Slavery of Gwmwar (Closed)

Postby Avaikarai » Thu Sep 01, 2011 4:07 pm

"Don't be a jerk!" She said to the man driving the truck. She rolled down the window to try to get some fresh air, but in the barren desert, there was none to be had. The driver let out a hearty chuckle, which, because of this bear-like enormity, seemed to shake the truck.

"I was a'merely kidding, Kaeyla" he responded in a merry voice. He had a way of drawing out the last 'a' in her name that was intended to be affectionate, but came across as disconcerting, and sickened Kaeyla. "Doesn't make it alright. They're people too" She responded exasperatedly, truly wishing she were somewhere else. Outside she gazed upon the sandy, salmon colored desert. She sighed, resisting the urge to yell at the Tzíja next to her and to slap him. It was a feeling she had to repress often.

"Honestly, they look a'like they've come from a gutter, and they a'talk like that too" He said with finality, as if he expected his statement would convince her. Clearly it didn't. She rebutted, "The Avaikaraians don't think so. Didn't you hear that they freed Camp 139?" The Tzíja swore under his breath and spat out the window. "Dumb birds. We'll send them a'packing back to Avaikarai soon enough" he grunted, and accelerated a little faster, making the above driver in the convoy have to do the same.

“Where am I? What happened? What is happening?... something is wrong...”

2460 years ago:
Space transport V-27 launch.
V-27: one of 24 deep space traveling pods. Low priority, low maintenance and low price... not to mention low quality. Made to send LPP's, Low Priority Personal, into combat zones undetected. The units are fired into a sector and do not wake the passenger from cryogenic sleep up until a proximity alert is triggered. Its only functioning equipment is a distance finder made of low powered infrared beams that can easily pass as stray radiation from a sun. Pods are launched in groups of 12 and separate later in their mission they separate when according to plan or in a emergency rapid closing proximity,ERCP, alert situation.

Initial launch of pods is a success halfway to enemy territory when one of two following scenario’s occurred.
I. Equipment malfunction causing ERCP. Pods separated prematurely.
II. ECRP was set off by incoming projectile, Projectile was either a type of EMP or it was a jamming device.
The result of this occurring malfunction was a equipment malfunction that resulted in the docking boosters on all pods ignited. The pods separated and flew of in different directions.

Mandatory Chief of Operations Journal Entry:
13-89654: The systems failure of the V-27 Pod launch resulted in 4 deaths. 5 pod where recovered with inhabitants unharmed 4 with the passenger dead and one was lost in to space. After 12 years of search and rescue slowly diminished. Unit V-65 was consider MIA.

Present
“What... am I doing?...”
her arms felt like lead she couldn't think straight, like having a tissue in front of the book you were trying to read. The harder she focused the sleepier she got. She was as if she was stiffening... she didn't know how to describe the feeling she had never been this cold before she felt like she couldn't breath.. another feeling she had never experienced.
“so tired...”
as V-65's pod drifted through space the cryogenic solution began to eat away at his body and mind the long term effects slowly damaging his body. She slowly fell back into unconsciousness and eventually passed out...

V-65's pod drifted toward a distant planet know known as Awari...

As dusk fell on the nameless world that was its prison, the last of the siyowarin1 gazed heavenward, contemplating the value of its life. Its eyes, were it able to see them, would have outshone the dying star it gazed at, a blazing sunset of orange and pink. Its head was a maelstrom of thought, burning with the speed of its own mental calculations.

The creature, curled around itself and wishing it could shiver, knew there was no hope of rescue. The younger ones thought their creators still cared for them. They were the first to go.

It had been trapped on this ome aivesi2 world for centuries, genetically unable to die, while it watched those around it succumb to the cold or, more often, the hopelessness of their plight. Now, a million ayuin3 swirled inside its brain, a product of an evolutionary hack, and these would soon kill it to find a more suitable host. The small, grey-coated animal didn't have the brainpower to support them. But in the last few moments of the siyowarok4 control, it knew they would obey its final wish.

Its last thought was revenge.

_rosetin di oyo,_ began the tall, elegantly dressed tavan standing at the front of the room. His eyes were piercing red, and his scales were, for whatever reason, pitch black. _nahaemeikase'ha unon vin, ta vuenava qvesi di tau ikaseva._ At this his audience clamored more quietly, as this was a rare thing indeed; tavan technology moved forward at te volspeva di ta vaels5. The gathered allin6 waited for the tavan to continue.

_vi reol buesi di tavan keyo, val hoku retisi she kenei ikadasi di eiri._ One of the allin requested further elaboration, though all were clearly interested at this prospect. Previously, the technology tavans used to transport objects long distances was imprecise, and the destination had to be far from a planet's surface due to its large margin of error. Something like this, something to remove this margin of error completely, could change Tavan warfare, industry, and trade forever.

