for quite a long time after impacting against a surface.

The Abrogation-Class Dedicated Bomber, often referred to as the ACDB, is a starship that is deployed more often in atmospheric or one-sided spatial battles. The ACDB is one of the older ships within the Arkhadyan repertoire, and is infamous for being quite slow and unwieldy, making an easy target without escort. However, its payload is devastating. Most often armed with either high-yield Arkhadyan Plasma Containers, which impact upon their target and burn for more than a minute, more, if it catches anything flammable. It tears through metal, though is sometimes stopped by shields that are skilled at stopping slow-moving projectiles. They are also often armed with Nuclear Devices, which are devastating against ships whose shields are down or compartments have been exposed to the vacuum, allowing the device to expand in the gases that are within the target's corridors, occasionally lighting all of the corridors alight with a nuclear glow. Of course, these circumstances are rare, and, more often than not, are performed upon already-dying ships.

The ACDB is not defenseless, either. While it is more often than not paired with Spirits for escort, the Abrogation is also armed with a dual-Mass Driver turret that is either A.I or manually controlled.

The Dereliction-Class Corvette is the smallest "big ship" within the Arkhadyan Space Fleet. It is mainly used for stellar patrols, or to provide cover fire for their larger ships-of-the-line to get into position or range of the enemy in battle. It is armed with a bank of kinetic weapons, all of which are designed to be rather powerful against enemy fighters or bombers, as well as a large Magnetically-Accelerated Cannon at the very front of the ship, useful for taking out larger ships, though, more often than not, the corvette is destroyed or damaged before it can employ it.

Referred to as "death boxes" by those who work on them, the Dereliction Class is the second longest serving Arkhadyan Ship, after the ACDB bomber. The Dereliction carries a crew of eighty and is six hundred meters in length. While captains often adopt names for their corvettes, they are referred to by their squadron designation in the Arkhadyan BattleNet rather than their personal names, unlike the rest of the Arkhadyan Space Fleet.

Military Ranks

The Arkhadyan Military is broken up into numerous branches, but there are four main ones. There are the Servicemen, referred to in Arkhadyan as Xanag'bu, the Spatial Servicemen, referred to as the Tykaag'Eteg, the Arkhadyan equivalent of Spatial Marines, referred to as the Xanag'ghu, and the smallest branch, the Orok'xiosh Cadre, who was dedicated to the preservation of the lives of the most important Arkhadyans.

The Xanag'bu is the branch of the military that has to do with battling in atmospheric conditions, such as on planets, or acting as garrisons on installations or other asteroid defenses, such as the Maw.

Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

THE GOLDEN PATH, a religion worshiped primarily by the residents of the Serritian League. The Golden Path (GP) focuses on the worship of the Serritian Goddess-Ancestor R'yatt, addressed as Mother R'yatt by worshipers. The code of ethics laid down by R'yatt are contained in the 'Holy Books,' these are a series of works detailing R'yatt's life and teachings, as well as commentary by Sages over the centuries. The faith prescribes a path of nonviolence towards all living beings, and emphasizes spiritual independence and equality between all forms of life. Practitioners believe that nonviolence and self-control are the means by which they can obtain liberation.

Although every life-form is said to deserve protection from injury, the GP admits that this ideal cannot be completely implemented in practice. Hence it proscribes a hierarchy of life that gives less protection to non-sentient beings than sentient ones, and the greatest deal of protection to sapient beings. Nonetheless, the GP teaches that violence in self-defense can be justified. GP communities accept the use of military power for their defense. In extreme cases the GP prescribes a practice known as Biratz. Biratz can be translated into Galactic Standard as ‘Jihad’ or ‘Crusade.’ It is potentially a call for holy war, to punish those who refuse to accept the sanctity of life.

The GP calls for worshipers to protect life, in all its forms, whenever possible. This ethic encourages Serritians to engage in terraforming projects, to spread their own species wide and provide safe haven for refugees and endangered species. Another important practice is veneration of the ancestors. The GP teaches that this practice is respectful and reminds the worshiper of the moral successes and failures others have made.

The GP is headed by the Council of Sages, which is in turn headed by the Arch-Sage. Sterile Hive Queens, a condition caused genetically, are expected to become Sages. The Sages act as religious councilors, advising Hive Queens on spiritual matters. Additionally, they fulfill some government functions that the consensus democracy can’t, such as diplomacy and military command.

The Council also interprets the pronouncements of the Oracle. The Oracle is a Hive Queen, of a particular lineage, who produces no hive, despite being capable. The Serritians believe that the Oracle has access to the genetic memories of all her ancestors, and receives prophecies from Mother R'yatt. The League will always consult the Oracle when making important decisions. The Council maintains thousands of unfulfilled prophecies in its library, often consulting them when unexpected events occur.

The Golden Path is open to a high degree of syncretizism. The Froles and Agacasi, client species of the Serritians, have each melded their traditional beliefs with the GP. Froles previously followed a non-theistic religion that focused on the achievement of mental tranquility by the removal of destructive emotions. They have combined the latter belief with the GP, bringing in the practice of meditation and an ethic of stoicism. The Agacasi are a primitive species, and have conflated the worship of Mother R'yatt with a preexisting Sun God. They practice grain sacrifices to holy Mother.

Tantalan Aerospace Vessels: Active Service

Image

The AziLoz BC-1000 Century Cargo bomber-transport is a twenty-three year old surface-to-aerospace bomber design conceived by the Aziz-Lizoz Design Bureau a quarter century ago. It is an early-generation, radar-resistant stealth bomber-transport conforming to CNT-titanium construction standards and capable of taking off from a long runway. The vessel is equipped with an undernose-mounted auto cannon with retractable stealth shielding as well as missile tubes within the wing. Its broad, blunt undersurface allows it to perform planetary reentry and land like a conventional space shuttle. Comes equipped with two Alcubierre drives as well for short- to mid-range interstellar transport, and is powered by a miniaturized fusion generator in the engine compartment. MHD thrusters allow for conventional in-atmospheric propulsion as well as orbital flight when using deuterium gas as the MH propellant. - See more at: http://s953.photobucket.com/user/Unknow ... BJzGd.dpuf

The BC-1000 Century Cargo's weaknesses include poor atmospheric maneuverability as well as reduced payload capacity due to its landing-capable nature. The lack of turrets may also complicate point-range defense matters should a BC-1000 run into an enemy interceptor.

