King Alistar Dead, Daughter to be Queen (Open,MT,FanT)

Postby Arcadonisia » Tue May 06, 2014 7:26 pm

24 Hours Earlier..

Alistar’s head pounded violently in his head as he leaned against the balcony in his office that looked over the Royal Gardens, just behind the front of the Palace. He had been feeling ill for weeks now, slowly loosing strength as his body fought on to maintain some sense of normalcy for the sake of his daughter and his people who slowly began to notice his abnormal behavior. Wave after wave of nausea crashed over him as his vision blurred in front of him. His legs gave out as he slumped down against the cool stone floor, resting his head against the rails.

He sat there for some time in the darkness, faintly illuminated by the pale light from the Arcanium lanterns that lit the gardens below as he closed his weary eyes. The beating of his heart was irregular, struggling to keep the pace needed to keep him conscious as he struggled to pull himself up. The harder he tried to lift himself, the harder his heart and his muscles struggled, screaming in pain as they began to gridlock, stranding him there unable to move. The faint sound of knocking on the doors a few feet away stirred him from his drift into unconsciousness long enough for him to whisper loud enough for whoever it was to come to his aid. His daughter, Alyssa, heard his whisper and opened the door only to rush to his side and knelt down beside him encasing his hand in hers. “Father, are you alright?” asked Alyssa worryingly as hot tears streamed down her cheeks. Alistar struggled to lift his head, his cool blue eyes focusing on her as he slowly nodded while trying to smile. After forcing himself to stay alive, he put the rest of his strength into his mind, where he spoke to her using his weakening power of telepathy.

“My daughter, my body is broken. I didn’t want you to find out this way, but my body is dying. I’ve been struggling with this since your father died and I have been trying so hard to fight to be here for you.” Alyssa stood there, shaking her head in denial. Alistar felt her pain, and lifted his hand to stroke a stand of hair from her face as Alyssa spoke to him. “Why didn’t you tell me?” asked Alyssa as she struggled to maintain he composure. “I didn’t want you to worry about my health.." said Alistar as his voice faltered feeling his last remaining strength failing. “I have tried so hard to stay alive for you, but not even our strongest magic could stop death. Instead, it has given me the strength to postpone it long enough to see you grow into the strong woman you are today.” “There has to be something that can be done to save you!” replied Alyssa desperately. “There isn’t. I have already spoken to Mael, he has agreed that he will preside over my final arrangements to not burden you.” said Alistar as his heart slowed further, his voice now just barel audible as a low whisper. “Now that my time has come, it’s time for you to become the Alpha of our species and to rule our Kingdom. Your father and I am so proud of you, and I will always watch over you..” whispered Alistar as the light of life faded from his eyes, he lifted his hand and placed it over her heart as a single tear fell from his closing eyes. His chest ceased moving as he slumped back, his heart silent as Alyssa howled out in agony as she held her father for the last time, cursing the Gods for taking her family from her.

The Next Morning..

The streets of Sol Vera fell silent as the sun rose over the city the next morning as the new of Alistar's death spread like wildfire. All businesses were shut down as life ground to a halt. All eyes then turned to Alyssa, who was the only heir to the Throne. She was broken on the inside, fighting to stay strong for the millions who now looked to her for leadership and guidance during this crucial moment in History. The High Elder Mael turned to face the soon-to-be Queen and could only imagine the fear and sadness that now plagued her. She was like a daughter he never had, and patted her shoulder as she buried herself in his chest, seeking comfort in him as he informed her of the memorial service. "Your father would want you to stay strong my dear." said Mael in a strained voice. "I know." whispered Alyssa as she pulled herself together. "If you could take care of the rest, I would want to take charge of the arrangements for the memorial service." Mael hesitated, then sighed as he faintly smiled. "Of course, my Queen." Alyssa frowned upon hearing that, not willing to accept her new position of power, always seeing it as her father's rightful place. Now that he was gone, she tried her best to survive until this was all said and done, fearing what the future held for her.

The news wildfire didn't just stop there, it spread and spread. It consumed the media, filling the TVs of those sitting in their homes. Soon everyone knew, and everyone mourned. A neighboring country, also a single party, mourned and grieved for the lost leader, not because it was one of their own, but because of respect. And even Maximus, an Emperor now in his thirties, grieved with the rest of the nation. There was no warning, and nothing that they could've done anyways. The King was dead, and a new heir must be named.