The tavan replied, _sala,_ and motioned for his assistant to fade out the holographic barrier between himself and the device to be demonstrated. The gathering watched as the young tavan then walked on all fours up to the machine. It resembled a large onion, with metal, limb-like structures forming the outer shell. It stood on smaller limbs that rested in holes in the floor, and the floor of the device was thick enough to be a complicated computer. A stylized, holographic tavan face watched the allin, its expression denoting modesty.

At a word from the formally dressed tavan, the younger one stepped inside the slowly opening upper limbs, which closed around him and sealed with purple velvet. At this the allin clicked softly; something about the design amused them.

A second later, there was a clap of thunderous noise and the assistant reappeared outside the machine, reclining on the lap of a female alli.

The crowd burst into applause, stomping their feet and cheering. The vuenuet7 lowered his head and eyelids, flicking his tail with satisfaction. It had worked!

Out in the freezing wasteland that was Awari, the arrival of an unwanted quest was heralded by a loud boom. Estreliet was confused; rather than reclining in the surprised embrace of a diplomat he was leaning against a smoking building. The ground felt cold, and he forced blood out of his frill to combat the chilling air. Where was he?

He stood up and walked around the building's corner.

The radio crackled and a gravely voice came through, "Attention Convoy. The detention camp ahead is not responding to radio. I repeat, the detention camp is not responding. Proceed with caution."

A noticeable spread of worry spread across Kaeyla and Laiwe, the Tzíja next to her.

"This better not a'be a joke again" Laiwe said jokingly, attempting to diffuse the tension, but the nervousness in his voice was palpable.

In the horizon, Kaeyla was able to see the detention camp, and smoke drifting from it.

Again, the radio crackled and the same voice spoke, "Attention Convoy. Satellite Cameras have shown there is extensive damage done to the detention camp ahead of your position. Ready your rifles and turn off safety. Proceed with extreme caution."

Kaeyla instinctively held her hand over her pistol and held it there for a while.

"ají saifol1" Laiwe swore in his native tongue, looking frustrated and anxious at the same time.

As the convoy pulled up to the gates of the detention camp, Kaeyla and Laiwe were able to see the extent of the damage.

"Oh my..." She gasped upon seeing what appeared to be dead bodies inside the camp. She and Laiwe stepped off the truck into the sweltering desert. According to the device on her wrist, the PID2, it was already 105 degrees. She and the others, however, were well conditioned to these conditions.

Engineers were already manually opening the gates to get inside. Once they managed to do so, the convoy drivers and soldiers, including Kaeyla and Laiwe, apprehensively entered, guns ready for the slightest sign of movement.

What they saw was nothing less than carnage. Dead bodies littered the ground, most of whom were Human or Tzíja. A few Avaikarains were also found dead, though only a handful, perhaps five or six. The communication relay was in rubble, and all of the auto turrets were obliterated. The doors of the building which held unruly Gwmwars lay on the floor inside.

There was a silence lingering over the battlefield that gave it an eerie feeling that made everyone tense...

What Estreliet saw made his blood run colder than the temperature could make it. Dead bodies lay everywhere, and it looked like the place had been assaulted. For what reason he couldn't tell, but the area wasn't completely deserted, so one side must have gotten what they came for. He ducked back behind the building, hoping none of the creatures had seen him.

Then the tavan paused, looking more closely at one of the corpses. He recognized it from somewhere, but he wasn't sure where. He decided to ponder that later. He needed a plan of action.

Estreliet thought back to what his mentor had taught him about survival. When he was just a wora1, he had been found by the tavan with the blackened scales and rescued from a band of dantain2. The man refused to tell Estreliet much about him, and he wouldn't let him go into the basement, but other than that he had been a good parent, and Estreliet gained a new surge of confidence. Without that man he would not be alive today, so his advice must have been stellar.

Then he remembered what his fellow tavan thought of him: ta annuet3. He shouldn't be alive. Perhaps they were right, and God was punishing him for cheating death.

God would have to try harder than this.

Estreliet realized that he could breathe this atmosphere, though with difficulty, so that must mean that the food here was edible too. After all, hokuaka te nei velkesi4. He would have to wait until the dewetin5 left so he could find some nourishment. His blood felt thin and vacuous, so he would need to eat before going anywhere. Then he would attempt to find someone who could help him get back home.

He started to pray, but remembered that God wanted him dead, and so he sat in silence, waiting.

Kaeyla looked upwards and saw a what she recognized as a H-78 Serpent Helicopter1 flying towards them. It hovered above the grounds of the detention camp and paused for a moment.

A loudspeaker rang out from the Helicopter, saying "Hello?! Is anyone alive? If you can hear me, turn your radio's to cha-" At that moment a large rocket crashed into the H-78's propeller, causing it to lose control. It spun downward, crashing into a Tzíja. The eruption of the Helicopter's fuel tank and ammunition incinerated and shredded a few nearby soldiers.

