Lost In the System (FT Open, OOC/Sign-Up/Interest) (Mature)

“Guilty!” That is the verdict that had given you. It seems like hours ago when the Tribunal ended. The three panel judges had found you guilty. It was hardly fair: no legal representation at all. The Prosecutor had merely attacked you character and demonized your appearance. They even silenced you with the slap of a stun baton every time you tried to speak out in your own defense. The Hegemonic Marshals in their grey uniforms then appear from the back of the tribunal room at the exit. They quickly apprehend and drag your chained and battered body to exit of the room and send you to the transport bus to the Correctional Detention Center for processing to the Penal Asteroid to serve out the sentence for your crimes whether real, or imagined, against the Hegemonic State.

The ride is long and arduous; the two marshals inside the bus are the only ones standing. The only exception is the marshal sitting at the very back with a lethal-looking plasma rifle on his lap. The two standing are carrying stun batons as they stare at the convicts that are all chained to their seats. They promptly hit anyone that tries to speak out, or even whisper to their fellows. The motley crew of convicts ranging from standard looking humans, wolf like Vulgorians, giant feline Felinanori, a few Psilions, and several other species are sitting, and chained to their seats at their feet, arms, and even tails should they possess such appendages. The guards keep patrolling and pacing, making sure that not a sound is made on the bus ride.

The Peace Keepers inside the Correctional Detention Center are dressed in their white power armor wielding stun batons, and the ones manning the walls and towers are armed with pulse rifles. The ones on the ground from the bus that transported you promptly form you and several other shady looking characters into the yard. They beat any that resist with their batons and force them into inside the complex into processing line. The processing was brutal and cruel. The first thing they did was take your belongings ranging from money, wallets, identification cards and info. They then force you to strip down to your underwear. They have you perform a serious of procedures to make sure you aren’t smuggling, even checking your more intimate places to be assured that no contraband is being hidden. More than one member of your group was holding onto something in their lower reaches when you saw the Peace Keeper with the white latex glove violate them.

The silent guards then force you and your new friends into a chamber, male, female and other sexes all alike. The guards then proceed to fire up a large fire house and spray all of you together with banal sadism. The feeling of the high pressure hose striking your skin is agonizing, and it forces the group up against the back wall. You can hear curses and hisses of hatred from those that take the hit directly from the high powered water spray. The guards then promptly end the shower and throw small white towels at you and your cohorts to dry up. They don’t let you leave until you’re partially done drying up, then hurtle lye and salt at you. The smell of wet fur and flesh is replaced with a universal stinging sensation that makes eyes and noses water up…

The Peace Keepers show no compassion as they herd all of you up to the next area for your prison outfits. The clothes are a three piece outfit: an orange top along with the universal orange pants, some of them with holes in the back, and a third piece that is a sort of cotton underwear, also with holes.

The Peace Keeper guards then re-chain everyone up together again. The shackles are connected by a long chain to the feet and hands of each person in the line as they head back to the bus to head to the Star Port to be sent to the prison transport. The bus starts up and the situation is a repeat of the drive to the C.D.C. The bus finally reaches the star port and they then transport you out with several Peace Keepers surrounding your group. This time, they are armed with rifles, and watch you closely. It seems they plan to load you up to a prison transport shuttle. The loading is done quickly, and anyone that hold ups the chained convicts takes a hit with a rifle butt. The prisoners are placed into their seats and re-chained once again by arms, legs and tails.