Maximus had watched the TV, he had listened to the radio, he had practically done everything he could've. Except... Visit. He knew that if he wanted to get on good terms with the new queen, he would have to visit. Now he would, and he began composing a letter to send to the new Queen, trying to get on good terms.

Dear Queen Alyssa,

I cannot say any words that would ease your suffering, and I cannot do much, but I do wish to convey my condolences. Your father was a great leader, and those here in my nation have respected him ever since his reign started. I'm sure you've already been given letters from other people telling you advice, but I'm not here to offer advice. I'm here to offer help. If I may, I would like to visit your country, and mourn with you. I would like to attend his funeral, with my trusted advisors, and talk about an alliance.

I know how hard it must be, and I want you to know that this nation is here in your time of need.

Sincerely,
Emperor Maximus

2200 Hours: Nosamo, Guadalupador. (6/5/14)

Enrique Yanama was still up during the night, getting some last-minute legislation signed before he slumped into bed. As soon as his face hit the pillow, a figure appeared at his bedroom door. "Grand Premier, something's happened in Arcadonisia." A staffer announced into the dark room. Enrique slowly raised himself up, and out of the bed, rubbing his eyes, and going over to the staffer. The staffer handed a paper over towards him. "Just came in, Sir." The staffer said. "Yeah, alright." Enrique said, snatching the paper away from him tiredly. He went over to his end table, and turned on the lamp, putting on his reading glasses, he began to read the paper. "Veii...." Enrique said in a hushed tone. "No, not after the war..." Enrique said, before repeatedly cursing under his breath. "He's dead." Enrique said, standing up and brushing a few tears from his eyes. "And, Alyssa..." Enrique took off his glasses and put them down. "I want Yuna One up and running by tomorrow morning, I'm headed to Sol Vera." Enrique said, turning off the light, and shooing the staffer away.

Emperor Maximus,

I thank you for your condolences during this unfortunate time. You are more than welcome to visit to honor my father's memory, and we will have plenty of time for discussion of an alliance.

With the arrangements confirmed, everything was going according to plan. With Alyssa's guidance and the help of the Elders, the Temple was being decorated properly to not only mourn the passing of one of Arcadonisia's greatest Kings, but to celebrate his life and the beginning of Alyssa's reign as Queen, the first queen in 600 years. Outside the Palace, the gates were adorned with flowers and glowing candles as citizens gathered to mourn and pay their respects for their King. The streets were crowded as citizens from all corners of the Kingdom arrived to mourn and to celebrate Alistar's memory.

As Alyssa supervised the decorations and the arrangements, she fought desperately to keep the sadness of her loss at bay, pleading that she could just wake up from this unending nightmare. Still, as she pondered over her thoughts, she hoped she could fill the shoes that her father left behind, and to one day become legendary like him.

0900 Hours: Yuna One, 2100 Km Away from Arcadonisia. (7/5/14)

Enrique switched around to each news channel covering the event on his television. All he really saw was pictures of the late Arcadonisian King, as well as Her Majesty, Alyssa. "There's no new information." Enrique said, shifting back in his plush seat. He turned off the TV and sipped a glass of Crystal, that he brought back to Guadalupador from Sol Vera, the last time he was in Arcadonisia. "Only a month after the war's end, heh, maybe even less." Enrique said over the phone with the Dorian Ambassador to Arcadonisia, Hanako Serina. "If it puts you to ease, he did live a long life, by human standards at least." Ambassador Serina said. "How about that young girl that now has to deal with both the grief of losing her father, and leading a nation that's recovering from a war." Enrique said about Alyssa. "All I know, is that this year hasn't been kind to her at all, Enrique." Hanako said. On the other end, Enrique could hear Hanako's daughter start to talk about something to her. "Sorry, Enrique, duty calls, I'll see you at the airport." Hanako said before hanging up.

The New Edomite Embassy
The New Edomite embassy was a compound as was common, and had a circular drive at the front and a garden at the rear. It was a large spread out villa like home, with a gallery surrounding it.

