Memphis, Tarkin's HQ. 12 March 2109

The Emperor and the Court were taken to the War Room. Tarkin eagerly reported.

"The war is going well. The FEA's government have fled and Washington is almost defenseless. By tonight we can enjoy a drink in the White House. We have no deaths to report."

The Emperor then rose.

"That is well, however, this war ends now."

The Commanders looked shocked.

"As the Commander in Chief, I order our forces to return to the Empire. Moreover, a new decree has been passed, Minister Tarkin, regarding the powers of the Nobility. Your freedoms are being curtailed, for as long as a citizen is in military or government service, they may not belong to any political party or faction with restrictions on your first Amendment rights, and for nobles to retain their status as nobles, they are required to be in military or government service."

*Along with the Emperor and his group was the Young soldier, Stan Corrigan. He stood back and quietly listened to the conversation. His father would not be pleased with the new direction the Emperor was taking, however, Stan could care less. His only job was to serve the Empire well. Now he just wondered what would become of his ancestral home of East America. He could not deny, it would be nice to see the America's united, and Tarkin was the man to do that...however, the Emperor had other plans, so he would go with that. He held his gun, if Tarkin or his men tried anything, he would make sure they failed.*

Tarkin just stared at Maximilian. He realised it was over. He turned to his Commanders.

"Give the order to withdraw. We'll say we have restored order."

The men tentatively nodded and went to carry out the order. If anything, the East was left devastated.

Imperial Senate, Nevermore. 12 March 2109

That evening the Emperor and the Court returned. A large group assembled outside of the Palace, and Maximilian stood on a balcony to address them.

"These past few weeks have been traumatic for the American continent. However, through the intercession of the Imperial Military and cooperation with President Rogers have led to an end of any threat of Rebellion in the Americas. Today, we shall see both American States growing and maturing, becoming stronger through this ordeal, as we rise from the ashes. If the FEA is willing, the Imperial Republic will offer them a loan to help them rebuild."

Washington DC, FEA. 13 March, 2109

*The government had returned to Washington. Rebuilding was underway already and President Rogers had accepted the loan from the Empire. Things were finally looking up again. However, the population of the Federation were shaken. They didn't know how to respond to what had happened. Many were now turning to new groups for protection. Many were turning to radical leftist groups who offered the people new life, freedom, and safety. At one of the rallies for the Socialist parties, General Marshall attended the rally. He had always been a leftist, and now he wanted to see what one of the most powerful parties was like, and quite frankly, he liked what he heard.*

Imperial Palace, 13 March, 2109

The Emperor signed the document, loaning $20 billion to the FEA. Moreover, work would start up again on the transcontinental rail to connect the two States economically.

Maximilian put his pen down and looked out his window and smiled. The Nobility were now locked into his bidding, preventing anyone from challenging the authority of the Emperor. However, things were not sitting well. Tarkin showed him what people could do unchecked. He couldn't allow that. He pressed a buzzer to his Secretary.

"Have Minister Smith brought in, on the nature of Imperial security and surveillance."

*At the end of the rally, Marshal went about, speaking with others at the rally. He was still walking with his cane, he walked slowly and with a limp. After a few moments, the leader of the Socialist Party, Erin Vosniak, walked up to Marshal.*
Vosniak: "General Fred Marshal. I didn't expect to see you here."
Marshal: "I wasn't expecting you to know who I am."
Vosniak: "I know all the important people in Washington. So, what are you doing here?"

Vosniak: *She smiled.* "And what do you think?"

Vosniak: *She smiled some more.* "Tell me, General, how interested are you in politics?"

Imperial Palace, Nevermore. 13 March, 2109

At the end of his meeting with the Minister of Intelligence, the Emperor gave Smith a final instruction.

"I want to know everything that goes on in the Empire from now on. Every house, every business, every street, everything said and done is to be reported."

The Minister smiled, saluted, and left. As he was leaving, the Minister of Education entered.

"Your Imperial Majesty, you wished to see me?"

"Yes, there is a new curriculum I wanted to run by you..."