The Peace Keepers that had transported the group depart, leaving only one with the plasma rifle sitting in the back. The others two from the bus with the stun batons then enter into the ship. As before, they are the only ones permitted to stand. They patrol the walkways, mercilessly hitting anyone that tries to initiate conversation of any form. The yelp of more than one convict can be heard as the beatings began, carried out again and again during the long, boring ride for the most minor of infractions. From out of the view window you see your new home for the first time. Penal Asteroid 18 is occupied by several structures across its craggy surface including plasma cannon batteries, missile silos, and docking ports that lead into the hollowed out prison complex inside. This is your fate…

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to Penal Asteroid 18, the massive prison complex for convicts of the GE-03 Star System. The prison is located inside Hegemonic space in the Alpha Quadrant. This RP is a jailhouse survival RP along with an escape breakout portion. The RP is going to be in two threads: one for the Penal Asteroid A.K.A. the Lost in the System RP, second for the breakout and escape portion of the RP The goal is in this particular thread is survival. The Penal Asteroids are the Hegemony’s maximum security prisons that take on all offenders ranging from rapists, gang members, mobsters, smugglers, slavers, and every kind of criminal element in a normal society. They are forced to intermingle in the cells, recreation yards, and even when performing their assigned chores like cleaning, laundry, and cooking etc. The prison is uni-sex meaning showers and even cells can have people of the opposite sex in them. The guards and wardens of these institutions are also fairly shady and corrupt. The majority of the population is mostly unaffiliated to any specific gang or group: they are just cons doing time. The problem is that the system also has its fair share of prison gangs hiding in the shadows of the cells. These criminal gangs are racially motivated criminal brotherhoods, allied criminal mobsters, pirates, slavers, and even the stereotypical gangbangers.

The question of how to survive is your own… Do you want to be a guy/gal just serving your time, and keeping his/her head down? Do you plan to join an established gang, or even want to form your own? The choice is yours. This place has a number of activities to make a tidy profit from contraband items like drugs, homemade alcohol, and even handmade steel weapons called shanks or shivs: anything that can be traded can be battered for the local prison economy. The services trade in this hidden economy number in all sorts of subtle rackets like prostitution, gambling, and in some cases performing contract killings, or hits. The key is to this is to survive after all. Beware, that things can get ruthless in here and some people may look at your character with predatory intent. This is the nature of this place. You’ve got to be smart, strong, or have friends to survive in this place…

Penal Asteroid 18:

The Prison itself is a massive four block sections made up of tens of thousands of inmates in each block. The block sections are underground inside the hollowed-out asteroid. The blocks are connected through highly secure passageways that have several levels of reinforced titanium doors, guard sections, and security cameras. The passage area has been revamped with metallic flooring and armored bulkheads. The central area between the blocks is the recreational area that allows prisoners from different blocks to intermingle during their rec times. The atmospheric dome structures on the surface of the asteroid serves as the barracks and administrative buildings for the prison along with the docking stations. The lower levels of the prisons are the solitary holding cells and death row facilities that house inmates that are either violent offenders being punished or awaiting execution for their crimes either inside or out of the prison. The death chamber is the lowest level where prisoners on death row are executed by disintegration. The asteroid prison’s power is supplied by four large fusion power generators on the surface of the asteroid. The cafeterias, medical wards, and kitchens are a located inside their respective block locations.

The Rules:

The RP is overall run by the OP and is to be co-moderated by Xiscapia. The RP is rated mature for excessive violence, sexual themes, and gore in this gritty, criminal infested RP. This doesn’t give license to go overboard and bring the forum mods down on our heads. I also expect that all players be somewhat active. I don’t demand immediate responses, I just ask that you don’t post then disappear from the RP. If this is the case, Xis, and I reserve the right to take control of or kill off your characters if you don’t send me or Xis a TG or post in this thread about what is going and when you plan to be able to post again. Xis and I also reserve the right to deny applications or approve them. I have also decided to “cap” the maximum amount of characters a player can make to three.

Final Note:

Be advised, that certain crimes tend to get inmates sent to an H.I.M. black site to be interrogated and possibly silenced for good. The crimes involved for this is terrorism, espionage, and any kind of overtly hostile action against the Hegemonic government such as assassinations of government officials, or you’re even “suspected” of being a foreign agent seeking to infiltrate into the Hegemony. You would have probably been “black bagged” without trial. In regards, to this information feel free to list your crimes on your application. Xis and I will need to approve an applicant that is involved in such crimes labeled above with a sufficient explanation in their biography.

