Jedorian Troops Arrive in New Othman

Image

When asked what he thought of the deployment, Cpl. Adrian Ionescu simply said "Them Othmani girls better have nice asses."

Cemal Borek Air Base - In light of recent terrorist attacks and faced with a growing insurrection by militant Islamist and Fascist forces, the Jedorian Government confirmed today that in an attempt to bolster it's support with it's ally New Othman, Jedorian military forces had begun arriving in the Republic earlier today. As part of a growing effort to stabilize the country and fight back against the threat of terrorism, the Confederation confirmed that it would continue to support the current Othmani government, now through military support if necessary. The Jedorian government confirmed it would provide logistical and material support to the Othmani Government and it's security forces to make up for lost capabilities as a result of the Treaty of Beaulieua.

Forces of the 28th Mechanized Infantry Division began arriving en masse in the country early this morning, where after disembarking from their transport aircraft began to make their way to Sipahi Army Base, where the 28th would be garrisoned as part of the overall operation. In addition, aircraft belonging to the 14th Fighter Group also arrived at Cemal Borek Air Base, aimed at complementing the ground forces with an aerial component the Othmani Air Force is currently unable to provide. Major General Emanuel Ghiță, commanding officer of the 28th Mechanized, told reporters who were on scene that the Jedorian forces would begin a series of community out reach programs intended to boost support for the mission among the local populace, as well as to remind everyday Othmani citizens that their allies in Jedoria could be counted on for support.

"We live in a day and age where our enemies use fear and terror to attack us and our families. Our homes, markets, and places of worship are now the targets. It is paramount that in these trying times, friends stick with friends, and we all work together to rid the world of this evil."

Feminists Violate International Maritime Law

In flagrant disregard for the rights of vessels in international waters, the Feminist Empire of Deadora has announced a blockade of the Strait of Laz. In Deadoran state media, the following was proclaimed: "Access to and from the Gulf of Deadora will hereby be closed to military vessels of non-SAEC navies...In addition, merchant shipping of non-SAEC nations, excluding our trusted trade partners, will be subject to increased scrutiny and searches when entering or exiting the Gulf of Deadora."

The Thrall regime has either chosen to believe without evidence the absurd Adiran claims that the Imperium is a sponsor of terrorism, or has been simply waiting for a pretext to attack and isolate Krutongo all along. We have waged war in the past knowing that the conquest of Krutongo was the first phase of a plan aimed at establishing Deadoran and feminist dominance of Central Acheron. At the conclusion of that conflict, the Imperium made a commitment to peace that it has not broken. Missionaries continue to build schools, hospitals, and churches throughout Krutongo, while educating citizens of Valik, New Othman, and Lazodiria of the Emperor's truth. It was the feminists who have chosen to attack these efforts.

Furthermore, Deadora is preventing the Imperium from combating Islamic terrorism directed against the faithful. The Emperor has charged the Imperium with protecting the faithful worldwide. This attack in New Othman therefore cannot go unchallenged; it is His will that the perpetrators must be brought to face justice.

In addition, billions of dollars worth of trade pass through the Strait of Laz every year, and the Deadoran action threatens the international trade of Valik and Lazodiria. Not only could this do serious damage to their economies, a blockade would threaten their overseas trading partners as well. The Curia hopes that the international community will condemn this action.

If Imperial vessels are turned back from the Strait of Laz, it will be treated as a blockade of Krutongo and thus an act of war. The faithful will not be left to the depredations of expansionist feminist regimes who mutilate and torture prisoners of war. Krutongo is well-prepared to receive any attack launched from Kurungarra or amphibious assaults by Deadora.

The Imperium is a peaceful nation with no intention of shedding blood unnecessarily. Furthermore, Deadora is a fellow member of FODE. Division within the organization will only be to the detriment of economic growth and progress. We urge Empress Thrall to reconsider her position in this matter, for the Imperium will not be intimidated or denied rights granted to all civilized nations by the full weight of international law.

Foreign Minister Urges Cool Heads as Tensions Rise

STRANA MECHTY - As terrorist attacks across the region happen at an alarming rate, potential conflict brews in Arcologia, and the Feminist Empire announcing the closure of the Strait of Laz to non-SAEC naval vessels, Foreign Minister Andrei Paler spoke to reporters briefly to convey that the Jedorian Government continued to hope for a peaceful solution to the growing tension across the region.

"The Feminist Empire's decision to effectively close the Strait of Laz is one with serious implications, however, we must also consider the situation we find ourselves in today. The threat of terrorism is one that affects all, and while some may certainly criticize the actions of the Deadoran Government, not without some validity, it cannot be denied that Deadorans bring up an undeniable point: something must be done to combat this growing threat of terrorist attacks that are ravaging the region."

Pointing to the recent deployment of Jedorian troops to New Othman in an effort to combat the instability in the young republic, Paler urged heads of states across the region to convey their intentions to put an end to the terrorist threat through mutual cooperation, citing now often said words in Jedoria that "Only through mutually beneficial assistance will we eradicate this evil that haunts our homes and aims to hurt our children." Although the Duke was not available for comment, Paler indicated that he was "greatly concerned about recent events in, both in Ceti and New Othman," and would be communicating with Jedoria's allies shortly to discuss a joint response to these events.

In other news, a local man expressed sorrow after selling all of his minerals, saying he took them for granite.

Markets took a turn south as result of news coming from Ceti and South Acheron. The drop in value reflects market fears of a greater conflict in the making between the Imperium of Arbites and the Republic of Adiron. Bankers on Gallows Street are worried that Noviteran held portfolios of Adiran securities will devalue. Not to mention concerns over the disruption of trade war could bring as the conflict heats up. Deadora has further put a dent in Noviteran confidence at the announcement of a blockade of the Strait of Laz and Arbiter response. The disruption of trade in South Acheron could hurt future revenues as well. Domestic firms that export to the region are apprehensive about the Deadoran declaration to subject shipping to searches and likely delivery delays.

Gallows Street pressure for intervention has reached Capitol Hill. The Trask Administration is currently in talks with the Directorate to approve a resolution allowing UF involvement in a Shrailleeni proposed CPO peacekeeping mission. It would seem that the Trask Administration is succeeding in getting the Directorate to budge after having made known his Administration's intentions to intervene in such a operation to other CPO member nations. Further, Prime Executor Trask has urges Arbites and Adiron towards a mediated peaceful resolution to the conflict.

"This administration recognizes the strategic importance of the Palisades and why it is coveted by both powers as a matter of national defense. CPO control of the area, I believe, could alleviate concerns of both parties and be a first step towards a peaceful settlement. I believe such a thing can be achieved and should be sought after with urgency at this moment to prevent an extremely undesirable conflict in Ceti."

In response to the Deadoran blockade, James Trask has issued a public protest against the action. "We understand the needs of the Deadorans to see to their national security but I feel a blockade would prove too dramatic and ineffective in this instance. The UF has no need for military vessels in the Strait of Laz, this we do not protest. It is the worry that our shipping will be unnecessarily impeded. I must ask that the government of Deadora refrain from search or seizure of Noviteran shipping or if they must, make assurances that they will do so reasonably with no unnecessary hindrance or delay.

Imperium's lies can no longer be tolerated
by "Erik Eriksunn"

Recently, this region looked on in horror as Isidium was rocked by a heinous attack against innocent civilians. More recently still, we have heard about more of what we've come to expect; aggressive, uncalled-for posturing from the Imperium of Arbites Materia. From that, we have watched in agitation and fear as a war of words has emerged, in direct compliment to a war of bullets that may already be developing.

At present, a proposal lays before the Cornellian Peace Organization to intervene in Arcologia in the interests of preventing war, precipitated by the aggressive actions of the Imperium. Perhaps more concerning is that links have been drawn between the Imperium and the Isidium attack (although the evidence has not yet been made public). Naturally, of course, the Arbiters have strenuously denied these links, but there is something rotten in Ceti. Two different accounts are being put forward, and the two are mutually exclusive.

