Expanding China's Borders [Breaking Ice - Closed]

Asia Major - 1991
Mongolia

The People's Republic of China is one of the most powerful nations on Earth. It spans millions of acres of land through every ecosystem imaginable; from tropical rain forests to arid deserts, rolling plains to frozen mountain tops. Yet it is never enough; it is never ever enough to stop; for the Dragon to go "this is enough" it will never happen, it will never stop consuming, a ravenous unstoppable beast nearly unchallenged.

There was a great reason for this; of course. The Legacy of China's Empire that had begun in the years Before Christ. Such a legacy did not change with the color of the banner. Such a legacy did not change because of a change in mere government. No; because it did not matter what the color of the banner was; everyone who lived in reality knew that the title of Beijing's Closefisted Ruler would always in practice be Emperor of China; even if it was not on paper.

China, the land of dictators and tyrants, of emperors and warlords. It's Empire would be vast once more; but first it was the job of the glorious People's Liberation Army, and the cohorts of government making deals and shadows with other governments; that would bring about the recovery of ancestral lands.

Mongolia; home of the Mongol Barbarians that had once conquered China; establishing their so called Great Yuan which was toppled by Ming; which was then toppled by those who were now illegitimately oppressed beneath another banner, but they were another mission, another time. Mongolia was the current mission; the five divisions of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force entered the Mongolian Border in the mid-morning; making directly for Ulan Bator; with a surprising lack of any form of resistance.

Hours and hours passed; silence coming from Asia as decisions were made, and at last came the announcement, but not at the point of a gun like it would be thought, those divisions had spread out to secure Mongolia's northern Border, in the event Arovia took things violently. Mongolia signed the Treaty of Unification that very same day with peace; and without being threatened.

The People's Republic of China and Mongolia; the official name. Nothing would truly change, Mongolia would remain almost entirely autonomous, it's peoples would remain nomadic or semi-nomadic, and things would continue easily enough; though the lines on the map would simply need to be redrawn, less someone take issue with this agreed to upon writ...

If they did so; not only did Mongolia possess it's own force of arms, but the entire People's Liberation Army stood behind them and their agreement. Because; despite what some would say, this was a mutual relationship and an agreement, not a theft or occupation...

Seoul, The Holy Empire of Korea
May 1991

The Holy Empire of Korea was annoyed by recent actions of China, the "Dragon," they demanded to be referred to as, was becoming spoiled and irritable. Out of nowhere China decided to annex Mongolia, a land of deserts and nomads. Worse, China claimed to be expanding in the name of reclaiming the once glorious China, the country constantly in political scandals, warring among itself, a country of fragile economy, as Korea peacefully watched from the sidelines, new Chinese dynasties and states would rise and fall like flies. Had they forgotten that these ambitions had led to the overthrow of many past empires, sometimes even to China falling to the likes of Khitans, Mongols and Manchus. As the people of Korea saw it, China would be better off not chasing after its past, when the past was so unpromising. China, with its recent wealth and power, has morphed into a child constantly calling for more, while justifying their actions through claiming their civilization to thousands of years old, but had they forgotten it was not much older than Korean civilization.

The Holy Empire of Korea has been preparing for the day China would attack, of course China had to place its capital right on the two country borders, the government of China has been complaining for some time over the possession of Manchuria, and would eventually lead to war if these complaints are not contained. The Holy Empire of Korea would be protected by its people from the growing menace, history has proven the ability of minuscule Korean dynasties and states to defeat the advancements of Imperial China, gigantic in population, economy and power. Now, China was still superior in economy and military, but the gap had drastically decreased with time, China would not be able to occupy Manchuria.

China's advancement would only create tension, Korea would follow lead, it would call on the help of its allies America, and, would plea, for the help of Arovia, China could any day overshadow Arovia in if not left in check, had it not already been done. China already acts distrustful of its northern neighbors, and Arovia might not object to disrupting the growth of an "ally" to beyond the levels of itself, especially when China does not seem committed to Arovia.