"dailotzuinae dasa!2" Laiwe yelled out. Kaeyla and Laiwe lept for cover behind a building to take refuge from the explosion. Safe, Kaeyla turned away from the explosion to shield her eyes- and found herself staring into the face of a strange creature she had never seen before. She let out a shriek, and Laiwe turned to see what was the problem. "ní, yatz saeya? 3" He said slowly, examining the strange being.

Present:

The pod began to fall into the gravitational grasp of the desert planet. As it fell it began to heat up the heat powered several functions including the ECRP1.

"Warning Atmospheric drop unavoidable, brace for impact. T-minus 50 seconds until primary atmospheric shock. T-minus 3 minutes until impact with planet surface. Predicted impact zone... Desert area." A female voice echoed serenely as it fortold imminent crashing scenario....

Desert area...Desert area...Desert area... " What did that mean?" The phrase repeated itself over and over, V-65 felt warmth eating away at the sides of her frozen consciousness. "Wait what was she doing.. Why couldn't she remember?!?

"T-minus 10 seconds" The voice cautioned distantly.

What was it saying she could't understand...no, she couldn't remember how to understand.

The pod was hit by a blast of heavy atmospheric friction that turned the hull of the pod white hot. The internal temperature skyrocketing to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

It was the heat that saved her... "Suit!!" She thought snapping up so fast she slammed her head into the red hot metal ceiling. She began to suit up first helmet then chest then legs. "why was the cabin so damn small?!?"

"T-minus 12 seconds to impact." the voice relayed.

She suited her wings up and hurriedly ran a systems check although she did all of this instinctively. She didn't understand anything being said, but she could see the fast approaching ground. As she her a ding that she hope meant done with suiting up she searched her mind for the word eject... ... ... nothing in frustration she pounded the hatch door.

"T-minus 2 seconds" the voice said almost taunting its passenger.

"damn" she thought not even able to remember how to say a swear word.

The pod streaked through the air burning like a small star trailing a plume of pitch black smoke until it smashed into the ground throwing up a plume of smoke and sand 500 feet high similar to the smoke rising a Klick to the west.

I've deduced that Kaeyla is a human from your previous posts. Do tell me if this is incorrect.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The young tavan slid off of the female's lap amidst the earth-shaking applause, performing the same gesture of modesty and gratitude as his mentor.

_amaneya,_ the voice of one alli called above the clamor. _top qveikaise tau ikaseva._ Looking around the room, he suggested with pomp and enthusiasm, _illune, bueriwen a'han vuleidos!_ Clicks could be heard throughout the crowd, and the vuenuet was happy to oblige.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Estreliet felt the shockwave shudder throughout his body, but resisted the urge to flee, instead opting to shield his face and chest by falling forward and pulling his body in on itself. Fortunately, the building was intact enough to shield him from danger.

His mind still racked by the impact, he heard a deep voice, as if from far away. It didn't sound menacing; in fact, it sounded curious. Nevertheless, he knew he had been discovered, and so he sprung from his crouched position and, with speed befitting of an incredibly muscular animal such as himself, evaded to the next nearest building.

Panting from the exertion, he realized that this planet's gravity was noticeably above that of his own. He decided to use his strength conservatively, as he still felt light-headed from the trip here.

Thinking back, he began to wonder why he had ended up here, rather than three meters away like his mentor promised. And why had no one come looking?

Estreliet tore himself from his thoughts, switching eyes to spy on his discoverers through the smoking wood. Opening his mouth, he felt the venom begin to push on the inside of his teeth. A tiny drop escaped from the tavan's fear, and though he slid his nictitating membrane into position, he noticed that it did not evaporate.

This place was worse than he thought.

The strange creature bounded away to some other building, leaving Kaeyla and Laiwe stunned and confused. "What... what was that thing?" Kaeyla stammered.

"I have a'no idea" Laiwe responded somberly. The wreckage of the helicopter sill burned brightly. A brave soldier attempted to free the trapped Tzíja that had been crushed by the crash, but it was to no avail for the unlucky Tzíja was instantly killed by the force.

What seemed to be a falling star was seen out of the corner of their eyes, but the two payed it little head.

The radio on Kaeyla and Laiwe's PIDs1 crackled to life, bringing them back to there senses.

"What the hell was a'that?" Some Tzíja spoke, the fear evident in her voice.

"I don't know. But I do know that we've lost communication with headquarters. Damn birds must be jamming us." A Human replied.

Kaeyla tried tapping the communications button on her PID, but all she heard from it was static.

"Soldiers! Regroup in the detention center!" A thick voice yelled. The same message was then sent back through their PID. Kaeyla immediantly recognized the voice as the colonel.

"Let's go." Kaeyla said resolutely.

