"No need to worry, sirs," Nicolo replied kindly, bowing to the two, "your presence here is much appreciated, for our situation has become somewhat tense in the past year. I admit, I don't know the full details. After all, I'm a doctor, not a politician, much as my namesake indicated otherwise, but I'll try my best to give you an insight over the situation. For now, please follow me. I'll take you to the lounge where you could wait for the opening ceremony to begin. I'll explain the details on the way."

With that, he quietly escorted the two into the convention center. By now, most of the preparations had been completed and the decorations and reception had been set up. However, with the Agarian staff still grounded back home, both Amythysian and Wolfen staff were hastily taking their place. Predictably, most of the Wolfen replacements were also soldiers, given their task of security in the premise.

"As you may have already known, the war started eleven years ago after an unprovoked attack by the Commonwealth on imperial soil. The invasion came just a week after a horrific arson attack which wiped out most of the royal family. You can imagine how many conspiracy theorists were quick to point fingers at Amythyst for instigating the arson and assisting the perpetrators. As a result, most of the province of Belka had been devastated by battle and winter attrition. The turning point came after the empire launched a counterstrike straight into the Amythysian territory of Halkenginia, the main staging post for their war effort. This ultimately forced them straight into the defensive, abandoning Belka and left to recapture lost ground. What ensued was six years of shifting tides and lengthy stalemates. In the end, when the Bruhl Armistice was initiated, only the northern half of Halkenginia was recaptured by the Amythysians. The south, to this day, remains an occupied territory under our administration.

The empire believes it is their sovereign right to defend their homeland, and that Amythyst must be made to make amends for the destruction enacted on the homeland. Officially, the Kaiser is demanding that the Commonwealth either pay a sum of three trillion USD, maybe more, for war damages, or cede the entire territory of Halkenginia to their control, including the north. The main belief is that we, as a nation, had been victims of an act of aggression by a state we treated as a friend for many years. We actually thought for once we've buried the old grudges left behind after our independence from Amythyst three centuries ago. Guess we were wrong.

As for Amythyst, the main issue they had was our refusal to return southern Halkenginia after the armistice. They've been demanding for years for the return of the occupied territories to their rule, and had repeatedly refused to pay what they claim to be 'extreme' amounts of reparations. The sum they offered, four hundred million USD, is downright puny in my opinion. Never mind you can't put a price on every life they took, but the extensive damages they had inflicted would have warranted a much greater cost. But they insisted we take some, if not equal responsibility for extending the war to their nation.

Make that what you will," Nicolo stated, hiding his mounting rage behind his stern expression, "but this is what I believe... our people paid in blood for the Fatherland. What we're offering to them isn't anywhere close to a surrender document as they claim. Their nation is already large enough, and they're having immense issues controlling it right now. If not for the rebellions and insurgencies festering out of control in their homeland, they probably wouldn't even be here."

As he reverted back to his calm demeanour, he said, "OK, now that that's aside... I've no issue with mediators trying to gain some concessions out of the deal. This is a natural case for any third party overseeing a deal to look for an incentive. To be frank, I actually like your honesty. Now then," he said as he reached the door of the lounge, "I'll have a room ready at the hotel momentarily. I'll ask for some staff to carry your luggage up. Today won't be very eventful. Just an opening ceremony and dinner tonight. The fun will starts tomorrow, though, so take note. Someone, either me or the person I'm stepping in for, will let you know later on.

For now, anything else you'd like to ask?"

Walter smiled, "Excellent...though I was speaking more of you and your kin, I would not deny that New Amerik likes to help herself, even as she helps others. Nonetheless, that is not my focal point for now...and no. No more questions, I believe."

He thought to himself as he watched the others arrive about the words of Machievelli. Personally, he too thought the sum of three trillion was an inordinate amount for territory and for a peace treaty - even his own country's price for raising the dead was merely in the billions - and filed away the rage hidden but just slightly detectable in their guide's voice when he spoke of the war and what had been done for later. There was some deep blood here...much of it bad.

He nodded to the Kipperians as Reeder gave a wave. "Hey, hey Nigel!" Reeder spoke, happy to see the man, "Good to see you here! I'm here on official government bodguard business...heh. Ain't nothing going to keep me from guarding ol' Walter here with my life - and boy, I seem to have a lot of that going on these days, eh?"

