The Oireachtas Department of Cartography of the Hibernian Empire of Cerod would wish to inform all nations of the world, the navy have discovered a new moderately populated continent. Having taken a portion of the land for themselves, we are, with consultation with the Oireachtas, have decided to offer the rest of the land up for other nations to claim. We post here a political map and a resource map.

"President Hugh, the nation of Cerod has claimed to discover new territories in the world, how should we act?" Asks Prime Minister Nathan Clarke. "Why wasn't this information brought to me first?" Hugh expected no answer, "I should be first to be informed about all international happenings..."
"That isn't the point, we need to act now, overpopula-" "Overpopulation has been a serious problem, we know that already!" The ASCMO commander steps in the room, "our units are ready for anything! Like Clarke said, we need to act now..."

György, The Imperial Court Spymaster, a tall, midage and black haired man rushes into the Imperial Court, a room filled with noble and common alike. And at the far end sat the Empress, Anastasia on her throne, its beauty of gold and jewels only rivaled by that of her majesty, young and beautiful her flawless skin thats without blemish that seems to be untouched by the sun, a beautifully hand sewn dress that touch the floor when she walked, and a crown made of gold and jewel that rest on her head. "My Empress, I wish to inform you that Edmund, Duke of Erz has founded a colony in a new undiscovered island..." György stops before continuing worried of what the Empress would of this new. The Empress seating upon her thorne leads back speaks loud and clear for all to hear "Has he know?' Her voice majestic and beautiful fills the room as she countinuing "So my spymaster, does Edmud claim this land in his own name and betrays his oath to me and the empire? the Empress stops and looks at the spymaster like as a mother does when looks upon her child when she knows that they have wrong. The spymaster, fearful of what she will do to him when he tells her what he believes will happen. " Well, my Empress, no he hasn't my Empress, bu..."
"Than why do you brother me with just matters that have need too me to hear!" The Empress replied before György could finish. "My Empress please wait, hear me out and listen to what I have to say." György trying to save his conversation with the Empress. "Very well, I will 'listen' to you, but I'm in no mood to hear idle talk that will lead nowhere." The Empress stops and lets the old spymaster.
"Yes my Empress, I won't, Well Duke Edmund has always had mixed loyalties in the past, mainly to himself. And has you may know your father, the late Emperor Frederick never trusted the man with much, and always kept a eye, if and when he got out of line, my Empress. The bottom line is that all you need to do is send a trusted military leader to the colony with a small force, to show Edmund that you are watch and he should get any ideas to betray her majesty." György pauses to hear the Empress respones. "Very well then, I will send Führer Vladimir and a force of 780,000 man to this island." Satisfied György slowly leaves the room.

High up above the teeming streets of Berrietxea, the great clock of Gran Doria Eusko Jaurlaritzaren struck 12:00. All across the city, the clock's bells could be heard, amplified by the public loudspeakers which reached, block by block all the way to the outskirts. Echoes reverberated through the hills and vales surrounding the city, and likewise the great tower, a monolith to the Basque Workers' Paradise, reverberated with the noise. Deep inside the inner depths of the tower, the noise imprudently broke the stride of the People's Commissar of Labor's speech, forcing an uncomfortable pause. As the ringing subsided, the People's Commissar again spoke.

"... And so, Comrades, we must take advantage of this opportunity to advance our nation and the cause of International Socialism. We have the means to achieve this goal. We need only reach out and take it."

The People's Commissar, Antton Gorriategi, had just completed a lengthy and impassioned argument for the expansion of the nation into unsettled overseas territories. Since the first news of the Cerodian's discovery reached the international press, Gorriategi ha become obsessed with the yet-unclaimed lands the press and his own intelligence reports described. The idea of colonization had become a pet project of his, and now, at the decisive moment following his speech, he stepped back to his seat, and all eyes fell on Premier Arrigorriagakoa, waiting to gauge his reaction.

Of the sixteen men seated at the Council's wide circular table, the Premier's voice carried the greatest weight. Although technically equals, Udane Arrigorriagakoa held the greatest authority as the General-Secretary of the Basque Socialist Revolutionary Party, and all others owed their political careers to him. Amid their discerning eyes, Arrigorriagakoa leaned slowly forward from the shadows and spoke.

"We have heard a worthy proposal from Comrade Gorriategi. Before we vote on this matter, will any other of our esteemed Comrades wish to voice their opinions?"

