Overview:

NEAR is the brain child and somewhat admittedly a counter-option to FAR II. Developed along the same lines and reasons as FAR in terms of using the Rp's of NEAR to build a accountable history for each of the participating nations through structured constructive Rp's designed to be interactive for all participating nations regardless of age and size. Alliances and rivalries of Rp's past easily brought to bear once more, technologies and developments carried over. NEAR promises to be one of the best RP groups for the FT NS Community through a continuously updated, managed, proven Rp styles, Rules, and mediated interactions while IC. When OOC: players are encouraged to talk, interact and strengthen ties to one another through passing on information and knowledge learned for years of RP experience some older nation have learned, and hopefully see new and promising Rpers grow to become that much better.

Backstory:

5,000 years have pasted since the galaxy came to peace after a long and terrible war; empires and kingdoms seeking to grow their nations waged war with one another and in the end only saw their holdings burned, taken, or simply and utterly destroyed. Thousands of systems now exist as testaments to the destruction wrought by the untold masses of warships, some of which still lay about in the graveyards of those systems. Once mighty and proud peoples where now scattered amongst the innumerable stars trying to find a new home, or simply survive; their cultures and history, a distant memory, forgotten to the void of ghosts and specters. Technologies once used to propel nations to godhood, now locked away out of fear of what might become to the already fragile galaxy, by the nations who wielded them, now used to keep the remainder of those nation hidden away from the troubles of the shattered galaxy. Those that remain now reach back into the stars of the heavens, as newcomers fresh to the emptiness, branch forth to make a name for themselves- both parties ignorant of the other.


Story Thus Far:

With the last remains of the old wars embers now cooled; feelers have branched out trying to feel a pulse of life, but little answers the call. For now the Hobbeebians and the small strange ship known as the ACCUERS have happened upon each other either out of fate or circumstance as both are drawn to a wound in Space and Time... a relic of the war which can never vanish, a constant reminder of the price of victory- the Dime Wound. A peaceful encounter... though it remains to be seen if the Hobbeebians will accept this galactic newborn. That is until a remenant of a long forgotten foe rears it head once more emerging from the Wound and has dealt the first blow. As the battle rages life else where in the galaxy is starting to awaken and reach for the stars. Now, because of a damaged Dimensional Drive, 3 vessels are making their way to the Hobbeebian Home System of Aeos and they go with out the valiant leader Strathos and his partner Biomechnanica Sy'Cross as they remained behind to ensure the enemies destruction at the cost of their own lives... a fact the Imperium will not be happy about. News of an abandoned Super-Station built by the Hobbeebians towards the end of the Great War suddenly becoming active has garnered attention from races across the galaxy as well as the Hobbeebians; who may be looking at reclaiming lost property. As fleets and warships of all nature now surround the station, only time will tell if level headedness and peace can see the situation come out in everyone's favor... or if the station will become just one more battlefield in a galaxy of battlefields and just when thigs start looking like they are calming down all hell break loss. A mysterious race of crazed, warring people erupt on to the scene and spark the powder keg that had been fermenting around the ancient structure.

Now the fighting has subsided in space only to move to the interior of the station where everyone else seems to be converging. With the impending arrival of the Hobbeebian Imperium at their former station the situation is as tense as ever.

Else where in the galaxy, history is beginning to repeat itself as young nations looking to make a name for themselves become increasingly militant towards one another, much like it did some 5000 years ago as the Voldoviana and Canukland patrols now hinge on the brink of conflict as weapons are trained on the other. Thankfully Level heads prevail and those who would have sparked a war through ignorance and haste now sit before one another talking instead of shooting.

Towards the galactic center the Arcturians seek to establish a permanent home in the galaxy as their planet now settles into the galactic disk for a short time, ensuring they are able to field a presence for a long time to come. At the same time the Wondering Argonian people have dispatched a crack team to an ancient research station looking to unlock secrets that have been hidden away since the end of the Great War. At the same time the Argonian Empire is breathing once again and is seeking to reclaim what the Great war had taken from them... their power. As secrets of a horrible fate for a people are revealed, a new beginning for a few is just starting. The Arcturians, however, are becoming feverish in their exspansion and an encounter between the Arcturians and the Argonians seems unavoidable.

Despite this the Argonian Empire has seen fit to begin dispatching ships and troopers to former colonies to try and bring them back into the fold. It remains to be seen if the old Empire still has the military power to wage such a long and draining war against its own kind... or if others will beat them to the punch.

General Rules:

    1. Please respect all mods and admin staff, their rule is final and should be listened to.
    2. Treat all other players with that same respect as well. You will be treated with respect in return.
    3. Only control you're nation and characters, IE: No god modding. If you need direct control for RP purposes please ensure you have permission from the controlling player first.
    4. Strive to make you're posts and writing better so that other players can easily understand it. Not looking for walls of text, but try and draw the picture of the scene in each post as best you can.
    5. Notify the staff when you will be absent for an extended period.If you are having RL problems and need to take a leave of absence please let us know so we can work with you.
    6. Apps must be approved by at least 1 Admin or two Mods to be admitted into the group.
    7. Remain an active participant in the community.
    8. All members must abide by the 5% Total Personnel and the 1 per 1000 Rule for max numbers for best quality at start up. Once you have begun Rp's you may begin altering your numbers. However, if you conscript your entire population in to your military be prepared to have low quality vessels and arms with a crappy economy- this is not a war group, sometimes the pen is mightier than the sword.
    9. All Nations who sign up and have a population lower than 1.5 Billion will be brought to this level as any fewer would be unable to sustain a spacefaring nationstate.


Map Rules:

    1.Each player starts with 1 Hexagonal Grid Marker to indicate their Home system. Once more places are colonized a new Hexagonal Grid will be awarded based upon actionable Rp evidence of the expansion. This is to reinforce the backstory and give all members even footing.
    ---Actionable Evidence: Military acquisition, Purchase, Economic Control (Mining Colony), Civilian colonization, Exploration colonization

    2. Territory claims must be authorized before becoming finalized. This is to ensure that no conflicting claims are made without consent with the two parties involved.