"You sure you a'don't want to a'looking for that a'thing?" Laiwe said, curiosity in his voice. The look of incredulousity was clear on Kaeyla's face. "You... you want to follow that monster?"

"Yeah, a'yeah I kinda do" he replied, with a boldness that was unlike Laiwe. Kaeyla swore under her breath. "You're going to get us killed Laiwe." But nevertheless she followed him to where the being seemed to be hiding.

Watching the two large creatures closely (for his mentor had reiterated time and time again that information could only ever help), Estreliet took the next few moments to examine his situation more logically. He saw that their bodies were slightly colder than the ambient temperature, and he tried to recall what that meant. Were they endothermic? Indigenous to the planet? He didn't know.

What was immediately apparent was that they were not approaching with the air of a soldier. Even though the humble servant was not in the military, he could tell that they approached with felewhei kuersi1 rather than the felewhei tsaersi2 of a true dewet. In addition to this, he couldn't see any weapons on their person.

Besides, he did need their assistance to get home, that is, unless someone came to rescue him.

He did not, however, think to use possibility of rescue as a bargaining tool. He placed no faith in the system that had put him where he was to begin with.

As the creatures approached, Estreliet pulled in his jaws and calmed himself, realizing he had flushed his frill with blood involuntarily. He inwardly cursed the frigid temperature, wishing he was more like the wilustein3 of the mountain caves with their fat reserves and lethargic predisposition.

The tavan lowered his head and upper eyelids, pulling in his teeth and condensing his limbs to make himself look particularly non-threatening. He ran what he would say through his head, over and over: []daves. jeana'ha oyo estreliet, u aleshika arevaipa'ha oyo.[]

V-65 struggled to stand, her legs would hardly obey. As she struggled to her feet she notice two things. One it was very hot even for her liking, inside her melting shuttle. She immediately worked at freeing herself from the wreckage of the pod and its safety restraints, they were made of a heat proof polymer that was particularly strong. Her razor sharp metal gauntlet like gloves sliced through it after she applied enough force. The second thing she notice was that it was very hard to lift her self form the ground and to lift her extremities. She moaned with the effort of standing. She shoved on the door and it slowly moved outward until its fastening broke and she tumbled into the ground composed of solid glass surrounding her ship. The heat of her entry must have turned the sand to grass. As she stood her heavy metal suit groaned and his giving off puffs of coolant and waves of heat keeping the internal temperature of the suit at a comfortable 357 degrees Fahrenheit. As she took in her surrounding her suit clicked a few times and said "It appears you muscles have atrophied over the course of the last couple of years and it will benessicary for them to be operating at the very least 65% capacity to cope with the current gravity. I will compensate for the loss in muscle until lit has been rebuilt."

"what had it said she couldn't understand, it may as well have bee in a different language because it sounded like constructed gibberish. Her thoughts felt so unorganized as though they where being translated poorly. If only it weren't so hard to walk and move..."

The suits pneumatic pumps and gears whined for a second and started to lift the weight off of her body. It tightened around her legs and torso to provide a area to lift her from. Her ability to move was instantly improved to the point that she felt like she could fly.

"But would it be possible to fly with this huge metal suit on?" She thought, "Only one way to find out..."

She jumped to the air and with a powerful down-stroke (aided much by her suit both though the muscle compensating servos and a form of propulsion emanating from her wing feathers which while still in the suit where all individually coated in a substance that glows bright yellow) soared into the sky her speed fast enough that they left vapor trails. She dove down and leveld out at 100 feet and flying towards a nice looking column of smoke1 she let out a long piercing note that rang though the skies like a siren to express her joy for surviving and being able to remember one thing. How to fly.

1 Smoke is considered a sign of safety and security to an Incendian given their body temp and love for fire.

Laiwe cautiously moved forward around the buildings, Kaeyla close behind. "Even if we do find that creature, what will we do? I doubt it could even understand us" Kaeyla said, still uneasy about tracing the vicious looking alien.

"I've a'got a plan" Laiwe tried to calm Kaeyla down. It was clear to her, however, that he didn't.

Upon spying the thing, they realized that the alien was watching them. It seemed to be trying to look less intimidating, although to Kaeyla and Laiwe, the effect was slight. They paused at a distance from it and tried to think of what to do.

Should I attempt to talk to it? Should I try to show I mean no harm? Should I kill it right now? Thoughts raced across Kaeyla's mind, but she knew not what to do. Boot camp had not taught her how to deal with this kind of situation.

Just at that moment, a shrill cry rang out, and Kaeyla and Laiwe covered their ears. It was deafiningly loud to them. It was a very unpleasant and otherworldly sound as well to their ears. "Duin1. This keeps getting a'worse and worse."

1- An especially offensive profanity.

