Declaration of War

We Hereby officially declare war on the nation known commonly as Aquitayne for the following reasons:
1- Standing up to the state.
2- Refusing the orders of the superior state.
3- Embargoing the slave trade.
4- Expansion purposes.
5- Cleansing of the unclean and unworthy from this planet.

Thank you for your attention.

"All across Underium this communique was broadcast, and all across the world. Underium was in a uproar for the people were well sensitized to war and grew over their lives to crave it with the enemies of the state. It was inevitable, for Underium has been inactive for to long, and we have grown. We have grown both physically and mentally. And this nation has offended us. For this they shall be brushed aside like dirt, and we shall repave their land, and kill the men who do not deserve to live! Today we tell you, the people of this vile enemy nation to rise up, if you do, you will be rewarded with fame, fortune, glory, and safety all residing within the superior state, join us and help us wipe this dust from the face of the planet!!!"

The speech finished and the women in a trenchcoat with a white mask walked back inside the building leaving the crowd amped up in the square of Victory before the Palace.

All across Underium thousands of airplanes, ships, soldiers, and vehicles were all being prepared for launch, and the satellites were already arranging themselves over the enemy nation for intelligence.

News of war with Underium was quickly spreading throughout the news systems. Many people were questioning Aquitayne's ability to defend itself from a power as large as Underium, but the President assured them, "Regardless of Underium's size, the world is on our side, ladies and gentleman! Our allies in the Union of Epic Nations will assist us if we need it! We are not alone!". Aquitayne was ramping up it's military production by 60%. Unemployment rates were hitting rock bottom. People were gearing up for the worst that could happen. Beaches had been closed, and artillery was being placed in the event of an invasion.

The President was staying in Telora for the time being, but he was assuring the nation that they could fight this through. They did after all have the home advantage. Volunteers were streaming through the recruitment centers like never before, and the military was spending money on new equipment like there was no tomorrow. The nuclear defense systems were being deployed, as they knew of Underium's love to use WMD's. Everything was being prepped.

Aqutiaynian Orbital Command, (A.O.C) was tracking Underium satellites as they moved over the nation. Once they did, Strategic Command launched anti-satellite missiles, closing in on their targets within minutes of launch. Most of them struck their mark, destroying hundreds of millions of dollars in military equipment. They had practiced these maneuvers for years, and now that they were being tested on the combat field, they came through with flying colors.

OOC: Hey I'll let it slide this time, but next time dont tell me MY casualties ok? It's godmodding.

IC: Soon enough there were two extrmely large heat signatures in the water along with a sizable portion of the Underian military on the way over the ocean to the first island of http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/508/aquitayne.jpg/ Tyras.

The heat signatures soon disappeared deep under water. In reality they were monsters created for war. Super submarines that were larger then aircraft carriers. these were the only two in commision and it was basically a floating fortress.

OOC: Sorry, won't happen again.

IC:

"Sir, look at this." A Corporal was seeing two massive heat signatures in the water around the island. They were enormous. "What do you think it is?"

The Captain looked at it thoroughly and decisively. "Well, since we're at war, we have to assume that its enemy ships. Detonate the minefield." At the Captains orders, thousands of underwater mines detonated around the island. There was almost no way that anything could have escaped the massive explosion. After that, sorties were launched to protect the airspace around Tyras.

[Underium]

As the mines detonated they were completely ineffective due to the fleet still being out in the middle of the ocean. yet they were quickly approaching and would stop a good distance from the island. There they would send barrage upon barrage of artillery to the island.

[Aquitayne]

The men were being moved into the defensive structure of the island. There were caves upon caves in the Czyan Mountain Range and the Grien Mountain Range. It was a tactic they had learned from their old Japanese friends, and they had seen how effective it could be. They awaited the inevitable artillery strikes, they were ready with gas masks and biological weapons suits to protect them from any kind of outcome. When the planes ran out of fuel for their first sortie, they were grounded and instead placed in bunkers with accessible runways in case they were necessary.

[Izarius]

Admiral Neva of the People's Republic of Izarius was acting. 8 Kilo class submarines (with modifications by Izarius for improved stealth) were travelling to the oceans surrounding Aquitayne to help it defend itself. They would fire torpedos at any Underium vessels detected in the ocean.