Organizations inside the Prison:

Penal Asteroid 18 has four lesser Wardens for each of the four massive prison blocks. The Head Warden is in overall charge of the entire Prison Complex. The Wardens are assigned their position from the civilian government and as such are not part of the Peace Keeper Correctional guards that watch over the inmates. The Wardens have a lot of power in the correctional facilities, and they run it like a corporate/military complex with an iron fist. The sad fact, however, is that a few of them are corrupt individuals that are on the take with one or more the bigger established factions of the prison elements in the system.

The corrupt wardens can exchange favors for the right amount of credits. It should be noted that Wardens are well paid, and lesser gangs don’t stand a chance of corrupting them with just petty offers of credits. They are however mortal beings like any person and can be blackmailed, though they have to keep up a professional appearance. They will try to keep up this façade as best they can to avoid being seen as corrupt and then investigated by the H.I.M. internal division. The Wardens have command over the guards and the staff and can be a very valuable ally on your payroll.

The Staff are also civilians that help run the prison complex: they answer to the Wardens and in some cases can outrank the guards. They are the maintenance members, medical professionals, and other assorted positions that help run and operate the prison in space. They also have some corruptible elements that can help smuggle in contraband or provide other services like getting a guard distracted while the inmates sneak past them to escape from a murder they just committed and so forth. The staff is not paid as well as the Wardens and as such more of them are corruptible, and easier to temp to the dark side of prison politics. The problem is that not all of them are going to just go along with the gangs or even want to deal with them directly. A smart inmate should be careful when dealing with the staff members…

The Hegemonic Intelligence Ministry, or H.I.M. as it is known as to the common people, has a minimal presence in the prison. They are often involved in interrogations with high level prisoners and have been known to investigate allegations of corruption within the prison. The internal members of the H.I.M. are also involved in counter gang activity. They keep records of inmates and staff members and even the guards. They are considered soulless and emotionless and can’t be bribed or blackmailed. They have been surgically altered to have their emotions removed and as such lack any kind of empathy. They also have the power to bring in their Shadow Operation Command enforcers to quietly eliminate people and have a large amount of authority and power in the prison system: they can even remove or kill the Wardens of the asteroid Prison. The H.I.M. organization is vast and widespread throughout the Hegemony, and answer only to their mysterious mistress and the Hegemon himself.

The standard guards of the facilities are just low ranking Peace Keepers, mostly enlisted members with a few officers to serve as a chain of command. The problem is despite this military-like setting a few of the guards in the prison have been corrupted with offers of credits, drugs or even other more unsavory types of “favors.” The guards are the largest organization that is not inmates in the prison complex. There are around two thousand guards stationed in the asteroid with another eight hundred more elite members to serve as riot control. The regular guards are equipped with stun batons, and handcuffs, and are trained in hand to hand combat and takedown techniques.

All guards wear light armored vests to protect themselves from the prisoner’s homemade weapons. The Guards work in rotating shifts and are required to escort the prisoners from their cells to any location they want to reach, the exception being the rec facility where prisoners have a free hour to work out and mingle with the general population. They also guard the prison cafeterias and man the cameras that monitor the prisoners.

The riot police are given power armor and when deployed are authorized to use lethal weapons such as pulse weapons, set to stun at first, and then to kill should the situation turn ugly. They have energy shields to beat back prisoners and can form a phalanx like formation to subdue large groups of prisoners. They also carry concussion grenades, along with tear gas to suppress larger groups.

The Prison Gangs: The groups listed below are the five major gangs in the prison. There are several lesser gangs scurrying around with numbers ranging from five to thirty, but the ones listed below have networks ranging into the hundreds. These groups control the hidden rackets and are also dangerous entities amongst themselves, often killing off rivals or having lesser affiliated gangs doing the dirty work for them. These groups can be racially motivated or profit driven. Beware of crossing any of them, for doing so could be your last mistake.