The Greater Republic of Arovia
Vladivostok - 1991

The closest bastion of Arovian Military Might to the Red Dragon was Vladivostok; the port city which had seen not as much blood as the rest of Arovian Landscape. The Arovian Pacific Fleet harbored here; an aircraft carrier of minuscule size compared to the great supercarriers of America; along with half a dozen of the mighty Kirov-class Heavy Cruisers, a few Akula-class Attack Submarines; and divisions of Naval Infantry. It was humble; and small but it's roar was ferocious and mighty.

Like Korea, Arovia was paranoid of China, the Middle Kingdom was mighty and strong they would not deny that. Their great numbers nearly limitless shined out even the Arovian Legions of peasants turned soldiers as done in the Second World War. Their alliegence, Arovia doubted more and more each passing day.

As China snapped up Mongolia; and Mongolia agreed; that shocked Arovia as the Dragon acted less like such a mighty creature and more like a spoiled child with a want for more and more. Yet, nothing would be done in the name of allies and alliance; and general governmental stupidity.

China was powerful; even more powerful than Arovia in all of it's might would like to admit, and it was in the end a very valuable ally possessing such wealth and resource as they did. Arovia would for the time being allow them to overshadow, allow them their as the Spanish would say; Reconquestia! In name of their Ancient Empires.

Arovica sent a simple message to the Chinese; 'Congratulations on your recent peaceful annexation of the State of Mongolia, the Republic of Arovia wishes you and your new found partnership well.' Nothing more, nothing less. It seemed in this instance, indeed; the Arovian Bear would bow to the Chinese Dragon...

To: The People's Republic of China

From: The Socialist Republic of Vietnam

The Socialist Republic of Vietnam will support and recognize the People's Republic of China as the sole owner of Mongolia. In fact we believe this will benefit and prosper the people of Mongolia. The Mongols. China will bring industry, jobs, and peace to the country. However though we the Socialist Republic will like to talk about a different topic. Sino-Vietnamese Relations have been neutral for the last few decades. However though the Socialist Republic will like to have better relations with China. Which includes increased trade, and the possibility of a military alliance between our two countries.

We'll wish to conduct a meeting between the two of our countries. President Nguyễn Minh Triết will like to meet with President Hu Jintao at a certain time in Hanoi in the following month.

Thank you for your time in reading this, and hopefully Sino-Vietnamese Relations will become better in the future.
Now known as the Technological State of Adros, the successor state of Western Cuba

The People's Republic of China and Mongolia
Beijing

It was but a simple bureaucrat who read the missive from the Nanman peoples. Not one of rank or standing; just another cog in the Chinese diplomatic machine. Another embodiment of the State; the State which lived on shattered dreams and broken spirits. Like any faithful servant the bureaucrat delivered the missive to the President-General; neigh, Emperor of China; rumors of which that title was soon to become a reality?

"A letter from Viet Nam." The President-General read carefully and nodded softly; understanding. For long they had been silent to one another; neutral in most aspects with respects to one another borders and ways, yet the Viet Namese were closer in form and government than the Koreans were; or the Japanese who were seeking talks with Beijing for known reasons, the aforementioned Koreans. "This could be good for us." He said at length; assembled politicians and a few military men.

"Send a counter-declaration; we will speak to Viet Nam."

Diplomatic Missive of the People's Republic of China

To: The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam
From: The People's Republic of China and Mongolia

The People's Republic thanks the government of Viet Nam for this recognition and understanding of our manuevers within Mongolia which will indeed bring prosperity to both the Mongol and Han peoples as they work together toward future goals that will indeed one day bring about prosperity for all on the Earth. Regarding Han-Viet Namese relations; we may speak at length with President Nguyễn Minh Triết at the discretion of the President-General of China; Hu Jinato as soon as time may be allotted to arrange a meeting in the coming days.

Sincerely,
Chinese Ministry of State
