(Private Thread) Before the Summit

Postby Byzantine Konstantinopolis » Thu Nov 29, 2012 5:31 pm

It had been just a couple days scene Alexious had sent his letter calling for a meeting before conflict. From the windows of the imperial Palace, he could see that a ship from the Borderlands of Bane, his most needed and supportive ally was coming close. He watched it, his heart both fluttering and sinking, between mixed feeling of justice and megalomania, a fear, as well as a melancholy feeling relative to the destruction that would ensue stormed down upon him, mixing his emotions into and odd, mixed up soup. As he felt himself get nervous he gripped the cross that hung around his neck in his hand, and took a deep breath. He felt guilt, guilt that he was praying to god for guidance, yet by his doing, indirectly as it may be, so many would lose there lives and homes. He stayed for a while before regaining composure, the lives of his people, the doubt of fighting the church in the name of gods, his doubt in himself as an inexperienced and young emperor, far of victory and execution; all of these things were so easy to justify when he was angry or ranting, but when he was silent and alone, they were his crosses to bear. He centered himself again, afterall, every good christian bears large crosses, and the loathing of others. However, right now, he would not have the deal with his enemies. He pulled his Imperial Robes over himself and wore them like a cloak, exiting his room, and fallowed by his gaurds, he left to await the Banish in grand hall.

The third rate battleship, M.R.A.S Sanctus Petrus, entered the port of the ancient city. Onboard, watching the landscape pass, were Count Carolus von Esterhazen and Monsignor Bonifacius Stillenteller. von Esterhazen, a chilly, 45 year old man with greying blond hair and a handlebar moustache, was wearing a white military tunic with a silver collar and epaulettes, overtop which he wore a cloak embroidered with the arms of the Esterhazen family, and the green maltese cross of the Sacred Order of the Chalice. Monsignor, however, was a thin, non muscular yet ambitious young priest. He wore a cassock and shoulder cape, soon he turned and said "count von esterhazy, military intervention seems necessary, though the foe has these terrifying walls. looking at the ancient walls, Count von Esterhazy chuckled a manly chuckle. "where is the welcome wagon" he said as they entered the port of constantinople. "here it is, the sacred gem of constantine" said the Count in awe

A group of soldiers, this time Greko-Roman as supposed to 'Varangian' that had been seen the the emperor stayed near the port awaiting the catholic visitors, the were led by a strong, sturdy looking Greek man in his 40s. He Stayed stationed with his troops, a stern look on his face, thou nothing to uninviting, it was clear that even in this time of reformations and civil dispute, the population was not to happy about welcoming in people who tended to intervene to the separatists aid, especially, especially not Catholics. They awaited the Holy man's descent from the ship, in order to greet him and lead him to the Palace, escorted.

Count Carolus von Esterhazen and Monsignor Stillenteller walked briskly off of the ship. On either side were lines of sturdy germanic infantry, holding boarding pikes. The Count stepped out along with the priest

Much like the germanic troops, the Capitian of the outfit was armed with an officers sword, which was modeled after a Russian Sabre. He walked stepped forward "Welcome to Konstantinopolis, you must be the representatives from Eumachus."

Next Count von Esterhazen stepped forward and saluted "Count Carolus von Esterhazen, Brigadier General commanding the1st Ghibelline Regiment, 2nd Ghibelline Regiment, Archbishop's own Cavalry, Northern Infantry Company of the Safringe, Southern Infantry of the Safringe, and the Theodoricean Regiment."

The Officer saluted the general back, introducing himself "Captian Adonis Manos of the 14th Regiment of foot. I'll be escorting you to the Imperial Residence and government house to meet with his Highness Emperor Alexios Kondrashka Nikolaidis I. Whenever you are ready, we well lead the way." The officer spook in a stern voice, but not an aggressive one.

The small number solders were ordered into 5 jeeps, four escorting the envoys, and 1 leading the way. ((you may skip to meeting the emperor in the next post if you want, he'd be waiting in the imperial palace, weather he would be awaiting you standing in the hallway, sitting on his thone, or anywhere else is up to you, just know that he'll have Kirill and his Varangian closeby.))