"I must agree, Violence has increased slightly in recent times. Something really big may be about to go down" Sir Nigel said "But what do you make of this whole Mess? To say its a right mix up would be understating"

While Walter took the time to observe the other diplomats present, preferring to glean as much information as he could of their likely stances and personalities, Reeder moved closer to the Floor Kippers group. Responding to Nigel's query, he thought for a minute...before shrugging.

"Frankly, Nigel, I'm not entirely clear on this one way or another. All I know came from the briefing...and boy, was it brief...and what our guide's informed us. From what I can tell, we got a classic case of two sides hating each other for reasons too convoluted to solve simply, and one side finally unable to hold up their hatred against internal problems."

Reeder said a quick, "Oh, no. Busy with security matters recently, you know how stuff goes. Internal Affairs and all that," before pondering exactly how to approach New Amerik's involvement in this course of events. Certainly, the Floor Kippers showing up on the opposite side was a rather unpleasant, if not entirely blindsided, fact.

Eventually, he pieced together his words and spoke carefully, "You could say that we, too, are here because of Wolfenium. The Holy Technocracy has had some contact before in the past, and would be very...interested in future diplomatics with their Empire."

When Gravine entered the room, the first thing that caught his eye was the large number of chairs, and the interesting tree in the centre. The low lighting doing wonders for the faint headache that lingered in the back of his head from his bumpy ride over. He saw that a few other diplomats were already seated, but he did not introduce himself formally, as they were in discussion and seemed to pay no mind to them. So he contented himself to bow in their direction, and turned to the Grandtarian diplomats with a smile.

"Good sirs," he began, "would you give me the honour of your company while we wait?"

"Of course," Nodded Edward, choking back his pride, and they took their seats, "Here, have some wine, it cannot hurt."

As the group seated itself, and a servant came by to offer refreshments. One glass of wine for the each of them. Gravine stood memorized for a bit, still finding it so odd that one may find alcohol so readily in other nations, where it was- literally- a chemical weapon in his home. To the solarian race alcohol was a poison, as such it was banned in their empire, but there was no law saying that Gravine could not consume it. He felt a bit green again at the prospect. He knew full well that it was not dangerous to him as a human, and that in most other nations this was seen as a delicacy, but an entire life of considering it a poison nonetheless had affected him deeply. He lifted the glass carefully under the scrutinizing gaze of the heavy-drinking Tarians, the smell of it filling his nostrils with sweetness. He took a slight sip of the stuff, and nearly choked. Even with the tiny sips he had learned from the solarian gentry, it was far more poignant than he first imagined it would be. He was able to gulp it down and keep his stature, but barely, and he was sure that the Tarians knew it by the expressions on their faces. He set the glass down and regained his composure, although the blood rushing to his cheeks certainly did not help, and tried to change the subject.

"So, good sirs," he began, "You say you are men of the Grandtarian Parliament?"

Rebecca listened intently to the names of the other girls, smiling to them and nodding when they confirmed who they were. She even wrote all their names down, wanting to remember them for her report to the Tsarina, as she would like to notion how diffrent the reserves were in the Wolfenium Army then in the Kylarnatian one, not necassarily suggesting that the Imperium Army was more professional, it was just that everything was so diffrent there, and the more they could learn about an allies army the better, as they said. Though, one thing she would have to crudely point out is how they definatly were easily distracted, though they shouldn't reflect all Wolfenium Personell.

Before being pulled apart by the girls on where to go, Rebeccas attentioned turned to the women who now opened the door of the stopped car, leaning in and messing with the girls minds with French add-ons, though she didn't continue on into full setences. Rebecca was pleased to hear of Captain Greens involvement in her apperance - this could make her movements more smooth, as if she had been continuedly led by the girls she felt she would be, quite frankly, all over the place. Seeing the womens attention turn to her, and hearing her voice, she smiled and upon finishing her hand shake with the women, answered her. "Imperial Ambassador Rebecca Hanover, Your Highness, if that is the correct address I should give you madame. I would converse with you in such a beautiful language, but I'm afraid we do indeed have things to get on with. If you could, I would indeed like to be taken to the Baroness immediatly, like I said to the Colonel back at the Airport, on Official Business for my soverign the Caesar."

