The Congress of USSR wrote:A simple yet elegant Blackhawk flies, no, GLIDES over the barren landscape of the USSCU. Capitan James S. Williams, a man in about his thirties, is pilot. He was a military pilot, but a mission gone wrong horribly scarred him. No one paid attention to him.The passengers he is carrying is none other than former President Peter II. Peter II was eliminated from power on April 27, 1989. A revolution caused the collapse of his fine army and navy. But what Peter II is carrying is something more important than the entire USSCU. He is holding the launch codes for all of USSCU's missiles. When he was eliminated from power, the new President forgot to seize the launch codes. Now, Peter II is a powerful man in person. It's like his entire aura is filled with strength. The Blackhawk slowly stops, hovering over a helicopter pad. But what Peter II DOESN'T know is that Capitan James S. Williams is really a terrorist. Capitan Williams stands up. "Okay, just give me the launch codes while you get off." "No thanks, I can just hold them." Suddenly, Capitan Williams pulls a gun out from his flight jacket. "Give... me... the launch codes." Peter II sits down immediately and gives Capitan Williams the codes. "Don't make a move, don't yell, don't even escape. I have men everywhere. They will kill you." Peter II slowly nods and gets comfortable in his seat. "This is going to take a while" he thought. But boy was he wrong...

Part 2 is Tomorrow

OOC:back to the war

Along Highway 1...

Jamal looked through the binoculars, it was getting harder to see with the setting sun to his back. But he could still make out the shapes of the Coalition vehicles moving down the interstate. He was no fool, he knew that the army would probably fall at Ezri, which is why Freedom's Wind was taking action themselves. If these invaders thought that they could just march to the Capital they were mistaken. His first target would be the Virginian ambulance he saw. He picked up the RPG and fired. The explosion was nothing as spectaclur as in the movies but it was satisfing none the less. He watched as his brothers fired at other vehicles hitting a Coalition tank and a troop transport. The infidels turned and started firing back. As much as he wanted to charge them, he knew it was time to go, hoping to use the darkness of the setting sun as cover.

Tanks commander Triv's tank was right behind the ambulance when the first rpg hit the ambulance in front of him.

"Around us! Engage!" he yelled into the radio

The the light tank turned to engage whoever it was that was shooting at them. For a second Triv saw the shape of some people with RPG's. Within just a second of seeing them the tank took a direct hit to the front. The tank shook violently when the RPG hit it's front armor, blowing a hole in the front. While the damage was severe the tank was still operable. Triv yelled for them to return fire before asking for a damage report. The nimble tank fired it's main gun and gunned it's engines as it charged towards where the RPG's had come from. The crew knew they were lucky that they had not been killed, the driver had been wounded from shrapnel when the RPG hit but he was ok. As the tank fired it's second shell a machine gun located below the tanks main cannon opened fire.

"Go, go! Get us closer!" he yelled peering through the sites of the tank

"Loaded!"

"Fire!"

Captain Andrushka Nicolev saw his commander's helicopter off with a straight face, while on the inside, he was elated. Finally, not just command of and ECRRT, but four ECRRTs! After giving his men a pep talk, he went to the landing pads and told the crews to warm up their helicopters for the upcoming mission. He noticed a similar-looking set of helicopters near his own and realized that they were the Virginian birds his country had sold weeks before. As he walked back to the beach, he saw some Lacus Magni soldiers nearby carrying rifles the same as his own K-24. He realized that this war was becoming a Marcherian techfest, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Soon, the choppers were warmed up. Nicolev's men boarded for an incredibly dangerous and important mission: capture the leaders of Freedom's Wind, one of the terrorist groups that started this war. Intel had gotten a fix on three of them in a small village near Ezri designated as an FW stronghold. Nicolev's men would storm the village and try to take them alive. The helicopters lifted off after dark, flying incredibly low over the ground, guided by Coalition AWACS. When they were within a mile of the village, an AH-55 loosed a single Hellfire missile at the large, inviting radio antenna...

The Radio Tower exploded. And the villagers scattered. One of the insurgents fired back and shot an RPG at the Marcherian helicopter hitting it in the tail and bringing it down. The village was really nothing more than a collection of houses around this tiny propaganda radio tower, with a populace of 32. The 6 Remaining terrorists, dug in, and prayed. Most of fighters retreated under the convoy's fire power. The Message had been sent. The Battle for Shekara was far from over, and the Road to victory was going to be paved in blood.