The Arbiters call to block action that might blunt their aggressiveness, while denying and excusing until they are blue in the face. But it falls to our government, and other governments of the region, to see through the Arbiter lies. This is a regime that cannot be trusted, and we must take appropriate actions to ensure that this homicidal, despotic regime cannot harm more innocent people.

But why should we take the Adirans' word for it? There are two things at work here. First is the history of the two nations. Adiron, since it emerged from the ruins of Ceti, has been a leader in the region in promoting liberty, democracy, and humanitarian causes. Arbites, by contrast, has been seen, time and again, to say one thing while meaning another, proclaiming their charity while they brainwash vulnerable peoples to believe the rather laughable prospect of an immortal wizard emperor that favors the Imperium over all other nations, and declaring their commitment to peace even as they foment war.

The actions of the two nations could not be more clear, either. Where the Imperialists insist that other nations steer clear of their unprovoked military intervention in Arcologia, Adiron offers transparency to the international community, while acting completely defensively. It is clear which nation should be trusted, and so the only appropriate course of action for the Federation should be clear: we must support a ceasefire in Arcologia and, failing that, stand with Adiron against the Arbiter menace.

Jedorian Government Issues Official Condemnation of Arbiter Involvement in Terorrist Attacks; Jedorian Forces in New Othman put on Alert

STRANA MECHTY - After accusing the Imperium of being behind the terrorist attacks that have left hundreds dead across Adiron, as well as moving military forces into the disputed Palisades region, the Adiran Government officially made the evidence public for representatives of other nations to view, and to draw conclusions based on said evidence. Although certain details have been kept private for security reasons, the Jedorian Government confirmed it had reviewed the evidence presented and was satisfied enough to officially act on it.

During a brief discussion before the High Council, Duke Victor Răceanu outlined what had been presented and what conclusions had been drawn. "It is clear now that the Impierum, utilizing a wide array of impressive albiet malevolent tactics, successfully infiltrated Adiran territory with the clear objective of causing mayhem and terror, coinciding with Arbiter-backed offenses in the Palisades, with the overall objective being to undermine Adiran national security."

"The previous administration made, in my opinion, the correct move of severing relations with the Imperium and placing an embargo on all Imperial products, following the Arbiter-Urdnot invasion of Adiron, and the attack on the ISA. When the threat of terrorism first began to emerge, I, like many others, hoped these attacks were carried out by lone wolves and isolated and infuriated segments of society. Unfortunately, the reality is far worse. The region now has a state sponsor of terrorism, one that will stop at nothing to achieve it's imperialist goals to spread it's faith, regardless of whom they trample on. Already violence echoes across the region, Catholic rebels in Ashab attempting to usurp the lawful government, Islamist and Fascist militants in New Othman, and now this. The Jedorian Confederation has no choice but to officially condemn the Imperium of Arbites Materia as a rouge state, and I call upon other national leaders to do so. I urge the Government of the Allied States of New Edom to reconsider it's relationship with the Imperium, as it's clear now the Arbiters are no better than the Damocleans who senlessley attacked Fineberg several years ago. In addition, I ask the member states of FODE to no longer tolerate the leadership of Secretary-General Reyes, who is now clearly acting not in the economic interests of it's members, but rather for the Imperium's own strategic goals. I at first thought the Deadoran actions regarding the Strait of Laz were rash and unnecessary, now I fear they are validated."

The Duke further commented that Jedorian forces in New Othman would have no choice but to be placed on high alert, given the already strenuous situation in the Republic. Further talks with the Othmani government could be expected, said the Duke, and expressed a desire to meet with the Othmani Premier to coordinate further anti-terrorist operations in New Othman, with the intent of destroying the Vengeance of Allah and the Black Scimitar.

Grimmeburger, Moet condemn Arbites
New evidence prompts action

by Allaea Wendelunn

Roan, DR --- Following the Adiran government's disclosure of evidence regarding the current Cetan crisis to several governments across the region, a resolution passed by the Moet by a nearly-unanimous decision and signed by Generalissimo Stevan Grimmeburger was announced, placing federal condemnation against the government of the Imperium of Arbites for its role in facilitating terror and violence around the region.

The resolution, read aloud on the floor of the Senate by Chancellor Anessa Maarks after it was passed, contained passages that voiced support for Adiron, calling the nation a beacon of liberty and democracy in the region, as well as expected passages that condemned the Imperium in harsh terms.

"A nation which sees fit to threaten and harm innocents in the pursuit of an ideology or faith has no place in the civilized world," Maarks read, "and as such, we must condemn the Imperium of Arbites Materia as a rogue nation that cannot be trusted to uphold the basic conventions and norms that define a modern, decent world."

The evidence provided by the Adiran government was outlined and explained, although parts were, notably, withheld due to ongoing security concerns. Still, what was presented to the Moet and the general public was damning in its own right.

The resolution also announced that several embargoes would be levied against Arbites, and what little diplomatic staff remained in the country has been recalled. Plans for reintroducing an Allamunnic embassy to the Imperium have been scrapped, and several units in the Federal Army and Navy alike have been placed on alert.

"In times like these, all that it takes for evil to prevail is for the decent to do nothing," Maarks stated. "As such, we as a nation must prepare to do our part in standing up to a regime that shows such a callous disregard for human life and suffering."

"With fault clearly established," Generalissimo Grimmeburger said in a released statement, "our commitment to finding a peaceful solution to this crisis has not changed. However, our resolve to stand with Adiron, should the peace process prove impossible, has never been stronger than it is now with the presentation of this evidence. I would like to thank the Adiran government for their forthrightness and transparency in this crisis. May whatever higher power there is guide us."

The Federation also joins Jedoria in its condemnation of Arbites, and it is expected that at least a few more nations will join the calls against Arbites. Already, the Empire of Deadora has undertaken actions in the Strait of Laz against the Imperium, and we will continue to monitor that situation as well.

Mother Empress Talks Peace, Prepares War

Imperial City - With tensions running at an all-time high in the region over the confrontation between Cetian powers Adiron and Arbites, the Mother Empress appeared as a voice of peace and reason in calling for the Cornellian Peace Organization to calm tensions and resolve the Arcologian Crisis diplomatically. However, it appears that the Mother Empress does not place all of her kalko eggs in the same proverbial basket. Despite the announcement that three Battlegroups were mobilized in readiness for a "peacekeeping mission," the Empire is currently witnessing the largest full-scale military mobilization that has occurred since the New Edomite Civil War of 1289.

Unreported by state media, the last few days have seen a flood of military personnel and equipment streaming into various military bases and staging areas across the islands. Women and men across the nation are being called up for active duty, and local authorities have asked the Imperial Guard to maintain order to ensure the safe transport of arms, ammunition, and other supplies through the nation's transportation system. While it is difficult to determine the exact scale of the mobilization, it seems apparent the military units are being brought together across the islands. Military authorities were unavailable for comment.

While the Army's mobilization has been by far the most visible, keen observers have noted what appears to be the S.I.S. Chella Resyanna in the waters off the northern shore of Home Island. The Chella Resyanna, which has been deployed for the past few months to the waters of Gloria Regis as part of the Empire's agreement to provide military protection to the new nation, has worrying implications in its return. A James Lawrence-class nuclear-powered "supercarrier," the Mother Empress's namesake is surely the cornerstone of any Imperial Military plan involving sizable force projection. Furthermore, two of the Empire's four new Meshdra'il-class aircraft carriers have gone missing from Shrailleeni waters. Sources report that one, the S.I.S. Sevreen, has replaced the S.I.S. Chella Resyanna in patrolling the waters of Gloria Regis. The location of the still unaccounted for S.I.S. Home Island remains unknown, but anonymous sources within the Imperial Navy speculate that it may be en route to Kurungarra in response to increased Deadoran-Arbiter hostilities.