Stepping out of the car and standing over the Countess, shadowing her as she looked out onto the Convention Center, which was a pretty beautiful building in terms of architecture, and its position would be a great attraction to tourists, business's and unions alike wishing to host a confrence. It would be a great profit to anyone who gained ownership, be that a particular nation or the entire region splitting up the profit. But not wanting to dally over it any longer and just taking some notes of what she saw, she then waited to be taken along, hopefully to the Baroness. She now clutched the personally-addressed envelope from the Tsarina more tightly now.

Casino Land, West Agaria

Entering the airspace of casino land is the Minrozian royal jet whose passengers are delegates to the peace conference. The plane has just recently got out of the green swirling portal which allows the transport to get their destination faster, due to Minroz being a multiverse dominion. Technically the delegates are to participate in the conference and at the same time discussion for Minroz’s plans for Astol. However some of the delegates aren’t happy with this.

“By the gods; this is bloody waste of time, these insolent savages (Astoli) should acknowledge our supremacy instead. Your highness, can you change your father’s mind about it, I can’t help but find his order ridiculous.” The glasses white hair woman named Minle in government official costumecoloured in orange & black scheme with silver trims.

“I think so too big sister, why do we have to follow this; our armies are ready to crush them to smithereens.” The mannamed Lao said wearing the same dress as the white hair woman. “I cannot stand this; I rather drink laxatives than to bow to these infidels.”

In front of them are the two Holy royals meaning they’re children of the Holy Emperor himself, Crown Prince Ozgol Merrmesh and Crown Princess Aigiarn Merrmesh. The prince Ozgol is wearing the royal dressin orange & black scheme with gold trimmings while his beloved elder sister Aigiarn is wearing the black army uniform; a dress reserved for high-ranking army official and her rank indicates she’s a general.

Ozgol look in annoyance at the two in front of him; massaging his temple; even though they’re his close friends but he barely tolerate their imperial arrogance.

“Minle, Lao can you quit whining; pretend it’s the meetings between the government and our vassals if it makes you feel better. My father, His Holiness clearly decree we must attend and what he said is simple that a child can understand; look, you’re not used to deal with outsiders all the time.” Ozgol said crossing hands like a stern parent.
Another man named Shao who is wearing also the government official clothes like his colleagues decides to pipe up.

“Are you sure, your grace. Both sides will not react well to our growing military presence in their world. The purpose of it is to build a buffer to prevent the Xorans and Omaskans from getting any funny ideas, but for limited time. Also what his majesty wants us is to build relationships between our fair Empire and the respective nations of Astol and... Other nations.”
Ozgol sighs and reply “True, but my sister and I don’t believe in using military force as form of diplomacy, it may work for our ancestors in the past until the Great Iclamian war which made us realise it does not always work, though I agree to an extent.”

“Aru, well-said your highness.” The tanned womannamed Vei qu spoke up. Vei-qu is the captain of the Yeni-zeris, an Elite All-woman Household Army of the Holy Emperor. “No matter how small or large the nation is, we should respect their sovereignty, like His Holiness said ‘To be a good person, you should respect their dignity and understand them.’ Our empire is built on shrewd alliances and free trade and also liberty.”

Lao retort “Well, most of it was done by military force. So I can’t see any reasons not to use our big guns on these savages (Astoli).”

Vei nodded solemnly “True, but it doesn’t’ mean we use force all the time.”

Everyone look at the Crown Princess. Shao asks “Your excellency, your thoughts on it?” Aigiarn was closing her eyes during mid-flight and looks as she’s thinking. Suddenly they heard the snore coming from the Princess made them astonish. She opens her eyes and yawn.

“Are we there yet?” The silver hair girl said sleepily and her scarred face glance at the window “Looks like we’re there already.”

Minle looked aghast and slap her head “You majesty, Aigiarn. We’re discussing our plans regarding the savages.” Lao nodded in agreement while Shao and Vei sigh.

Aigiarn casually waved her hand off. “Relax, we’re meeting civilised people…not cannibal islander tribes. Minle, Lao; in my experience, people don’t like to be treated like a dirt so it’s better off we don’t insult them for slight ridicule.” The princess explains. “However since Lolon’s reckless actions (See Shadows of Northern Frontier) have caused the uproar in the Kurultai (Minrozian Parliament), especially the Truthmakers. But let’s see what the Wolfeners and Amythysians have what to say about us once we meet them.”

Ozgol nodded “Indeed big sister. However I’m afraid we’re going to meet our contenders (Xorans) in this conference; our good friend Valpa and his bratty brother Jinseng; also not to mention the head of the State arms and the Minister of Internal Affairs joining them in this.”