Nicolev swore aloud. He detailed an MH-26 to see to the crew and passengers of the downed Chancellor, while keeping the rest of the flight moving at the terrorist position. They hit their LZ at the edge of town and disgorged their troops. Meanwhile, the UH-26 and the squad of commandos aboard detailed to rescue the downed AH-55 found the gunship's pilots dead, but most of the commandos on board shaken, but alive. They were ferried to the LZ in two trips to join the fight. The main body of the force pushed through the town, blasting at terrorists and eventually encircling an area around a large, multistory concrete building. This place was said to be the terrorist leaders' meeting place. Nicolev and a fireteam took up position at the front door as others jogged around back. When the other teams confirmed their readiness, Nicolev hit the detonator on his breaching charge. He and his fireteam rushed in, spraying accurate, deadly bullets at the terrorists....

OOC: Most of my people are called by their ID number but many have nick names for short

Along the main highway

"Three fours (444) what the hell are you doing!" yelled the Sargent

"I'm..uh..just."

"We were just having a bit of fun, sir. I just wanted to get a picture of-" said the trooper next to him

"Your screwing around is what you are doing! This is not a vacation! Now this is supposed to be a checkpoint not a god damn funny papers strip!"

The Sargent took away the picture the troopers had taken of the checkpoint looked at the picture of the trooper behind the cinder block for a second. The two troopers laughed and even the Sargent cracked a smile despite usually being professional and overcritical of his squad. He then handed the picture back to Three Fours and walked away shaking his head wondering what the locals would think when they saw the checkpoint.

OOC:At Mazora HAHAHAA

IC:

2000 Day 4 Hours Coalition Briefing

General Haverson walked into the tent that had been set up for such a meeting. Despite the surprise attack by FW the Marcherians had largely driven them off allowing the Coalition to move into position virtually unopposed, in the distance one could make out the dark siloutes of skyscrapers, Ezri had gone dark after the destruction of the provincial power plant, and back up systems had been knocked out by days of shelling via naval cruise missiles. However that worked perfectly for the Coalition forces, as the Shekari military would have no idea they were out there, they would know the enemy was coming just not when.
General Haverson entered the tent and scanned the room, the commanding Generals of the Lacian, Marzoran, Gurundan, and the CO of the Marcherians were all already assembled as was General Smith of the 3rd Infantry Division (Army). "All right Gentlemen, the day is finally here we will lay siege to Ezri, the transportation hub of all of Shekara, if this city falls we can march straight to the capital and with it find out where Ashajad, head of FW is hiding. At 2200 hours the Navy flyboys will bomb the city center to cover the Start of the Marzoran Operation Last Night. Then at 0300 hours tomorrow artillery will begin shelling the outskirts, make the Shekari bunker down. By 0500 Our airforce long range bombers will begin carpet bombing along Highway one, to punch a hole right through to the city center, everyone but the Lacians should push through behind the bombings to the city center, before the enemy can regroup, thereby getting behind their lines and into their logistical areas, make them wither on the vine! Lastly by 0430 our forces with the the Lacians will surround the Western outskirts and push in block by block, thus we will keep them busy until the rest of you get behind their lines and then we will have their army cut off and surrounded, the perfect killing zone, and hopefully that means much of the Eastern section of the city, where will believe there may still be lots of refugees will be left relatively untouched. Good Hunting." He then turned from the map on the wall, where he had been pointing to details, and looked at the crowd, "Any questions? Thoughts"

Coalition Briefing

Major General Pressley watched General Haverson enter the room, it was time to get down to business. He had just been conversing with Colonel Hadley, and the 1st Armored and 1st Infantry were in place. All the T-90's made it onto the beach successfully, something he worried about. Infantry and armor were in position on the highway, while artillery was going to their designated positions. Pressley liked Haverson's plan, he could tell he was a competent commander. He nodded at the conclusion of his speech, all the details seemed in place. He just had one question. "Any anti-air positions that we know of in Ezri? If we could destroy them now while we still have a few hours, our pilots, and soldiers on the ground would really appreciate that."