The Black Acer Outfit, commonly shortened to simply “The Outfit”, is the largest and most influential prison gang on Penal Asteroid 18. It is a massive organization on the outside as well, with a presence in every star system in the Hegemony. The racially-inclusive organization inside this particular prison only has one thousand core members, but their reach is outsized thanks to their ties to many lesser gangs and even some of the prison officials including staff members and guards. Rumor has it that they even have a Warden in their pocket.

Nicknamed “the Voloian mob”, these ruthless gangsters originated from the Penal Asteroids back in Solvaris and have connections to several illicit activities from the streets to the cells across the Voloian and Milky Way Galaxies. The Outfit is not a group to be “messed with” and they are willing to ruthlessly ensure their dominance of the many prison rackets including the drug trade, extortion, prostitution, smuggling, and even contract killing. The organization’s biggest rival is the Sabhrak Pride, their mortal enemies from the streets and the prisons throughout the Hegemony.

The ruthless and amoral Sabhrak Pride is the second largest prison gang after the Outfit. They have roughly nine hundred members along with several lesser gangs that have been intimidated or otherwise forced to serve them. The Pride is comprised exclusively of Felinanori. The Felinanori are a species of cat people about seven feet tall weighing about 250-380 pounds standard. They are a highly racist organization made up of imprisoned bikers, pirates, gang bangers and a number of other unsavory types of criminal. The Pride’s specialty is cruelty and sadism, especially to their enemies: They are known to even eat other species that they deem inferior as a means of intimidation. They also have a number of rackets to generate credits. While the Pride is not as powerful as the Outfit in terms of racket control inside the prison they do make up for it with cleverness and by extorting heavily from weaker gangs, and as such they have a few guards and staff in their pockets. They are currently in an ongoing gang war with their arch rivals in the Outfit.

The H.B. is the third largest group comprised of an all-human membership of about five hundred members. The Human Brotherhood has several types of criminals ranging from captured Human Resistance Army members to lesser cons and several other human racists seeking to protect themselves from the other more powerful alien gangs in the system. The H.B. is primarily a protection gang and doesn’t control much in the terms in rackets. They do however have a smuggling ring that brings in drugs and weapons for their members. They also perform murder for hire jobs for other gangs provided the price is right.

The H.B. major membership isn’t tough individually compared to many other hardened criminals, but several of their number are trained Human Resistance Army terrorists they have a large number of smuggled knives and shanks available to threaten their enemies. What holds the Brotherhood in check is fear of the Sabhrak Pride and the Outfit. They thus have made a truce with their rivals in the Vulgorian Vanguard, though the two sides are natural enemies and their truce is shaky at best.

The fourth of the major gangs is comprised entirely of roughly three hundred wolf-like anthropomorphic Vulgorian species. This species originated from heavy gravity home world and as such tend to have great muscular strength, standing at about six feet tall and weighing about 260-300 pounds on average. They are comprised of imprisoned pirates, slavers, and two bit thugs seeking protection from the other gangs. Like the Pride and the Brotherhood they don’t allow members from outside their species, and unlike the above two they don’t deal with other gangs. They do however provide a violent “protection” service to inmates seeking protection from other gangs, and charge a substantial fee for this service. They’re usually armed with their natural weapons of jaws and claws, which are deadly enough to match any improvised weapon in the prison. They used to fight with the Human Brotherhood until the recent truce was made for mutual survival. The two sides are tense with each other and any incident could turn the peace into a bloodbath.

The Psilion Solidarity is the smallest and weakest of the major gangs. It is comprised entirely of Psilions, a species of thin gray skinned humanoids. They are naturally highly psionic and as such have to wear specialized collars to dampen their abilities. This Psilion gang is made up exclusively of captured slavers and pirates. Though the Solidarity numbers just two hundred members they have a large prostitution and drug racket, and they tend to target other species and use them for their own gains. They are calculating and heartless, often picking on weaker inmates and exploiting until they have no more use for them. Psilions only tend to back down when faced with a show of force strong enough to discourage them. They have a tense relationship with the Vulgorian Vanguard and their protection services.