The Fifth Queendom is itself experiencing complete mobilization, with Kurungarran Black Wing forces reportedly massing near the border with neighboring Krutongo. Sources within Radakat have indicated that the Regent of Kurungarra, Obataiye Massen, has announced full military mobilization in conjunction with Imperial authorities. The Kurungarran Black Wing is the largest and best-equipped branch of the Shrailleeni defense force, created in the wake of the Republican protests last year, and has been compared to a branch of the Imperial Military. In addition, Kurungarra remains home to ten Imperial Army Motorized Battlegroups and a sizable portion of Imperial Air Command.

When asked for a comment, Regent Obataiye told an Eagle's Cry reporter: "Of course we are mobilizing! If it comes to war, Kurungo is caught right in the middle. Do you think the heretic-lords in the East see any difference between us and Deadora? So long as I am Regent of Kurungarra, I will do my duty by the Mother Goddess to protect my people. The Goddess and Her Enlightened Majesty are on our side."

All of these preparations have cast a shadow over the Empire's major cities, and there is a strong feeling in the street that Shrailleen is undertaking to go to war. Black Wing and Air Command Sparrowhawks have taken to nearly constant flights off the Empire's shores, and mobilization has effected every family. The Mother Empress declares that she must protect us, but it is difficult to see how making such aggressive motions are helping the cause of peace in any way. And meanwhile the National Assembly, our supposed best hope for a democratic transition, remains utterly silent on the matter, delegating full authority to our Enlightened monarch.

The Shrailleeni people want real peace, not to be drawn into a war between Cetians. But from the ground, it appears our voices are still not heard.

Foreign Demand Rises as Food Shortages Hit

Following the decimation of the dry season harvest brought on by the advent of early monsoons, the prices of local agricultural products have risen sharply in the Empire's urban areas. While food shortages have not reached critical levels, the increase in demand has led to an unprecedented demand for foreign food imports across the archipelago.

The early rains brought on by the changing monsoon patterns had a disastrous effect on the dry season crops, which had to be harvested early to avoid total agricultural failure. Crops effected were mostly native grains and legumes, seasonal plants that are sensitive to quantities of moisture. Rice, cash crops, and animal-based agriculture remained largely unaffected. However, the delay in the planting of rainy season crops has brought up worries that the monsoons may end as quickly as they began. The failure of two seasons' worth of production would have a far more disastrous impact on local agricultural production.

With local crops experiencing a rise in prices, the demand for foreign agricultural imports has increased considerably. Foreign merchants have already taken notice in greater Shrailleeni consumption. Fortunately, the Empire's liberal trade policies have succeeded in creating enough competition to keep foreign import prices steady.

The Empire regularly imports agricultural goods from the Late Roman Empire, New Edom, Deadora, Spartianus, and Ghant. A rise in demand from these nations has been coupled with increased imports from the Cookish States, the Commoner Empire, and Hostilia as well. Adiron, formerly a large supplier of food products, has seen imports drastically cut in response to the FODE embargo. The long-term effects of greater purchases from foreign sources can only be speculated, but foreign brands are certain to increase familiarity in Shrailleen in the short term.

Anti-abortion law on its way out?

Postby Free Garza » Wed Dec 16, 2015 11:37 am

El Matador,
Lisa Benitez

Women's reproductive rights received a genuine boost when the Senate approved a bill likely passed by the People's Assembly, repealing the anti-abortion law enacted earlier this year. The National Equality and Choice Act terminated the prohibition of abortion after 12 weeks, but left in place the ban on partial-birth abortion, reportedly to avoid a royal veto. His Catholic Majesty the King has signaled that, in line with his general principles of being a "constitutional monarch," he would not veto most legislation, only withholding his assent to laws that were, "extremely inhumane or a serious peril to national security."

Unless the King truly regards the proposed law to fit either category (admittedly a risk with any pro-abortion bills), the odds remain that he will sign the bill into law. No word has yet reached this reporter about His Catholic Majesty's plans regarding this piece of legislation. His devout Catholicism and avowed anti-abortion views might prove a factor in favor of a veto, but his tendency not to veto acts of the Cortes could possible save the day for the women of Free Garza. Hopefully, continued ban on partial-birth abortion (a difficult compromise for this reporter, but perhaps necessary for ratification), will avoid such an undesirable fate.

Barring that, we would have to hope for the necessary super-majority in the Cortes to override a royal veto, no mean feat, as it has yet to happen since the monarchy was restored. This reporters fear that abortion would not be the issue to break that streak. Then again, royal vetoes are so rare that only time will tell if this becomes the last straw for our constitutional king. As a feminist and progressive, I strongly hope that he stays true to form.

Temethis Chronicle
Victory at the Front

The first victory in reviving the Holy State of Ashab has come. All of you know of the battle raging in the east, 20 or so miles from the Republican controlled Saberis Army Base. It started out with the infidel's taking defensive positions thinking they would slaughter our holy warriors in droves. General Juber Shada, chosen by the Patriarch himself to lead our fight and using stratagems bestowed by Heaven itself was able to outmaneuver the Republican forces. General Raamiz Zaher, the Republican commander was blind to our Army's movements. Once our brave crusaders had the Republicans surrounded, it was only a matter of time. Temethis Chronicle is proud to announce that yesterday at 3:30 PM, the Republican 10th Infantry and 29th Mechanized Infantry surrendered with our forces taking some 16,000 prisoners including Republican Generals Bassil Ahmadi and Khalid Kamali. The Theology Council has declared this achievement, "Proof of the wickedness of Anjideen and the legitimacy of our uprising."

But our fight is not over. Standing in our way are Anjideen's own personal minions, the 71st Republican Guards. As this article is written, Republican forces in the East come Westward to do the Devil's bidding. In the South, our tanks engage the Republicans in a battle that has yet to be decided. The Patriarch has called upon all true Ashabis to have faith that God is on our side and victory will be ours.

Leclerc Addresses Terrorism
Aimée Renault

Following recent terror attacks in New Othman and the Republic of Adiron, president Michelle Leclerc used her annual holiday address to the nation to discuss a number of topics. The president condemned the attacks in Isidium and Kahya with strong words calling them atrocious acts of barbarism perpetrated those seeking to spread the seeds of hatred and fear across the region. After her denouncement, the president then offered a her condolences to the nations of Adiron and New Othman stating:
Image
President Leclerc Addresses the Nation

“I am without words to describe the grief the people of L’Ossienne and myself feel at the deaths of so many innocents in the nations of Adiron and New Othman and hope my words do not ring hollow when I say that all of us in L’Osienne offer our deepest condolences for all those that have been lost to this world. But, no one should grieve alone and no one should have to wait, fearful that those with evil and violent intentions will strike again. I and all of L’Ossienne offer our sisters and brothers in Adiron and New Othman not only our heartfelt condolences, but also our continued friendship...”

Leclerc then went on to state that she would support the two republics with whatever means at her disposal and making it very clear that military assistance was certainly type of aid that would be considered if it were necessary.

In a change from the format usually used by presidents in their holiday addresses, President Leclerc held a press conference following the usual event in which she answered questions for an additional two hours. Among the most strongly voiced questions were those regarding the information leaked from Adiron concerning the idea that the Imperium of Arbites was directly involved in the attack on Isidium and what that might mean in regard to FODE.

The president replied to these questions by stating:

“The idea that any state would sponsor such a horrendous attack on a civilian population is deeply disturbing and is being investigated in conjunction with our friends in Adiron. If, and I pray this is not that case, this information is genuine, I would remind those involved that L’Ossienne and the entirety of the NCTO will stand beside our sisters and brothers in Adiron with sabers drawn and a shout on our lips. The free world will not stand by and let those filled with evil rule us with fear...”