Image

The C-70 Skyferry is a 151 year old transport design conceived by an extinct development bureau during the Second Apollon Republic epoch. The C-70 is perhaps the last Tantalan airframe built almost entirely from non-CNT alloys, with titanium making up almost sixty-five percent of the airframe's composition. Its light armor and poor armament limits the C-70's use to civilian and low-level conflict, depending almost entirely on P-3 Skyfighters or other escort craft for its safety. Four electric-driven propellers feeding from supercapacitor banks power the C-70 with flight times ranging from six to seven hours, making the C-70 a moderate endurance cargo craft even if aircraft elsewhere in the galaxy fly for dramatically longer times.

Unique to the Tantalans is that the C-70 is probably one of few pre-Fission era designs composed of prefabricated components that allows for the C-70's dismantling, transport, and reconstruction elsewhere. It is likely that the C-70 will be brought to another planet in such a manner and serve as a colonial patrol craft should the Tantalans settle another planet.

The C-70's armaments, as mentioned earlier, are poor. A pre-Unification chaff release system dating back two hundred years ago might provide for some protection against tailing aerospace fighters, but the C-70 can be easily demolished by a direct DEW strike. The C-70 can hold some twenty-two passengers or a comparable mass of materiel in its pressurized air cabin.

Image

The P-3 Skyfighter is a forty-three year old surface-to-air interceptor design conceived by the 494E54 Bureau a half century ago. It is an obsolescent CNT-titanium airframe intended for use as a high-speed, low altitude air superiority fighter against atmospheric-penetrating pirate fighters. Powered by a high-explosive release thruster relying on hydrazine chains and atmospheric oxygen, the P-3 is the last example of Tantalan explosive-propelled aircraft before MHD thrusters achieved their desired performance some fifteen years after the P-3's introduction. Armaments include two hard points for air-to-aerospace missile pods, an internal bomb bay capable of housing another weapons pod and/or lidar tracker, and a rotary auto-cannon mounted below the nose in an aerodynamic compartment.

The P-3 Skyfighter is currently limited to atmospheric operations, but ongoing developments to produce a medium surface-to-aerospace fighter may retire the P-3 in as little as six years from the present. Weaknesses with the P-3 Skyfighter include flight instability, but this has been remedied with its fly-by-spintronic avionics package; as well as the absence of emissions countermeasures systems such as electromagnetism-resistant paint.

Image

The P-2x Interceptor was a fifty-one year old surface-to-air interceptor design conceived by the 494E54 Bureau six decades ago. It featured a CNT-titanium airframe intended for the same role as its successor- the P-3- but was eventually phased out prematurely due to stability issues. It was powered by the same family of engines the P-2x's successor used, and the P-2x's armaments included a similar rotary autocannon as well as four wing-mounted hardpoints for air-to-aerospace missiles and their tracking pods.

The P-2x Interceptor is retired as of the present day. Some sixty specimens are stored in applied science museums across Tantalus, twenty of which are visible to the public. No known P-2x Interceptors are held in private collections.

Image

This is the Tantalan humans' first exoatmospheric-capable interceptor and the second Tantalan aerospacecraft after the BC-1000. Its range is limited to planetary orbit, though.

The XP-211 Star Raider is an experimental CNT-titanium aerospacecraft currently under construction by the 494E54 Bureau and scheduled to make its introduction in six years- or sooner if the Tantalan monarchy foresees conflict before then. The XP-211 addresses the P-3's flight instability by bringing back a conventional trapezoidal airfoil while improving upon the AziLoz Specialist Avionics Package's spintronic control over the FCSs. A single MHD-ion thruster drives the XP-211 with assistance from the vessel's VTOL-capable lifting fan, and numerous vectoring ports along the vessel's wings and fuselage enable improved maneuverability in space. In short, the XP-211 Star Raider can change its orientation in atmospheric and exoatmospheric environments with relative ease, and the XP-211's sensor-communications suite allows for accurate BVR combat ranges up to 146 kilometers away.

Four rotary hardpoints on the XP-211 break away from earlier philosophies emphasizing fixed-forward, aerodynamic hardpoints in favor of superior missile coverage during long-range engagements. At lower airspeeds within a planetary environment, the XP-211's rotary hardpoints are fixed forward by default and are, with certain exceptions, freely controllable only when the craft's barometers detect atmospheric pressures below their maximum values. Each hardpoint may contain either an individual missile, weapons pod, or target tracking pod to be used in support with other XP-211s' devices to maintain aerospace superiority.

With regards to stealth capability, the XP-211 features an RCS diameter of 0.665 meters, limiting its utility to evading the most basic pirate fighters' avionics package (Not to mention, the XP-211 lacks active optical camouflage). However, the XP-211 includes a chaff release system loaded with five decoys per sortie, increasing the Tantalan fighter's survivability just long enough to either launch a second salvo of missiles or cannon fire, or perform a tactical retreat from the battlefield.

This craft is currently in development at the testing stage.

GOLDEN PATH VARIETIES, are numerous, and encompass a wide range of beliefs. The Golden Path requires only two fundamental beliefs, the divinity of R'yatt, and nonviolence towards living things. Between the different schools of thought can be a wide variety of overlap. Several of the most prominent are outlined below.