Highway to Ezri
Gurudan troops were grouped along the main highway with other coalition forces, as they still had a few hours to kill before they were to begin moving. Major Lawson's Alpha Company was getting some rest along the highway, with several of the soldiers sitting in their Humvee.
[Pvt Rolston] "Hey, uh, Hawthorne wanna toss me one of those MRE's?"
[Pvt Hawthorne] "Yeah, I gotcha," he said. Handing one to Rolston, and also one to Pvt Goldstein. "Eat up Goldstein, you'll want this for later."
[Pvt Goldstein] "Alright, thanks man."
[Pvt Rolston] "What did you get, Goldstein?"
[Pvt Goldstein] "Um, let's see here...Chili with beans. What's yours?"
[Pvt Rolston] "Chicken with noodles. Better than that attempt at sausage you gave me this morning, Hawthorne!" he said jokingly.
[Pvt Hawthorne] "Hey man, you didn't say what you wanted, it was in the package."
After a few minutes of eating, a crewmember of the Bradley parked infront of the Humvee appeared from inside. He took off his helmet and jumped off the side. Rolston saw him and thought he looked familiar, so he got out of the Humvee and walked over towards him. "Be right back, guys" he said. He read the name tape across the crewmember's chest, and sure enough, it said Matthews. Rolston and Matthews knew each other from highschool, and kept in touch a little bit. They hoped to work together, but one being sent to 1st Infantry and the other to 1st Armored made thing's a little difficult. "Well look who it is," Rolston said towards him, getting his attention.

2150 Hours, heading towards Ezri
[Moreau] "Looking good, Shamrock" Moreau said, referring to his F-18 just over his right wing."
[Stingray] "Joker, Shamrock, it's Stingray. That you guys up there?" keeping his A-10 at a lower alititude than the rest.
[Moreau] "That's us, how are thing's looking down there?"
[Stingray] "Just fine, no targets or anything. I think I see a lot of our guys way off to the east, on that highway. Let's give 'em a show tonight."
[Moreau] "Copy that Stingray, don't get your tank chewed up down there, if there's any armor, you know what to do. Good luck."

The coalition pilots were nearing Ezri, and pilots were getting their targets sorted out.

[Moreau] "We're getting pretty close, do another check of your weapons systems, let's make this quick."

Major General van Denti watched as the Virginian General walked into the tent and looked around at the other Generals awaiting to hear the plan. After the briefing he had heard that his soldiers were going to be holding back from the primary engagement with the rest of the coalition. He then went to relay the battle plan to his men.

LACIAN HQ
General van Denti had walked back his HQ and passed along the information to his officers. He walks in salutes, "Gentlemen, today is the day we've been waiting for. The attack begins at 0300 hours with artillery strikes. Our attack begins 0430 hours. We will be stationed on the western outskirts of the city and push our way in until we meet up with the rest of the Coalition forces. We will have air and armor support, this shouldn't take long. Men, our objective is easy. Any questions?"
The group of officers departed from the tent and met up with the rest of the Lacian soldiers to rest up. Some of the more seasoned legionaries got some sleep before they went out. Others, most of which were getting ready to see their first action. One legionary, Pvt. James Altina could not sleep at all. He had a look of uncertainty on his face, his commanding officer, Cap. Michael Hapline noticed this.
[Hapline] "Altina, you alright?"
[Altina] "Just nervous Captain thats all. Captain, what was it like your first time out there?"
[Haplin] "I was scared shitless, just like you. Try not to think about it and get some sleep James we move out at 0400."
[Altina]"Yes sir, I'll try"

2200 Hours the skies above Ezri City

This was the opening debut of the Imperial Republican Army Air Corps. They had the best aircraft in the Virginian arsenal, and up until now had been left in Reserve or to defend the homeland. At long last the President and the Emperor and signed the order allowing them to enter combat, thus after refueling once the planes had made the 4 hour journey at Mach 2 to reach Shekara's shores. Now at long last 40 of the GM-24 fighters were going to leave a mark in this war. Major 'Snake Eyes' Endries lead the air group's assault, and he secretly hoped this operation would be enough to break the Air Corps from under the Army's shadow and become a proper air force.
"This is Strike leader to Strike Group One targets in site, AA is priority 1."
"Rodger that Strike leader, targets in sight"

The Aircraft dispersed 10 dropping to low altitudes and began using their guns to fire upon the munitions storage sites and the camps of soldiers. Another 10 dropped laser guided bombs on the 5 known AA batteries. While Overkill it was nontheless effective in destroying all the AA sites in the City Center. 16 of the Remaining 20 darted throughout the skies looking for targets of oppurtunity.