Tense silence filled the air for the moment. The Xorans yet to be name Teoc who is the Owner and boss of Helshvari State Arms and known to be manipulative and one of Valpa’s trusted half-brother while Mecatl is most unscrupulous man Xoraine ever had for a prince; owning a large harems and penchant for tortures made him the most unpopular Helshvari even the government is very concerned about it. Valpa and Teoc tried their best not to associate with him but knew they need him because he’s good at his job as the Minister of Internal Affairs and Director of Section Zero, Xoraine secret police.

“Well, ladies and gentlemen; it’s off for an adventure.” Aigiarn quip as the plane descends at the airport.

Hours later at the resort world entrance

“Dewa, it’s too hot for my taste.” Lao moan

“I don’t think so…it’s alright for me.” Ozgol said

The Minrozian delegates accompanied by their Yeni-zeri bodyguards in black suits have arrived at the resort world; they finished booking the hotel beforehand and not noticing strange looks from the locals about bizarre dresses the foreigners wear. They were dropped off by their limos waiting for them at the airport amidst the complaint Minle and Lao made about their high expectations.

“You’re right little brother; the heat is not suited for my beauty and our delicate nobility from the Holy capital.” Minle agrees as Aigiarn turn her scarred face towards the official.

“Bear with it! This place is nice for holidays. We can enjoy it as well as chatting with the locals.” The crown princess chimes.

Minle and Lao frown “Unlike you; your highnesses. We’re not soldiers and our bodies aren’t built for this.” Lao groan
“Not for me young one; this is nothing because I exercise everyday whiles you waltzing the Kurultai offices.” Shao quip as Vei nodded agreed.
Ozgol look around the place. “Hmm, I guess we’re on time before the conference.” He muses

“Where in Khumaak’s voids are the receptionists; I bet they chicken off finding out our Empire are no match for them.” Lao said

“Not quite Lao, I think I see people coming to greet us.” Aigiarn watches some individuals heading towards them. The Yeni-zeris were readying their daggers in case of close-combat.

Outside the Lounge, Resort World Casino Land Convention Center - Grandtarian and Cilisti Delegations

As Eva and her maid made her way out of the lounge, her first thought was to return to the ballroom, but seeing the Floor Kipperans and Amerikans at the side, she had the urge to question their guide, the kindly doctor, of his - and the Amythysian's - progress. Still, she could always ask later, when it's convenient for both of them.

"Wonder what the guy does up there," she mused with her arms crossed, "he better be good..."

Entrance, Resort World Casino Land Convention Center - Kylarnatian Delegation
"Oh, you flatter me, Madame Hanover," Stellar remarked, waving her hand as she giggled sheepishly, "although, to be honest, I prefer 'Miss'. For some reason, 'Madame' seem to make me feel old. Not the most amusing way to address a young lady in an English-speaking environment. I meant no disrespect, really. It's just that I tend to spend a lot of time with vulgar young men who enjoy questioning my youth."

"Does that include His Majesty," Yui cut in excitedly, "because that sounded very suspicious." Fortunately, her friends managed to pull her away, hands wrapped around her mouth as they watched Stellar's beaming smile creak out of shape at a corner. Stellar was not one to enjoy having her youth questioned, mainly because she did not have 'much' youth left.

"But not to worry, Madame Hanover," assured Stellar, getting back on track, "I'll take you to her right away! Please follow me!"

With that, she began leading the group down the winding hallways into the ballroom.

Merlion Ballroom, Resort World Casino Land Convention Center - Kylarnatian Delegation

After a short walk into the convention center, the group finally reached the entrance to the ballroom.

"Be sure to keep the ballroom decor a secret, Oui," Stellar asked the diplomat and her guides, "I want to be sure they are wowed by the presentation. I want the ceremony to be magnifiques!"

"You mean you're supposed to be here?" Asuza questioned, "don't tell you're skivin-"

"We're almost done anyway," Stellar interjected, feeling perturbed by the girls' interruptions, "who do you think I am, L'empereur?

Well, then," she quipped, winking her eye playfully, "hold your breath." With one full swing, the woman pushed the doors open.

Inside was a vast ballroom, decorated form head to toe in white. The ornate chandelier gleamed with pride as white roses adorn the walls and roof. Workers were still busily hanging streamers up as a young bespectacled girl, wearing a yellow construction hat, carefully made her inspection.