Name: Yo (loose sketch)
Alias: N/A
Species: Kitsune
Age: Unknown (late twenties)
Height: 5'5 ft
Weight: 150 lbs
Eye Color: Yellow
Hair/Fur: Black
List of Crime or Crimes convicted: Smuggling, conspiracy to traffick contraband, assault on an officer, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon
Skills: Brawling, streetwise, lockpicking, firearms

Personality: As a brawler Yo is known for being rash, impulsive and quick to anger, which figures into her fighting style. Though the vixen can seem easy-going on the surface she is hotheaded and not given to waiting for anything when she thinks the solution is in front of her. Though she trusts few people and usually responds to problems with violence, she is not a fundamentally greedy person and those who earn her loyalty have it for life. Yo has been in and out of prison before and as such she is always on the lookout for weaknesses she can exploit in the system, including in her fellow prisoners. Almost anything is good if it helps her survive.

Bio: Yo was a member of a smuggling operation sponsored by the Xiscapian Syndicate in the Voloian Hegemony. After the first few runs the crew of the Umbra Pearl brushed up against the native Voloian criminal gangs and the Captain decided that their ring needed a stable contact outside the usual criminal element in order to keep up a steady trade of goods and money. After putting out feelers the smugglers began to meet with a corporate representative in secret to hash out a trade deal under the noses of the Hegemony and the Black Acers until their most recent meeting was the subject of a H.I.M. sting. The Umbra Pearl and her crew fled the system, but Yo and the corporate contact were left behind. He was disappeared by H.I.M., and the Xiscapian was arrested, shoved through the justice system, and sent to Penal Asteroid 18.

Xis,

Your application is accepted…

I presume from the personality, and background from the app that Yo was one of the ones getting “smacked around” with the stun batons during the bus rides, and the shuttle ride. (;

Name: Junior Lieutenant Mishyoukai Aika of the Imperial Shield (Retired)
Alias: 'Mishy'
Species: Augmented Human (Huerdaen Slayer)
Age: 28
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 372 lbs.
Eye Color: Blue
Hair/Fur: Black
List of Crime or Crimes convicted: Assault on an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Illegal weaponry, Possession of a Military Vehicle, Piracy, Use of Restricted Weaponry, Manslaughter, Jaywalking.
Skills: Sniping, Wilderness Survival, Melee combat, squad tactics, small unit leadership, the Slayer Caste forms.
Personality: Aika was once a determined, headstrong, and brilliant sniper, determined to be the best she could and to fight with integrity worthy of a member of the Slayer Caste. That woman is now gone. The Aika of today is broken, mentally unstable, and fighting for some level of sanity. She has violent mood swings from being effectively dead to the outside world, to moments of extreme hate, joy, or confusion. She has been seen to spend some of her time in quiet reflection, but she is more likely to break down crying or sit in dazed confusion when alone. She has little motivation other than a tendency to be violent toward those around her, as it seems to induce a significantly higher chance of emotional response than other acts.
Bio: Aika was a member of the Imperial Shield, and a member of the Slayer Caste. This means she is augmented as both a cyborg, and a genetically engineered soldier, to better endure the trials of combat. Like most Slayers in the Star Empire today, she joined the Shield for a chance at glory. Where most slayers are found in the infantry, or as gunship pilots, Aika's preference for a quick, precise kill at an extreme distance, favoring single-shot rifles and she was able to quickly distinguish herself as a sniper. Performing equally well in both sniping and spotting roles, she operated on a series of missions with her units until she reached the rank of Junior Lieutenant, where her promising career took a significant turn.