As for the remaining four.
"This is Red-3 Got four bogeys approaching from the west, request permission to engage"
"Negative, probably stray friendlies, check callsigns and FOF.
"Strike Leader, negative not friendlies, Do not match Gurundan FOF or callsigns, and they should be the only ones up here with us, betting these are the remaining Shekari fighters"
"Roger, Engage at your descretation, Good Hunting"
The 4 fighters zoomed towards the Shekari fighters and unleashed 2 missiles at each of the bogeys. 3 of the 4 Shekari planes were destroyed outright, but the Colonel flying the 4th was skilled and managed to evade. Admiring his skill Red-3 broke formation and pursued. despite having more missiles, he chose instead to rely on guns and closed 1,500 meters. And opened fire, both planes darted up into the night's sky. The Shekari Colonel continued to evade, until he made on unfortunate mistake, he banked left when he should have banked right.
"Got you, you son of bitch" Red-3 said as he squeezed the trigger. The tracer fire ripped through the Shekari plane's left wing and sent it tumbling towards the ground, about halfway down a spark from the charred metal ignited the fuel line and the doomed aircraft exploded.
Red -3 looked down at the explosion "Tallyho!"

Major Endries turned his radio to the Marine Command's frequency, "Skies are clear and AA is out, tell the Mazoran's Operation Last Night is Go, I repeat its a go. We'll keep em covered"

"Alright! Operation Last Night is a go!" said the Pilot of one of the aircraft.

"Alright guys, you know what targets your going for! PIGs and HOGs are to go into the windows and mortar units are to stay up top."

It was finally time for the operation Last Night. The Marozan planes flew in towards their target areas with friendly aircraft providing cover for them, they had been waiting for this moment to finally bring this plan into action. It was clear the Virginian craft did their job well, they took no fire from the enemy forces on the ground or enemy aircraft. As they approached the targets the back of the planes opened up, it was only moments before the men and women would start their combat jump. After only fifteen seconds of the doors opening a green light went on and the first of the airborne jumped out of the plane, doing what they had been trained to do.

The men and women pulled their para shoot cord after a few seconds of falling and began steering towards their target since most did not start dropping directly on top of it. Intelligence said they would not encounter much resistance because most of the forces in the city were sleeping in tents closer to the front lines. It would be difficult but the rooftops would allow 30-40 soldiers to land on the roof of the buildings and let them to and begin to clear and secure them. The height of the buildings would allow the PIGs (Professionally Instructed Gunman)HOGs (Hunter of Gunmen) to snipe people from long distances and mortar units would allow shelling when the planes came back around to drop ammunition crates. The enemy would face attacks from outside and within.

(OOC: I know my posts have seemed really long, but because of quotes it's fast to read. :p )

Highway to Ezri

Private Rolston and Private Matthews were sitting on top of Matthew's Bradley, watching the night sky. Matthew's was the driver of the Bradley in 2nd Platoon in 1st Armored.

[Rolston] "So how was leaving for the trip over? Family still kinda bitter about you joining?" he said with a small chuckle.
[Matthews] "Nah, they've gotten a little better. I mean, they aren't thrilled but they saw that I was happy, and there's a good reason behind it, you know?"
[Rolston] "Yeah, I gotcha. I got a chance to get a call home before we left, since things went sort of fast. Have to make sure I get letters out, since it's the first time we've been deployed overseas."
[Matthews] "Good idea, they'll get a thrill out of letters. The girl of course will be expecting calls daily, like that going to happen." he said laughing.
[Rolston] "Woah man, you didn't mention that!"
[Matthews] "Yeah," he said chuckling. "You remember Sam from school right? Think the three of us had chem together. Damn, I hated that class."
Before Rolston could answer, one of the crewmembers popped out of the hatch of the Bradley.
[Smith] "Hey, we didn't know for a few weeks either, think the kids embarassed" he said with a wink. Looking up at Rolston, he reached his hand up. "Sergeant Smith, I'm the gunner of our APC."
[Rolston] "Private Rolston, Alpha Company, 1st Infantry. Nice to meet you," as he returned the handshake.
Matthews pointed up at the sky.
[Matthews] "Look at that," he said, referencing a bright light, a plane in flames.
[Rolston] "Hope our guys are doing okay up there."

Flight over Ezri

[Moreau] "Okay, the Virginian pilots are a bit further ahead than us, looks like they're engaging several miles to the east. How's things looking Shamrock?"
[Williams] "Looks good, keeping an eye for bogeys."

