War Ministry, Glendale.

Postby Lewis with Harris » Sun Apr 17, 2011 4:46 pm

"Sire, we've been hit.....badly," the War Minister looked rather grim as he told the King the bad news.

"What happened to the Royal Air Force?"

"Destroyed already, during the naval battle, sir. What wasn't hit lacked any landing options, due to the surrender and scuttling of all of the carriers. They presumably ran out of fuel and crashed."

"That does it. The Royal Air Force has failed. Execute the entire general staff."

"Sire, that would be unwise. Many of those officers have fathers in Parliament."

"Dissolve Parliament, then."

"But that would mean elections."

"No, I mean abolish Parliament."

"Sire, that is unconstitutional."

"I AM the Constitution! Now, carry out my orders, or make your peace with God, because I will have you put to death for high treason!" the King thundered.

The War Minister simply walked out and left the King by himself, before running to his car and driving off to the rebel end of the capital.

"Hello, I am Lord Mark McMillan, and I wish to defect to the rebellion. I happen to be War Minister, so I know a lot about the Crown's situation, and how badly he is losing."

The sentry quickly got his superiors, up through the chain of command to the Duke himself, who rapidly decided to make this man one of his advisers. No sense wasting him, after all.

Private Communiqué from Alica Cermak, Secretary of State for Novikov

To King Duncan I of the Caledonian Kingdom of Lewis and Harris,

My government beseeches you to lay down your arms and open your government to talks with the Duke of Cawdor and the opposition. Your flagrant disregard for your own Parliament and Constitution has gained you no supporters and only serves to further entrench your opponents against you. Already your own cabinet is defecting, and support is waning for your cause. A great coalition is assembling to support the Duke of Cawdor and if you do not relent you will soon face impossible odds on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. End the bloodshed and preserve your honor through a peaceful settlement. Otherwise the consequences for your nation and for your own position will be irreversible.

Hoping you will see reason,
Alicia Cermak, Secretary of State for Novikov

COLONEL Alex Whitburn, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

"Okay, thank you." Whitburn said, leaving the shop and moving to a jeep. "Okay, there's a castle half a click up the road, so that's where we're heading. Let's move, Hatters." He ordered, and switched to his radio. "All units, regroup, we have new orders, regroup."

"Colonel, we have visuals inbound. It's a convoy, I can't see how many men. The best bet is to ambush them before they get to us, or retreat." A familiar voice sounded across the airwaves.

"Sergeant Major, gather the other two jeeps and set up defensive positions - we'll be there soon." The colonel ordered again, making a mark on the jeep. He began to draw a map of the village. "Okay, the three jeeps will set up defensive positions. We'll move around and flank to provide a surprise attack. Keep your eyes peeled, exchange fire only. Make sure there are no civilians in the way." He ordered, leading the convoy as his men returned.

Sector 4, Royal Militia Command.

Postby Lewis with Harris » Mon Apr 18, 2011 11:23 am

"Sir Charles, the enemy seems to be within range. Should we proceed with the ambush?" his aide asked him.

"Yes, commence the attack. I want these buggers driven out of my fief. It's us or them. No one aids a rebellion and gets away with it here," Sir Charles punctuated his point by slamming his fist down on his desk.

"Yes, Colonel."

The militia didn't have anything fancy available except for warm bodies and plenty of rifles. They did, however, fix bayonets, to indicate their determination to repulse the invasion by any means, including such nasty ones. It might be old-fashioned, but a knife could be an edge at close range, if it ever got to that point.

What artillery was available began firing off, mostly mortars and howitzers of older models. These were not the elite of the Royal war machine, by any means, but Colonel Sir Charles Kendrick was not going to lie down and accept a foreign invasion in support of rebels without at least fighting back with what he had on hand. WW1 tech it might be, but it was all that he could use.

First, of course, the snipers fired off their shots, and then the militia began a full-scale assault. They mostly tried to use numbers and instill fear by shrieking while they charged, with the noise of the bagpipes being blasted at the foe by means of bullhorns.