Rikhard Holst, an Anglo-German, had been appointed Ambassador not only by the Foreign Minister, but by the Minister of Trade’s recommendation. He was a fairly recent replacement for a previous very formal and distant ambassador., and had been instructed to find discreet ways for more commerce to be done by the two nations.

He was a man who had a great deal of energy that was contained in a veneer of calm; even resting he was like a panther, as though his body contained a ferocity and zest for life that was barely contained. He nodded that morning to a pair of servants who placed chilled orange juice, hot cakes, and fruit on the long table facing the screened veranda.

The phone rang as he examined the morning newspaper on his ipad—he spoke briefly with the head of an industrial trade delegation (focusing largely on provision of developed materials such as plastics) that had been visiting the country for a convention, discreetly of course.

As he was talking a lovely dark haired light olive skinned woman, slim but curvaceous, quite naked, as naked as he in fact, came walking out into the breakfast room from around a corner. “Mmm…what a lovely night…”

He smiled but continued to talk to the delegate until they were done the conversation. The woman’s gracefulness and charm delighted him, but there were many women in the world, and his affair with his PA was not the first he had had. His wife had (of course) disdained to come—she was determined to stay in Teman no matter what happened, apparently, with their two oldest children in the military and wanting to support them…

Mya was right though—it had been a lovely night. There was something to be said about women who’d had an Intellectual Party education…

They were living in a Plus Energy designed house built by Green Technologies—intended to actually produce rather than merely consume energy. Holst was amazed at it—in a world where you had to look out for number one, it only made sense to not be tied too much to a larger economy. Increasingly big corporations tended to want you to be their utter slaves, but he, like most Temanite ETC, was a libertarian at heart, believing in a modest socialist government that looked after the collective whole while individuals and families tended to look after their own and form economic communities to their benefit.

Mya had returned; he idly enjoyed the slight quiver of bosom and sway of her hips as she came in and stepped aside, to reveal a man of average height but extra presence, his face dark and narrow, his nose thin, his skin dark, eyes almost black, a beret tucked into an epaulet, a thick but very neat moustache and short goatee, wearing neat barracks dress. "Your Excellency," he said, his face tense.

"Thank you Mya. Captain, what's wrong?" said Holst, rising and offering a bow.

"The King is dead. Princess Alyssa is Queen.” said the man.

"Yes. We are preparing to forward message of condolence …”

Asher looked displeased, and tapped his swagger stick against his palm, which looked hard and dry, his fingers long and strong looking. "Excellency, we have an opportunity here, and I think that the President has been poorly advised. Does he know what a nation of perverts this is? I can barely stand to go out in the streets, it’s worse than Maraque or Ganosia. People dancing..men dressed as women..."

Holst knew he had to nip this one in the bud. "Captain, I'm afraid that advising on policy is under my authority. Now all you have to do is make sure that a letter sealed and in diplomatic pouch reaches the palace, addressed to the Queen from the President of the Council via the Embassy. Is that clear?"

The man had an enigmatic look on his face. Damned Haranese, thought Holst. How could you figure out what they were thinking.

At this a shadow of a smile appeared on Asher's face, he nodded to him, and gave a stiff bow and click of his heels before departing. Holst only breathed a sigh of relief when he was gone. Mya frowned. “I wonder what that was about? Do you think he knows something we don’t?”

Holst sighed wearily. “No…yes…maybe?” he accepted her putting an arm around him to comfort him.

"Who are they going to send?" Mya asked.

Holst raised his eyebrows and shook his head. "How should I know? I'm only the Ambassador..."

Your Majesty,

I wish to convey to you my country's condolences on the death of your father the King, as well as those of Her Majesty Queen Mara I whom I serve as her first minister. Your family has been through many trials and ordeals of late, and while our country's may have their differences I nevertheless am sorry for that. Nevertheless I am sure that you have the strength to endure for the sake of your people.

It is my intention to send an envoy of appropriate rank and authority to convey our country's respects, if it is acceptable, and to show our recognition of your ascension to the throne.