"Yoohoo," called the blonde 'French'woman, "Your Excellency! You have a visitor!"

"Say what," blurted the girl as she turned around to face the group. To Stellar's amusement, she watched as the baroness panic in sight of the diplomat as she rushed over to guide them out.

"I'm sorry," she apologized as she hastily nudged out, closing the door behind her, “but the ballroom's not ready yet. The opening ceremony is only due to start in two hours. You should stay in the lounge in the meantime.”

“But Your Excellency,” Stellar exclaimed, “Madame Hanover specifically asked for you. She said she has official business with you by order of the Kylarnatian Ceaser, Tsarina Silvier. I believe you have some idea on it.”

“What?” Hilda blurted, looking at the diplomat, “is that true, Miss Hanover-Oh, please forgive me. I forgot to introduce myself. Baroness Hilda Reia von Wolfenstein, sister to Emperor Karl Franz of the Empire of Wolfenium. May I ask what kind of business, Miss Hanover?”

Entrance, Resort World Casino Land Convention Center - Minrozian Delegation

“This is waste of time,” cursed an Amythysian cadet, dressed in a black uniform as she trailed behind her superior, “why are we stuck here doing babysitting for a bunch of outsiders!? Agaria is a large enough nation. Can't those valets take off at another part of the coast – like the west.”

“Now, now, Sarah,” calmed the young man, his white, immaculate custom uniform a clear indication of his affluence, “you have to understand. Much of Agaria's west coast is part of the Venusiyan Emirates, and as per their culture, remains largely undeveloped to this day. Even aircraft from their fellow Agarian states are not permitted to land, not that there are many landing sites in Venusiya to start with. The only exception to the rule, ironically, is Wolfenium. Odd, considering they had much less in common with these devout elves than either us or the rest of the (Agarian) Federation. Well, I guess it's just politics.”

“And of all the people we have to play host to,” Sarah mused, “how dare those Minroz parasites show their face. I'm not sure what Commissar Tsepesh told you that might have attracted your interest, but I get the feeling we're making a wasted trip.”

“Well, he was working against very, very terrible circumstances,” the man affirmed, “you can't fault him for being caught up in that mess in the Frontier. Still, if not for him, we would never have found out about those infidels burrowing in those mountains. The Oprichnina had been shamed long enough thanks to those socialist rebels. If anyone in the Commonwealth ever found out that a terrorist operation of that scale was being pulled right inside our lands... I have to commend the old man Ourumov for once. Kind of saved my hide. I actually lost count the number of people in the military that want me out.”

“They're just jealous, Minister Scirocco,” Sarah stated, “you need not fear anything from them.”

Amused by the girl's naïve comment, Scirocco could not help but stop at the corridor, leaning close to the girl's blushing face as he assured, “don't worry about me, Sarah. Dealing with these blue blooded insects is nothing more than a flick of the wrist. Problem now is how to deal with the Empire's arrogant hawks. Among other things, of course...”

As he looked over the entrance, he soon spotted the delegation he was told to lead. It was not usual for someone like him to take orders from the Tsarina, but for once, he would make that exception.

Watching the Minrozian guards ready themselves, the man simply raised his hand and stated in his usual cool, “no need to fret, Your Highnesses. There are no enemies to deal with here. I believe it's pointless to fight on with your nation over a small trading post. After all, we both wish to work together for a greater good, no?”

Clasping his hands together, he introduced himself, “in any case, welcome to Casino Land, Your Highnesses. Rest assured, your escorts will be arriving in due time. As soon as the typhoon over Agaria blows over, they'll be able to send their reception to guide you. For now, the Tsarina has instructed me to take over that role for now.

My name is Paptimus Scirocco, Minister of Internal Affairs for the Commonwealth of Amythyst, and also Director of Operations for the Amythysian state security service, the Oprichnina. Oh, and this is one of my guards, Senior Sergeant Sarah Zabiarov,” he greeted as he showed them to his apprehensive cadet, “may I know your names, esteemed guests?”

Aigiarn nodded and signalled the bodyguards to stand down. The Yeni-zeri captain Vei waved her hand effectively making the guards relaxed and sheaths their weapons but kept their stern caution toward the Amythysians. The Children of the Holy Emperor decides to bow their heads first then introducing themselves.