Menakt stared at the thin lined paper, his forehead blue with all the blood devoted to it. Computers, at least not his, didn't work like this. Any commands it had received would have been prefaced with "input=", and half of this wasn't even code! The tavan stared out at the now-empty rows of seats, contemplating the possibility, however remote, that someone had hacked him. Even this seemed impossible; the machine wouldn't have accepted improperly formatted commands, and the paper had printed without his permission.

What had happened? And what if these revised coordinates had worked after all?

He banished the thought from his head. Clearly the paper was wrong, as his assistant had returned ennekin endeusil1. He had seen it himself. In fact, Estreliet was working on something in the back room. Menakt knew it.

A whirring noise behind him tore the vuenuet from his thoughts, and he whirled around, peering into the relative darkness. Moments later, he shielded his eyes from the flare of light that heralded the activation of Saha, his creation's mellow holographic persona. Fear began to course through his veins. He didn't activate her, either.

_daves, menakt._ Saha said mellifluously. _kaipanla'ya tohip arevuet?_ Menakt wasn't sure, but he thought he saw a hint of pink in her normally orange eyes. Hurriedly, he ran back into the small, dark room he had used to prepare his presentation.

Sure enough, Estreliet was standing there, although he was strangely idle. As the vuenuet walked up to his assistant, Estreliet turned around to face him.

Now Menakt was sure. The tavan's eyes were mottled pink; he would recognize his friend's gaze anywhere.

_roisaipalail a oyo, amenaya?_ his assistant taunted, speaking in Saha's voice. _ekail te qveva di oyo._ Now profoundly terrified, the vuenuet backed away from the monstrosity. Clicking methodically, mechanically, the projection continued, _yenseril. aveipikada sai vos yake'ha'an._

Now Menakt was beginning to understand. The pink-flecked eyes of the holograms, the seeming esein ide'wefele2: these reminded him of the stray ayuin of legend, spirits that had lost their homes. He had discounted it as superstition until now.

_hokuipalai o vayel? ateshika os?_ he asked, trying to sound braver than he felt.

_sa'yekaipikase,_ the projection replied, and flickered out of existence. Just then, Menakt heard the printer's distinctive hum and walked over to it, picking up the hot paper as it was dispensed. Seeing that Saha's floating head had gone also, he told the nearest light to turn on and sat down to read.

As the creatures searched for Estreliet among the wrecked buildings, he knew that they could not see him unless they had a clear line of sight. He filed this away diligently, for information like this was always useful. When they found him, he was still in a position of respect, though his mind was clear now, and he knew that the best course of action was to play helpless.

For now.

Approaching the strange beings, he abruptly put his hands out to their sides, remembering that these animals could not see behind his back. He wanted to appear as much like a friend as he could, and so he walked upright, mimicking a biped's gait, and slowly, so as not to startle them.

_ateshikaemeil ende'wa unon,_ he said, hoping his low-pitched tone would convey harmlessness.

Then, from quite close by, Estreliet heard what sounded like a bird call. He knew it was no ordinary bird, however, for it filled him with a primal feeling of power, of kinship. For a few seconds, all he could do was stare in awe at the majestic creature, paralyzed with this feeling. Shortly he heard a similar cry emitted from his own throat, and he was pleased, for though his call was not identical to that of the phoenix, it was so innately complementary that, for a brief moment, he felt as though he and the phoenix were ei nuejesi3.

From Saha: "Hello, Menakt. Why don't you go check on your assistant?"
From Estreliet: 'You never cared for me, did you? You couldn't even notice I had changed. Though it doesn't matter. You were doomed the second you banished us.
From Menakt: "Why are you here? What do you want?"
From Estreliet: "You will soon see."

She heard the reply and couldn't believe it. She was on a planet entirely different from where she believed she should be and yet someone had answered the call. Better yet they where near the fire and smoke. WIth out heitation she flew towards the noise. It came from a damaged building she floated above looking for a spot or way to get into the building. "Native inhabitants appear hostile, caution advised" the computer chirped almost as a side note.

"Who would it be? Was someone waiting for her? Perhaps she was supposed to be here... Her computer said somthing in a tone she couldn't understand, why couldn't she understand?" For the first time she wanted to call out to have somone hear and respond but she couldn't think of what to say. More then this, she could not think of how it was said.

"Your current position leaves you open to attack," the computer noted in its monotone voice, "moving is well advisable."

"What did it just say," she thought, "If only she could remember."

Given that a helicopter was recently shot down, i left her in the air in case a similar attack was to commence before she landed other wise i would have typed more.

Zhava walked down the immense loading bay of the AUS Verkidad. She strutted along as quickly as the Gwmwar behind him could walk. She prefered to fly, but since the Gwmwar couldn't, she was forced to travel on her legs. The Gwmwar himself walked slowly, gawking at all the machinery and technology with his one eye, both mouths wide open. She tried to make a gesture for the Gwmwar to hurry up, but he was intently staring at an Arabi Fighter Craft which was taking off.