Autopsy Lab, Sol Veran Regional Medical Center

Dr. Sullivan sighed when he read the chart on his newest arrival to be examined. He knew the King very well, especially after the Toulupum Fever outbreak several years prior. When he pulled back the white sheet covering the King's body, his skin was a greyish blue as his body began to show the signs of something off, something that could only be caused by genetics. He then took a small skin sample and sent the results in to examine DNA, hoping that the cause of death could be determined.

Several hours later, the results were in as Sullivan began to piece together the fabric of the King's DNA. Something about the odd combination of certain genes and proteins caught his attention as he looked further. Knowing of the ATCG proteins in most life forms, he found an older 5th protein, specifically mutated to the point in which only the Anukkai possessed it, which he called Quarine. As he dove deeper, he recognized that this protein was responsible for their innate magical abilities, advanced lifespans and unique skin pigmentation. What troubled him was of a rare mutation within this protein that triggers a fatal chain of events, similar to the ones that resulted King's death. Sullivan then discovered that this mutation was passed on to Alyssa who was unknowingly at risk for the mutation to become active. He sent his results to his superiors, and continued to work to see if this mutation could be forced into permanent dormancy.

Mr. Perrin,

I thank you and accept your condolences. I too recognize the stark differences on the ideals that our two nations embody and cherish, and hope that those differences can be cast aside for diplomatic reasons. I also accept your request to send an envoy to represent your nation to honor my father's passing, and appreciate your recognition of my right to rule as Queen.

The massive private jet that held the leader was painted jet black on the bottom, with the DEN roundel on the rudder, and forward swept back wings. The plane had six large jet engines on it, which kept it moving at an acceptable pace, allowing it to go supersonic, at least Mach 1.2. It looked like an older heavy bomber, and indeed it was. It still had the cannon turrets on the dorsal, ventral, and tail positions, and even APS and missile defense systems, as a plane should. Onboard, though, it didn't carry just the leader, but a platoon of guards for the funeral.

Slowly, the plane began landing on the friendly airport, the flight had been long and tiring, but they had made it to the country safely. After landing, Maximus, Führer Vladimir, and the twenty guards began walking down the gangplank onto the runway to meet the queen.
The beatings will continue. Regardless of morale.

“The stupid freak got the President’s name wrong,” said Lalery, sitting down in the lounging area near the desk in the office of the Ambassador, idly glancing at Mya and Captain Asher before looking back at Holst.

“I don’t think she’s stupid, I think that she and her staff are distraught,” said Holst. “And I’m not sure that that’s a productive line of consideration, Your Serenity.”

“I think it is, with all due respect,” Captain Asher said. “She is a freak. An unnatural demonic creature. This is a hellish place.”

“Yes,” Lalery said. “But you know, Captain, the President has concerns right now. Deadora. Hutanjia. Norvenia. Regnum Albion. Valyria. Seahold. Shalum. Do these names ring a bell? Right now in our region there are several points of vulnerability. All hell has broken out in Hutanjia—the UFF rising up again, attacks on the Hutanjian fleet by the Cardwithians, bombardments of our bases in West Cardwith. And you think the President might want to undermine a foreign government here? Your request for funding for black bag operations is denied.” He stared the man down, Asher paling and then flushing angrily but not able to meet the Count’s gaze.

“At the same time we don’t want to be too close to these damned people. The Stonewall Alliance is another international paper tiger, let it fade on its own, we maintain diplomatic neutrality with them. The trade show…the Minister of Commerce is not going to back it.”

“That’s a mistake.” Holst said. “Trade is trade.”

“Our policy is that we do not approve of homosexuality. We are a Christian nation.” Lalery said firmly. “We are nevertheless charitable. Limited trade with them. Captain Asher is right in spirit, Ambassador Holst. You’ve been infected with internationalism. We deal with these people, we don’t accept them. There’s a big diference. This is courtesy, nothing more.”

Damned arrogant bastard, thought Holst. For all of Lalery’s swagger, it was the Interim Government, not the Monarchy, that held power now. He’d better be reminded of it. Maybe that was why he was touchy—the Government hadn’t sent a cabinet minister or anything. Was that a mild slap in the face, sending the Queen’s cousin on such an errand? But how could it not be openly taken as a compliment? That was probably it… “Sir, throughout the history of Christianity there have been many ways that the Faith has been spread. There are examples of trade being a means for it. As you say, the Stonewall Alliance is fading, but New Edom is on the rise. The seeds are small, as Christ tells us, but through careful nurture they grow large. I am not promoting acceptance of the LGBT lifestyles, but rather that we have much to offer—and that our faith is the guiding star of that. You yourself have promoted an economic alliance with nations that more subtly but definitively approve of the LGBT lifestyle.”