A few moments later, a Shekaran fighter appeared on radar.

[Williams] "Got one on the radar Joker, what's this guy doing alone? He isn't showing up on IFF."
[Moreau] "Maybe he's a leftover from a squadron that's already been shot down. Let's see what we can do."
[Williams] "Woah, he overshot big time, if he knows were here we definitely surprised him. I'm going to break off, let's get him."
[Moreau] "Okay...um, he just banked to the left, it looks like he's coming up behind you, check your 6."
[Williams] "Copy, I'm going to continue my break."
[Moreau] "He's closing on you, keep turning, do not stop."
[Williams] "Can't keep this up much longer, LT!"
[Moreau] "Okay, take it easy. Level out, catch your breath, bank left."
[Williams] "On it....Alright, G's going down, is he right on my 6? Going left."
[Moreau] "I'm about a 3/4 of a mile behind him, I'm going keep him guessing on his six. Think you could pull a flat scissors?"
[Williams] "Going too fast, don't think so."
[Moreau] "I'm trying to get a lock, but I can't risk getting you mixed up in this."
[Williams] "Okay, I'm going for it, let's give this a shot."

Williams banked to the left, the Shekaran fighter went to his right. Both looped back, crossing over each other, and Williams moved back to the right, the Shekaran to the left. The cycle repeated once more, and this placed the Shekaran fighter a 1/4 of a mile ahead of Williams.

[Williams] "Engaging!" Williams began firing the F-18's Vulcan gatling cannon, placing the crosshairs over the fighter. A few rounds managed to tear through the fuselage, and the plane ignited. "Got him, we're okay."
[Moreau] "Great job, Shamrock. You did well. Looks like your dogfighting is a little rusty though," he said jokingly.
[Williams] "Hey, when was the last time you had someone trying to shoot you down?"
[Moreau] "Good point. Okay, command, confirmed kill for Shamrock."

Erizi Military Command Bunker...People's Park 2 hours after the airstrikes

Major General Omar walked into the Command Center in the bunker, his sleep interrupted by the unexpected Virginian air attack. He turned to a Major Aban, "Aban what do you have for me?" The Major saluted, "My General, The Virginians and their allies launched a massive air attack 2 hours ago. It appears they managed to completely destroy of of our Anti air assets, all we have now to combat their complete air superiority is our mechanized units and RPGs, useful against their helicopters, but we have little to no assets that can handle their jets. We have reports of enemy snipers throughout the city, most likely they sneaked through our lines during the air raid, and are wreaking hell inside our lines. There are sketchy reports of mortar strikes but so far we haven't gotten any confirmation on that. Our Division suffered some heavy losses sir, 2 mechanized battalions were throughly licked, and one armored battalion destroyed." Both men turned to look at a screen where it showed a building downtown being fired upon by artillery and start to collapse, "What the hell..." muttered the Major, Omar screamed to a young colonel wearing headphones next to the communications station, "Who ordered that strike?!" The Colonel nervously answered, "General jafar sir, he says his division is getting hammered by mortar strikes, and he started calling in artillery on buildings that the strikes are coming from." The General turned red, "Order our Artillery to cease fire and relocate before the enemy targets them and Get me Jafar!" Moments later a headset was handed to him

"General Jafar, here?"
"You fool you gave away the positions of our artillery! We need those units to screen us from the coming assault and it is coming soon!"
"My men are getting slaughtered by mortars! Where the hell is our airforce...the cowards should be executed!"
"Our airforce is annihalated, the enemy has complete air superiority. You fool you may just cost us our last advantage!"
"We are the Leader's army we will prevail"
"None of that patriotic bull, right now, ordered your men to dig into trenches near the highway, and prepare for a full fledge assault"
"How dare you talk to me like that..."
"Shutup, I am in command of all forces in Ezri and you WILL DO AS I SAY!!!!" and with that the Major General cut the line. He turned to the Major, "I want you to monitor the situation from the secondary command bunker, and send the CO there, a Colonel Abdul to me." The Major saluted and climbed the stairs to the surface

"Lieutenant!-"

"I saw it!" the Lieutenant screamed as he picked up a radio "We just lost a building to artillery fire, I repeat we just lost a building to artillery fire! Need counter artillery fire, over" he screamed into the radio

"Rodger that, we'll have the flyboys do a recon run and see if we can find that artillery." the radio responded

The building that was destroyed was not to far away from the building being used as the main command center. The blast had broken a few windows and shaken the building, they may have lost more than 50 men and women to well placed artillery strike on the building. The building right next to one that was destroyed was reporting that they had suffered damage but the building was intact and that 7 men were wounded while one had been killed from flying debris that flew through some windows and glass from the windows themselves. The Lieutenant ordered that a unit be sent to the building to dig through the rubble to see if anyone was still alive, people who were on the roof might not be buried to deep or might be on top of the rubble.