“Crown Princess Aigiarn of the Merrmesh clan, Daughter of His Imperial Holiness, General of the Imperial Territorial Forces and head of the Third Army; and this is my little brother.” Aigiarn said then gesturing to Ozgol at the last part.

“Crown Prince Ozgol Merrmesh, Son of His Imperial Holiness, Major of the Imperial Territorial Army, Eleventh Army, nice to meet you.” The crown prince said automatically as it’s a protocol; however hint of gruffness evident in his voice. He clearly felt in his gut not to trust Scirocco but relents for now.

The Yeni-zeri captain brought her right hand over heart in salute cheerfully “Captain Vei-qu, leader of the bodyguard cadre as you see now.” She announced

The pudgy Minrozian man smiles and bow in respect “Shao Wazir Kholu, Royal caretaker of their highnesses and advisor.”
As the remaining turns to the other siblings specifically Lao and Minle; they grunted reluctantly and then introduce.

“Hmph! Countess Minle Song, Minister of Culture; actually Vice-Minister of Culture in your terms savages! I’m also a noble of our glorious Holy Capital; Dalaem Volvoshyan.” Minle said in haughty tone as she pushes up her glasses smile smugly.

Her little brother adjusts his dress and look up-nosed “Baron Lao Song, Minle’s little brother; Vice-Minister of Justice in your term for the sake of convenience… for your inferior brains.” Lao burst into laughter at the last part and his elder sister joined in the laugh.

But the rest of their fellow delegates aren’t amused, Vei shook her head in dismay and Shao face-palm. Only the glares from Ozgol and Aigiarn stop the Song siblings from laughing further as they decided to compose themselves in their dignified manner as soon as possible. However Lao and Minle looked haughty at their attempt insult at Amythysians.

Aigiarn sighs and look at Scirocco and Sarah and bow apologetically. “Please excuse them for their rudeness; they never travelled outside of Minroz at all so they’re not used to the outside world.” The crown princess said.

Shao adds “Many People from the Holy Capital (Dalaem Volvoshyan), regardless of species and class are known to be arrogant.”

Ozgol waved his hand “Besides…they’re advisors and good friends. His Holiness the Emperor specifically pick them to escort us, even I cannot fathom why. Anyway please don’t always address me and sister your highness and royal stuff all the time, call us by our first name or addressed military rank.”

The Song siblings looked shock “Ozzie, what’re you thinking! Who knows what the savages might say will melt your ears upon them saying your name. It’s deplorable, I’d say.” Minle frantically said but spoke no further upon Aigiarn raised hand.

The Crown Princess turns to look at the Amythysians before her. “Sorry about that; any inquiries for us. Minister Scirocco.”

Scirocco remained unfazed at the Songs' attempts to provoke him. He had seen such stuck up individuals on a regular basis both within his business dealings and within the royal court. Years of experience as a wealthy oil magnate had made him a master of calm. It was his levelheadedness that would prove valuable not just in his ongoing counterinsurgency against anti-government forces, but also with his dealings with the nobles he had to work with. Raising his hand to stop his outraged sergeant, he answered, "not to worry, kind sirs and madams. I hold no offense. Trust me, I've learnt to be a more accepting person since my days as an executive for Yupiter Gaz. In case you're wondering, it's one of the foremost conglomerates in fossil fuel production and refining in the region.

Of course, the current crisis plaguing our nation has prompted me to join the Oprichnina as an officer, all the better to protect the crown against the vile traitors that seek to bring Amythyst into anarchy.

In any case," he asked, "follow me to the lounge. There will be other delegations waiting for the start of the opening ceremony there. You can enlighten my queries on the way."

With that, he and his guard led them into the corridor as he posed his queries to the Crown Prince and Princess. From the initial appearance alone, he could already tell the rumours about the Iclamians' sense of superiority were true - for some people at least. He would not deny that there would be a few levelheaded folks among them, but from what he heard from his intelligence reports, both from his own men and from the Chastika (Amythysian Foreign Intelligence), many Iclamians, at least their leaders tend to view themselves far above foreigners. He would have owed it to their advanced technology, given the same could be said for themselves. But Scirocco was not one to judge so quickly. He would have to observe closely.

"Well, then, Sirs, Madams" he asked the Minrozians, "perhaps we could start with your intentions in this conference? I'd like to know your opinions regarding the state of affairs in Astol, specifically Amythyst. A general view of what you expect out of this peace summit would suffice.