Orthodox: The Orthodox school of the Golden Path is considered the original, or default variety. This variety accounts for about 76% of Hive Queens. See entry THE GOLDEN PATH for details.

Messianic: The Messianic school of the Golden Path teaches that the spirit of Mother R'yatt will be reincarnated at some point. Followers of this school believe the reincarnated Mother R'yatt will rule over the Serritian civilization, and will lead a "Grand Biratz" to spread the Golden Path across the galaxy. Two strains of the Messianic school differ over the nature of the Grand Biratz, whether it will be a military conquest, or if Mother R'yatt's presence will cause voluntary conversion. The school is especially prominent on R'yattia.

Pacifist: The Pacifist school of the Golden Path takes a hard stance on nonviolence, ruling out even self-defense. This strain of the Golden Path is especially popular with Froles and the Serritians of Frolletia.

Daughters of D'karr: The Daughters of D'karr is a particular branch of the Golden Path. Adherents believe that their founder, D'karr, was an incarnation of R'yatt. The school was extremely popular, and grew rapidly, between 354-387 YSL, but declined rapidly after the death of D'karr. Many former adherents lost faith, as they had been told D'karr was to bring about the Grand Biratz. A small remnant remains today, less than .5% of the population. However, the Daughters of D'karr remain relevant, due to their zealous nature. They strongly believe in impressing the Golden Path by force, and are always the first supporters of military action.

Roek-Athjarr is the name of a religion that sprung up in the 'Egg' on the decade of 3120 bM (Before the Meltdown, referring to the Green Pit meltdown 582 years ago). First born as an animist religion that claimed that the planet, called Roek, was a living entity that hosted the roekaren inside himself for unknown reasons. In less than ten years, Roek-Athjarr beliefs divided the living planet in two entities: Roek, the 'spirit' of the planet, what was really alive, and Roek-Arreh (literally Body of Roek), the planet itself, that was inhabited by Roek. Furthermore, the first priests of this young religion claimed that earthquakes and cave-ins were messages of this spirit, and that it proved that Roek was a violence-loving god.

Although appealing to the most basic instincts of the roekaren, it never became a major religion. What did happen is that a cult started growing around the religion. This cult soon became the visible head of the Roek-Athjarr. This cult, called the Deep Guard, was founded by a freed non-citizen called Ghrajet, who preached that the world would come to an end if the violent desires of Roek were satisfied. The Guard soon saw its ranks be joined by an incredible amount of zealous roekaren, mostly from the lowest families and clans, and even freed non-citizens. Their aggressiveness started causing problems on the cities that hosted the guard members until their activity was restricted to fighting pits hat became Roek-Athjarr temples of sorts. Here, members of the Deep Guard became some of the fiercest warriors the underworld of the planet had seen.

The Guard has survived more than three thousand years since its conception, and, although in the modern times it has lost some of its religious traditions, it still is the single most feared elite troop in the entire planet. They sell themselves to the best bidder as mercenaries, a profitable (although not without risks) lifestyle in a war torn planet such as Roekar.

Fleet

Fighter: http://i.imgur.com/buggST6.jpg
These fighters are deployed from boxy, large cargo ships. They are small and are used to assault structures and ships in the atmosphere, but only when a hit and run is needed. Its primary function is to join a swarm and attack larger ships with a blinding amount of lasers fired simultaneously, this will help knock down the shields of ships, or harm unshielded ships.

Frigate: http://i.imgur.com/UWpkloG.jpg
The most widely used patrol ship, has a good assortment of weapons, reliable shields, and good speed. It is the most versatile ship class in the fleet and are used to patrol outer systems and to act as guards to cargo ships unless a bigger ship is needed. Currently the empire is testing out alternate weapons and alternate weapon kits on frigates to determine whether or not it is reliable enough to prototype on larger ships.

Cruiser: http://imgur.com/03XY3a2.jpg
The secret weapon of the empire, while they are larger most cruisers are outfitted with much stronger shields and engines than their size lets on. While they have weaker weapons than normal they can be used as mobile bullet shields to battleships if under extreme fire. They use small rapid fire weapons to fuel the illusion that they are outputting more firepower than they are. These ships also have extremely good sensors that can normally detect things before they are detected. They are placed strategically throughout systems but are concentrated when battleships move into battle.

Battleship: http://i.imgur.com/BAYvZ9r.jpg
The sword of fleet, these battleships pack a punch at the expense of shielding and movement. Each ship houses a Class 7 dual rain cannon, which while taking a long time to charge, is built to pierce through weakened shields and punch a clear hole into the enemy ship. The battleships also have light turrets, that can auto track smaller ships such as fighters and destroy them, protecting the ship from fighter fire. In times of emergency, either by extreme fighter swarms or an anticipated heavy hit, the battle ship can launch its auto compacted trash into space, either in multiple directions to make a trash field to destroy fighters, or a solid block ejected out below the rail gun, to dissipate some of the heavy shot.

Dreadnought: http://imgur.com/lK79GDK.jpg
Dreadnoughts are the super slow, super tanks of the fleet. The shields on the dreadnought are made to withstand even the hardest hit. They each have a single barrel rail gun and many heavy turrets. they serve as the flagships of the fleet and will tank hits from those who mistake the dreadnought to be the heaviest hitting, and allow the battleships to deal the damage.

Ground vehicles

Soldiers (species): http://i.imgur.com/vbp42ht.jpg
Basic soldier is the 3rd picture, the heavy soldiers are the 2nd picture, and the snipers are the 4th picture.

Light assault vehicles: http://i.imgur.com/gIFioLq.jpg
These are used to back up infantry when light fire support is needed, made durable and able to drop in bulk from a higher altitude they provide instant fire support, assuming the frigate carrying them in is not shot down. they are relativity fast and utilize light machine laser guns. It has medium armor and can take small gunfire and some heavy fire before the armor fails and the shots destroy the vehicle.

