The League of Imperial Nations
We Live...No Matter The Cost

The League is a sovereign body composed of an international brotherhood, with one singular purpose. We are those who will not tolerate weakness, chaos, anarchy, the root of many evils in the modern world. We will not tolerate those who create such errors in the human condition, and we will ensure that all who suffer from them are liberated. In a world such as that of today, ideas which thankfully languished behind barriers of sea and land are free to roam, and free to cause danger. At the same time, the broadening horizons of man have led to incredible advances, all of which bring the power to help or hinder our species.

The League is not a mindless behemoth, lashing out like a reactionary dictator at the mere sound of the word 'democracy'. If the popular masses are a blade, it is weak. It lacks direction. A sword with no singular edge is useless. We of the League of Imperial Nations seek to temper the populist blade with the keen edge of certainty that only a firm hand can give.

Yet in this new era of enlightenment and progress, the evils of the past haunt us still. War, famine, pestilence, genocide; all signs that mankind is not yet ready to embrace her destiny. To prepare the world for its eventual transcendence, for a truly global environment in which no lines on the map divide the human race, the League of Imperial Nations will strive with unceasing effort to give rise to a bold new system that spans all the seas of the world in the hope that one day, man may live in peace with his fellow man.

The Council;

It is the the Council who form the leadership of the League, divided into two key components; the Proconsuls, and the Quorum. Every year, two Proconsuls are elected by the body of the League. In turn, each is advised by the Quorum, an trio of members established to advise the Proconsuls in matters of state and to have specific roles delegated to them as such. Traditionally, each member of the Quorum has focused on certain tasks.

The Herald is responsible for the oversight of recruitment and in coordinating alliance-wide messages, and is expected to be most discriminating in this. Failure to live up to the League's standards in this most important of roles is ill-advised.

The Marshal is responsible for conducting the symphony of death that is the League's wars. When such proud nations as we enter the fray, we do not subscribe to the common tragedy that is collectivisation in the name of standardisation. As such, Wrath must coordinate the actions and plans of those in our number who do battle together.

The Arbitrator is responsible for ensuring that our brothers and sisters follow our mandates, and carries the rebuke of the League to those who do not. It is their responsibility to bring trial against those who wilfully violate our customs, and their duty to resolve all disputes between the member-states of the League.

Supernumerary Councillors:

Vetok - Trade/Military Member
Vocenae - Trade/Military Member

Regulations and Customs of the League:

1. It is the sovereign right of the Proconsuls to decide whether the League makes war, and when to end it. However, once war has been declared, the conduct of military operations lies in the hands of the individual members and the Marshal.
a) The Proconsuls are encouraged not to use this power lightly.
2. In addition to this, the Proconsuls must initiate votes on the application of new members. All votes will require the unanimity of the Council as a whole.
a) The Proconsuls shall not be permitted to vote in the election of the Quorum.

1. No member of the Quorum shall be permitted to intercede in matters not befitting their task. Should the Marshal show interest in recruiting a nation beneficial to a war plan, he shall ask the Herald to recruit them. The sole exception in this role is if the necessary Quorum member is absent.
2.Each member of the Quorum is permitted to take an assistant to aid them in their tasks should the workload be excessive. However, this is not to be abused, as any member of the Quorum who lets their assistant carry out the majority of their tasks will be stripped of rank.
a) The Herald may nominate a number of nation-members to take on the role of Envoy. Envoys are to 'show the flag' and raise awareness of the League in order to assist with recruitment. As with all regular assistants, Envoys are counted as supernumerary, and have no voting role on the affairs of the Council.
3. In concert with the Proconsuls, it is the sole right of the Quorum to vote upon new members. All votes will require the unanimity of the Council as a whole.
a) No member of the Quorum may vote in the election of new Proconsuls.

The Code
1. Councillors are allowed and encouraged to express their opinions, so long as they are expressed in a mature and respectful manner. The League does not demand friendship, only comradeship.
2. References to mundane issues need to be kept to a minimum wherever and whenever possible (I.e., Respect the illusion).

C. Conduct Violations
1. The council will not tolerate the following:
a) Cheating (violating rules dishonestly or the practising of fraud / trickery)
b) Grossly verbal profane / derogatory behaviour towards other councillors or their members (Derogatory: having the effect of belittling. Profane: manifesting disrespect/vulgarity).
c) Mild expletives and non-sexual anatomical references are allowed but strong vulgar language, crude or explicit sexual references, hate speech, etc, are not.
d) Airing petty arguments/one liners.

2. All such violations and the punishment for them is determined by the Arbitrator.

Indeed, but a lot of time has been taken up with other commitments and sorting out the mess we've got on our hands. Hopefully however we can make a start on something at some point.

If everyone could pop onto the IRC at some point today or tomorrow, that would be greatly appreciated. It won't take too long, I promise.

Following the discussion on the IRC, the OP has been updated with the new assistant position of Envoy. At the moment myself and Finium have the role, and should either New Edom or Vocenae wish to take up the same role, please TG me or post here so I may add you to the list.