“If you can guarantee that they won’t corrupt us rather than we influence them. If its clear. Think about it—movies, television, products—may carry that approval. We can’t have that. So be careful, Mr. Holst.” He suppressed a yawn. “Sorry, jetlag. I’ll see you at the ceremony then. Thank you all.”

They got up, politely bowing as he left.

From Her Majesty the Queen of Alqania

To Her Majesty the Queen of Arcadonisia

Dear sister,

I was devastated to hear that my good brother, your father the King, had departed this world. Alas, the burden of the Crown makes it no easier to understand the Gods or the cruelty of life. I know your family has suffered greatly in recent times and I shudder to think of the tragedy in your current situation.

It is with a heavy heart that I solemnly accept your kind & generous invitation to partake in the celebration of your father's life and the mourning of his death. If it pleases you, I shall stay in Sol Vera and attend your coronation as well. I ask that I may be accompanied by my three consorts, Amelia, Charles and Patrick.

Deigning to assure you that as a Queen you have many brothers & sisters who will not hesitate to come to your aid, in the event that you should ever need it, I am pleased to recognise your sovereignty and to call you my good sister. I trust that you will make an excellent, just, compassionate and loving Queen, of that I have no doubt. I hope that you will not hesitate to count on me as a sister and a friend, both in good times and in bad.

Please accept my condolences and my assurance that you will remain in my prayers, as will your fathers.

Your good sister,

Dear Alexia III,

I thank your for your kind support after the untimely death of my father. I am pleased to know that there are those out there who have the compassion to offer help during the lowest points of one's life. You are also more than welcome to attend the memorial service and my coronation and bring as many as you wish should you feel inclined to do so. I look forward to your visit.

DEAR QUEEN ALYSSA!

So... we meet again. This time as head of different state, with different goals. I am Martinezist no more, as I found other solution for my people. All when Gran Cuscatlan is dead. I am writing you a letter just to inform you, that I recognize you as new head of state of Arcadonisia. I also want to promise that no attacks on Arcadonisia from my side will be made.

I hope that you however see your mistakes and repent from it... but I won' t make you do it either. Good luck!

In the Royal Palace, Alyssa was holding a meeting to discuss the procedures on handling the coming influx of foreign diplomats who wished to mourn the loss of Alistar. While discussing security measures, the topic of New Edom's attendance was brought up, with a cautious tone by several of those in attendance. "I don't think they should be allowed to attend, considering their high disrespect for our liberal culture, our policies and the legitimacy of Alyssa's right to rule." said High Commander Nathan Steele of the Royal Guard as he leaned forward in his seat. "I agree wholeheartedly." said Alyssa as she frowned of the very mention of their attendance. "I have heard the stories of their kind continuously disrespecting our cultural rites, cursing our very existence and pressing the expansion of their religion everywhere they go." said Alyssa as she adjusted herself in her seat. "However, we need to be the better people and allow them to attend." Reluctantly, everyone agreed even as most cast disappointed glances.

An hour later, Alyssa was escorted by 20 of the Royal Guard to the Airport to meet Maximus. The sun shown brightly as the neared the plane, seeing Maximus and his men walking towards her. "Welcome to Arcadonisia." stated Alyssa in a friendly tone.

Mr. Silva,

I remember you well after dealing with the numerous occasions my father has dealt with you. I thank you for your recognition for my ascent to the Throne, and I will hold you to your word that no attacks from you or anyone associated with you will be launched against my people.

I do not understand what you mean by mistakes, as I assure you that I make no intentions on making none. I fully intend however on continuing my father's legacy and continuing his work. I thank you for your recognition of my authority and hope all our differences can be set aside.