Heavy assault vehicles: http://i.imgur.com/frQE2iq.jpg
These are used when light fire support is not enough, also being able to be dropped from a high altitude these can be used to destroy fortifications and take down air support, using auto tracking and small dual railguns.

Ballistic assault vehicles: http://i.imgur.com/mLQBgUb.jpg
These are dropped by cruisers when the time comes to destroy major fortifications, they are only dropped alone, in pairs, or in trios as that is all that is needed. These giant four legged mounted cannons use a plasma type cannon that creates a set length of fire able plasma, this is then shot, and when it compiles from hitting a structure the plasma is forced together and it explodes, shattering fortifications.

Tantalan Ground Materiel: #vehicle ((Sorry for unauthorized tag, but none of the others fit with this entry))

((Military hardware museum music))

Tantalan surface doctrine prioritizes tactics and speed when it comes to first-responder duties. Vehicles in the Tantalan armory trend towards wheeled-locomotion designs due to their superior velocities and lesser wear-and-tear against roads in an urban environment, although several tracked vehicles are held in reserve for prolonged operations involving intrusion eradication ops. Armaments tend to match vehicles more expected for law enforcement duties than they are for large-scale offensives: It is common to find conventional machine guns and crowd control devices mounted in place of autoloading cannons and multiple-launch rocket systems- both to save military funds as well as limiting collateral damage to surrounding buildings when clearing out an enemy stronghold.

However, although Tantalan vehicles are woefully prepared for conventional warfare against more 'modern' galactic powers, Tantalan Institute of Public Security (TIPS) personnel train to maximize usage of their surroundings. Rather than riding their transports into enemy fire, TIPS-certified troops are instructed to stay inside buildings which offer cover- for instance- as well as providing better ground which place the enemy in a tactical and possibly operational disadvantage. Reflecting this urban take on domestic warfare are the high-quality firearms which hold their own even against direct-energy weapons and allow for personalization to each TIPS soldier's profile. Telescoping rifle stocks, 'smart' thumbprint-reading pistol grips, and improved stacked charge cartridges enhance the lethality of Tantalan small arms to provide a reasonable advantage against marauding adversaries, though these tactical advantages are unlikely to hold against larger galactic powers...

The GZ-20 AM Megarat is an unarmored logistics truck usually escorted by the AKZ-4404 APC in war environments, but it is more commonly used as a long-range personnel transport for moving troops between military towers. Its nanocapacitors and lightweight CNT-construction allow for a 320 kilometer range with a top speed of 152 kilometers per hour, though heavier loads may impact performance proportional to their weights. For this reason, the GZ-20 is limited to 200 kilometer missions whenever possible.

Initially produced over thirty years ago to replace the archaic GZ-18 Lifter, the GZ-20 last saw action twelve years after initial production when the last major pirate raid touched down in the city of Xaffa-Linx and dispatched raiders into the city proper. They were apprehended by twice as many Tantalan soldiers that surrounded the outlying warehouses and were subsequently driven back to their landing vessel and pushed off-world. Since then, continuous upgrades to the Megarat include DEW-resistant paint, sandwiched composite armor, and experimental spintronic-based comms systems that replaced the aging Data Cellular Interface which was already being phased out in favor of a newer wireless network system, the Universal Data Star Busnet.

The GZ-20's only armament includes a dorsal .51 caliber autocannon controlled by the commander's console. Additional fire support is usually provided by other vehicles as well as any armed personnel onboard its truck bed.

Image

AKZ-4404 APCs form the backbone of Tantalan light infantry due to their range, compact form factor, and tremendous speed for an electric car. Derived from the civilian J-12 Street Climber, the AKZ-4404 sports two lateral sponsons housing one autocannon each as well as providing legroom for the four occupants inside. The driver is seated in the center as is the case for Tantalan-made automobiles while the commander and two gunners respectively monitor the communications stack and both sides of the AKZ-4404's environment.

As with the GZ-20 Megarat, though, the AKZ-4404 is hardly suitable against weapons capable of penetrating its centimeter-and-a-half thick CNT-titanium armor. Instead, the AKZ-4404 serves as a light patrol craft against dismounted infantry in low-visibility environments, capable of tracking heat signatures behind debris and detritus via comprehensive direction thermal tracking (CDTT). With this capability is the AKZ-4404's 422 kilometer range and top speed of 200 kilometers-per-hour, allowing it unprecedented response times to troubled regions on Tantalus or on colonized worlds in the future.

The Tiler-Aury Industries TA-1x MAT is a fifteen year old design conceived for sustained combat against entrenched enemy soldiers as well as providing mid-range fire support with its twin 5km YGK-02 coilguns, the first Tantalan vehicle of its class to incorporate autoloading, EM-driven cannons. The YGK-02 allows for the firing of conventional neodymium-lined shells as well as Infrared-EM-Motion tracking (IEMM) missiles, though a separate sighter is necessary for illuminating enemy targets. The TA-1x Main Assault Tank incorporates 1012mm composite armor whose constituent compounds' concentrations are proprietary knowledge, but it is known that CNTs as well as iridium-tungsten alloy are involved in the tank's construction.

Nicknamed the Bellows for its noisy operation, early TA-1x models suffered from a near-deafening hydrazine power plant that was overhauled with MHD systems six years ago. Despite these modifications, however, this 83 kph tank continues to suffer from noisy operation, and consequently crews are required to wear intercom-enabled space activity suits protecting against hearing loss. Ongoing energy storage research aims to replace the TA-1x's power plant with a series of high torque motors connected to a 120km nanocapacitor cell, and so far progress has reached the prototype level. Designated as the TA-4x, this future revision is expected to enter service in four years excluding safety evaluations and other concerns that arise.

