Background
Defeat followed by defeat had weakened the resolve of Neo Arcadia, from the poor and downtrodden that were evicted from their homes by war, to the soldier that tried vehemently to cling to the rubble he called home, right up to the senior branches of the government. Although not entirely broken, the Neo Arcadian military was in disarray. Unable to function as the highly disciplined fighting force it was known for around the world, the Neo Arcadian military was scattered and isolated, holding out in pockets around the nation as Northern Pact soldiers marched fervidly South.
With Neo Arcadia on the brink of ruin the remaining members of the Mercantile Entente and Alissia prepare to resurrect their fallen ally and grasp what is left of Neo Arcadia before the Northern Pack's coup de grace is dealt. Arkotania, despite its proximity to North Orus, pledged to intervene and restore order to the land. Alissian forces mobilized in order to form what was left of the Neo Arcadian military into a respectable fighting force once again and reciprocate the North's actions. The Beringian government had refused, multiple times, to enter the conflict seeing as it was a both a foreign and Northern Affair. But the advancing enemy forces and refugees pouring in through the Northern borders quickly led the Beringians to reconsider.
Present
The spirit of the Beringian people had been trotting along for some time unshaken and calm, jolly even, despite being consciously aware that war was swiftly advancing. However it didn't grant a strengthened resolve, instead it bread an air of overconfidence and malice. As if to match the recent swell in national pride and xenophobia the sky discarded its overcast cover and exuded a vibrant blue, the Duchess' colours. The Beringian people were ready for war, in their sense of the word, not the rest of the world's let alone the North's.
Neo Arcadia wouldn't be taken in a matter of weeks even if the pockets of Neo Arcadian resistance for stagnate the North's advance. The Beringian people's ignorance or voluntary blindness compelled by their hate would carry them far in both the right and wrong directions. And the effects of each path would be felt by Beringians for years, even Beringians that had not been born yet.
Captain Ardyss forcefully pushed through the crowd of refuges clad in blankets and rags, never meeting them in the eyes. His shoulders sweeping each feeble being out of the way as if he was parting the Red Sea. If the occasion arose where an Arcadian's eyes met the Captain's the Arcadian's dejected stare was met with Ardyss's equally blank and soldierly stare. However many times this happened he kept moving toward Colonel Fulton at the podium. Ardyss emerged from the crowd breathing a little easier as he walked up the stairs to the platform adorned with several blue, black, and white flags of the Grand Duchy as well a single war torn flag of Neo Arcadia at its highest point.
He met the Colonel with his eyes and saluted, drawing his right hand above his head, the Colonel responding with a lazy At ease. Ardyss started, "Processing of the newer refugees won't be possible, as they've mixed in with the ones already here," he swallowed and added, "We're expected to deploy soon, march North and bring glory to-" Fulton cut him off, "Right, dismissed."