Half a mile away from the Shekara camp in the city

"Oh! You fuckin see that?" said "Dot

"Ya he spun like three times. That was awesome." said his spotter

"We've got six enemy soldiers from this position, lets move to that building across the street. I think some of them know what building were in."

Dot and his spotter packed and went downstairs of the Mosque they were in. Just as they were about to run across the street they saw the artillery strike hit one the that buildings that the mortars were located in. The strike shook the ground despite the distance and made the building collapse as if it were nothing. For a second Dot stood there in shock before his spotter grabbed his shoulder and snapped him out of his almost trans-like state and they ran across the street.

"Common, you can't expect the enemy to not fight back." his spotter said to him

Military Command,

A young captain handed General Haverson a note, "Sir, the Maozorans are requesting we divert aircraft to hit artillery at these coordinates." The General shook his head, "Negative, tell them artillery bombardment is to commence and we'll hit those coordinates that way, tell them to mark the buildings they are one with infrared lights, so that they aren't targeted by friendly artillery." The Captain nodded.

40 minutes later.

Virginian artillery opened fire, most targeted the primary Shekari lines to soften them up for the assault. The others targeted the 6 known enemy artillery vechicles. One was destroyed and one crippled, the others had relocated before the bombardment commenced. Virginian aircraft began withdrawing in mass from Ezri airspace, as 20 of the old B-52 bombers were approaching the Shekari coastline with 4 fighter escorts. The assault was going to have to begin earlier than planned, as the bombers were closer than expected.

General Haverson walked to the comm station and contacted the heads of the Coalition forces. transmitting one message Eli Begins in 25 minutes

The Gurudan aircraft had finished their runs over Ezri, with a certain degree of success. One Gurudan F-18 had been shot down, but the pilot managed to eject and was recovered by coalition forces. They were now returning to the Virginian aircraft carrier to end the sortie.

Highway to Ezri
[Pvt Rolston] "Yeah so---"
[Pvt Hawthorne] "Rolston! We need you back with the company, ASAP!"
[Pvt Rolston] "What's going on?"
[Pvt Hawthorne] "You'll be briefed on the way, come on!"
[Pvt Rolston] looking over at Matthews, "Take care of yourself out there man, get back in one piece. Hopefully we'll meet up soon."
[Pvt Matthews] "Same to you," he said punching his shoulder. "Good luck."
Private Rolston jumped down from the Bradley, and followed Corporal Hawthorne back to the Humvee.
[Pvt Hawthorne] "We're going into Ezri within half an hour, we need everyone ready."
The two arrived back at their humvee, with Pvt Goldstein, Sgt Donnely and Spc Hanson already there.
[Sgt Donnely] "Okay guys, Hanson, you're driving, I'll take the passenger seat. Goldstein, man the gun, the rest of you guys in the back."
All but Goldstein and Hanson moved their rifles across their lap, getting ready for whatever was ahead. About 5 minutes later, Major Lawson came by, checking on each of the teams in his Company.
[Lawson] "Okay guys, you look all set to go. When you hear "Eli," that is our code to move into the city. Good luck, and let's all make it out."
They all began to sit anxiously, and no one was really speaking. They were making sure their rifles were clean, just fiddling around. Waiting for the signal, over the quiet radio.

"Hello?"

"Sergeant, what do you have to report?"

"We've dug through some of the buildings rubble, six are confirmed KIA. We found one of the troopers still alive near the surface, she didn't make it."

"Sergeant it's your call weather to keep digging, over and out."

The Lieutenant looked at a map of the city, several red dots were on the map representing sniper locations. He knew they were ready to take on the enemy if they retreated to their position, they had set up some barricades and set up several HG-26's to mow down any infantry that charged their position. What they didn't know was how much the enemy knew about their strength and numbers, the enemy might just think mortars and snipers got behind their lines or that an entire regiment was behind them to cut off any retreat, whatever the case they would need to keep the enemy from falling back and escaping once the attack happened.