Image
KB-1 Power Suit in its empty position. Notice the extended torso section above the groin area; the suit is divided into two sections where the belt region overlaps with the 'excess' frame, enabling taller-than-average individuals to utilize the suit by changing the torso length. In some sizes, extra plates are added to the lower torso section, or the power leggings are exchanged for longer, custom-made ones.

The Kysht-Borae Mk.I Power Suit is a decade-old power suit concept undergoing lab testing as of the present. Ordered by the military as their first endurance protection suit- defined as a powered garment capable of sustaining its own functions via internal power for longer than a two hour period-, the KB-1 encountered energy storage issues during attempts to miniaturize its nanocapacitor cells to compact standards without sacrificing power storage; until two years ago, a tethered generator box powered the Zeroth Beta prototype while Tantalan scientists worked on the energy storage issue, causing the Kysht-Borae Design Bureau to receive numerous Letters of Concern from the army stating the suit's unacceptable delays were going to nullify the contract.

Fortune was in the lab's favor. Eighteen months ago, the storage problem was solved through improved nanocapacitor fabrication techniques as well as extensive rewiring of the prototype with expensive SRTSC wiring, giving it a mission duration up to four hours provided the suit sustained moderate combat activity. Production is expected to start in the coming months once the field trials are completed.

The KB-1 is not armed with weapons, instead depending on a soldier's external armaments to provide fire. CNT-reinforced composite armor spaced by nanotube-based weaves provide protection against mid-caliber arms as well as direct energy weapons on the lower end of the scale, and programmable matter developments allow the KB-1 to function as a space-activity suit complete with its own nutrient and metabolite recycling system, variable opacity bubble helm, and electromagnet-lined boots. The KB-1 is the first space-activity suit to incorporate a spintronic communications system, enabling near-instantaneous communications between the suit and its paired device.

Of particular note is the KB-1's capability of withstanding 1.16 kilonewtons of force (~260 lbs) when properly worn- connected at the torso- and energized. Though probably minuscule by galactic standards, the KB-1 is nonetheless a step forward for Tantalus in exosuit engineering, and a potential KB-1 successor is expected to withstand two to three times the force on the drawing boards. As of now, though, the KB-1's current force resistance enables soldiers to survive greater falls as well as carrying heavier weaponry.

The AziLoz PR-73 Portable Drone Suite is a set containing three different types of drones the size of an average human's arm length whose purpose is to provide real-time reconnaissance support to Tantalan ground crews in regions without reliable or secure surveillance systems. Regardless of the drone type, each drone is propelled by four ducted fans that utilize a unique propeller mount where the outer ends are lined by a gear-toothed rim that is spun by duct-mounted actuators rather than a central motor. By default, all PR-73 models are autonomous air vehicles, though an operator with appropriate intranet permissions may directly commandeer a PR-73 for purposes of administration and post-mission retrieval.

The PR-73 Airborne Router (Pictured in this entry) forms the backbone of every PR-73 deployment, with about ten to fifteen units required to forge a high-bandwidth mesh intranet spanning a small city. As suggested by the name, the PR-73 AR is a wireless access point and intranet router whose sole purpose it is to transmit and receive data from Tantalan soldiers and other PR-73 ARs/ PR-73 ACs. PR-73 ARs utilize a classified kilobit-length hybrid encryption scheme where a public-key encryption standard is used to transmit another symmetric key to other drones upon initialization, and then it is with the second symmetric key that all PR-73 drones transmit information through the Airborne Routers to other drones and Tantalan operators. At the physical layer, a combination of infrared lasers and radio transmitters produce the signals conveying battlefield information.

The PR-73 Airborne Cartographer (NOT shown above) assembles tactical data feed from a sensor suite mounted below the processing unit and forms portions of a larger grid-based tactical map compiled by other PR-73 ACs and assembled into realtime segments by all PR-73s in the network. In conjunction with other PR-73 ACs and ARs, tactical data feed maps (TDFMs) may easily span entire cities for the duration of the military operation conducted or until someone manages to gun down enough PR-73 ACs to leave gaps in map coverage.

PR-73 map data is obtainable through handheld devices or rifle-mounted holodisplays and features target identification, map zooming, abstract representations of landmarks, and client-side cryptography verification to ensure that enemy soldiers without kilobit-length codecracking technology cannot access the network data.

The Hunter-Killer Attack Rifle Mk.I is a thirty year old rifle design built with durability, ease of maintenance, and ops flexibility in mind. The 30 degree-offset pistol grip is interchangeable with other HKAR-standard grips, including custom-made ones that are designed for use by only one particular individual. The latest revision to the HKAR-01 standard includes support for 'smart', improved biometric locks, to keep unauthorized users from accessing a downed soldier's weapon even if the mechanism detects the deceased's hand. This is an important facet to keep in mind when individuals purchase/smuggle the Tantalan HKAR-01 offworld, for nobody will be able to use the device unless if the bitmap is reset via proprietary software communicating through the Tantalan-unique IO port.

The HKAR-01 fires 6.5mm Blickli-Rizingir rounds, each containing three squat, collinear bullets separated by electrically-ignited charges , at an average muzzle velocity in excess of 310 meters per second. To assist with accuracy, an OLED display and associated IEMM camera mounted onto the barrel allows for a skilled rifleman to track and, with assistance from a computer hosting facial recognition software, even identify the target among a crowd with appropriate information as gathered from the spotter's software. This superior tracking capability comes at a cost, though: The rifle is made slightly heavier with its lithium-fluoride cell located in the stock and must be replaced or recharged every three hours since deployment. Else, the rifleman is limited to what he or she spots, and any benefits of using Tantalus's information technology are made impossible without energy; ongoing research with the KB-1's power supply may eventually apply to the HKAR-01's dilemma in a miniaturized fashion.

There's currently a successor rifle in the developmental pipeline. Featuring a telescoping stock as well as updated spintronic circuitry and extended battery life, the HKAR-02 will feature a similar rifle frame save for subtle modifications to the design's interior.

