Honestly I'm amazed there managed to be 521 states in the first place. I mean I know they're all pretty much their own semi/mostly/kinda independent fiefdoms, but logistics and administration would be a bitch with that amount of states regardless.

It all begins with the royal family. Only thr eldest male legitimate child inherits the throne in Luttonwic, the others get their own states, so thI number of states grow as generations pass.

I was thinking about maybe the Wolfians and Social Republic compounding and merging states together, to form a more united nation. That would help tie things in without retcon.

I really don't feel like digging them up. All I can picture is Themoi troops refusing to fire a second time until their opponent shoots, and allowing their foes to get across rivers and fight them on even ground instead of taking advantage and striking at the opportune time.

Wolfians have honor too, but that only extends to allowing the enemy to retreat without having to worry about being shot in the back.

Well, our system is ostensibly more closely modelled after the Chinese model, in which, under male primogeniture, the principal heir inherits the rule, the land, and title, but all other heirs receive a parcel of that inherited land, the rules thereof, and subordinate titles thereunder. This process starts with the king, whose eldest, legitimate male child inherits the entire nation, and the remaining children inheriting their own fiefdoms as "state rulers", a term that I have used liberally in this RP without much explanation, continues with state rulers, whose eldest, legitimate male heir inherits the rule, when the remaining children of the state ruler become "officials", or luga, ruling their ki, and ends with those lugales, whose legitimate heir inherits the ki, and remaining children become "gentlemen", who don't own any heritable land, but rather are assigned a small piece of land to which he is entitled for his lifetime, in collecting taxes and exacting services from the commoners working that land, in return of which labour, he must also use his expertise to assist the cultivation of that land and improve the general welfare of the people on it. In short, the eldest male legitimate heir gets the same title, while all others are demoted one rank.

Girls don't receive anything in most states, so Jane's inheritance is exceptional but not unheard of.

They're big, wide sleeves. Technically, they're supposed to be about 77cm wide (reaches the ground when arms are relaxed), but that doesn't fit well with lineart.