Toward the end of the press conference, President Leclerc responded to a query from one our own reporters concerning FODE and Arbites’ involvement in the would be oil cartel. She stated that she had met with her counterpart in Wielkilas, Prime Minister Gomes, and signed an agreement that would place a travel ban on all FODE officials and officials of entities associated with the cartel until the Imperium of Arbites had it’s membership permanently revoked. When she was asked to elaborate further on the agreement, president Leclerc said she would disclose more information after she had chance to speak with the rest of NCTO member states and receive their thoughts on the matter.

What was said in the President’s speech was emotion filled but not entirely unexpected. How her words are heard across the region is not entirely known. Who will listen and how closely will they listen? Perhaps more will be revealed during President Leclerc’s upcoming visit the Othmani capital of Ankara.

THE FINEBERG TIMES

Dec. 17, 2015

King’s Birthday Wish: Peace in Cornellia

by Cassandra Kazantzakis

FINEBERG, New Edom-- Regional concerns about New Edom’s alliance with the imperium began with Adiran concerns about terrorism. They went on to a direct call by Foreign Minister Paler of Jedoria to New Edom to abandon the alliance. The much rumoured pro-Adiran stance of Empress Sophia of Ghant and the tensions that continue between the Shrailleeni Empire and the Imperium continue. When Queen Mara (beautiful as always as Eve n her garden, putting clothed women everywhere to shame) was asked by a journalist recently what King Elijah IV wanted for his birthday, she said ‘peace.” But can he have it as a gift or will he have to pay for it?

The Apostolic Church’s Ways and Means to Peace study group based out of Fineberg University presented its views in a series of seminars held at universities across the country over the last month. It was sid that King Elijah IV has arguably been the strongest proponent of regional peace in decades, and certainly one of the greatest democratic reformers the nation has ever seen. “To willingly accept checks and balances of his own authority, promote democratic elections, encourage checks and balances to policy development and enactment to the point of even accepting a budget for the Defense Ministry that hinders his own plans is remarkable,” said Father Gregory Menzes, a spokesman for the think tank. “It has reduced ethnic and religious strife and provided what many intellectuals in this country feel is a safety valve for dissent. Yet he has generally not been as admired as Queen Mara in the rest fo the Region. This is a big question.”

Father Gregory said, “I think that athe answer lies in our alliance with the imperium. It was King Elijah IV as Regent who backed up the Heir’s request for help. The Heir is seen by some journalists and politicians in the Region as a force for suppression of dissent. The imperium certainly is. Some would argue that by supporting the Imperium, the King,a s the senior executive authority in the country is backing up deliberate economic attacks on the Imperium’s enemies through FODE and military attacks in Ceti.”

There have been protests outside the embassies of some of these enemies: STOP the LIEs say signs outside the Adiran, Jedorian, L’Ossienne, Shrailleeni and Deadoran embassies. However there have also been protest outside the Imperium embassy demanding that there be a withdrawal of forces from the Palisdaes. The recent speech by the goreous President of L'Ossienne was quite striking and has already had hundreds of thousands of hits on social media. One question on the mind of this reporter is: is her hair naturally that shiny?

“A lot of us feel grateful to them for helping us,” said Barnaby Shulman, a member of the National Wisdom Party and former Fineberg Flockers Center MF. Readers may remember the power of those thighs and his double slam in the 2013 Match against Nass.. “But we also think they are going too far and stirring up Regional conflict. We want to side with moral nations that uphold conservative values, but not at the price of a war without good reason…”

“It’s deeply ironic that we find supposedly freee and liberal Jedoria, Adiron and L’Ossienne siding with the Deadorans against us. Ultimately the deadorans are blocking off part of the Region to anyone they don’t’ like, and L’Ossienne, a supposedly peaceful kindly nation, is backing them up. There’ a word for this: hypocrisy,” said Sarah Carmel, the Free Congress leader, former President of the Theocratic Republic and currently National Resources Committee leader.

If there is one person in the country who does not seek popularity, it is King Elijah IV, who has been typically silent on the subject, and spared only one brief state address on the matter of the crises in Ceti, New Othman, the Gulf of Deadora and Ashabi:

“As your King, I am more than willing to hear the words of your elected representatives on these subjects. However as things currently stand, I will fulfill our obligations according to the treaties we have signed and I will continue to lead this nation as I have done before. It is my hope that there will be peace in the Region and that cooler heads will prevail. Radical shifts in policy at this time would merely be panic. Peace takes hard work and we must get on with it and not be distracted by emotionalism and confusion.”

Directorate Condemns the Imperium of Arbites
Trade Sanctions Pending

This morning the Directorate Panel has issued a statement condemning the Imperium of Arbites for the evidence brought to light by the Adiran government. After calls by the Trask Administration for peacekeeping and mediation, it seems the Directorate may force the Administration to take a harder stance. In addition to the condemnation, the Directorate is considering trade sanctions against the Imperium although several leaders in the corporate sector have promised to fight the constitutionality of such a sanctions all the way to the Supreme Court. Clarence Tadashi of the Directorate Foreign Relations Committee had this to say.

"The evidence brought forth by the Adiran government, though not irrefutable, is enough to be actionable. It is time the United Federation stop taking the middle ground. We must make it known that Novitera will take a stand against warmongering, unprovoked acts of military aggression, attempts to disrupt the world economy by choking the supply of oil and state sponsored terrorism. The United Federation condemns the unacceptable conduct of the Imperium of Arbites and is seeking punitive trade sanctions against them at this time. We at the Directorate promise to the Noviteran public that these revelations will have bearing on all future relations and interactions with the Imperium. However, these relations are not irreparable. Curative steps can be taken to redeem the Arbiter government in our eyes. This includes the Curia taking responsibility and apologizing to the international community for their actions, pledges to promote a peace in Ceti and just compensation paid to the Adiran government for the destruction they had wrought in Isidium, as well as just compensation to aggrieved parties for their part in driving up the price of oil in the region."

Deadora Blockades Gulf

Deadoran Matriarch of Defense Haylei Onsin has announced that the Navy would close the Strait of Laz to non-SAEC military vessels and subject non-SAEC merchant shipping to searches. In a message broadcast on state media, Onsin cited concerns over terrorism from the Imperium in Krutongo and groups in New Othman:

"We cannot idle in complacency," Matriarch Onsin stated. "Action is necessary to ensure the threat of terrorism is contained. I have been authorized by the Matriarch Empress to place the Imperial Armed Forces on High alert. In accordance with her mandate, I have enacted the following policies. Access to and from the Gulf of Deadora will hereby be closed to military vessels of non-SAEC navies. The 2nd Fleet will be deployed in full force in and around the Gulf area to hamper the efforts of pirates, smugglers, and terrorists attempting to move internationally. In addition, merchant shipping of non-SAEC nations, excluding our trusted trade partners, will be subject to increased scrutiny and searches when entering or exiting the Gulf of Deadora. Such policies will remain in place until the security of Deadora and her trading partners can be assured."

However, some are questioning the move. International Relations Chair Michelle Swan was concerned that a blockade of the Strait was both provocative and potentially damaging to Adiran interests. "The deployment of the Deadoran 2nd fleet could have repercussions for the CPO Mission to Central Acheron. Adiron remains a major contributor to that mission, which is more important than ever given the current terrorist threat. I think we all have questions about if Adiran forces will also be turned back at the Strait despite ostensibly serving the same goal. If actual fighting breaks out in the Gulf the result could be even worse. Right now Deadora has said it will only subject merchant shipping to more scrutiny rather than turn them back. If fighting breaks out in the Gulf however, the potential exists to completely cut Valik and Lazodiria off from international trade."