The exact details of what occurred are uncertain, but what is confirmed is that at some point over the course of a week-long deployment, JLT Mishyoukai Aika disappeared. She was found, several months later, alone in an escape pod heading back into the Star Empire and speaking of a derelict ship, as well as cryopods including multiple species and creatures. Her logs were partially corrupted due to lack of power and low temperature, presumably from cryo-sleep, but what little could be recovered seemed to verify her story. She was flagged as a 'survivor' due to what could be determined to have occurred, and after a short psychological screening process lasting a number of months, she returned to active service.

Her first assignment was that of the Glass Jungle incident. Here, she was exposed to a variant strain of the Rethast Pathogen, after observing almost all of her squadmates die on the supposedly simple mission. Due to pathogenic contact, she was kept under constant surveillance, as well as in complete isolation, for the remainder of her tour of duty, a time that lasted approximately two years. Her treatment during this time is an object of an ongoing inquiry within the Star Empire, and four Imperial Officers were taken to the firing squad for events that took place during this time. On two occasions her final squadmate, blaming her for his sister (and squad sergeant's) death, attempted to kill her, and was released. Her state, left unprotected and unclothed within a secure containment system, damaged her already weakened psyche. Her only interaction appeared to be with Baal'Ta, the one who twice attempted to kill her. She visibly degraded over this time, and upon her release and the end of her 10 year tour of duty, she immediately fled the attention of the Star Empire.

She appeared twice since then, first in a strike on a naval facility, commandeering an FTL capable bomber variant undergoing testing, and second during an incident in Vocian space, in which she is noted to have been pivotal in allaying fears that a false flag operation was Huerdaen. Her actions appeared to be unplanned, but despite that may have avoided a second war with the Imperial Star Republic.

Her arrival in the Hegemony, and the location of her stolen Imperial ship remain unknown. What is known, however, is that within 24 hours of her appearance, she had amassed a significant number of offenses against her. She attacked and downed a merchant vessel in her bomber, which has since not been seen, captured a military vehicle, and waged a small war for almost eight hours straight against local authorities. Her crimes were many and varied, including a single count of jaywalking that appears to have begun the rampage as she was approached regarding her trespasses. During this time, she sent at least 17 sentient beings to the morgue.

Her sudden decision to surrender came as a surprise to those involved, but she came peaceably and has not spoken since the conflict, though many say she laughed, cried, and taunted her foes during the events which brought her to the attention of the Hegemony.

Hue,

Your application is accepted, be advised that normally such actions would have brought the HSDF, on her with shoot to kill orders. I mean clipping seventeen Peace Keepers would have normally brought down the more professional military forces to enforce order. I think normally, a power armored equipped military police force being held up in a fire fight for eight hours to append someone with Special Operations skills would probably have drawn down a shit storm.

I will just assume that the H.I.M. agents that would have most likely interrogated her before her tribunal decided Aika was too unstable to be a true special operations soldier considering her chaotic actions. It wouldn’t make sense to their analytical minds, for a foreign nation's Spec ops member to surrender after putting up such resistance. I also have a feeling her treatment by her escorts would have been a little bit harsher than normal considering her actions with their street brethren.

Damn, I would have loved to RP that out... I hope her stay in the cells will be as entertaining..

Ah, well....yes. I had assumed something other than powered armor officers. I suppose the number should significantly fall. I can edit that if need be. However, I can certainly try to make her fairly interesting. As strange as it sounds, this is a thread where she's in recovery. This is helpful, see? She's getting better! I think...

Nah, It’s cool, I could just have it that the Hegemonic Marshals were the ones that were in the fire fight trying to arrest her for the jaywalking. These guys are the civilian auxiliary police force and they don’t have the power armor, or the extensive military training that the PKs have. They have some military experience from their obligatory draft duties back when they were seventeen.