In the centuries leading up to the Great War, polearms finally became extinct as automatic rifles and the first machine guns entered service with the Tantalan superpowers. Soldiers fighting along trench lines found a conundrum when engaging troops 'over the top;' doing so put the individual troop at risk of enemy fire for one, but also the lack of CQC weaponry made it very dangerous to engage enemy personnel that managed to sap into advance or relay lines. Stray bullets from a frantic defender could accidentally maim or kill friendlies, adding to the already noxious miasma poised by industrial genocide.

Enter the sword, or at least a reengineered version of a stiletto knife capable of piercing combat armor. Its original designation forgotten, the aptly-named Trench Shortblade is available in several different alloys as well as training plastoids to ensure greenhorns would not injure each other during training duels. The most current version of the Trench Shortblade features a retractile blade that springs outward at the press of a shielded button, enabling its bearer to use only one hand in dire situations. Furthermore, the hilt also possesses a set of five knuckle guards including one adjustable loop for the thumb, and is pretreated with a graphene coating to reduce wear on the underlying synthrubber. Each knuckle guard bears a broad pyramidal point in case the wielder needs to punch their foe,- with some custom-made Shortblades running a premium for synthetic diamond inlays- and the metal guards themselves are cast from CNT-titanium alloys which offer superior strength in comparison to competitor blades. The blade itself is at least three to four times as long as the width of a human fist, ensuring optimal lethal range without ensnaring the wielder in claustrophobic situations.

Throughout the Trench Shortblade's millennium-long product cycle, martial artist groups dedicated to knife combat came and disappeared as urban tacticians struggled to combine urban operations with the individual's knowledge of swordplay. Today, there are two recognized schools of swordplay- the Adversaries and the League of Twelve Blades- as determined by the Xah's sporting officials, but there are no official planetary teams nor the political will to endorse athletic events of any sort, leaving the two intramural leagues to sort out their rules of competition. The Adversaries treat a Trench Shortblade as an extension of the hand, encouraging its practitioners to parry, block, and hook around an opponent's profile to bring them down in conjunction with traditional hand-and-foot attacks; whereas the League is more historical in Shortblade combat and encourages its practitioners to participate in what non-Tantalan observers could compare to fencing. League opponents eschew the use of punches and kicks in favor of offensive thrusts, sweeps, and parries- focusing more on a realistic atmosphere where Shortblades are either used alone or as improvised bayonets on sparring staves. In both schools, the rules are mostly the same, where the individual who pins their opponent to the floor or taps their chest first is declared the winner, but League practitioners wear facial protection as well as gauntlets to minimize the risk of injury. Metal blades in tournaments are absolutely forbidden, and the tips of plastoid tournament Shortblades must be rounded or blunted such that the wielder's force is spread over a larger area, reducing the risk of serious injury.

To be expanded/ cleaned up as necessary.

Tantalus: An Introduction to Geography #planet

Tantalus is a terrestrial world in a system dominated by a yellow-white dwarf, Ziux. It has an orbital period of 361 Standard days with a 20 hour rotational period, though the Tantalan Metric Calendar sets the year as equivalent to 360 days- one for each degree of angular movement around Ziux. Settled by humans in the Forebear past, it was only three thousand years ago when industrial cities started to reemerge on the Tantalan surface. As recently as five hundred years before the present, the last strip of virgin land was covered with pavement, making Tantalus one of the few- if not the only- known ecumenopoleis in the gamma quadrant.

Economic growth in recent years has stalled due to a chronic shortage of free materials. Instead, the planetary economy focuses on recycling used consumer and industrial goods to free up supply for the three billion or so inhabitants clustered in skyscraper centers. Extensive energy conservation measures leave Tantalus unsurprisingly dull for a planet-spanning city; from orbit, light pollution appears an order of magnitude or so dimmer than comparable ecumenopolis specimens, and citizens on the ground report increased difficulty driving at night due to the reduced range of OLED traffic lights. Efforts to rectify this problem have met several engineering solutions such as using supra-room temperature superconductors, and already some city centers report fewer traffic accidents using SRTSC cabling in lieu of other high-efficiency transmission lines. When it comes to industry, however, energy costs remain the sticking point in spite of- or because of- extensive robotic assembly lines, superior rail infrastructure, and automated maintenance systems. Efforts to extract more deuterium from neighboring gas giants have been unsuccessful due to piracy threats, leaving photovoltaic energy production as the Tantalans' sole source of power as long as decades-old fusion reactors remain offline.

The ecumenopolis is arranged such that city centers are the socioeconomic regions of importance. Tens of millions of residents fed by adjacent pinkhouses reside in residential towers oftentimes joined by skyways, giving everyone access to neighboring universities, schools, civic utilities, and recreational facilities such as the Konxantihn LAN Cafe in Konxantihn or the Museum of Applied Science and History in Kyshtent. Intersecting networks of light rail and maglevs allow for public transport between every major city center as well as providing park-and-ride buildings to commuters, lengthy PV cell strips for power generation, and capsule hotels for catching a quick snooze. In short, a large amount of service sector activity outside population centers occur near these transportation bottlenecks, where small goods and services can proliferate outside controls set by city center ordinances, though those same controls typically allow for individuals to remain secure in their SRO units- meaning very few individuals actually call inter-center sprawl 'home'.

Though the Tantalan Institute of Public Security, or IPS to the locals, holds a heavy hand over society, a small quantity of contraband can be found behind the drab CNT-metal constructions in hole-in-the-wall establishments; On occasion, an independent trader from another system may arrive with untraceable amounts of alien pharmaceuticals mixed among raw materials, and it is often individuals pilfering through derelict boxes and reselling alien contraband on the black market. As with other authoritative societies, connections with dealers or their clientele are necessary before one can even peer in the black market, let alone get ahold of purified alien tetrahydrocannabinol. This secrecy, coupled with the relative rarity, inconvenience, and distance of independent traders; leads to a negligible supply of undocumented alien wares and therefore limited opportunities for getting addicted to non-humans' drugs, though smuggled weapons are still a minor concern given their refusal of registration in accordance with import regulations barring non-Tantalan weapons.