Meanwhile, 500 Su-27s requested permission to land in Aquitayne airfields to help assist in the war.

As transmissions came in from mass amounts of Izarius planes requesting permission to land, ATC designated them to airforce bases all across the country. However, about 3/5ths of the planes were directed to bases that were within 100 miles of the coast, to help defend it in case of invasion. These planes would definitely help the war effort.

[The Republic of Lanos]

OOC: Permission obtained from the 2 major combatants. First my President will make a speech then, hours later, we start mobilizing.
IC:

Marina Arthuryan, even after seeing her husband being gunned down before her eyes, was determined to use war only to bring about freedom and if there was no other choice. It seems that this little squabble, between a large slave nation and a new anti-slave nation, was going to be much worse than intended. She was standing at the doors of the House chamber, ready to speak to the House, the Senate, the nation, and quite possibly the world. This would make or break that war between the extremes of a civil rights debate: slavery or freedom. Freedom over tyranny.

The Officer at Arms of the Congress: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, the Honorable President of the Republic of Lanos!"

She walked out into the chamber to thunderous applause. Everyone in the Congress was welcoming her to this historic moment. Or was it? Marina couldn't tell at the moment; she had to make this speech. She reached the podium, banged the gavel, and began:

"Ladies and Gentlement of the Congress, my fellow Lanosians, brothers and sisters, friends!

Today the Armed Republic of Aquitayne declared that it would ban slavery in its nation and, among other measures, would place an embargo against the nations that practice such an unspeakable crime. The Powerful Collective of Underium took offensive to such a move and decided to violate this nation's right to not only govern itself and trade amongst the nations that it chooses to trade among, Underium has decided to violate this nation's basic right to exist and has chosen to invade this nation and wishes to enslave its population!" *loud boos from the crowd* "But, my fellow Lanosians, we must step up to the challenge to defend Aquitayne. As set out in the preamble of our Constitution, we must be a defender of freedom to those wishing to seek it. This nation is outnumbered by this offender by itself, but other nations have stepped up to the call to defend Aquitayne. I ask my nation, our nation: will we defend Aquitayne in its time of need?"

*Loud shouts of YES!, thunderous applause.*

"Now I ask the Congress to declare war on the offender, to authorize the wartime draft, to allow for the usage of weapons of mass destruction, to allow the military the freedom of action during combat, and for our people to ready themselves to defend our nation if the war enters our lands. Will we stand up to this nation, or will we face our own doom if we do nothing? Thank you and God Bless our Independent Nation."

Marina left the chamber with a backdrop of more applause and patriotic cheers. Then it dawned on her. She would be the commander in chief of the military that would send young men to fight and die in a foreign land for their rights.

Hours later:
The Republic of Lanos Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps were sending a combined force of 10 million men to this fight. (5 million Army, 2 million Air Force, 2 million Navy and 1 million Marine) Thousands and thousands of transport planes and ships were being loaded with the men designated to go fight for freedom. They were joined by thousands of aircraft that would be attacking the enemy. It may take hours, even days, to reach the battlefield but the men were ready for it. This was their moment to shine in combat. This generation would be tested. Would they pass?

As Alizia watched the speech she smiled and stepped in front of the camera slowly raising her hands and adressing the nation of Lanos directly. she said clearly and loudly, "You are charismatic and charming, we have much power and would hate to destroy one that is so valuable, you could be our equal if you wanted, we urge you to reconsider. One last thing. We never claimed we would enslve our enemies. We said we would take their nation and any that didn't join us would be killed."

[Santheres]

It was one of the Santherese patrols through international waters that hit the Underium surface fleet first. They couldn't hit it hard, and they knew that, but they could still do something. While Santheres had not officially declared war on anybody, it also did not recognize the sovereignty of Underium, and therefore its military assets had free reign in how to treat such shipping.

The fleet's outermost elements were sighted via the CAP from the centerpiece of the battle group, a small carrier that held only thirty in its air wing. The AWACS support found it and promptly altered its patrol orbit to take it farther from potential danger, but keeping an eye on it in any case.