Almost immediately, People's Consul Zubiri stood and, with a nod of acknowledgement from the Premier, spoke.

"I second this proposal. It is my firm belief that we must not let such an opportunity pass. Not only will this action benefit our nation's economy, as Comrade Gorriategi argued, but this will also greatly improve our diplomatic stature in the world. Already, we have achieved great strides through our Armed Forces and our Nuclear power, but it is only through becoming a true colonial power that the Capitalist and Imperialist powers of the world will come to respect us as equals."

In a cascade, the other People's Commissars rose to show their support. Martzel Haritzetxe, People's Commissar of Defense, was the next to speak.

"I will also voice my support for this proposal. Our military is well equipped to provide security for any settlement, and such and opportunity to show their dedication to the Nation would be relished by our brave soldiers."

The Premier nodded in agreement. Sensing the end of debate, the other eager Commissars returned to their seat.

"Very well. Let all who oppose this measure declare themselves now."

No one spoke.

Goike Banks, Basque Socialist States

One month later

A small armada of ships assembled off the north-western coast of the Basque Socialist States. Most of the vessels were civilian ships, requisitioned from the nation's merchant marine. Among them was the stately cruise ship, Berria Euskal, as well as several other large passenger and cargo ships, as well as the large oilier, Mendiondo, and a collection of smaller tankers, fishing vessels, tugs, and other small but seaworthy craft. Around them, a large portion of the Basque People's Army Navy plied the waters. This force included the Basque Navy's only aviation cruiser, the EHI Alesander Haritzaga as well as a half-dozen escorts, and the Navy's only fleet oilier and fleet supply vessels. Altogether, the mixed fleet consisted of 35 vessels.

The fleet's mission was simple. They were to sail south-west from the Basque Socialist States, following the most direct route to their target, as small strip of land on the southern face of the unclaimed island. The area they were directed towards had been scouted in advance by the Basque Socialist States' satellite system, and an ideal location had been chosen. The area of People's Commissar Gorriategi's ambition was well to the south of other settlements, guarding the approaches to a strategic bay on the island's southern coast. From limited intelligence reports, the areas appeared to be a rich fishing ground, with good soil along the coast and a heavily forrested interior which, according to Cerodian reports was rich in iron and other minerals.

The fleet would deposit most of it's settlers on the southern tip of the Basque claim. These men, drawn from the People's Commissariat of Labor's work-camps, would immediately begin to build settlements near the mouth of the land's great southern bay. They would be joined by a small number of civilian conscripts and volunteers, specifically chosen for their expertise in fishing, agriculture, and mining. In total, the force of laborers in the southernmost area of settlement would be over 5,200, and many more settlers were expected through the offer of generous stipends to private citizens who elected to migrate to the new land.

After depositing the main group of laborers, elements of the fleet were to sail north, scouting the entire coast of the bay. They would establish a second settlement of 400 civilian volunteers on the north-eastern coast of the bay, and military personnel would conduct a survey of the border region, legally establishing Basque jurisdiction over the area.

Military vessels would patrol the region until they reached the limits of their endurance. Meanwhile, merchant vessels would return to the Basque Socialist States, shuttling vessels, and further waves of settlers to the new land. The fishing fleet, 12 ships in total, would remain in their new waters to support the colonization effort. The entire effort would be defended by a full battalion of the Basque People's Army (over 800 men).

NATIONAL NEWS

"The Colonists arrive!" headlines for the national news, that's right after many a set back the final drop off of colonists has made it to the new land. The colonists have named the colony "Ketilbiorn" after the Kaznanian god of war. No sign of real government interest so far, the major population of the colony are religious fanatics who seek to form a semi-autonomous religious colony. Many of these colonists have hired mercenaries to defend their religious claims in the new land, no violence has occurred yet between the natives and the Kaznanians.

Ruben Alfred, one of the first colonists to the new land, he was assigned to be the head of the "militia," a group of rag tag mercenaries. "Move those shipments across the dock!" Yelled a very deep voice, the voice of Ruben, the docks were full that day with supplies and other equipment personally shipped in by the new Governor of Ketillbiorn. The new Governor was a strong, tale, and pale man his name was Justus Armin, his intentions to do something with the natives were very clear he wanted to deport them, instead of keeping the natives on the claim of Kaznan. This attempt at deportation angered the natives, hence the sudden hiring of mercenaries, and that is where Ruben Alfred comes in as the head of the militia, to defend the people of the colony and the Governor.
