The Machine (Open PMT)

Postby Kapek » Sat Aug 29, 2009 7:37 am

This Island was once a paradise, its natural beauty only interrupted by the crystal white luxury apartments which dotted the golden coast. Now it was hell, a sky black with ashen cloud and the decaying ruins of life slowly swallowed by the dead or dying vegetation that wrapped itself around obscure monuments of an ancestral society. Now the only thing which pierced the sky was a terrifying monument of death, a spire wreathed in noxious purple flame which peaked just before the rapturous skies.

A thousand soulless silver eyes of a wretched spider like construct rested upon an innocuous spheroid presented before it. The machine slid long thin tendrils down the clear black orb, joined in unison by a rank of a hundred similar machines spaced out as if ornamenting the hub of a grand domed building. The machines rasped as they continued to interact with the innocent devices which began to cloud with a noxious purple gas, great pipes which fed into the spheres began to fill with the gas as it made its way deeper into the shadowy black dome.

Transmission #11438

---Proclamation of Intentions---

We are Kapek, our intentions are peaceful. We are in need of Titanium-Klaprium alloy, necessitating contact with life-forms. Contained within this transmission is information regarding Kapek, including a list of naturally occurring resources within our power to obtain and exchange for this resource. Further diplomatic contact is not necessitated though easily within our grasp to comprehend and aptly respond.

The Machines clawed and screached at the black orbs. "The Spire must not be destroyed." A single process enterring their hive mind in an instant. Suddenly focused, the Spire began to crawl with life. Emerging from crawl spaces blackened by shadows emerged a teeming swarm of insectoid machines, scuttling down the tower in a migratory pattern that would startle any biologist.

Out from the base of tower emerged these horrific creatures, introducing the chitter of life to a forest long dead. Simple Carrion watching as the Kapek horde slithered across the land, consuming the beasts as they jumped and rolled with fear of the machines. Finally they emerged at a large clearing, it was populated by machines long since powered down, their use no longer required, only in the case of such a situation that presented itself now to the Kapek. The spiders crawled over the machines pouring thmselves into vents well suited for their size. In a matter of seconds the clearing was buzzing with energy once more.

All over the Island the Military Infrastructure of the Machine was awakening from its long slumber. Along the coasts the Spiders swam into derelict vessels which too emerged from their rest. Whatever the threat Kraven presented the Kapek now had the means and position to respond accordingly.

To: Kapek
From: Spredronia

We are willing to send 500,000 soldiers to your island. Although you may be machines, forceful extraction of resources isn't something we take kindly to. You may become an essential world player in the future, so we are willing to protect you.

Prime Minister of Spredronia

PS: Our vehicles and soldiers will be painted in a color you can see but nobody else can. This allows you to tell who is friend and who is foe.

(OoC: Let's see Kapek and Kraven respond to this...)

As soon as the last transmission left the peak of the Spire it began once more to shift. Its stock empty of drones it now served only the purpose of directing the defence of Kapek. Large thick tendrils tore up from the bowels of the earth, dragging behind them tons of soil, rock and vegetation. In one fluid motion the Spire began to shrink, closing in upon itself telescopically until it was a rather wide ashen mound sat upon the earth, large trenches of disturbed earth cut open from the motion.

The Kapek Airfields roared with the sounds of violent machinery, the amassed fleet of VTOL's began to lift from their positions. They lifted into the hellish skies, taking a position which suited their tactics. Some hovering high, blatantly visible to all, especially RADAR. Some hovering so close to the ground it caused the jungle vegetation to sweat and warp with the heat from the engines. In a moment the black vessels shifted pattern, their hull melting from a soft pastel grey into a dark blackish blue which hid them against the miserable clouds of the sky, they were still visible to the keen eye or to advanced methods, their engines still producing that noticeable blue tinged flame but for all intents and purposes they were missing. Un-noticed the jets roared out of their base, some flying low under Radar and a minority rising above the clouds to pity the Kraven.