It might be a bloody mess, but Kendrick would resist however he could.

Parliament convenes, deposes Duncan I!

Postby Lewis with Harris » Sun May 01, 2011 6:48 pm

Under heavy guard by the rebel forces, Parliament has convened and deposed King Duncan I from his throne, proclaiming Henry Keith Argyll, Duke of Cawdor to be Henry I, King of Lewis with Harris.

The deposed King has fled Glendale with the remnant of his army, mostly private retainers, since the regular army has defected en masse to Cawdor.

The new monarch is set to be crowned on Tuesday in St. Andrew's Cathedral at noon.

Colonel Kendrick surrenders to the invaders.

Colonel Sir Charles Kendrick, hearing of the removal of the King by Parliament, has offered to surrender to the invasion force, rather than continue resistance to the will of the new king.

OOC: Sorry for the very late post - I've only just fixed my laptop.

SERGEANT MAJOR Liam Jackson, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

"Okay, rack 'em up! I want those M240's firing!" Jackson ordered, pulling the bolt on his machine gun and firing at the oncoming enemy. As he dropped the rifle, he pulled his binoculars out, and peered through. The smoke from the artillery and mortars was filling the area, and he had to get rid of them. "Base, this Papa-Two-Six, I need air-support, sector four, artillery sounding off, you can't miss it!"

"Papa-Two-Six, this is Base. We can provide back-up, although aerial support is limited to one attack helicopter. Zulu-Vigilante is currently being deployed. Keep them racked up, and hold out."

"Useless wanker!" He shouted, grabbing the M240 and preparing to fire. "Colonel, how're you doing?"

"We're flanking them! We're moving as fast as we can, setting up positions! Keep it up, Sergeant!" The radio crackled, the constant burst of firing over. The current situation was that the attack helicopter was packing enough to destabilize the whole line of artillery - all they had to do now was hold out until it came.

Official Note to Dimonic forces.....

Postby Lewis with Harris » Wed May 11, 2011 8:31 am

.....now that King Henry I has replaced King Duncan I, we request that you redirect energies as soon as possible toward capturing and defeating what is left of his private army of retainers.

Also Colonel Kendricks has sworn fealty to the new King and wishes a cease-fire. He will offer no more resistance to your landing.

Meanwhile, at the coast....

"Alright, boys, let's signal them and lay down our weapons. Cease resistance," Colonel Kendricks told his men.

The militia simply dropped their guns and stood in place, no longer advancing. The artillery ceased fire as well.

SERGEANT MAJOR Liam Jackson, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

"Alpha squad is Oscar Mike!" Jackson shouted, holding up his M240, grabbing the grip that was screwed onto the rails located by the handguard. He had been counting the bullets available to him - he had seventeen left. "Why the hell have they stopped firing, coporal?!"

"I ain't got anything, sir! I'm trying to recall to base to hold off that support, but I'm not too sure we'll get there in time." The coporal called back, chattering down to the radio as he followed the sergeant.

"Alright, everyone in the jeeps! We'll get-" The sergeant began, looking at the militia that were standing in place. "Hang on. Get me that megaphone." He ordered, reaching for the object and grabbing it. After slinging the machine gun around him, he switched the megaphone on, and began to speak. "This is Sergeant Major Jackson - stand down, and we will not fire. We will need to see your commanding officer in order to find terms of assisstance." He spoke, and waited for the reply.

COLONEL Alex Whitburn, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

"Base, this is Whitburn. We need to halt Zulu Vigilante - they've ceased firing. We're approaching a group of militia now. Base, copy."

"Whitburn, Base copies all. Zulu Vigilante is being recalled to scout the area for any hostilities. Until we can get a firebase up and running, you're on your own." Base replied. Whitburn sighed, as the group of jeeps rolled up to the group. Stopping a few meters away, he jumped out, without his rifle. He showed his hands, and approached.