Yalta, Eurasia. 1 April, 2109

*In Yalta, a meeting of the worlds Communist powers happened in Moscow. Attending the meeting was President Jiang of China, President de Santiago of South America, President Brankovic of Yugoslavia, Presidnet Durani of Afghanistan, and of course, President Rostov of Eurasia. They were outside of the building. It was a beautiful day out. The sun was shining, waves could be heard, people were outside. Rostov couldn't help but smile. It was de Santiago who spoke first.*
de Santiago: "So, Rostov, what are we meeting about today?"
Rostov: "What do you think? We need to advance our plans."
*He sat down at the table, a servant poured him some wine.*
Rostov: "The Emperor is now the absolute monarch of the Imperial Republic. He controls everything that is going on in the Empire...and probably, his allies."
*The other leaders sat quietly and listened.*
Rostov: "The Emperor already has considerable control in the United Kingdom, Persia, the UAR, Israel, Mali, and France. It's only a matter of time before they all unite under one nation. If that happens, the Empire could march on the entire world, destroying the freedom we are trying to bring to the people of the world."
Jiang: "So, what are we going to do about it?"
Rostov: "We need to make sure that they stop growing. There are only a few places left in the world that aren't allied with someone, and it's only a matter of time before the Empire moves on those places...we need to hit first." *He looked at Durani.* "You're going to be the first stage of our plan.:
*Durani looked at him. He was confused.*
Durani: "What do you mean?"
Rostov: *He smiled.* "The Empire loves a good conflict, and it seems Afghanistan is on the brink of another one."

Imperial Palace, Nevermore. 5 April, 2109

The Emperor and Grand Vizier just returned from a trip abroad. Following the end of the war in East America, Maximilian and his Ministers began a tour of the Dominion of Africa. Although still developing, economic growth was strong in West and Central Africa. Already in the past year, almost a thousand secondary schools were constructed and on par with Imperial regulations and standards found in the Crownlands. Lastly, their public works were showing fruit as new roads and rails were almost completed, linking the Empire's African territory economically.

When the Emperor arrived at the Palace, Minister Smith showed him a report that the Socialists had met in Yalta. Maximilian smiled.

"We'll keep our eyes out."

Afghanistan. April, 2109

*It seemed that what Rostov had said was true. Afghanistan was indeed on the brink of civil war. After gaining independence from the Empire, a democratically elected government had come to power. It was comprised of communists, secularists, republicans, Islamists, and nationalists. After months of cooperation, things had become tense. The communists and secularists had been growing weary of the Islamists and nationalists and the population was now becoming more and more divided along beliefs. After growing tensions, eventually, Durani and his communist followers lead a coup which overthrew the Islamists and nationalists. This of course divided the nation even more and now, it seemed that civil war was inevitable as Durani tightened his grip on power. Most of Durani's supporters had concentrated themselves in the North and in major cities while Islamists and nationalists were in the South. The two sides were on the brink. Eurasia had promised the government support in the event of Civil war...and were secretly hoping that the Empire would support the other side.*

Imperial Palace, Nevermore. 6 April, 2109

During his meeting with the Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs rose and gave his report on the state of other nations. Eventually he got to Afghanistan.

"Since gaining independence, Afghanistan has become more divided, and Civil War is likely. Eurasia has already pledged support for the government, and with their help, the Government will be able to crush the South and bring, unabashed, a true Communist Government. It is further likely that Afghanistan will join the EF"

Maximilian thought about it. On one hand, drawing the Communists into a protracted war would weaken them. On the other, it may draw them into a similar conflict.

"Invite Shah Farouk to Nevermore."

Washington DC, FEA. 7 April, 2109

*In the White House, President Rogers looked out his window. Washington was being rebuilt. Construction crews dominated the city as the rebuilt buildings and monuments. He had been getting reports that all known rebels were being round up and arrested. Things were finally returning back to normal. In November, new elections would be held. He knew that the Socialists would win, but he didn't care. As long as East America was back on it's feet, everything would be fine. His Secretary of defense, McAllen, entered into his office. He held a stack of papers.*
McAleen: "President Rogers, reports from around the world."
Rogers: "Thank you McAllen." *He read the reports over.* "Trouble in Afghanistan? What is the Empire doing about it?"
McAllen: "Not sure sir. We believe however that they are very interested in what is going on there."
Rogers: *He nodded.* "I see." *He continued reading. Also on the report was news about a major trade agreement between China and several East Asian states, a planned meeting between European nations in Brussels, and a military drill in South America, testing out the newest equipment in their military.*

Imperial Palace, Nevermore. 7 April, 2109

Early in the afternoon, the Shah of Persia arrived with his Court. He and Maximilian, old friends, embraced before they went into the Emperor's office for a meeting.

"Farouk, some things have been bothering us. Afghanistan is on the brink of Civil War, and it would be a calamity if it spilled into either of our lands. However, there is a solution that will benefit both of us and hurt the Eurasians."

The Shah leaned in, interested.