Secretary of State Deol's office responded to an inquiry about the situation in the Gulf. "The Secretary of State would like to assure everyone that the government is monitoring the situation carefully. This office can say the government is not convinced that a blockade is necessarily the wisest move at this time, especially given that the Imperium has indicated it will attempt to force entry to the Strait if it is denied access. Given the geography of the Strait it would undoubtedly be feasible to simply track each vessel entering and exiting rather than setting up a blockade, which might be just as effective at combating terrorism and less provocative. We will be in touch with Bryn Tegna."

Some ANBC analysts are concerned about the wider implications, including what it could mean for New Edom. Mark Savage commented "The question since their alliance formed has been simple: will they take their side in the next war? Whatever detente exists between Fineberg and Bryn Tegna now, there's too much history for them to forget all at once. Some in New Edom and Deadora will always regard the other as a potential threat. How this affects us, if you read the latest from the Fineberg Times, some are starting to lump us in with Deadora now since they're starting to act against the Imperium. Did we have anything to do with Deadora's decision? I don't think so, probably not, but some will choose to see it that way."

Others were even more skeptical. Popular Libertarian writer Alice Morrison posted "Do we really want to be associated with a nation like Deadora? If you swap their gender relations around their human rights record is almost as bad as the Imperium's. Plus they fought a war to take over Krutongo already, what if they were just waiting for an excuse?"

Even some who have expressed support for military action have questioned whether or not action against Krutongo would translate into any meaningful support for Adiron. Armed Forces Chair Andrew Michaels said "If the Deadorans are trying to show solidarity with us, I'm not sure they're going about it the right way. Krutongo is an Imperial toehold in Acheron, yes, but right now Arcologia must remain our key focus."
In-character name of the nation is "Adiron," because I like the name better.

Nymun responds to recent political crisis.

(Ghish, Ghant)- Recent events in Ceti have Ghant up in arms against the Imperium in the greatest show of anti-Imperium sentiment that Ghant has ever witnessed. Sources close to the Adiran Defense Ministry claim that the Imperium has been mobilizing forces in Arcologia to support the Union of South Ceti against the Confederation in the disputed region of the Palisades. Should the Union gain control of the disputed area, their Imperium allies would have gained an advantage in the region that could be of threat to Adiron.

Other allegations have been made regarding the Bluebrook terrorist attacks and their connection to the Imperium. Adiran President Tavish DeGroot addressed the world regarding his policy on the matters in question, going as far as to present the findings of their “thorough investigation:”

“The Isidium bombing was carried out by the Inquisition. We know this through contacts in Arcologia, through the equipment and methods the bombers employed, and through information gleaned from the suspects themselves.”

Immediately following President DeGroot’s address, protestors took to the streets of Ghish and other cities including Onmutu, Galan, Gaemarlen and Gauportuan to express their outrage against the Imperium, with many calling for a condemnation, sanctions and an embassy withdrawal. The Imperium Embassy in Ghish was itself under siege by protestors who threw Molotov cocktails and rocks at the embassy building, which prompted riot police to intervene. Numerous injuries and arrests have been reported in each of these cities.

Responding to recent events, Prime Minister Nymun Izarbegiratzeak took center stage at a press conference. “I think it goes without saying that the terrorist attacks in both Adiron and New Othman are regrettable and despicable, and that the people of Ghant stand with the people of Adiron and New Othman as they heal and try to move on from these horrible events. Having said that, I think the most important thing we can focus on is that we are all people, and should for our fellow man in such times of suffering.”

In what might be considered a memorable address by the Prime Minister, he went on at length about the implications of the Imperium sponsoring the terrorist attacks in Adiron and escalating the conflict between the Union and Confederation. “The words of my dear friend President Tavish DeGroot are words that struck a chord with me, because it brings to the forefront an issue that I have written about many times in the past, that being my idea of the Sandcastle. You see, there can be a child who spends his time building a sandcastle on the beach, taking the time and effort to craft it with their hands. Then you have another child who comes up and kicks it, thereby destroying it. Such is life…there are two kinds of people in it. There are those who build and those who destroy. I would ask all the nations of the word, which one are you? A builder or a destroyer? If the Imperium is a destroyer like President DeGroot says it is, then we must take a stand against them. Otherwise, our sandcastles could be next.”

“Now, it would be politically convenient for me to point a finger at the Imperium and accuse them of being a destroyer. That’s what everyone else seems to be doing. That’s certainly what the people of Ghant are doing…and that’s what they would want me to do too. Once I have seen whatever smoking gun President DeGroot has to implicate the Imperium as being behind the Bluebrook bombings, at that point this government will take swift and severe action against the Imperium. We will issue the strongest condemnation of the Imperium that our government will allow.”

“However, I cannot in good faith do that until I have seen the smoking gun myself. Such a thing is not done lightly, and can only be done based upon an informed and objective opinion based upon the most solid form of evidence demonstrating nothing less than a smoking gun. President DeGroot says he has actionable intelligence, and this might constitute a smoking gun. I would like to see that.”

“I suspect that I will be blasted in the media for not just going all-in against the Imperium, despite what my countrymen, and my better judgment would have me believe about the degree to which they are responsible. Certainly it would be politically convenient and opportune, but I want to make one thing clear. I am not a politician. I don’t play that game. For me this is a matter of principle, and I see the precedent that this could set. If I am going to initiate any action against any nation, whether it is one as unpopular as the Imperium, or one as popular as say, Garza, then I have to be able to make an informed decision. I can’t do that without knowing whatever President DeGroot knows. If you wanted a Prime Minister that would throw his weight around based upon political opportunism and convenience, then you voted for the wrong party.”

Regarding FODE, the Prime Minister added that, “With respect to FODE, there is a charter, and that charter is being ignored. I think it is only fair that Secretary-General Reyes uphold the charter and respect what it says about term limits. Anything else is an abuse of power and a blatant disregard for the other nations that make up FODE.”

In response to DeGroot’s speech, the government of Deadora declared that “access to and from the Gulf of Deadora will hereby be closed to military vessels of non-SAEC navies.

The Prime Minister, when asked about this action, had the following to say. “Ghant is a non-SAEC nation that has strong trade relationships with both Valik and Lazodiria. We would hope that the government of Deadora considers Ghant a ‘trusted trade partner,’ because I will not allow our merchant vessels to be subject to searches and seizures in international waters. Such would be a violation of our trade with Valik and Lazodiria, as well as a blatant disregard for their sovereignty. This would be a condemnable offense in its own right, and I hope that Deadora will not impede upon our valued trade with the states in the gulf.”

Prime Minister Nymun’s decision to not immediately condemn the Imperium and impose sanctions has been met with swift derision by Ghantish citizens. Protests outside Gobernu Palace have been escalating to the point of riot police having to take to the streets in an effort to contain them, and Nymun’s approval rating, previously hovering around 60%, has dipped sharply to roughly 48%, his lowest since taking office. Meanwhile, approval for the Imperium has dropped to a whopping 2%, which is the lowest it has ever been, while support for Adiron is at 78%. The poll also indicated that a staggering 90% of Ghantish citizens believe that the Imperium was responsible for the terrorist attacks in Adiron.

The Palace also issued a statement, urging “all parties to focus on the spirit of peace, cooperation and dialogue. Ghant would be honored to host peace talks should all the involved parties wish for it.”

In Other News

Elsewhere, the Nekulturnyan government has urged caution and restraint regarding the situation in Ceti, while calling for peace talks between the Union and Confederation. The Nekulturnyan government has supported the Shrais’ call for CPO intervention in order to defuse tensions in the area and ensure an objective resolution to the conflict there.