I could say she was finally was taken once the Peace Keepers started to show up with an APC and several squads that were meant to take her down. This would explain the high death ratio, without the severe need to send in the HSDF Army, Marine, or Shadow Operations Teams that would have otherwise shown up to riddle her body with plasma bolts.

I hope, she does get better, hate to see her crying in the corner when the time counts to throw down in the prison after all..

I assumed the "17 sentient beings" line meant that she was shooting everyone in her immediate area, including civvies.

Understood, I am starting to think maybe Hue’s character should probably put a charge or two of manslaughter on his list of crimes convicted. I mean killing several Hegemonic Marshals and any civvie in sight with no justifiable cause would probably have been added to the list of charges other than that, I have no objections. I presume her sentence with all those charges would be a high one.

I wouldn’t be surprised, if she was sentenced to life sentence especially, dealing with the Hegemonic judicial code.

Sure, no problem there. I'm not giving specific counts. Honestly, I just sort of wrote things down for crimes and came up with what happened later. It seemed like that was more for flavor than anything. However many counts of violent activities you want to find her guilty of, go for it. I purposefully did not include wounded or other numbers, such as property damage. All in your court, man. Life in prison? Sure thing. Kind of expected that any time someone ended up in a place like this anyway. 'Life' seems like it would be somewhat...less long as it would be in other places.

Well yes, I understand just writing down list of crimes for flavor. I was just trying to add how the Hegemonic legal system would have placed the information before them. I mean, technically, she would have got murder charges and been sentenced to the death penalty. The problem is that her mental state is not in the best condition. I mean laughing, crying, and taunting the Hegemonic Marshals and Peace Keepers isn’t exactly the poster child for the most sane criminal. I think the Judges might show a little consideration when reading the report from the law enforcement agents, and just lowered the charge to manslaughter giving her a life sentence without parole.

Not everyone, in the system has a life sentence. I mean these prisons hold everyone from low level crimes like theft up too more drastic crimes like murder. The Hegemonic government sort of lumps together all offenders into the Penal Asteroids. They even have different sentences from a few years up too death row. The main purpose is to separate the dangerously illegal elements of society from the law abiding elements. This naturally has some side effects like turning once fairly law abiding people into criminals, but no system is perfect after all.

In truth however, the prison’s life sentence could be a short one pending on how your character handles being in this naturally predatory environment. I mean, if she is strong enough to handle herself and be able to protect herself, or make friends that can protect her from the smaller gangs/solitary criminal predators. She could be alright provided she doesn’t cross someone in the Big five mentioned in the Prison Gang section, or one of the Guards, and the Wardens. It really depends on her, and her actions that either draws attention to her, or not.

Sorry for the delayed response,

New Pyrrhius,

Your application is accepted, welcome to Lost In the System…

I do have a few questions, is your character just a “political prisoner” sent by your government as a test subject for their own correctional institutions? If so, is your government somehow “monitoring” Doctor Hansel Crowley, or is he sort of lost and forgotten inside the Hegemonic penal system? I am also wondering, is he serving a life sentence in Hegemonic correctional custody, or is he being loaned out as it were for a period of time?

New Pyrrhius wrote:Ah, I was afraid for this one.

As for the Pyrrhekski government's involvement, they will only become involved if there is a breakout. From there, they will request to begin their own investigation within the prison to find what went wrong, then cross-reference reports from their own prisons. As for the sentence, it's officially a life sentence, but is actually a cover-up for the possibility of bringing him out of the prison in the event that they need a talented pathologist to combat a new epidemic, which is in turn a cover-up for the correctional cross referencing project.

Whoever runs the correctional system in New Pyrrhius needs a hobby.

Okay,

That makes sense to me anyway. I was wondering, is the deal made with the Hegemonic government proper, or just with the H.I.M.? (Hegemonic Intelligence Ministry) I mean something like this like “handling” highly dangerous prisoners for a foreign power is something. I think they would be in the know about, if that is the case they would consider Doctor Crowley a high level interest prisoner. I could even see them trying to interrogate him on the side for his knowledge in bio-terrorism.