Eastern Constantinople
0700 Hours

A Convoy of unmarked Black SUVs passed quietly over the unofficial border between the True Holy Empire of Byzantine Constantinople & the one ruled by the Heretical Sodomite Emperor. Over the last few days, thousands of Church loyalists crossed the Western Border into the Empire daily, while many more thousands crossed in the opposite direction. Even though the ''border'' had been militarized by both sides, it was relatively easy for the 3 vehicle convoy to cross over and drive into Constantinople.

The convoy only encountered problems when they tried to enter the city proper. The walls were extremely well built, even if it was fruitless and a waste of materials. They were stopped at a checkpoint where they were required to show I.D and have their vehicles checked for weapons and IEDs. The conflict in the middle east had done well to educated the governments of the world about the dangers of an insurgency, however it had done little in the way of actual training and the convoy slipped silently into the city, with it's cargo and passengers.

The Regent Ridiger had authorized a diplomatic mission to be sent to the Western Half of the Empire, in a effort to calm tensions and promote friendship and compassion between Christians, with the approval of Napoleon of course. He had dispatched a Valyrian Diplomat named Louis, and several of his own supporters who had left the Emperor's government, along with a few of Kirill's people to represent his country. He had given them the proper Identification, and paperwork to cross the newly militarized border, and enter Constantinople hopefully unmolested.

Before this whole mess he had been a lifelong politician and he knew how the game was played. If he or any of his close aides from within his government had dared show their face in Constantinople, it would have been a sign of respect or equality, something that he couldn't afford to show at this time. By sending subordinates, he delegated the responsibility of the talks to his inferiors as well as providing a scapegoat if the talks did not go well.

Alexios smiled, even if it was a small start, the New Roman Empire was not only a trusted brother, and fellow Nostalgic Roman culture, but it was a VERY powerful ally, having there support now would come in very handy later if he needed more help.

"You may rise Sir William of the New Roman Empire." he gave him a pleasant and compassionate look, offering him his hand "We extend our most gracious thanks to your Emperor for his support, it goes without saying that in times of rebellion, we must stick together and work as a team to defend the illustrious legacy of Rome."

"Thank you, I can tell the Emperor was looking forward to this meeting. But you are right, we must ensure the legacy of Rome. I was also told to tell you when the regular military pulls out. Most of the Chapter will be here. The current Templars here and I.are here to weed out the rebels and to protect your family as we do it." Said William as he rose up.

"And we are forever grateful for your protection, I imagine that this war has put my entire family in grave danger. Your Templars may stay in the Barracks area of the Imperial Palace Grounds, alongside my Varangian and Cataphract Gaurd. Both sides of the Roman empire fell do to Treachery, Civil conflict, and Invasion, but none of these things would have been able to topel it if it were not for the ambition of greedy men, who rallied so many people to fight their brethren. We must send a message that the successors of Roman Lineage well not fall, or bend to internal struggle, Nor well we fall to this Caligula of Valeryia."

A black battleship can be seen as it makes it makes a stop at the port of the Ancient City. A group of armed Naval troops lowered the anchor and opened the steps as a handful of Lucifer Guards stepped down, positioned themselves in line and hailing the Queen who is dressed in a black dress as if she is going to a funeral. Following her is Major Hans Jorgensen of the Lucifer Guard taking Captain Nergal's place for the time being. Queen Lilith, just like Alexious, a young monarch aged 29; a slender, tall woman with fiery red hair looking around with her sharp, green eyes as she let out a sigh. As she is being followed by Major Hans into the dock, waiting to be formally greeted and escorted into the meeting room, she turned to her body guard, "Hans, I have faith in these people. I think your presence will cause a rather hostile mood" the Queen said in her slow, melodic tone she used when being professional. "Your majesty, I have you know you are in foreign land and even if Alexious have no quarrels with you, if he even surprises you from behind, Captain Nergal and I will have to do a lot of convincing to prevent the people Vultasia from causing a global holocaust". The Queen let out a chuckle, enjoying the wind in this Mediterranean nation compared to her cold, Northern climate, she looks around the city in awe as she meet up with the young Emperor and Sir William of the New Roman Empire an hour later and gave a bow to both, a common Vultasian greeting to strangers. "Hail, I am Queen Lilith Von Blutdurst, Queen of the Kingdom of Vultasia" she said with a warm smile, the body guard behind her gave a bow as well, "Hail, Alexious and William, I am Major Hans Jorgensen, Left Hand to the honourable Captain Nergal Bismarck of the Lucifer Guards. An honour to meet the both of you and I hail your Templars as a fellow soldier"