Yours,

1200 Hours: Sol Vera International Airport, Arcadonisia. (7/5/14)

Yuna One touched down on the landing strip, the maroon and gold colored aircraft headed towards the nearest open terminal, as people in the terminal could see "Federali Unyone do Guadalupador" in gold lettering along the cabin of Yuna One as it pulled in to dock. Enrique got out of his seat, and gestured Emilia to follow him out into the terminal. His secret service agents cleared a path through the gates. Ambassador Serina greeted him at the gate, joining him in walking over towards the exit of the terminal. "She should be here, somewhere..." Ambassador Serina said shifting her eyes around to look for Queen Alyssa.

DEAR QUEEN ALYSSA!

Despite our differences, I request permission to attend to the event. I give you Soldier's world that no attacks - verbally or physically - will be launched against you during the meeting. I need simply to regulate few things we had in the past - and I hope it ends with peace which we have been awaiting. Gran Cuscatlan is dead for me, so you do not have to worry.

Mr. Silva,

You are more than welcome to attend my father's memorial service. I look forward to achieving the peace my father worked desperately to obtain with you. I trust you on your word and I hope your journey here is safe.

"Enrique, it's a pleasure to see you again on such short notice." said Alyssa in a pleasing tone, with a hint of sadness underneath. "It's a shame that we get to meet again after my father's death. I'm sure he would have loved to see you again."

"This is my Minister of State Affairs, her name's Emilia Numa." Enrique introduced Emilia to Alyssa, trying to keep off the subject of Alistar. After introducing the two, he began to walk along with Alyssa. "I'm so sorry for your loss..." Enrique whispered sadly. "The burden of an entire nation is no easy one, especially someone your age." Enrique said. "I mean I'm twenty six, and it stresses me out so much. You, however, you're a stronger person than I am." Enrique said to Alyssa as they walked towards the exit.

Black plane was flying through the air, cutting through the skies in half like a razor sharp blade. Inside, Gen. Carlos Silva, newly elected Caudilho of Paratapais, president for life and leader of the nation, looked on Sol Vera lights below. He looked and smiled.

He disagreed STRONGLY with Alyssa, but he wished her bad neither. For him homosexuality was evil - this did not meant that homosexuals were to be exterminated. For Silva homosexuality was crime, but it did not mattered now. He had political deal to make. And he will accomplish it - ending a war Aliva has started in his times in Gran Cuscatlan.

Smoking a Cuban cigar, Latin American dictator was coming here in fame of revolutionary, fame of man who brought down first world army with defected soldiers and militia and inflicted them so big Casualities that Hispanic Supremacists who wanted to wipe out Portuguese - speaking Paratapaians failed miserably and were begging for pace. Which Silva accepted, as he knew this was the price he had to pay.

His plane has landed. At first, advance team left the plane. They were in black uniforms, FN FNC in their hands, checked everything and returned to the plane. Silva was in his usual black ceremonial uniform. Around him in box formation walked four men from BOEP in black uniforms and FN FNC in their hands, covering 360* angle around Caudilho.

He entered terminal, and tried to avoid Yanama not to cause trouble. He was too busy walking to his motorcade which was to drive him to his hotel.

"I hope so." stated Alyssa doubtfully. "Of course, you are much older that I am. Here I am, less than 7 years old, with the intellect and physical appearance of a 25 year old. I have learned much from my fathers, as they have taught me everything I would need to know when this day came." said Alyssa with a slight warmth in her words as she fondly remembered both of her fathers. "My dad used to tell me that even with all of the knowledge he could give me to learn how to rule fairly and justly, by instinct, I would know what to do. I am now the most powerful Arukkai ruler since my father. The blood of my ancestors run through me, and yet somehow, I'm not afraid to rule anymore. It's almost as if my nature compels me to react, guiding me almost."

"Less than seven? Well, that, my friend, was a complete surprise. And here I was about to offer you a brandy..." Maximus responded kindly, rather surprised that she was only seven. He had thought she was twenty five, or even thirty. Still, he would go along with it, and still act rather casual. "I can only imagine your loss. If we can help, that would hopefully ease your pain."

"I thank you for your kindness." replied Alyssa. "As a general rule, Arukkai are allowed to drink alcohol once they fully mature. In my case, I reached full maturity last month, shortly before my father passed away. My age is nothing short of astounding when compared to human years. While humans like you live to be 80, or even 100, my people can live to be well over 300 to 400 years old."