Tourists are rare on Tantalus. An estimated ten to twenty individuals manage to receive a tourist visa each year, yet only half stay for periods longer than thirty days. There are no luxury hotels to speak of due to materials rationing, nor are there amusement facilities other than LAN Cafes, e-library terminal houses, and city center markets (Tourists will have to bring their own materials to barter in most locations, for ration credits are available only to Tantalan citizens); but there does exist Kyshtent's Museum of Applied Science and History for academically-inclined tourists, where seventy percent of long-term tourists go for most of their research needs. The Museum of Applied Science and History hosts thirty-two file servers joined to an access server that branches out into dozens of terminals across conference rooms, meditation chambers, and solitary workstations inside the building, giving researchers an opportunity to study whatever proprietary knowledge is stored inside the Museum's file servers, which are locked underground and accessible by smart card-locked elevators in the Northwest Annex. Exhibits in the Museum include a demilitarized P-3 Skyfighter dominating the entrance lobby as well as an ancient P-12A Interceptor and numerous infographic holograms in the Northwest Annex. Security at the Museum of Applied Science and History consists of two IPS guards outside the locked server room and three guards in the surface complex- all assigned to usher out troublemakers and protect whatever traveling exhibits make their rounds at the museum's many vacant lobbies.

Azor: The Amiiri Homeworld

Physical Facts

Azor is a terrestrial world in the Ashor Ai star system, centered by the star of the same name, with a circumference of 35,128 kilometers. It has a twenty-two hour rotational period, and completes an orbit of Ashor Ai every 400 standard days. It has an irregular but fairly small orbital wobble, which is usually almost unnoticeable but can be exacerbated and/or temporarily locked by a combination of lunar gravity and the ejection of large high-velocity plumes hot gasses by the planet's several supervolcanoes that escape the atmosphere, meaning seasons can be irregular. However, this has been stabilized by massive magma piping arrays and the construction and careful placement of Ye Shih, a very large artificial satellite. The planet has two natural satellites, Keh and Pas, and more than fifty thousand artificial satellites, including one artificial moon, Ye Shih.

The planet has an atmospheric composition of 78% nitrogen, 19% oxygen, 1.5% carbon dioxide, .5% water vapor, and 1% other trace gasses. The planet's average temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit, and much of the planet is tropical or subtropical in climate, with some areas subject to temperate or desert conditions.

The first life rose on Azor approximately 4.5 billion years ago, in the form of chemosynthetic prokaryotes, which were, like modern life in Amiiri space, based off of a triple-helix DNA molecule, which possesses structural differences that include the presence of uracil, xanthine, and purine and a central chain formed when hydrogen bonds form small spurs and base pairs can form vertically between them.

Around 20-25,000 years ago, the first Amiiri civilizations began forming. These civilizations then rose and fell in the dramatic course of history known to the Amiiri as the Summer and Winter Cycle, and have left Azor badly scarred by extracting nearly all of its usable resources, overfarming, fishing, and logging, and causing a greenhouse effect by burning nearly all of Azor's fossil fuel reserves, which were formerly unusually large. In addition to their resource extraction, the Amiiri also damaged their planet with their bloody eruptions of warfare and constant low-level fighting. Azor still, after more than ten thousand years, has radioactive hotspots from the First Collapse, and its surface is scarred in multiple locations by orbital bombardment or nanoweapons. Those who live on or travel to Azor must also be vaccinated against the many deadly diseases on the planet or equipped with medical nanites, due to the presence of many former bioweapons loosed in a war which have since spread and mutated, and the planet also has some areas that remain barren after chemical or nano attacks millennia ago. Most coastal cities are now either partially drowned or shielded by massive dikes, as Azor no longer possesses permanent polar ice caps and sea levels have risen by around 50 meters.

Azor today, however, has been healed tremendously. The Garden has put six millennia of tireless effort into healing the planet's many wounds, and repairing the planet's damaged cities and ecosystems. The planet's wilderness has been greatly restored, and many extinct species returned to their former habitats. Using resources from other worlds in the Garden, efforts are also being made to reinvigorate the soil in former major farming centers, and recreate mineral deposits that were formerly important in various ecosystems. Most of the ancient ruins that dot Azor's surface have been thoroughly salvaged and then razed, and any surviving components used in the creation of a new biome. The Great Restoration has largely restored the planet to its pristine beauty, but in some areas it is not yet complete. It will, for instance, likely take another two millennia for the planet's CO2 levels to be returned to normal, using GMO trees as well as carbon-harvesting nanobots. The restoration of the ozone layer, using oxygen broken off of the CO2 molecules as well as imported ozone, will take another five hundred years, during which time orbiting superdynamos, similar to those at Ti Sheh, will amplify the magnetosphere to protect Azor from solar radiation. Once carbon levels are returned to normal, it may take as long as five thousand years to restore the planet's natural climate, her natural fossil fuel reserves many millions of years, and her deposits of metals and minerals will never be replenished.

Azor is home to ten billion inhabitants, many of whom are slaves, and is fairly cosmopolitan. Nearly 100% of the population lives in the cities, so that the planet's wilderness can be kept pristine. Most cities are six thousand years old or younger, and confined to a small group of megastructures or a single megastructure. However, the surviving Ancient Cities, which date back more than twenty thousand years, are large and sprawling affairs, spreading out from their ancient core to their modern fringes. It has five space elevators.

