Captain's Log, Stardate 38006.44

The expedition authorized by the High King two weeks ago has finally begun to get underway as our ships left Royal space just under nine hours ago and should be approaching what has been deemed Norli III in just a few moments. The Norli system is our most direct northeastern neighbor, and it's a decently sized system consisting of four planets, one of which has been determined to be habitable. Two are gas giants and the other is a giant ice planet lacking an atmosphere, but they will most likely be put to use.

The basic plan was simple, as devised by Highlord Ran-Ton, in which the Zeus and our screening elements of three Goodwin destroyers will drop out of warp approximately one thousand meters from the target planet and perform security scans. Once they are complete, the colonial fleet will arrive under the command of Al-Kin and will begin Phase I of the Ignis Colony process.

" Captain, dropping out of warp in a few moments."

The young Ensign had poked her head around the corner just long enough to wait for the Captain to finish voice recording one of sure to be many logs in his log before relaying the courteous reminder. Jen nodded in acknowledgement of the message before drumming his fingers on the desk which he was sitting behind in his Ready Room, giving a few matters some careful thoughts before getting up and walking out onto the bridge, the doors to his ready room hissing open and then closed as he passed through. He took quick observations of the room, noticing that Alpha shift was now coming and he'd have all of his senior officers for the discovery.

He made his way to his command chair, which was in the center of the room on a raised platform, which several projecters for holographic screens and head's up displays wrapped around it, as well as one on each of the chair's armrests. He sat down on it, before issuing out a few orders. " Lieutenant Van, can you please inform the members of our screen that we should be arriving in the Norli system within the next two minutes. Ensign Andrews, please sound general call. While I don't expect anything, I rather be careful and not with a pirate group catching us unaware."

Within a few moments they disengaged their warp drive as they reached their coordinates, a brilliant blue flash as they popped into the Norli system, the Zeus coming out first with it's dominating one kilometer plus frame as the smaller Goodwin destroyers warped in on it's sides.

" Alright Lieutenant Van, have the screen begin their scans and assemble a basic defensive form, let's get this done quickly so we can begin. Long colonization process, rather not delay it any longer."

" Captain Kin, the scans are complete and Norli III is indeed a Class M planet and suitable for habitation and colonization. Interestingly enough, the scans turned up various ruins of cities, installations and other signs of a now dead civilization. Scans of the buildings are conclusive that they are of Caen origin."

Jen turned in his seat, a small grin on his face " Of course they are, my race colonized large parts of space, not to surprising to find them in the nearest system to our home planet. Anyways, send a flash traffic message to the colonial fleet, tell them to come on in and inform them of the ruins we've found. They perhaps will be able to use them to their advantage."

" Aye sire, contacting the colonial fleet now."

S.S. Mary Rose, Ark-class Colonial Vessel

The Mary Rose was possibly the most adventorous spatial venture that the Kingdom had made in centuries. The large ovalish vessel was a dominating one thousand and a half meters, and nearly half as wide. Deemed the Ark class, they were designed to do one thing: carry colonists and their supplies. The Mary Rose itself was currently carrying around seven thousand passengers, including the crew of the ship who would go on to become colonists themselves upon landing on the colony. The six cargo bays on the ship held the various minerals, food and materials needed to establish the colony. Right now, seven Ark's were hovering in space just outside Alba I, guarded by a detachment of Goodwin destroyers who would escort them to the Norli system and then return back to Alba. Inside the protective square formed by the destroyers was dozens of smaller transport vessels carrying an additional forty thousand civilians. The mass emigration was a plan of High King Logan's to ensure that the colony was built rapidly, quickly overcoming the initial stages.

The flash traffic message from the H.M.S Zeus would have only taken a few short seconds to reach Dr.Oel-On's office on the bridge of the Mary Rose. Oel was an aging Caen, well into his eighties but maintained peak physical condition. He was the Kingdom's leading expert on colonization and as such, had already been selected to led the expedition and become the first Governor of Norli III.

Within a few moments, the colonial fleet's impulse engines powered on, the blue blips registering into anyone's visual senses. Within moments, their warp drives were initiated and in a series of magnificent blue flashes, they warped out and towards the Norli system.