The battle group set course to close within the range of Stiletto missiles carried aboard several of its component ships. The group had a common makeup; five Malibu frigates, three Bartons, two Bacardis and of course the carrier. It could put out a good deal of missile fire, but was small and not meant for taking on entire fleets. That decided their tactics for them.

Once within range of the farthest reaching missiles, they fired, dozens streaking across the sky, hopefully before the Underium fleet even really noticed.

Elsewhere in the ocean, support for the Aquitayne defense was under way, though a slow, plodding pace meant they would fail to arrive before the enemy did. There was nothing to do about it, but to sent the fastest elements on ahead and make a stand before the main fleet could arrive. The Marina Militare was not, however, in the business of sending its fast ships to assuredly die for a country it hardly knew at all. No, the entire fleet would arrive at once as a solid hammer.

If Aquitayne couldn't hold out long enough, well, they supposed that it wasn't a country worth fighting for anyway. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case, of course.

As the missiles streaked towards the enormous fleet anti-air filled the sky but the missiles still made contact with 5 small escort ship and gave a relatively minor damage to one of the dreadknoughts.

Luckily within the hour the fleet would be within striking distance.

It was time. The Underium fleet was within a few hundred kilometers of the coastline. 200 Su-27s were loaded up with P-270 "Moskit" Supersonic cruise missiles. They also carried a pair of R-77 missiles, and another pair of R-73 missiles. These pilots were some of the best in Izarius with over a thousand flying hours each. However, they had never been in actual combat before, and most of them were apprehensive about the task ahead.

They took off from each of their airfields. With 10 different runways and times between launches of 30 seconds, it took them only 15 minutes to all get airborne. Climbing to 15000 meters, they cruised towards the enemy ships. Within 150km, they turned on afterburners and accelerated to supersonic speeds. Within a 100 km, they released their P-270 missiles.

200 Moskits streaked towards their targets. Because of their speed, the defenses would have only 20-30 seconds to react. This swarm was designed to overwhelm the defenses and ensure that a few missiles make it through. As they approached the ships, the Moskits would engage in violent maneuvers to make targeting extra difficult for the defenses.

Meanwhile, the Su-27s returned home for maintainence and to prepare for future attacks.

Official Message from the United States of Allanea

The weakling Underians once again raise their dirty paws against humanity, against sapientkind. They themselves do not belong to its fold. The slaver is not a human being. The slaver denies his own rights by choosing to be a slaver. Our comrades in Libertarian Governance have already once liberated Underium - but you see that despite all efforts, Underians returned to their former habits. The Underians clearly have a disgusting cultural preference towards enslaving each other, and others.

The Underians are now whingeing about their supposed sovereignty - even as they prepare to invade a nation merely for refusing to trade with them. This is not even disgusting. This is laughable on its face - but then slavers are laughable, pathetic bullies. This is, after all, the nature of slavery - to bully others into doing your will.

In accordance with the Lex Bellum Aeterna, the United States of Allanea hereby offers its support to Aquitania. We are preparing a strategic airlift utilizing our full strategic airlift capacity to lift two divisions of airborne infantry to protect Aquitania itself. Further, a force of 500 Havenfighters will ferry itself to Aquitania as soon as the permission from that nation will be received.

Further, a fleet of 500 ships will be prepared and will be under way within several days, perhaps weeks. Meanwhile, we will utilize other tools at our disposal to combat the Underian threat.

As the airplanes approached they were picked up on long range scanners and the anti missiles defenses powered up as other ships stopped moving and opened up their missiles sending out a web of missiles towards the island all targeting anti air defenses. the missiles were there to over power with sheer numbers.

As the enemy missiles approached the anti air opened up and anti missiles sent out countermeasures and missiles to intercept. however there were still twenty ships that were directly hit, seven out of commision and abandoned.

OOC: Ok. They'll get there in batches. The Army will be landing first. The Navy is already there albeit in a small task force.
IC:

The 18th Task Force, 2nd Fleet, Lanos Navy had arrived to the coast of Aquitania without incident, if you can call the period before Lanos entered into this war as incident-less. The 18th TSF was sent initially to monitor the situation and prepare for the defense of Aquitania's shores. The 43rd Marine Division was already landed on the shore, now the task force was waiting for action.