Of course, I do have another query... I understand my leader, Tsarina Alice, sent an invitation to your government to discuss various international issues with states across various worlds. One issue I'm particularly interested in is regarding our peace talks with the Empire of Wolfenium. I believe you heard about them too - how they brought in a rival from your world to have a 'balance of opinions' in the summit. The main aim is usually to bring in two nations of each world to pose their views, but matters sometimes don't go as they appear. To be honest, there are members within our government who are quite upset about rumours regarding your involvement in the Northern Frontier. Although... I didn't expect the Empire to take two step further... I'd like to know your views regarding our conflict with Wolfenium, as well as your views on the proposed peace deal. I'm sure this knowledge would prove beneficial in our upcoming negotiations with the Empire.

Of course, if there are any queries you wish to pose, please, feel free to ask. I'll be happy to oblige."

There was something ominous about Scirocco that Ozgol probably sensed. Even to his own colleagues, he was an enigma beyond recognition. A gifted ethnic Sapphirian hailing from the frigid eastern steppes of Ilyavia, Scirocco was a man of many talents. Armour design, Mobile Suit piloting and immense psychic powers were just some of the skills he employ in his profession as head of state security. What propelled his meteroic rise to power, however, was his keen intellect and sheer charisma, allowing him to easily manipulating the people around him. Women, for one thing, were the most susceptible to his charm and gentlemanly grace, even without his use of psychic abilities. But while his prowess befitted his role as an officer in the Oprichnina, his goals and ideology did not. There were many within the leadership who doubt his loyalty to the Tsarina and the government. But his contract to the Oprichnina, handwritten in his own crimson blood, seemed to show otherwise. Time would tell whether or when this renegade would show his true colours. But for now, it seemed that he would stay his hand, content at serving his oath to the Commonwealth.

“Hmph, Ok Mr Platypus (Scirocco) my opinion of this world is nothing but in sorry pitiful state full of barbarians in need of enlightment guided by the strong hand of my motherland.” Lao remark pushing up his glasses made some of his fellow delegates rolled their eyes while his sister Minle beam with pride.

“Well, I’m not surprise with the Xorans meaning they’re pretty desperate; right now they’re pillaging nearby nations in our world in an attempt to gain more resources to solve the economic problems and spent most of their loot for their defence budgets in trying to get the edge over us.” The crown princess said smirking playing with her bangs “Okay, then; to answer your first question. Personally I believe the peace deals will succeed soon; because Astol should take a breather from another war for once. Especially giving time for your Amythyst to fix things at home and I think your country is really seriously in need of reformation; if the nation’s government is very corrupt, that nation will walk on the brink of collapse. However my little brother tends to be more serious in anything.”

Ozgol crossed his arms frowning at the Amythysians before him “I am sceptical about the summit, I don’t think this peace conference will pass; why...there’re some elements on both sides who doesn’t want the peace treaty to succeed and prefer going to war. I recall some certain Wolfeners and Amythysians alike would not enjoy this summit including the Wolfen princess Eva. After all Astol kind of reminds of Iclamia; a politically messy place though the latter is much peaceful.”

Vei raises her hand up like a cheerful schoolgirl “I vehemently believe Astol deserve peace, provides stability and then prosperity flourished. Especially give good understanding of friendship between nations.” comment the Yeni-zeri captain.

Ozgol uncrossed his arms “Truthfully I prefer the peace deal should be signed but back home some of our commanders suggest conducting false flag operations in Astol to disrupt peace, in other word standard divide and conquer; because we think the world’s xenophobia will keep out other nations from helping them making it easier for us to conquer. That idea is dismissed by my father as he prefers peaceful diplomatic channels. I agree with him as it’s very costly to conduct many wars though we’re a warrior-based civilization.”

Shao quip “Well the proposed peace deals; we think Wolfenium repercussions is unfair as it will invite the grudge from Amythyst in the future if the deals are not went smoothly.”

“Nevertheless, the conflict between your country and Wolfenium is sad but it’s nothing compare to our worldwide war known as the Second Iclamian War, where over 40 billion lives lost, took 55 years for it to end. My father is one of the soldiers participate in it. However we believe the peace treaty should be signed by then if truly...unlike back home; peace treaty is nothing but a form of truce.” Ozgol said but feel down at the mention of Second Iclamian War.