I just ask because, Crowley could end up in an interrogation room very quickly with some very “interested” agents of the Ministry. I don’t think they would send him to a black site because of the deal with your government. I do see them trying to get information about his particular field, however.

I also agree whoever runs the corrections system in New Pyrrhius does need a hobby, or get promoted/demoted out of their position.

Name: Arah Milok
Alias: N/A
Species: Andna (Description below)
Age: Biological equivalent to someone in their early twenties
Height: 5 feet, 3 inches
Weight: 61 kg
Eye Color: A blue glow, result of a neural implant for eyesight
Hair/Fur: A patch of long, brownish hair on the scalp, and splotches above the eyes. Otherwise hairless.
List of Crime or Crimes convicted: Convicted of smuggling weaponry, corrupting an officer of the law, and assault
Skills: Arah is very charismatic, quite intelligent and has had basic practice in brawling, though swinging blows is not her strong suit. Arah is overall a good talker, and is very good, shall we say, company. Arah is also capable medically. Her knowledge doesn't shape up to that of a professional but it's probably better than anyone else on this rock, save the prison doctors. Finally, Arah is a talented singer, like many of her species.
Personality: Arah is on the surface quite meek and quiet but has a hidden fierce side that shows only under pressing circumstances. Arah is a kind person overall, but is not above one or two unkind acts.
Bio: Arah was born on Eion, home planet of the Andna, to a poverty-stricken family in a poor region. From quite an early age, Arah learnt that if she wasn't tough enough, it helped to have friends who were. The area she lived in for a large portion of her life was lathered in crime and criminal networks. In her late teens (equivalent anyway) she joined the crew of a ship with disputable legality. The craft smuggled goods and weapons and Arah served on the ship to "deal" with the law when they came knocking. Her pay was substantial and most was sent back to her family. However, during a particularly large drug run to a foreign system, several rival gangs started a firefight in the spaceport as the ship was unloading.

Arah was injured and left for dead by the crew, who fled. She was given medical attention by a human migrant to the planet and stayed with the Human for several months, helping where she could and picking up her medical knowledge. After some time she found a job smuggling weapons into the Hegemony with a small-time clique. It wasn't long before Hegemony ships were intercepting them and bringing them into a port forcefully. Most of the crew was immediately arrested, Arah stayed hidden and floored a Hegemony Officer before escaping the small ship. She bumped into a high-ranking official and, well, let's just say her training dealing with the law came in handy.

The Official hid her for several days as some sort of Courtesan, but H.I.M soon found out and all of a sudden, no more Official, and in his stead, some chains. Arah was now on her way to the 18th Penal Asteroid of the Hegemony.

The Andna are a humanoid species which evolved on the very arid Terran planet of Eion. Andna skin is a very pale blue, from a pigment defect which slowly took over the species thousands of years ago. The species has little hair, and males are completely hairless apart from eyebrows and lashes. Hair is considered a feminine trait. Andna have two arms, and two legs. Andna have eight very slim and quick fingers on each hand, and four toes on each foot. Andna have very sharp claws on their hands, but as a mostly peaceful race, tend to either trim them or wear thick gloves.

Extra notes: Eion is a lot closer to the sun than Earth and near the edge of the Goldilocks Zone of it's system. As a result Andna are used to much higher temperatures than most races. This means they will be more comfortable in hot temperatures, but get very cold in temperatures found comfortable to most races. Andna have a tongue that splits in the throat before entering the mouth, giving the appearance of two smaller tongues. Andna have an extremely wide range of vocal chords, and can speak in such a high pitch, most races wouldn't be able to hear them. As a result, Andna also can hear a wider range of frequencies, and Andna singing is quite beautiful. Andna do not have ears as we consider them, but in fact can detect sound frequencies from small pores all around their bodies. As a result, they tend to be much quieter than many races as loud noise can be painful.