In Vorindeum, changes regarding the succession have been enacted, transforming the formerly elective monarchy into a hereditary one. Male-preference primogeniture has been implemented, so that the daughter of a reigning sovereign can succeed if she has no brothers. In the present situation, Emperor Albert has two children, the first being the fifteen year old King Edward of Ziri in northern Ghant by Albert’s first wife the Laena of Ziri. The second is Princess Adela, his daughter by his second wife (and first cousin) Princess Isabel of Garza. Adela was born on September 23rd, and is styled a Princess in several countries due to her parents’ dynastic connections. While the succession by default would fall to Edward, sources indicate that he would decline to assume the throne of Vorindeum upon his father’s death (it is worth pointing out that they have an estranged father-son relationship). Therefore, it seems likely that Adela will one day become Empress of Vorindeum.

Other news out of Vorindeum saw Emperor Albert, formerly the Lord Regent of Ghant from 1997-2006, comment on the situation in Ceti. “Anyone with eyes can see through the dog and pony show that President Tavish DeGroot would have the world believe about the Imperium. The Union of South Ceti is exemplary for it’s achievements to strides to become a functional state in the otherwise dysfunction Arcologia. It only makes sense then, that some godless republic like Adiron would wish to not only bring chaos and disarray upon Arcologia, but capitalize upon its weaknesses in a time of trouble in order to achieve some political gain. Instead of talking about the pirates, slavers and brigands that infest Arcologia, we are now focusing on the Imperium. Well done, Tavish.

“To make matters worse, leave it to the government of Deadora, and all of these other irresponsible nations to drink DeGroot’s Kool-Aid like pigs from a trough. I strongly urge the governments of Valik and Lazodiria, where my dear cousin Nathaniel Victor VII reigns as Prince, to urge Deadora to respect their national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of their waters. This blatant act of aggression by Deadora is condemnable, but I shall in my wisdom give Empress Thrall the opportunity to see reason and stand down and allow trade to be conducted fairly and without impediment. I would also urge all the other Kool-Aid drinking leaders of the world to not follow DeGroot so blindly as to accept anything he says regarding the Imperium as gospel. The man is a politician, and the head of a republic at that, and will spin wool over your eyes in order to make you see what he wants you see.

“I would urge the Imperium to focus on its mission to defend the Union of South Ceti and bringing known traffickers, pirates and smugglers to justice. After all, talk is cheap, and deeds carry the day.”
While nothing concrete has been demonstrated, sources indicate that Vorindeum is “on alert,” and is preparing to mobilize military forces in the event of war.

Queen Mara of New Edom.

(Ghish, Ghant)- When Edomite President Perrin Pahath-Moab won the 2014 Ismos Peace Prize, there was a great deal of controversy. 2015 couldn’t be any further from the opposite. Queen Mara of New Edom has been awarded the 2015 Ismos Peace Prize, becoming the second consecutive Edomite to win the award.

Gorka Aguirre, the Chairman of the Ismos Peace Committee and former Ghantish Prime Minister from 1992 until 1998, said that Queen Mara was to receive the award, "In recognition of the fact that in 2015, no individual person has worked harder for the cause of cooperation and peace than Queen Mara. What she went through during the most recent Edomite Civil War, and what she was able to accomplish, is extraordinary. She is an inspiration not only to the people of her own country, but to people all over the world. Queen Mara embodies everything that this award is about, and I congratulate her on being its most recent recipient."

Other candidates for the 2015 Prize included the Isidium Foundation, who many expected to win the 2014 Prize, and Arata Kasuga of Dai Nihon. The former has been instrumental in delivering humanitarian aid to nations affected by war, such as New Edom and Peregrino, while Arata Kasuga negotiated peace in the war-torn nation of Guadalupador between Dorian insurgents and SACTO forces.

"After last year’s poor decision to award the late Perrin Pahath Moab over the Isidium Foundation, awarding Queen Mara was a step in the right direction in terms of restoring some of the Committee’s tarnished credibility,” Said Dr. Manu Beldara, Professor of International Relations at the University of Ghish. “Whereas the late President was being awarded based upon what he could have done, Queen Mara is being awarded based on what she has done already. She won the award due to her merits, sustained commitment to peace and the cause of humanitarianism in a manner that goes above and beyond what was expected of her, even at her own personal risk. I’m glad the committee got it right this time.”

The award is one of the oldest of its kind in the world, having been awarded every year since 1890. The award was founded in accordance with the will of the first Ghantish Prime Minister Irat Ismos who asked that a yearly award be given "To the person who has done the most of best work for peace between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies and of preventing or ending conflict."

Queen Mara, if she accepts the award, will be presented it by Empress Sophia, herself the recipient of the 2013 award and Mara’s former sister-in-law, at Ghish Concert Hall.

Order Eidos
Special Report

Proof of Palisades Attacks Released

The crisis in Arcologia has revealed the true nature of many nations throughout Cornellia. Without basis they condemn the Imperium. Without evidence they level accusations. With no regard to the Imperium's claims they enact policy hostile to both the Imperium and the Union. The Noviteran, Jedorian, Deadoran, Allamunnic, and Ossienaise governments have condemned the Imperium having never made contact through regular diplomatic channels. They have accepted a one-sided narrative, showing contempt for the Imperium's efforts to dispel the rumors and lies peddled by the Adirans.

In the interests of cutting through the web of lies and half-truths the Adiran claims are based on, the Curia has decided to generously release intelligence of its own showing the full scope of the Confederate attack in the Palisades. Satellite photographs clearly show the aftermath of a relentless, sweeping offensive on Union positions, with Union helicopter crash sites, firebases and airfields shelled into oblivion, and supply depots set ablaze. Reports from radar operators will show that Adiran aircraft entered Arcologian airspace in support of the attack, carrying out reconnaissance and electronic warfare missions. The Imperium will also provide real-time updates on the status of the current Adiran incursion into the Palisades as they approach the 14th's advance forces.

The attack in the Palisades was planned far in advance, with sources in Cataran informing us that there was a major recruiting drive which would have been impossible without an influx of funds. In this offensive military intelligence suggests the Confederate militia demonstrated technical proficiency and tactics never employed before. Our same sources indicate that Adiran advisors were present in the training of these new Confederate forces, explaining their use of artillery, surface-to-air missiles, and coordinated squad-based tactics. They are highly similar in that regard to the rebels in Cabazon Beach who have so brazenly attacked the Edomites, though unlike other governments, the Curia will not jump to conclusions that these rebels must be backed by the Adirans.

Under these circumstances, how could the Imperium not respond as it has in the Union so far? We have no assurances that the Confederates will stop at the Palisades. Their military buildup could be a prelude to a general attack on the Union border region, the Folau claims of human trafficking a pretext. The Imperium seeks to deter this aggression, lest the Union's efforts to restore order to Arcologia be undermined by a full-scale proxy war.

Furthermore, there is no proof supporting the slanderous accusations that the Imperium has supported terrorism in any capacity. The Adiran government in its arrogance appears to expect the international community to fall into line just because they provide some easily-fabricated intelligence reports. The DeGroot regime expects itself to be beyond question. There has been no independent review of their supposed evidence, and only our allies in New Edom have called for any kind of scrutiny to be applied to the Adiran claims. Naturally the Adirans have expressed their contempt for such an action, because their claims are groundless and they know this.

The Imperium calls for a thorough review of the Adiran intelligence provided by unbiased parties. None of the governments which have condemned the Imperium on this matter should be considered qualified, as they have demonstrated an undue bias in the current conflict.

Aurelian Chancellor Takes Lead in Argument for Rearmament and Redeployment

-Cites escalating situation in Arcologia
-Comes amidst the growing anxiety over ever-nearing election for the new High Chancellor
-The Road to War?

The argument of the week has been, unsurprisingly, over the proper response to the escalating situation in Arcologia. Though no official stance has been taken by the combined Altian government, all national leaders have, at some point, taken something of a stance on the situation. And none have been so persistent and insistent in their beliefs in strong action than the commander-in-chief of Altinum's largest military.