"I want mortar fire to concentrate along here. That should soften them up for when the coalition hits them." the Lieutenant said as he pointed to one of the enemy positions

Captain Hapline, of the Lacian Legions gathered his troops up and told them of what was about to happen. "Alright guys, this is it. We know what we need to do. For the Emperor!" The rest of the company stands up and chants, "For the Emperor!" as well. While moving up the road to their vehicles. The more seasoned soldiers were confident, experienced and some itching to get out there and fight these murders, these terrorists. But a few of the younger men were a bit more skeptical, including Pvt. Altina.
Speaking to some others, Altina said, "Man, how are you guys feeling right about now." His close friend, Pvt. de Laans said, "Nervous as shit man." Altina replys, "Same here man, all last night I was thinking to myself, why are we even here." "You know what that kind of crossed my mind too" said de Lanns. Before Cap. Hapline intervened, Pvt. Altina said, "I mean I don't really get why we are here fighting someone else's war. I mean these guys didn't attack us."
Hapline stormed over to the two and said, "We're here because a mass-murdering, psychopath killed thousands of innocent people. It could have easily happened to people we know and love at home. We're here to make sure this doesn't happen again. Now I'm not to pretend this conversation didn't happen so I don't have to report you. Now keep your damn mouth shut James. Do we understand each other?" Pvt. Altina nearly pissed himself and got ready for the fight.
The rest of the Lacian Legions got to their choppers, tanks, humvee's and rolled out up the road for the fight.

The Shekari military, despite losing all of its SAMs in the Coalition air raid, they still had 4 mobile AA guns. While not able to compete with a fighter they could take on a bomber. The Shekari soldiers of 17th Regiment were dug in along the highway. Once they noticed the bombers in the distance the captain in charge radioed in to Military command. THe mobile AA guns were redeployed to hit the bombers hard. They wouldn't get through. Not this time. Once the first bomber began its bomb run on Highway one the 4 mobile AA guns opened fire. the tracer fire took out the bomber long before it dropped its full payload.

Dot and his spotter were on the top of a large office building and could see the coalition forces starting to advance onto the city. They were about a mile away from the enemy lines and were ready to help the coalition forces from their position. They may be able pin down the enemy soldiers but since they were a little more than a mile away accuracy would be difficult. As he stuck his gun into a moderate size hole they had made in the ledge his spotter looked through his binoculars to see if there was a prominent target they could take out that might make thing difficult for them if he stayed alive.

"I see one man with an RPG and another who appears to be a radio operator."

"Got the RPG in my sites." he said as he rose gun so the center of the scope was above the target

"Wind speed....move 2 dots to the right."

He then shifted the gun more to the right of the target and steadied his aim for a moment and fired, after three seconds he got another shot off at his target. The first bullet landed at his feet four seconds after it left the barrel of the sniper rifle, landing within inches of the soldier, causing him to panic before a few seconds latter the second bullet his his leg. When Dots spotter told him the target was down but was still alive Dot steadied his rifle and fired again, within a few seconds the trooper with the RPG was dead. He then set about picking out other targets as they ran about trying to figure out where the shots had come from. The hole they had made was so that anyone shooting back would have to be dead on to even hit them.

OC:first part is a synopsis of my original post the rest picks up from there

IC:

The 19 remaining bombers continued to press home their bombing campaign. The escort fighters dove to the deck in search on the AA guns. The bombers continued to take heavy losses but kept pushing the attack home. By the time the message ELI had been transmitted to coalition forces only 11 bombers remained, yet they kept bombing their way to the city center. The escort's managed to destroy one mobile AA platform, before their fuel count forced them to turn back. By the time the bombers closed on their Objective Only 3 remained. However the forces along the highway had been driven off, and over a regiments worth of treads was destroyed. They had succeed in blowing a hole in the enemy lines.