Walking towards the meeting Warlord Patty Marlo took one last looking at her clothing. She had not expected to be at such an formal function, and she left her dress uniform at home. She had to borrow bits and pieces of a uniform from other officers, and while it looked right, it didn't quite fit right. Sarra, being the rather large woman she is was not so fortunate, and was forced to wear her field uniform, hardly proper for the meeting she was about to attend.

She looked around for an attendant after she arrived at the designated area. She needs to see the Emperor before the meeting, she had some rather urgent business with him, and needed to convey this right away.

The Emperor turned his attention from the map too the queen of Vultasia after giving him his answer, nodding to the night in reassurance.

"It is a pleasure to finally have your acquaintance, Queen Lilith." the emperor offered her his hand with a kind and soft expression. Kirill, who was next to Alexeous bowed to Lilith, then turned and saluted Hans. Alexeous nodded warmly towards Hans aswell. He gestured to Kirill "This is Kirill, the captain of my personal Varangian Guard, and my personal bodygaurd". Kirll nodded, he was a tallish young man with short, but not sheared brown hair and brown eyes, a normal looking boy, with a patch of hair on his chin. He seemed professional enough, but like the Emperor his youth was glairingly obvious, as well as the chemistry between the too that Kirill fought to ignore every time he had to act a professional gaurd. He took back a little bit of the blush that came over his face. The Emperor contrasted Kirill as short, about 5'6", slender and effeminate with expressive blue eyes and long blonde hair, his coloration and pale skin made his Russian decent obvious, as Kirill who was a full blooded Russian looked more Greek then he did.

The Queen raises from her bow and accepts his hand as offering as her bodyguard, a tall man with clear white hair and a glaring light blue eye raises from his bow as well, fixing his uniform, gesturing his recognition of Krill as a worthy warrior. The Queen brushes her long red hair behind her ears as she spoke in her usual slow, melodic voice that caused suspicions many times during World Assembly Meetings for its emotionless, perish-like harmonica "Thank you, Alexious, it is a pleasure to actually see you and your beloved Krill in person. And even more delight to know that both sides have agreed to a ceasefire and can finally settle things in a peaceful manner. We hope that, despite our non-intervention, the amount of volunteers, even those pirates, are of use in defending your Empire."

The Queen, her skin so pale she almost looked ghastly if it wasn't for her primarily Black and Red clothing, her smile revealing her fangs which, combined with her pale skin and cold body temperature when taking the Emperor's hand, gave her a mysterious presence. With a swift raise of her left hand, the Navy and Lucifer Guards returned to the ship, no longer keeping an eye or ear on every individual's movements and speech. Her melodic, perish song of a voice rose again when she asked "Is there anything I should know before the meeting?"

Alexeous shivered mildly as his hand met with hers, she was frighteningly cold, if he didn't know any better he'd ask in shock what her condition was. He blushed and gave what was almost a giggle once she so openly refereed to Kirill as his beloved, Kirill kept a awkwardly straight face and looked away to take a breath and terminate whatever blush had came over his face, before looking back too Hans and nodding, as if to return the gesture. "Anything you should know before the meeting? Well...Perhaps that most important thing for you to know is that it well most likely be entirely fruitless. Self proclaimed 'President' Ridriger and the Patriarch have no intention to compromise with me." He almost smiled a bit, remembering when he was crowned, how the people that warned his father that he was not a worthy air bowed to kiss his feet, remembering the Church bless his rule and declare him 'appointed by god', each and every one of them was a spineless ass-kisser who looked no further then there own benefits.