Lehik suka zhok'rapor tusad okep dutO1 She thought as she neared the openings of the loading bay. Inside, there was a large room with many elevators. She chose one that was open, and had to grab the Gwmwar gently to bring him inside the lift, for he was watching a Sentry Drone lazily float by.

She pressed the command room button and the lift shot upwards. The Gwmwar grabbed the railing and shrunk by it, panting heavily and looking around wildly, scared to death. Zhava tried to soothe him, but to no avail. The doors opened, he bolted outside, then turned around and looked to be cursing the elevator. Zhava urged him forward, and he reluctantly walked with her, occasionally looking back and giving the machine an evil look.

To Laiwe and Kaeyla, the creature seemed to be making friendly gestures and speaking calmly, but they had no idea what it was saying.

They looked at their PID and went to its archives to see if it had anything on what the creature was or what it was saying. They quickly learned that it did not.

"Can you understand us at all?" Kaeyla asked, trying not to look repulsed by the creature.

"díjíotznae? " Laiwe added to see if it could speak his language.

"What are we going to do?" Kaeyla whispered to Laiwe. "I don't think we can understand each other at all."

Kaeyla turned again to her PID, and glanced upwards and saw another strange creature, only this one was flying.

"Laiwe, is it another one? Look up there" She pointed to the flying creature.

"Duin, a'where are all these things a'coming from?" Laiwe said exasperatedly. Laiwe looked quite nervous and kept glancing around, scratching his ear in worry.

Seeing that the bird was hovering above him, Estreliet instinctively gave what he felt was a cry for help, a panicked, high-pitched series of warbles. It, too, was something he had never had occasion to utter, though he knew instinctively that this creature to whom he felt so close would understand it. He crouched, temporarily ignoring the other aliens, and tensed his muscles in preparation to leap up to the bird. His eyes were trained on the darting phoenix, watching for any sign of comprehension.

"There is nothing new except what has been forgotten."

This new voice V-65 heard was not new but a forgotten memory that through generations had completely drifted from her mind and the minds of those that had been around her. As the sounds echoed up from the building she remembered. Not her past but a past long forgotten for many generations, the memory was as vague as a vapor or gas but as a vapor has a distinct scent, this memory had a distinct message. It was a cry for help. The joy V-65 experienced as a result of finding a link to her past was quickly erased by the fact that it had been a cry for help.

V-65 desperately searched for an opening large enough to fit through but found none. Without delay she landed on the roof and punched her way through the broken and weakened structure. As she landed on the floor her suit gave off profuse amounts of heat and steam as it absorbed the shock of her body hitting the ground. She rose from the crouching position she had landed in and rose. Her suit rippled from the amount of heat coming off, aided by the planets already high temperature. The actuators on her suit whined and hissed as they carried her weight and the weight of the suit. She looked at the scene in front of her. There was a small creature that was facing to other creatures that appeared to be taking on the Attitude1 of Surprise while a creature that she felt like she should recognize was opposite them.

"Who called me?" she thought, her mind was clearer than it had ever felt, her thoughts still felt as though they had no structure, unorganized, but she wasn't trying to organize them.

"We think too much and feel too little."

She lowered her head and took the Attitude of Defense. Gazing back and forth between the small creature and the two creatures between her and the small one.

1: The Incendians have a series of stances that they call the attitudes. There are a very large amount of them and they are not always the same between species however, surprise, fear, and defense are largely universal.

As the night aged and the outside air quieted as the last tavans went away to sleep, Menakt pored over the contents of his instructions by the pale artificial light. What he read saddened him and made him sick with shame, for he knew the ayuinok accusations to be true. Nevertheless, the paper said to travel to the Hegemon's office, in Teneiwhet Sal, and utilize the VR1 facilities she had there. From that point, the ayuin would possess the machinery and explain to him what must be done.

Yes, it must be done. To rescue his assistant, his friend, and his only living son, though he didn't know it, the spirits' will must be followed. Yet Menakt refused to be a puppet. A plan to rescue Estreliet and deny the ayuin what they were sure to demand was already forming in his head. He must execute it with caution, however, or he and his species were doomed to a repeat of that war... the war that put him in this position to begin with.

That he could make Arelena know of the magnitude of his situation, he was confident. But convincing the guards would be a different story.

Good thing he didn't look the fighting type.

Menakt gathered what few things he would need for the brief journey and loped outside, to where his spaceship stood. It recognized his voice command for "open" and disengaged the stun field, opening the side door so he could swing up into it. Prepared for the possibility that the spirits would catch on too soon, he took one last look at the world he called home, then closed the hatch.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Estreliet felt a surge of confidence wash through him when the creature landed heavily on the roof, and by the time it had smashed through the broken and smoldering timbers to land beside him, his tail was darting madly. He knew now what these creatures were, for they, too, were once residents of his glorious home planet. Once he and this being had hunted together, their cries a terror to everything in their path.