"Elaborate, my friend."

"The South is rich in strong Islamic nationalism, the kind of people who are naturally supportive of your Government. When war breaks out, you can intervene on their behalf, and when the dust is cleared and the Eurasians are tired of war, you can annex the South."

The Persian smiled.

"It shall be done."

Kandahar, Afghanistan, 10 April, 2109

*The city of Kandahar had been a stronghold for the Islamist and Nationalist factions in Afghanistan for a while. The two were in complete control of the city. During the early hours of the day, government forces began bombarding the city. Eurasian jets, given to the Afghan government, began to bomb the city from above. After the initial bombardment, government forces entered into the city. Fighting between the two forces was fierce. The government troops had been trained by the Eurasians and were equipped with Eurasian weapons. Islamic leader, Abdul-Haq commanded his forces into battle himself. The rebels used mostly outdated Eurasian technology with some old Imperial weapons in use.*

Brussels. 10 April, 2109

*Elsewhere in the world, leaders from all over Europe were gathering in Brussels. It was rumored that the nations were going to sign a new agreement that would aim for unifying the continent even more, allowing for free travel between states, and possibly, the recreation of a European Union.*

Tehran, Persia. 10 April, 2109

The Shah watched the attack in Afghanistan from his Palace. He sighed, realising the Eurasians would have Afghanistan if he did nothing. A large group had gathered in the public square under the Palace. He went to greet them.

"My brothers, today, the aggressive atheist Eurasian Federation has attacked our Muslim brothers in Afghanistan. For too long have we done nothing to curb the excesses of the infidels. Therefore, I call for a holy crusade, a jihad, against the Eurasians. As our brethren did over 120 years ago, so to shall we. We shall fight them in the desert. We shall fight them in the mountains. We shall fight them in the cities. We shall fight them everywhere, until Afghanistan is free!"

The crowd cheered the Shah. He returned inside where his Generals were assembled. He began.

"The 28th Mechanised and the 92nd Armoured will be sent to combat the Eurasians in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, we shall send supplies to the local Mujahideen."

The Generals nodded. At last they would be able to test out their newest weaponry.

Brussels

King Alexander and King Arthur arrived in Brussels, along with Grand Vizier Alexandre, for the European summit. The three cousins sat together.

Moscow, Eurasia. 10 April, 2109

*Rostov listened to the Shah's message. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He knew that Iran and the Empire would respond to his move on Afghanistan...but he never figured in this way. He sighed. He would have to deal with Iran later. Meanwhile, he sent a message to someone. Operation Crusade is a go.*

Brussels

*Leaders from the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Poland, the Batlics, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ireland, and even Eurasia and Yugoslavia arrived in Brussels. As soon as everyone was there, Chancellor Lehrer began to speak.*
Lehrer: "Esteemed leaders, I thank you all for joining me today. Of course, you should know why we're all here. Many years ago, our continent was united under a political and economic union. After the Hungarian wars on conquest, the European Union feel apart and since then, our great continent has been divided. Today, we are all here to return peace to our continent. I am proposing that we agree to a free travel association between our nations. We should allow for free travel between our countries for our citizens. This could help bolster relations between our nations and hope that another major war never befalls the continent again. I also understand that some nations here may be hesitant to the idea of a European Union, that is why, joining the Union is voluntary for anyone who wishes to join."

Persian-Afghan Border. 10 April, 2109

Jets flew across the border, targeting Afghan military and Eurasian forces. Moments later, the 92 Armoured invaded using their latest weapons; a hybrid weapon of a tank and Mekhon. Their goal was to take out Eurasian and Government forces in the South.

Brussels

King Alexander rose to speak.

"With all due respect, Chancellor, how will this make Europe safer? By allowing free travel, will this not allow terrorists and paramilitary groups from infiltrating our nations mode easily? Do I have to remind everyone of the Black Knights?"

Brussels

Lehrer: "I understand the fears Your Highness. However, It is our great belief that further cooperation between our countries will in fact limit terrorist groups in Europe. We will show how united our people can be. Isn't that what happened when the original European Union existed? Even during the darkest days of the War on Terror, we only had to deal with a few occasional terrorist attacks. Compare that to how many we've had while divided. And if we still fear the idea of terrorism...There's also another thing I've been working on...Project Sword, a unified anti-terrorist organization between our countries, to make sure that we never face another incident like the Black Knights again."

The King nodded, but was obviously not swayed. Neither were his two cousins. They saw a unified Europe as a way for the socialists to gain control over the entire continent.