"Colonel Whitburn, of Dimoniquid. I need to speak with your CO."

Colonel Kendrick

Postby Lewis with Harris » Wed May 11, 2011 10:19 pm

Colonel Sir Charles Kendrick was notified and hurried over to meet the Dimonic commander.

"I am Colonel Sir Charles Kendrick, Commander-in-Chief of the local militia. King Duncan I has been deposed and King Henry I has ordered me to stand down, so I have. I am only obeying my new sovereign," Kendrick grimaced, as he would secretly have preferred continuing the battle. He had so many plans, all wrecked by Parliament's decision.

"We're here to set up a main base. Right now we have an FOB about twenty odd miles inland, and we're hoping to get a fixed military base to begin our... operation." The colonel said, trying not to give much detailing on the operation. "Is there a peice of land in which we can build a base?" He asked, taking off his helmet and setting his radio down to his neck.

COLONEL Alex Whitburn, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

Whitburn didn't expect the militia to be under his command, although he took it. "Base, this is Whitburn. We have a rally point at a local castle in within the fourth sector. We have temporary command over militia, and conducting negotiations for outlook over base."

"Colonel, this is base. Keep sharp, support and second group is being relocated to FOB Pheonix. Will send convoy once confirmed." His radio crackled. Whitburn sighed, and looked at the Chief.

"Okay, sir, lets get going." He said, and began to get the group to travel to the castle.

MAJOR Sarah Phillips, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

Sarah was a looking at the convoy infomation. Three Humvees, each armed with heavy M2 Browning machine guns, armoured, and all terrain. There was one M1 Abrams tank in the middle, holding an M134 minigun, and a M256 smoothbore gun, and another . She was currently checking out the rifles in the crudley built armoury - since half of the battalion had newer rifles, her half had been stuck with ACR Bushmasters until the defence budget had bulked up a little bit.

She had put an ACOG sight on it, followed by a rail and a foregrip to help he accuracy. As she left the room, she looked around. Surrounded by a few dozen privates, coporals, and four sergeants, she wandered what had happened to the system of 'best of the best'. "Let's move out! Convoy is Oscar Michael!" She ordered, rolling up her sleeves and putting helmet on.

Colonel Kendrick inwardly grimaced, but did his duty and led the former enemy to the castle, briefing him en route about the strength of local militia....or lack thereof. The militia badly needed modernizing, but he suspected that at least would change with the new King. Still.....foreign domination wasn't his favorite idea in the world.

Dimoniquid was preparing an assault. They were going to grab, or capture, Duncan. First, they had to gather the intelligence in order to strike the compound. They knew that it was in glendale, and they also knew that there wa a sudden mass in a specific place in that area. The next step was to distinguish details. That meant how many troops, details on the compound, and how to plan the attack.

They had a lot of troops at their disposal - although they were pretty sure there were some people in Lewis with Harris that were on Duncan's side, so they had to minimize the amount of troops as well as keeping it strong enough to attack and secure the area. Once they had the information on the compound, they could strike - as soon as they got permission. The next few days would see the progression of a military base, the retraining of militia from Dimonicist troops, and then the capture of Duncan.

Chatter in the war room was that a special forces group from abroad was about to conduct an operation that would probably end the war once and for all - although that was just one option, since it would also involve Dimonicist and Caledonian involvement.

COLONEL Alex Whitburn, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.
Alex had been trying to negotiate a deal in order to establish a military base, without blurting any details that they were going to assault Duncan's compound. For making a military base, they were willing to help train militia and equip them with some up-to-date weapons and equipment.

Colonel Kendrick was more than willing to help with the training, as he could see that his militia were badly unprepared for war. Still, he hoped that he did not suffer any retaliation from Duncan, should he return to the throne. He also offered to help induct peasants and freedmen into the militia, as they would be sympathetic to the rebellion, of which he was now a part (or was it a rebellion anymore, since Parliament had deposed King Duncan in favor of King Henry).