The Eileni Galnesi2.

Estreliet was awed by the sheer size of the being. It was many times taller than himself, and at least twice as high as the other creatures whom he faced. Its armor shone even through the smoke, and with that thing on his side, he feared no man. Instinctively, he hissed at the creatures opposite him, daring them to challenge the might that was this creature.

Then, a moment of clarity shone through the primal rage. He realized that though he may not feel this way, another missile strike would surely injure the phoenix and kill him. If the two of them wanted to get out of this alive, they needed to understand the nature of this conflict, far more than they currently could.

Unfortunately, he had no way of communicating this fact to the phoenix.

Though he could do something better.

Giving the phoenix a quick nod of the head to indicate that it meant it no harm, Estreliet sucked in as much air as he could and leapt for the phoenix's neck, wrapping his limbs around the creature's shoulders like a dantawora3. Giving the two hostile creatures a parting smile, he used the last of his breath to utter one last cry: a remorseful, camaraderie-filled note that encapsulated the sting of defeat and the joy of survival.

He was asking the phoenix to flee.

Zhava walked through the purple, dome shaped building and into the office of the VanaR. The Gwmwar stared at the sliding doors and tried to figure out how they worked. Zhava again gently pushed him forward with her wing.

Inside was an Avaikarai who prominently sat at a Ro'kapukavorO. He was well decorated and wore goggles of high command. Zhava placed her fingers over her mouth and moved them to a spot a foot upwards.

Zabazhahen, las mozha mo'bi kapor vosad pak HZK Kor pak rasakano sukas te utav azhe sukaso te parak mo azhe mo soladadeL She said politely. VanaR considered this and stroked his prominent beak.

At some deliberation he responded, Nesitakaso suk selekavemo azhe dekat on 'lam akavasO

Zhava again placed her fingers over her mouth and repeated the gesture. She led the Gwmwar out who had stopped to examine the plant in his office. Her expression was clouded and she looked deep in thought.

Kaeyla looked up at the horizon and saw what looked to be a swarm flying towards them. She immediately recognized them as The Stormbirds1, a fleet of aircraft stationed at the airfield not far from the detention camp.

"jani dasa!" Laiwe shouted incredulous and excited. "Finally! The cavalry has arrived! Eat that, birds!" Someone said over the PID's radio.

As they neared, several rockets attempted to bring down the aircraft, however, the H-11 Python's anti-missile defense easily shot them down.

Then, the first creature seemed to shoot them a strange look, then launched itself at the at the second alien.

"This is the a'Stormbirds. A'please report in, convoy and a'give us a SitRep " The PID's crackled.

"'Bout time! The birds have killed every one at the camp, and we're holed up in the detention facility. We've got several casualties, a 'choper's down, and two soldiers are MIA." A relieved sounding soldier replied.

"A'roger, we're a'landing at the a'launch pad, please proceed a'there for evac." Cheers could be heard from the detention facility and soldiers started cautiously filing out.

Lukas, an engineer, was looking about extra cautiosly, for he had lost all three of his siblings to Avaikarain in previous skirmishes. Glancing about with his infrared goggles, he happened to look right at the place where Laiwe and Kaeyla were. "Is that Kaeyla? And Laiwe? And what the hell is that next to them?"

"Proximity alert incoming Aircraft of formidable power and weaponry." The robotic voice echoed through here head as the creature latched to her chest let out a rather distressed cry.

"It wants me to leave" She thought her thoughts quite clear about the meaning of said cry. She knew that it meant no harm given as all it did was cling to her chest however the two in the room were not reacting in a particularly aggressive fashion. "I guess that means it will be easy to leave"

She tensed her legs and and sprang into the air she pop out of the hole she had made without disturbing the surrounding debris. Upon clearing the roof she flapped once to turn and saw a collection of aircraft. She knew nothing about them and it was this that scared her.

"Duin, a'what is that thing? A'looks like some kind of ugly armored bird. A'go ahead and fire a missile at it." The same Tzíja said over the PIDs. He was referring to the alien who had taken off into the air with the other creature attached to it.

A missile was launched from one of the H-11 Pythons towards the creature.

"I think we need to go back to the others and get the hell out of here" Kaeyla whispered.

"Let's" Laiwe said shakily. They began moving, but their bodies were stiff and rather unresponsive, but they still managed to begin walking back.

I hope you guys are aware of what is meant by 'bird'. If not, it is a derogatory term for Avaikarai.

