Nah throw some fire to it good sir. Ryan smiled broadly at the thought of a nice fat steak. Medium well please.

Robert turned his attention to Emperor Shelton. Of course you would not have to face them alone. We never leave our good friends alone. But why talk of war? We should instead be weighing how we can work with our new found friends in Capisaria.

Indeed.
Thomas says after drinking a little from the glass of soda. Why don't you tell us a bit more about your nation Minister?

"Me" asked Vugo. "I'd love to. My nation was founded after a fall of a nation much like Libertarian Governance in terms of it's economic system. The Federation fo Capiaria was more of a conglomerate of corporations that called themselves the government."

Thomas takes another sip of his drink while the Capisarian minister speaks shaking his head in agreement. I see what you mean. However, our government or economy doesn't really function like that.

Indeed. Robert adds. You should come visit Libertarian Governance. While we do have large corporations, very large corporations, they certainly don't run the government.

Our entire system is set up on the basic premise of providing the most freedom to the individual. A corporate controlled economy would not allow for such high levels of freedom because corporations or others would always seek to close off their markets. As far as politics and corporations go I think Robert would agree...
Thomas pauses just long enough to look over to his cousin then return his attention back to Vugo. That corporations have little to gain by tampering with politics. Except maybe as to actually ensuring economic freedom.

Thomas is right. Our government is so limited by the Constitution that it really can't benefit a corporation much. There are some things I suppose that can be done. Endorsements, opening doors so to speak. For instance I've been asked to mediate disputes between workers or protestors and companies before. But, that isn't like many quote capitalist nations where the force of law can be used to the benefit of those with deep pockets. Tyranny such a system would be. We'd revolt overnight against a corptocracy.

"Here-here."
Matthew agreed, raising his glass slightly and taking another drink.
Mel returned to Ryan's spot at the bar and set down a plate in front of him, a huge steak sitting on it with a fork, a steak knife and a packet of salt.
"Enjoy."
Mel grunted, drying a shot glass in stereotypical bar-keep fashion.

Grinning affably the teenager grabbed the salt packet and ripped it open before carefully adding just the right amount in a few well placed sprinkles. Then grabbing the fork and knife he begin to savor the meal he craved all night. After a few bites he reached for his napkin and dabbed at his lips. Excellent, simply excellent. Immediately Ryan went back to the task at hand. Which was finishing this superb culinary delight.

"I'm honored that Libertarians understand our old plight. While our government is certainly by no means small and limited, the people of our nation sought to ensure freedom by other means. After the new Government took power, and after a short reign of a Soviet-style president, I took power with 80% of the vote, although a recount I ordered after showed it may have been lower. Nonetheless, I wasn't impeached, and I have held a major role in the Government since."

He paused for a breath. Took a sip of his soda.

"Something I noticed a lot in your style of nation's is the fear that a big government is oppressive. A clause in our constitution has a mandate that anything, court decision, legislation, executive order, regulation, or repeal, is subject to be overturned if 60% of the nation wants it. I could be impeached in less than a week. I've been in some form of power for around 20 years, as president or prime minister."

"So are most Capisarians atheist?"
the Emperor asked, arching an eyebrow from a couple seats down the bar.
"I like to read about my allies' histories, especially recent. I understand that you attempted to ban all religious institutions outright and nearly succeeded did you not? I mean, yeah the referendum and all proved that the population felt you went too far but I would expect any Christian, Jew or possibly Muslim to try their dang'dest to get you out of office in favor of a religious politician at some point."
he commented, seemingly half-in the conversation and half-out.

Vugo chuckled at the Emperor.

"I admit that i tried to do that. I look around a lot and I see what happens when religion is in power. I see genocide, I see blind sightedness, I see corruption and hatred and closed minds. Rarely, do I see the religious people who are in power try to maintain peace for all, regardless of religion, race, or sexual orientation. I see the killing of homosexuals, I see women forced to give birth to the children of their rapists. The peace, love, and goodwill mentioned in the Koran, the bible, and Tanakh, is lost. I thought that the only way to prevent this from ever happening was to prevent the average person from practicing it. But i learned that the majority of people who identify with one of those religions aren't fundamentalist, and don't reject established logical truths, the age of the earth for instance, or if they do they don't try to force that belief down people's throats."

He paused for a breath. Took a sip of his soda. He ran out. "Can I get Mountain dew? Thx"

He looked back. "Where was I? Oh, right. Um hold on...Ah. While the religion ban was overturned, Parliament has been successful in passing laws regarding religion in politics. For instance, Religious Political parties may not hold National Positions. Although we do have one remaining Province in the Far Northwest that has a multi-faith party that has gained acceptance and may go to the Capisarian High Council to attmept to have the law overturned in a High-Suit."

The Emperor nodded along and Mel handed Vugo a Mountain Dew.
"Religious extremism can cause innumerable attrocities but a government that practices Common Law and recognizes the belief that there are certain rights granted by God to man that are inalienable in every way, those are usually just and effective governments. Many nations that practice Civil Law more than Common Law are fairly opressive in one way or another due to the fact their government becomes a God on its own."
he smiled a little,
"I won't let that happen as long as I'm still alive. I'll bleed on the flag if I have to, to make sure the Cross stays Crimson."
he stood up and yawned, stretching a bit.
"You gentlemen can pay for your own dang food and drinks. I'm gonna' head home. There's a certain young blonde woman waiting for me."
he said with wink.
"See ya Matt."
Mel called, waving a bit.
"Later Mel."
Matthew called over his shoulder, heading for the door.

"Well I'm just about done here" said Vugo, sucking back his Mt. Dew. "Hey Your Highness!" he yelled at Matt, jokingly. "Any clubs around here?"

"Ask Joseph."
Matthew called over his shoulder, the doors swinging shut behind him a moment later.
The 16 year old smirked and looked over at Jacques, the Strattons and company.
"You guys stick with me and you'll have plenty of fun tonight. You put on the Uniform around here and you're like a freakin' rock star."
he reached into the back pocket of his LDPCUs and pulled out his camouflage wallet, opening it and removing a stack of dark green Tiberium notes and setting them on the counter.
"Keep the change Lieutenant."
Joseph said, hopping off his seat and shoving the wallet back into his pocket.
The old B-52 pilot saluted casually and added the cash to the register.