The last of the Spiders reached its nest, the last of the Vessels sat on the coast now cast against the dark seas with light and energy. The vents began closing, the lights vanishing, the hull smoothing out to a multitude of flat surfaces, designed to refract detection measures. Alongside it Submersibles began their own process of completion towards a goal, slowly disappearing beneath the waves. The Fleet began to move to its deployment, the design of this attack suitable to defend the Kapek.

(EDIT: Map of Kapek, Kraven, I'm assuming you're entiring from the South. Correct me if I'm wrong/this map changes your plans.)

The soothing mechanical voice spoke out once more. "Kings Gambit Accepted. Target their Carriers and HQ Vessels." To which the circle of machines began to manipulate the glowing noxious gas as it swirled through their globes, forming shapes and patterns, revealing a 3d overview of the increasingly large battlefield. The purple hue providing the only light source which struck against the silvered facade of the spider like machines casting grant shadows over the secure site.

The VTOL's, being instantly fed the satellite interpretation of the battlefield, turned suddenly, beautifully synchronising their manoeuvring as the cloud of fighters shot suddenly into the air, finding their enemy diving towards them. A brutal joust ensued, flame and gasses shooting off in speared tips either side of the engagement. The unfortunate few sacrificed for the good of the hive, their flaming carcasses descending to the flat dark blue seas below. Following the initial engagement the new orders of the hive broke, each craft splitting off into splinter groups which rallied to engage the enemy once more, taking their targets as they came.

The Fleet held its position, scattered about the territorial waters of Kapek. The enemy barrage rushing in from the horizon, instinctively the vessels began their countermeasures, a complex combination of jamming techniques, missile defence Lasers and the foresight to have evaded detection under thick cloud cover, not foolproof, this attack cost the destruction of some many of the small Kapek vessels. Their retort a moment later sent a parallel cloud of ballistics shooting back towards the enemy, their orders followed out, targets to be destroyed including HQ and Carriers.

The Kapek Submarines had advanced towards their given positions, encroaching on almost 40 kilometres from the enemy fleet. They began their own onslaught, firing an armada of heavyweight torpedoes at the skirting enemy before turning back to the coast ready for refuelling and to refresh their targets. A second wave of Submarines held their position just off the towering peaks of the Western Foothills, the dull grey stone cliff-face looking no less dull under the sea.

(OOC: No problem dude)

The constantly elusive Fleet kept its position changed following every engagement, firing missiles and then repositioning to fire the next salvo. The mutlitude of tiny vessels like pirhanas to the fleshy corpse of a wayward traveller, a thousand tiny bites nibbling at the supple raw meat of the enemy fleet. The enemy swatted against the nuisance sinking small sections to the amassed Fleet, poking tiny needle holes in the Kapek defence. The Submarines, faring less completely in the fruition of their processes, had began to fall back from the hefty Kraven response, if anything they could provide to the main onslaught pulling away the enemy forces into fools ambushes.

Over the fleets and wreathed in flame, the Kapek Air Force finding an equal opponent, for every snap action the Machine made the Kraven were there keeping up with the thousand processes a second of the Machine. Fighters had burst into flame, no shrieks for mercy as the cold soulless devices span uncontrolably into the tense surface of the ocean. The Kapek stayed resolute, air superiority being tantamount to total success.

"Identification: Kraven. Forces are moving closer to the Coast." The machine processed to itself, scanning the live images of the bloody battlefield. "Let them distract themselves upon land so that their waters shall flow red with blood."

The Forests were all but quiet from the onslaught which had disturbed the silence, only the gradual hum accentuated the forboding dead forest. The pitch increasing, its volume uncontrolably rising, a loud painful noise which carried through the air, it hid the crushing foot steps of the featureless humanoid creatures, silent behind the loud noise, hidden behind a reactive camouflage armour, they rested themselves hidden behind brown leaves and rotting flesh torn corpses, waiting for the Kraven to come.