Weeks had passed - the Dimonicist base had been built, filling in 37'500 square meters of land, involving a runway, medical facilities, training facilities for the training of militia, and a headquarters for further operations. Training would comprise of learning how to fire a weapon properly, learning about different types of weapons, and learning about tactics. The Red Hatters would be given the role as their mentors, since they had the most experience at being at war, most of the soldiers involved serving in the army, navy, or air-force for five years.

Forward Operating Bases had been established near the beach, and one just outside Glendale, so they could keep an eye on a specific compound if anything were to happen. New intelligence had been gathered on Duncan's whereabouts - a small compound inside Glendale had shown a lot of troops moving around, creating some suspicion amongst some of the higher ranking officers. Colonel Whitburn was now commander in chief of the current operation - with Luietenant-General Barcon and Admiral Pastaeux looking over him to help make sure the right decision was being made. Supplies were sent over by plane with the demolition of the airforce, and everything was running smoothly.

COLONEL Alex Whitburn, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

Alex was pleased. Not only did they managed to secure a plot of land for a military base, but they may just win this war. Radio chatter had been quiet on the sqwacks, so all they had to do would be to investigate any suspicious activity involving the loyalist forces, and raiding building in which intelligence shows that people are being sold as slaves - but that was only part of his day. Right now, he was unpleased. Some loyalist forces that were declared to Duncan had ambushed a platoon of soldiers help train a dozen militia on storming a suspected slavers auction.

"Okay, squad, listen up. Chatter shows that we've got a half a platoon and a medical team pinned down with some militia that were trying to clear out a suspected slavery auction for their first experience of the war. Unfortunatly, intel was off and they're stuck inside the building.

You've got the job of killing the loyalists, and evacuating the area for special forces to collect and contain any enemy munitions and intelligence. Questions?"

"Colonel, how many enemies are we facing?" A voice called out. He was obviously new to the army, since he looked young, and his helmet barely fitted him.

"Kid, we don't know. Their radioman got cut off while in mid-transmission. Two CAT's, running low on ammunition. Half will attack the loyalists from the rear, while the other half will secure the building. Sergeant-Major, code word is Texas. They'll reply with Avalanche. Once you secure the area, call in for immediate evacuation. A C130 will be on standby for support with a few special toys." Alex replied, folding his arms. Now that he had been set a the head of operations, he had been tired of all the questions, and tired of the lack of experienced soldiers - although they had to do. "Let's move it, people. Try not to die.

SERGEANT MAJOR Liam Jackson, Red Hatters, 3rd Strike Battalion, Sector 4.

The squad had been moving by foot. Liam had been holding the M240 again - along with a foregrip, and a holographic sight. Their destination was coming up in a few hundred meters, so they had to be ready to split up and secure the building. "Alright, team two, start splitting up! Get some eyes on those buggers! Team one, follow me and head for the building!" Liam shouted down the radio, hearing the crackle of 'yes sir' and 'affirmative' notes on his frequency. He turned around, and looked at the long line of people.

His half were up by the building in minutes. Two shots had been fired, both missing their target. "Corner, clear." A person said, pointing their ACR around the corner and checking the expanse of forest.

"Check for a door." Liam ordered, bounding to the next corner. The building was massive - something between a large house, and a warehouse. Upon finding the door, he checked to see if it was open. "Texas!" He shouted, pulling out his pistol.

No reply.

"Texas!" He shouted again, slamming his fist onto the door. The call had been heard - the faint cry of 'avalanche' had just made it through the door, and it had clambered open with a squeak. "Where's your CO?" Liam asked, holstering his pistol and entering the building. The medic was grabbing some gauze for a wounded soldier that had blood pouring from his shoulder from where he had been shot at. The wounded soldier pointed to a woman in the next room, slightly shorter than Liam himself, looking at some plans. "Major Phillips. You're knight in shining armour has arrived."