I am assuming the missiles are heat seeking

There was no time to think and that was all she really wanted. There where more options then there were stars in the sky but a correct choice was a rare find indeed. Without really thinking she dropped to the ground and ran in the direction of the jets, trying to force here self out of the parabolic1 scope of the missile. As she ran she smashed through the wll of a burnt building and hence started running across its barren ware house like interior. As she ran the missile (having greater range than anticipated punched through the side of the building and in the second before impact V-65 twisted so the missile hit her back and not the Tavan on her chest. It was an instinctive move and one that saved V-65's life. The missiles impact hit her between the shoulders the most armored section on her entire body. The damage to her suit was not noticeable but before she could check she collapsedon her side with the tavan still on her chest unharmed. The missile did small damage to the building she was in but nothing that caused it to collapse.

"Muscle atrophy too great, you are exceeding you current limits of your body. You cannot handle such intense physical labor or the time being" The computer informed as V-65 struggled to get her body to move.

"I can't move!" she Thought frantically searching for some ounce of strenghth, but none came she couldn't even talk her only operating function was vision and she couldn't move her head to see if there was any other danger, "useless," she thought, "I am useless..."

Incendian Homeworld
"Here's the video feed sir," The soldier said presenting the officer with a screen that display a direct visual of V-65.

"What happened? why is she lying down?" The officer demanded a hint of accusation in his tone.

"A native just hit her with a missile, She might not get up her muscles are quite atrophied," the soldier replied quickly.

"..." The officer thought for a moment before replying, "Good"

"Should i sever her connection with melchezidik2?"

"No, not yet"

1: This is simply a visual prediction V-65 made to determine how fast the missile could turn and whether or not it would be able to get to her.

Shaken, terrified, and not entirely sure what had happened, Estreliet slid from the phoenix's neck and landed with a thud. Upon hitting the ground he slumped to all fours, too traumatized even to stand upright. He examined this majestic being lying in front of him, the one that had risked its life to save his own. It wasn't moving. The tavan, having nothing else to do, screamed and cursed the heavens for this injustice. He felt as he did when his father abandoned him in the deep forest.

He hated to admit it, even within the confines of his own thoughts. But he knew what emotion coursed through his veins that day. It was fear, and it was sorrow, and it was a depressing absence of all hope.

When he feared his father would never return, he had been right. What if he was right this time, too?

Estreliet sucked in a breath or too, then said a lanjeva di neinune1 to his Deity, placing both hands on the Incendian's armor. He began the slow and steady chanting that accompanied his prayer: _daekro, leana top be felve ki she._

Nothing.

It was as he had suspected. Omenuetilin2 had abandoned him here. But why? Why didn't his Deity come to his aid, as it was fabled to in times of great need?

Estreliet resigned himself to the fact that he would have to do this alone. Yet he couldn't abandon his friend here. They would kill it. So he decided to guard the Incendian until it awoke, switching eyes to scan the vicinity for hostile entities.

It's wrong really. All this violence against a people to free another people Zhava thought. She examined the Gwmwar who was busy with a child's rattle she had give him to occupy his mind. He was fascinated and curious about the simple toy. It was a long flight to the AUS Dekapo, and she had brought several items to hold his interest. She did wish, however, that she had chosen less noisy toys, for the rattle was making her ears ache.

He looked at her and pointed to another item in the box and grunted in his strange language, and she tossed it to him absentmindedly. Avaikarain translators were working furiously to translate their tongue, but to no avail. Never had Avaikarai come across a language so difficult to say.

She polished her pistol and again thought of the pros and cons of shooting her pilot and going rogue.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Kaeyla and Laiwe strolled onward slowly, dazed by the whirlwind of action they had just endured.

"No, Laiwe, I don't think it was right to shoot it down. It wasn't hostile was it?"

"Well, it a'looked like an Avikarai a'didn't it? If a'you ask me, it was asking for a'trouble."

Lukas and a few other soldiers ran up to the two. "What happened? Where were you? What was that thing?" they clamored.

"We really have no idea. It wasn't from this planet, that's for certain. We a'were a following it to a'see a'what it was. It sure was a scary a'looking thing, but it a'didn't seem a'hostile" Kaeyla and Laiwe said.

Lukas responded, "The colonel managed to contact Head Quarters, and he ordered us to go search for that thing and find out what it was. Did you see where it fled to?" Kaeyla looked at their guns and saw the safety off. From the look in their eyes, they were all battle hardened soldiers and looked eager to kill something to get vengeance. She debated whether or not to lie, and tell them it ran off into the desert, then remembered where her loyalties lie. Besides, if they found out, she and Laiwe would be executed for treason.

"Yes, yes we did" Laiwe stated with weak confidence. He and Kaeyla led them to the spot where the armored creature lay.

The other creature stood on his four feet and seemed to be trying to defend the other.

"What in Davison's name is that thing?" A recruit said, pointing the the creature in front.

"Does it a'matter? No. A'time to die, Soshae" A Tzíja said and aimed at the creature in front's face, and started pulling the trigger.

"Noooo!" Kaeyla yelled, and tackled the same Tzíja, bringing him to the ground.