"Now is not a time to be drawing back on our enforceable strength. That time was twenty, thirty years ago. We can not act as though Altinum is a content member of the world stage now. For better or for worse, we have taken sides. We have been taking sides for decades, but now more than ever we can not afford to act as though we have not," said Adenauer, in a speech presented to the Altian Parliament earlier today.

The words have rung true, particularly among the large veteran community across Altinum. Those who were there for the last war that ended not two years ago, and those that were there in Ceti even forty, fifty years ago.

"There is no version of this narrative that ends with us remaining here, away from the problems across the sea. Because we made ourselves a part of those problems, a part of that conflict that we must now not back from. And so, if it goes to war? Have we yet shied away from that challenge before? Our valiant young men fought not to end the conflict for all generations after us, but to ensure that there would still be an Altinum for those generations to defend. It is not over, and we can not act as though it did, two years ago.

A large part of this drive, defence experts say, is not just to begin to produce more weapons, ammunition, and vehicles for the military now but to ensure that if a war comes that that industry will already be in full production capacity, not stagnated and made to restart when they are needed most. A vital precaution, many say, if leaders intend to prepare for the road to war.

(Ghish, Ghant)- The wait is over! Inperiala Palace said in a statement: “Her Imperial Majesty the Empress of Ghant has safely delivered a daughter at 12:12 AM. The baby weighs 8lbs. The Emperor of Ghant was present for the birth. Members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Imperial Majesty and her child are both doing well.” The announcement was made to the media shortly before it appeared on Inperiala Palace’s official Twitter feed, as has now become a tradition. Shortly thereafter, a formal announcement of the birth was displayed on a piece of paper placed on an easel outside Inperiala Palace.

Prime Minister Nymun Izarbegiratzeak was among the first to congratulate the couple, saying on Twitter: “Congratulations to the Emperor and Empress on the birth of a healthy baby girl. I’m absolutely delighted for them.”

The wait lasted several months, but when the waiting finally ended tonight, everything went according to plan. Births have a habit of being difficult and unpredictable, but so poised is the Empress that the arrival of her fourth children in less than fourteen months. There had been a great deal of concern due to the fact that the Empress was expecting so soon after when she previously gave birth. Yet, everything seemed to go perfectly as planned.

The newest member of the Imperial family, born at 12:12 AM and weighing 8 lbs, was delivered expertly and without incident. The Emperor released a statement saying that he and his wife were “very pleased, and thankful” that everything went so well. The Empress had previously stated that she hoped it would be a girl, and the Ghant followed suit.

Thousands of bets were placed on the baby being a girl…in fact, the only people who did not want a girl were the bookies, who now face collective payouts of several hundred thousand Ghantmarks after the public guessed right.

The baby is the second highest ranking princess in Ghant, after her older sister Sara, Princess Imperial. Bumped down to third is her aunt, Arietta, and down to fourth is her first cousin once removed, Adela of Vorindun, daughter of her great-uncle Albert, Emperor of Vorindun.

Town criers could be seen traversing Ghish and other major cities, heralding the arrival of the new princess. “Attention, on this day, the first of January, in the year 2016, we welcome with humble duty, the fourth born of their Imperial Majesties, the Emperor and Empress of Ghant. May our Princess be long lived, happy and glorious.”

The Princess’s birth will also be celebrated by the nation’s fashion retailers, who can expect to make up to a hundred million Ghantmarks per year when she and her older sister are older as a result of intense interest there will be in her style sense. Without a doubt, her and her sister’s every move, every dress and every hairstyle is certain to be scrutinized, studied and copied across the globe. Welcome to life as a princess in the 21st century.

“Princesses wear beautiful clothes. They endear themselves in a way boys don’t,” Ghish fashion designer Gaea Laranza said. “The new Princess and her sister will be fashion icons and trendsetters for years to come.”

The baby’s older sister Princess Sara and brothers Crown Prince Nathan and Prince John are already subject to constant attention. While the Ghantish press has an agreement with the Emperor and Empress to only publish authorized photographs of the children, paparazzi play by no such rules.

All eyes for the next two to three decades will be on the baby and how she is transformed into a young lady. The baby princess, of course, will not have a clue about what awaits her. But she will grow up to be one of the most famous princess in the world. And regardless of the outcome, every little girl starts out in life wanting that.

Brief of Senate Resolution 017-12-27-2015
Date: 12/27/2015
Subject: Ashab Civil Conflict

Overview: The Senate, by a vote of 47-10 with 4 abstentions, has approved a resolution in which the Federation of Allamunnic States announces its neutrality in the current civil conflict in Ashab. The stated rationale for this decision is the inability to determine a meritorious side in the conflict of sufficient integrity to justify the expenditure of Allamunnic lives, treasure, or social capital in its aid.

Despite this, the resolution also includes statements of condemnation towards the violence as a whole, and announces a plan to begin accepting refugees from Ashab, as well as allocating funds to investigate the prospects of providing direct relief to affected Ashabi civilians. The formal position, finalized by the Senate, also received a statement of support from the Assembly, and was signed by Generalissimo Stevan Grimmeburger.

Emperor threatens sanctions for blockade!

Postby Late Roman Empire » Tue Jan 05, 2016 7:37 pm

Belisarium Tribune
Antonius Antoninus

The Divine Augustus, Valerian II, has reportedly issued a formal warning to the Feminist Empire of Deadora that, "If this blockade should persist, we shall have no alternative to exercise economic penalties and sanctions available to us, in order to remedy and retaliate for the loss in markets and revenue."

There has been considerable talk of withdrawing the Roman Trade Envoy in Bryn Tegna, Decidius Plancus.

"Due to the intransigence and obstinacy of the Feminist Empire in this matter, perhaps our efforts toward improved trade relations must be considered futile and hopeless, pending the restoration of the freedom of the seas," claimed Count Statius Gallienus, the Roman Legate to the CPO.

The Master of Offices, Count Servius Ahenobarbus, meanwhile, has warned both Deadora, Jedoria, the Shrailleeni Empire, and Arbites Materia that, "Aggression and provocation are breaches of the Treaty of New Laconia, and will not be taken lightly by the Empire or by the CPO, we are confident."

It remains to be seen if the Jedorians and others will heed the Roman warning or simply dismiss it, which would be potentially harmful to the region. As with Ashab and Arcologia, the best solution is a honestly brokered peace. We shall see if the participants are wise enough to reason that much. We have our doubts, regrettably, here in the Empire.
"I swear by Almighty God that I will faithfully serve and obey the Divine Augustus, as our Lord and Master, and hold him alone as my true, dread sovereign and prince. I swear that I will serve him loyally until the hour of my death, on pain of damnation to my eternal soul." - the Imperial Oath of Allegiance (administered to the civil service and armed forces)

Woe to they who demand things of the Lord of the World, for he is neither so obliged nor amused.

Brief of Senate Resolution 013-12-27-2015
Date: 12/27/2015
Subject: Blockade of the Strait of Laz

Overview: The Senate, by a vote of 37-14-9, has approved a resolution regarding the current Deadoran blockade of the Strait of Laz. The wording of the resolution is as follows:

"In regards to the current blockade carried out by the Feminist Empire of Deadora in the Strait of Laz, we find that we cannot, in good conscience, fault the stated intent behind this course of action. With that said, we must stress that the current blockade is having a negative impact on regional trade and security far beyond the intended scope of this action. As such, we must ask that the Feminist Empire of Deadora either cease the blockade, or adjust it so as to limit its scope to Krutongo, limiting its affect on other, neutral or allied nations in the Strait of Laz."

The Generalissimo has approved and signed the resolution in solidarity with the elected government, while the Assembly has issued a statement supporting the actions of the Senate in defining Allamunnic foreign policy.

