Senate may suspend Right of Heritage for Shalumite Germans
Among recent proposals in the Legislature against Jedoria and Shalum, a proposal to suspend the Right of Heritage for Shalumite Germans is currently under consideration by the Senate to be put to vote. If passed, the new legislation would suspend the Right and prevent Shalumite Germans from emigrating to Vyrsar and taking up citizenship through an advanced, sped up course. The Right has been a key principle of Vyrsarian-Shalumite relations since it was established in the early 20th Century.
If the law were to be passed, it would be an incredibly telling move by the Senate as to their opinion of the Shalumite actions in the conflict in Peregrino. While the Chancellor has the power to veto it, she had yet to comment on the proposed law.
The proposal is one of many that have been put on the Senate's docket since the Chancellor's speech last night, where she denounced the actions of Novitera, Jedoria, and Shalum and called for peaceful negotiations, going so far as to offer Vyrsar as a host for the negotiations and to act as a mediator between the belligerents.