Suddenly aboard the ROL Shriker, a Shriker-class aircraft carrier and the flagship, alarms rang out. An F-35 alerted the ship to a possible sighting. Commodore Rainman, head of the force, ordered the ships to general quarters and to sail out to engage. The Shriker began launching its combat aircraft; an assortment of F-35s and F-18s. The Commodore was aware that other nation's fleets began engaging the enemy hours ago. Now it was the Lanos Navy's turn.

OOC: Your move.

The Supreme Commander of the military, General Norman Rezantia of the Army, was observing status reports on the main screen in the Bunker's control room. Then the Commodore's report that his task force sighted enemy ships and were preparing to engage came in. Rezantia read the report then shredded it. He called the Navy's top Admiral into his makeshift command office and discussed when the rest of the Navy would arrive. Observers reported that there was loud shouting and the Commander of Naval Operations walked out in a rage after the meeting, muttering that the Army guy had no fucking understanding of Naval operations. But the Navy would get there come hell or high water. That task force would have to hold on until reinforcements arrived.

OOC: A detailed ORBAT will be released later.

As the aircraft released their missiles, they detected incoming anti-aircraft missiles. As soon as they released their cruise missiles, they turned to escape the maximum range of the SAMs. 4 of them, however, strayed too close to the ships and were shot down.

As the aircraft returned, a second wave of 100 Su-27 set out, to accomplish a repeat of the last attack. However, this time they also carried Kh-58 anti-radiation missiles. They would fly closer towards the enemy ships to bait the anti-aircraft defenses. Once the ships fired their anti-aircraft missiles, the Su-27s would release their Kh-28s which would home undetected towards the enemy radars.

Strangely after the first volley of anti air the fleet of Underium already started turning around at maximum speed, everyone was shouting, retreat to the homeland, were to outnumbered and it looked extremely disorganized.

However in reality it was all a very intelligent trap, There was one boat that seemed to be left, a small escape boat that seemed to be the admiral in charge of the military, the men had abandoned him there to be captured. In reality though, in a anti radiation casing, inside of the boat was a powerful biological weapon that was a new genetically modified and violent virus only known to Underium as strain b-87-XX that was released silently, the men on board had it and there was no way of knowing. This disease left unchecked could not reveal itself for over a week, by that time it could infect millions and they would die due to it being a different straing the normal cure would not be very effective. It would be better then nothing but it would not cure those that already have it.

That is the true power of Underium, surprises.

The Lanosian Task force took after the retreating fleet. The assorted F-18s and F-35s, numbering 52 jets, came upon the ships. The destroyers and cruisers coming after the fleet ignored the small boat. They don't take prisoners during the height of combat, that's later on the list. The destroyers and cruisers opened fire with their guns, their Harpoons, and their torpedos. The jets also opened fire and threw out flares. This wasn't going to be pretty.

OOC: Try fleshing out your posts a bit more. If not including characters (I decided not to in mine) then some measure of description of the fleet, ships, reasons for doing what they're doing, etc. Details make for a better read.

The dreadnought and a few escorts pulled away from the rest of the Underium fleet to intercept the Santherese battle group, and the patrol likewise peeled off. While it could probably take the lot of them and do some more damage to the fleet as a whole, it was far more interested in doing what it could and leaving before anything could happen to it.

The reaction time was a little slow, and they did not all turn about and accelerate away from the ships. Notable were those that were screening the carrier, whose air wing minus AWACS had returned. One of the powerful Bacardi cruisers, and three of the frigates stood firm between the carrier and the dreadnought, missiles primed. They attempted contact with the dreadnought to tell it to withdraw - an act of mercy that they honestly expected the hostiles to take. After all, surely they knew they couldn't win? With Underium's fleet still steaming on ahead, the battle group had the local upper hand.

Other fleets had been detected, though their disposition had not been verified. They outnumbered local Santherese forces by orders of magnitude, so the group kept its distance as best it could. Even if they were fighting "for" Aquitayne, the group and indeed Santheres in general had no trust.

OOC: Anthrax isn't like that. If you develop an infectious 'strain' it would likely be an entirely different bacteria... which is fine by me, but that makes it deeply PMT.

Also, how big is the Underian fleet?