Protests against Deadora, Gloria Regis!

Postby United Valik » Sun Jan 10, 2016 11:08 pm

Glauconeum Gazette,
Charles Lowenstein

80,000 Valikan citizens, of both sexes and all parties, turned out for a rally in central Glauconeum today, in which the Krutongo blockade by the Feminist Empire of Deadora and the disenfranchisement of men in Gloria Regis were fiercely protested, with former Chief Archon Odysseos Portakallos taking center stage in his open criticism of the "bullying of patriarchies and egalitarian states by the matriarchies in this region, which has gotten out of hand."

"We were lied to, about the whole New Edom-Gloria Regis thing. The Feminists claimed that they would support a multi-party democratic republic. Instead, they imposed matriarchal majoritarian tyranny on the men of their island, meanwhile their Sisters in Deadora have closed Krutongo to business, thus THREATENING TO STARVE THE MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN of that colony in order to weaken the Imperium of Arbites Materia! It is high time that free elections, with both sexes eligible, be held again in Gloria Regis, to let men vote for or against the party that disenfranchised them, and to let women vote on the party that turned them into oppressors of their husbands, fathers, brothers, and sons! It is high time that Deadora leave Krutongo alone! When all parties, even those who once supported independence for Gloria Regis, have taken this stance, you know how much it has incensed this nation! What is going on in Gloria Regis is a travesty of freedom and justice! We demand free elections, equal rights for men, and the dissolution of political police in Gloria Regis!" Portakallos thundered to the massive crowd.

Paulina Adamski, the People's Party leader who once advocated national liberation for Gloria Regis, openly declared, "The Redstocking radical feminists have betrayed their male comrades and turned oppressors of them! The men stood with the women when the latter were oppressed, but the moment that the women had their majority, they imposed inequality and injustice on their brethren! It is injustice! It is oppression! It is fascist tyranny in the name of feminism! High time that all Gloria Regians are permitted their say! Oppressing women was wrong and we said so back then! Oppressing men is also wrong, and we say it openly, now and for the record of history!"

Mikis Baukis, the Federalist Party Leader, waxed vehement against the, "Horrible injustice that is Krutongo, where Imperial citizens suffer everyday from the privations imposed upon them by the Deadoran blockade! Hunger, famine, and destitution.....horrors of malnourishment! Those are the legacies of Deadoran imperialism and hostility toward the Imperium! We want free trade and freedom of the seas for Krutongo! Freedom of religion and a restoration of every man's birthright of suffrage for Gloria Regis and we want it now!"

Even mild-mannered Father Ioannis Kanakaredes, a Valikan Orthodox priest and Chairman of the Christian Democratic Party, hurled invective at the, "Profoundly malicious and oppressive cult of Woman as Goddess, which now imposes not only starvation and famine, a state of siege, on Krutongo, but also disenfranchisement upon nearly of all Gloria Regis, all for being the firstborn creation of Almighty God, the Adam that preceded Eve in the Garden of Eden. Therefore, in solidarity with the Edenists and others who are being stripped of their religious freedom and dignity, I am removing my clothes and identifying myself as a fellow sufferer with the End Times Church and all others who are deprived of their humanity by both Deadora and the Feminist regime in Gloria Regis! I will not wear clothing again until the siege is lifted, men's rights are restored, and freedom of religion in Gloria Regis is secure!"

With that, just as he preached, the priest undressed in full view of the public, wearing nothing but his hat and shoes. More than 12,000 others followed his lead, not all of them Christians, while some 35 rabbis and 850 Valikan Jews rent their clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes in protest of the mistreatment of men, Christians, and the people of Krutongo by the matriarchies of Cornellia. While most did not go that far, the very fact of such a large mass demonstration against human rights violations by the region's matriarchies leaves little doubt where the majority of Valikans stand, and that is likely to be reflected at the ballot box come the next elections.

Matriarchies of Cornellia, take notice. Your brutal oppression has not gone without protest and complaint now, and we will hammer away at your arrogance and hubris until it is forever gone. You have had your high watermark with Gloria Regis, and from now on, it is the beginning of the end.

Foreign Company Shutdowns Cause Concerns

by Annabelle Barca

FINEBERG, New Edom-- Several foreign corporations have closed their doors in New Edom over the last few years, and it is building to what some authorities in the country are calling a growing economic crisis.
During the 1970s and 80s, the New Day Party, a liberalization and modernization political party had dominated the National Legislature and had opened the nation’s doors to foreign investment on a grand scale. While it is illegal for foreigners to own land in New Edom leases for factory and other developments as ell as petroleum developments had begun to spread across the land. However this reliance almost entirely on foreign developments to the advantage of foreign corporations had been accompanied by massive corruption, as New Day Party leaders appointed their friends and families to positios in the civil service and on the boards of these companies in New Edom. When these companies pulled iup stakes, New Edom was left high and dry. Workers, without unions, found themselves in difficult positions and had taken to the streets to protest and later riot as poverty became extreme. The government nationalized a great deal of property and mining, petroleum and other sale of natural resources became the mainstay of the national economy. The conflict and gulf between rich and poor became greater, and many see the Monarchist movement as an attempt to keep law and order in place even where it might have been at the expense of ordinary citizens.
The current government, both in the Council of Ministers and in the Chamber of Deputies are dedicated to policies which compromise concerns about workers’ rights, supporting religious and tribal traditions and facing the needs to be competitive financially and economically in an ever changing world. A good example of this is the Agriculture Reform Act, intended to make sure that ordinary citizens of New Edom are free to learn new skills and develop businesses without being forced to work entirely to put food on the table.
Urban citizens are facing a new crisis: the closure of factories, warehouses and industries due to changes in foreign markets. Kai Commercial House, a former important exporter of green technologies, has closed down. Asai Motors, which had two large factories and a distribution center in New Edom, has also shut down, as has Grammaton Aeronautics and Circuit Center. The strategy of both the Touchstone and Pahath-Moab governments was to nationalize foreign properties that shut down. However a more serious set of closures took place recently: the collapse of Ohsung Petroleum and Globexian Resources. While Minister of Finance Count Lalery has stated his intent to nationalize the company properties and “keep pushing forward” the nation faces the regional oil crisis and nations like Adiron, Novitera, Tericio and other wealthy nations preferring to pay extra expenses to get out of region oil rather than buy from FODE. It could be for this reason that New Edom’s government has been pushing to get Reyes, the Arbiter Secretary-General of FODE, to step down. Reyes had remained in place beyond his tenure because of technicalities of procedure, has become a controversial figure and a divisive one in FODE because of the embargo against Adiron.
Dr. Marius Campion of the National Wisdom Party has written a recommendation to the Minister of Finance that was made available to the public, which said among other things:

I recommend to Your Excellency that (formerly foreign held properties) not directly related to natural resources or to industry which is concerned with national security should be considered for sale of lease to new foreign companies.
It may seem like this is an unnecessary risk, but I would like to suggest that what New Edom has to offer: trained workers in industry who are easily retrained to new tasks, inexpensive leases, and much greater government stability. It is normal to have shifts in the modern economy, and I believe that hose who embrace swift change will be more competitive.

This is a sharp contrast with the Intellectual Party ‘s position. Lucius Glaber has said that the country should reverse yet another Morality Act which supports the ancient law that no one who is not Edomite should own or sell Edomite land. “We can protect people’s rights and our culture without being so protectionist that we don’t get investment that is truly responsible to us.”

Meanwhile, workers from Kai Commercial House, Akai Motors and Circuit Center remain out of work, and are receiving charity from Church and State
"The three articles of Civil Service faith: it takes longer to do things quickly, it's far more expensive to do things cheaply, and it's more democratic to do things in secret." - Jim Hacker "Yes Minister"