Colonel Leo Halsey was in command of the remainder of the squadron. He watched as the Big Bird bomber crashed into an office building, now there were only 3 bombers left, but they were virtually right on top of their Objective. The two ahead of him dropped the last of their bombs and rushed to to the safety of higher altitudes. He turned to his copilot, "Can we make it?" the copilot shook his head, "Negative we are too banged up, we'll just crash in the wilderness or the desert....Leo LOOK!" He pointed out the window and below to their left a ways was a park, with a bunker and a communications array...as well as all 3 AA guns, now being reloaded...must be a command center Halsey turned around to face his bomber crew, "Well folks we all lost family back in Portsmouth, and hell there isn't much of a home to go back to...the city is in ruins. We also don't have enough fuel nor is it likely this bird will hold together long enough to get us home. Anyone opposed to taking out one last target." His entire crew nodded soberly, all from Portsmouth, they all had suffered loss, and they were fine with this being their last act. Halsey picked up the radio to contact Coalition command.
"Colonel Halsey of the 17th Bomber Sqaudron. We have eyes on probable enemy Command Center, preparing to take it out"
Command; "Negative Colonel, you don't have the ordinance to penetrate a bunker...200lb bombs won't cut it"
Halsey: "But we have the tonnage"
Command:"Wait wha...Mary mother of God...[New voice], Colonel this is General Haverson I can't ask you to do this, in fact I insist you return to friendly airspace at once, just come home son."
Halsey: "Sir, our bomber's shot to hell, we aren't going to make it home, this is one way or another, a one way trip. At least this way our deaths mean something.
Command:"Understood, God bless you Halsey. The Empire needs more men like you."
Halsey "Thank you Sir"

The bomber banked and began a descent towards the bunker, the AA guns tired their firepower on it tearing through the cockpit and parts of the fuselage, but as they were being reloaded ran out of ammunition fast, besides with the force of gravity working in the b52s favor they would have to destroy the bomber to stop the impact. Just before impact a mortally wounded Halsey spoke his nation's motto, "For the Republic and The Empire" The bomber struck the left side of the bunker, and the explosion sent debris everywhere, killing most of the people inside the bunker, a part from the wing struck the communications array, and the AA crews abandoned their vechicles in an attempt to flee.

OOC:the destruction of the command bunker has been approved by Shekara

Highway to Ezri

Eli...Eli...Eli.

"Let's go boys," Sergeant Donnely said. Spc Hanson began creeping the Humvee forward, and the first forces from Guruda were going to make the push. Major Lawson's voice came over the radio. "Let's get 'em Alpha Company. You are going to be the first soldiers from 1st Infantry going into the combat zone. A couple of T-90's and Bradley's from 1st Armored are up ahead to give us cover, but that's gonna be it. You guys are trained to do what you have to do, there is a reason why you guys are going in before everyone else. The Humvee's will be the ones in first, Sergeant Donnely's team is the lead vehicle, and foot infantry will follow soon. Good luck guys, I'll see you in Ezri."

"Check that gun up there, Goldstein!" "Got it, Sarge! I'm ready." Goldstein volunteered to be the team's gunner when their squad was formed about a year ago. He had done very well in training, but like the rest of Alpha Company, he had never seen combat before. There were 5 T-90 MBT's in front of their Humvee, as well as 2 Bradley APC's. They would clear the way of hard targets while the infantry made their way into the city. Donnely looked back towards Hawthorne. "Hey, we should have air-support and artillery backing us up, is your radio set?" Hawthorne pointed to his back, "It's all good, Don." "Great, let me know on their status. There should be 4 Apache's on the way, and of course we have all that artillery set up. How about getting the most effecient fire support in the division today, shall we?" Rolston looked out the window, from his seat in the back. The T-90's were kicking up dust, and could see the city in the background. After 5 minutes, one of the cannons on the T-90 went off, and there was an explosion in the distance. "Damn, you guys see that?" Hanson said, trying to focus on the road. "Good view up here, Hanson. No targets yet though, I'm looking" Goldstein said from the gun up top. There were Virginian bombers flying up ahead visible to the team, and their hearts sank each time one began to go down. "It is not looking so good up there, I thought air support took out the anti-aircraft." One plane took a sudden turn towards the ground, and even though they couldn't see it, they could hear a loud explosion in the distance. "Do you think they did that on purpose, Sergeant?" Hawthorne said. "It kinda seemed like it. These guys are fighters, I gotta give it to that crew. But hey, I'm sure we would do the same if someone did that to our country, right?" "I lost a cousin in Portsmouth," Hanson said flatly. "What?" "He was vacationing there." "Hanson, why didn't you tell us this?" "I don't know, I, I, just never talked about it really. It's wierd." he said, never looking away from the road. "I'm sorry bud, you'll be fine. Just don't go doing anything stupid, we'll take care of you later."