Aureloth

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Aureloth is the homeworld of the Aurelothian humans and the core of the Systems Alliance of Miyager. A terrestrial world, Aureloth is the third planet in the Solunaris system, the densest planet in the system, and positioned perfectly in the system's habitable zone. Aureloth is home to millions of species, and 11.4 billion humans, all owing to its rich biosphere, minerals, and habitability. Aureloth is de jure home to over 120 confederated and aligned states, unified under the auspices of the Alliance of Nations, further unified under the Systems Alliance of Miyager.

Aureloth formed between 4.45 and 4.60 billion years ago, and within' it's first billion years, was home to microscopic life within' it's oceans. This microscopic life began to shortly thereafter alter the atmosphere and surface, resulting in the present course of evolution which favors complex aerobic organisms. Life was able to prosper on both land and water thanks to Aureloth's ozone layer, also attributable to it's microscopic life.

Aureloth is a tectonically active planet, with several tectonic plates which move across the surface over millions of years. Aureloth has a diameter of 11,880 kilometers, and it's surface is 71.6% water, with the remainder consisting of five continents and countless islands which themselves have a large number of lakes and other sources of water. Aureloth has an axial tilt of 21.6 degrees, producing it's seasonal variations, and an average surface temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. Aureloth completes a full revolution around Solunaris once every 333 standard days, and completes a full rotation every 22.04 hours.

Recorded human history began around 3500 BAC on Aureloth, a few millennia after the first development of agriculture and farming. The prehistoric revolution marked the beginning of systemic husbandry of plants and animals, which led to the development of the first permanent settlements. The relative security and increased prosperity resulting from this led to further technological advancement, and though slow at first, technological and scientific progress only accelerated as more was invented, developed, and understood.

The development of a division of labor resulted, leading to a leisured upper class and the creation of cities. Writing was a natural followup, and this is around the time when recorded history began. Civilization arose in three major parts of the world, and even today this manifests in the three major ethnolinguistic families present on Aureloth. Aureloth's history is generally divided into several periods:

Ancient History: 3500 BAC to 399 AAC
Post-antiquity: 399 AAC to the 13th century AAC
Early Modern Period: 13th century AAC to the 16th/17th century Industrial Revolution
The Middle Modern Period: Industrial Revolution to the First Contact with Nanindor in 2039 AAC
Late Modern Period/Contemporary Era/Interplanetary Era: 2039 AAC to Present
I'm back I think.

An Open Letter to the Xah: #document

This letter is an 89-year old document printed on carbon papyrus and watermarked with a Silver Star imprint towards the top of the page. The original document is stored inside the Secure Communications Archives deep in the basements of Conxantine Palace, but copies of the Open Letter are available in most archival networks on Tantalus.

---

Your Royal,

As I gladly accept the offer of holding office as Chief Engineering Minister of Infrastructure Maintenance and Preemption, I also wonder about your policies now that it's been a year since White March. As we are both aware of, it is worth applying technology to human betterment, but we should also recall the dangers of complacency and how our lack of mobility will kill us in the long run.

Last week, we were hit with a significant raider force brought down by our careful hands. None of our own soldiers were injured, let alone killed, but the violence and spontaneity of the ambush contributed to that quarter's decline in production; business leaders were securing their equipment within leaded basements in the following days. Bear with me that we have long dealt with material shortages, and now the pirates have grown fiercer despite their annual visitation rates; gouging out every orifice of these aliens’ bodies with rusty scalpels may be effective in obtaining outside information, but I regret to inform you that these ruthless means of interrogation fail to deter their aggression but instead intensify it; what we need to keep piracy at bay is a revitalized military, not more butcherers, and the only way we will bolster our defense is if we secure new resources for the items our troops badly need. We have found pistols that can vaporize an entire torso for crying out loud, yet our soldiers march in antiquated uniforms with synthocellulose-bound rifles.

As CEMIMP, it will be my duty to secure vastly greater rations to bolster interplanetary exploration as well as monitor our research output. The Bixmilla Drive has been successfully tested to great public fanfare, and we expect to survey the first planet of interest no later than twenty years from now, when someone has managed to perfect an SSTO aerospacecraft design capable of housing Bixmilla’s Drive. Furthermore, we will bring our military up to standard relative to our current research domains; there are several weapon designs in the pipeline which should become available over the next twenty years, and my only regret is that this wasn't done sooner. We need to continue to automate our SARMGLAM systems as well as invest time into applied research- time that we are running out of.

Enclosed in the package are the proposed details I’ve negotiated from Conxantine’s bureaucracy. Consider yourself an invited man, Your Royal, for your signature is mandatory.

Database File - Eldenian Empire - #Starship - Naval Vessels

The Eldenian Navy is the most expensive and best-equipped branch of the EEAF, or Equalsun Empire Armed Forces. Designated NavCom, it boasts mobile battlestations, personalized fighter craft, and an array of support vessels.

-The flagships of the EEN, Battlestation's are designed to plunge into the center of a battle, spewing weapons fire in all directions. Their general design is a sphere surrounded by a halo, the sphere being the command center and the halo being where the weapons and fighters are kept. The halo's main armament is two energy projectors that wrap around the entire ship. Each is slanted 30 degrees away from the other, allowing them to fire upon all angles except directly underneath and above the command center. They also contain multiple torpedo bays, which store large amounts of energy in a ball and then fling the resulting projectile at enemy assets, generally capital ships and large ground deployments. The halo is also responsible for containing approximately 100 Eldar pilots and their attack craft. It is defended by a rotating shield mechanism that is very effective against directed energy weapons, but almost completely useless against ballistics. The inner sphere, meanwhile, contains all essential systems and all commanding staff (besides squad leaders of ground and fighter forces). It is equipped with a single energy projector, much less powerful than it's halo counterparts. It boasts a seperate rotating shield and an entire five meters of Starsilver armor.