“We do have some inquiries, what are Astolis, the locals’ views and reactions to our presence to your world especially your fellow Amythysians. I’d assume it’s...not pleasant. Also is it possible for me and my little brother to have a straight talk with your Tsarina? Royal to royal chat; we love to discuss future warm relationship with your nation and other Astoli nations.” Aigiarn asks putting one hand on her hips with interests.

Scirocco chuckled a little as he heard their replies. For one thing, the Iclamians were not the first to seek national interests in Astol, and they would certainly not be the last. He had already counted a few inside the lounge who would likely seek their own ends in the bargain.

"I certainly appreciate your honesty, my guests," he answered courteously, "although, to be fair, you can't seriously expect people to just sit around and watch as strangers set up camp near your homes. Outrage, suspicion and hysteria are just some of the more subtle words I'd put for my world's view of your presence in the Frontier - at least for Amythyst. Of course, I'm sure as royals, you'd expect other leaders to have as much of an interest in foreign lands as yourselves, if not more. A quick look at the lounge alone should reveal a few ambitious individuals.

Of course, I concur that while Our Divine Majesty does indeed seeks a lasting peace with the Empire, reality presents a different picture. We are already fighting off a full scale rebellion back home. For all its affluence, Amythyst can ill-afford to pay such a high price for this so-called 'war damages'. Our economy is already stretched to its limit thanks to our defence spendings. It's almost as if the Wolfeners want us to give up land as reparations. In the end, I fear we too may be looking at another fragile truce, the same kind we've seen with the Bruhl armistice. Conflict is such a tragic tale. No amount of statistics could ever show the horror and despair confronted by those who survived. After all, feelings cannot be counted like bodies.

Anyway, General, I'll try to call the Tsarina for you for a talk later on. She's probably still busy with the ceremony preparations. But truth be told," he responded with a shrug, "it seems rather pointless to be speaking to a figurehead. She may have ideas of her own, true, but the fact is the Tsarina hold little power in her hands, if any. Pardon me, but I feel you might end up wasting your time with her. But as you wish..."

As he reached the lounge, he gestured to the group to step inside.

"Please be patient," Scirocco advised to the group, "the ceremony is due to start in about two hours. I'll try to get an audience for you as soon as I can. For now, though, I have important businesses to attend to. Anything else you wish to ask before I take my leave?"

"Actually," Sarah commented, a sense of suspicion in her eye, "I have a query. I'm sure you've heard of the Ghost of Winter, Svetlana Remitonova. Rebel bitch in the guise of a soft-spoken, ill young girl. I'd like to know... What's your take on one of your own nobles aiding her cause against an established government? I know he's from a rival clan, but unless a child her age somehow managed to seduce a grown man, I don't see why a prince would support commies against us."

As the whole Minrozian delegates moved inside the lounge; the Songs’ siblings as usual weren’t impressed with the interior as they’re used to upper-class luxuries.
In response to Sarah’s question, Aigiarn thought about Lolon’s involvement in the shadows of frontier and then she sighs.

“Miss Zabiarov; Prince Lolon is the maverick in his clan so it doesn’t surprise me he made some brash actions. The Arvarshipurr clan are the traditionalists however they’re always have sincere sympathy for the weak and the poor but their weakness…they tend to let their hearts dictate their actions. Lolon has a soft spot for young children.

In fact as a military officer; I find what Lolon did is foolish taking a small expedition in the distant world without the permission of the government. He was pardoned by my father during the trial in the Imperial Court. I personally slap him in the face for his stupidity.” Aigiarn said as she cross her arms

“Isn’t a bit harsh for him, your highness, all you do is beat him up.” Vei pipped up as Ozgol smirk

“Well big sis, Lolon looked up to you as his beloved elder sister.” The crown prince remark

Aigiarn flushes in embaressment. “Hey, Lolon needs to learn his consequences of his actions. Really, I do care about everyone; sometimes a person has to learn the error of their ways for once.”

Ozgol stroke his chin and says “There’s things about him that bothers me; he looks so nervous or bothered around little girls ever since he came back from Northern Frontiers. When I ask Uncle Naran about Lolon’s condition and he say “I just gave him some moral support.” And then he walks away briskly. It doesn’t make any sense.”

“When I come across His Highness Lolon Arvashipurr; I call out to him but he cannot hear me so I called him Lollie due to my tired lungs, till he threatens me death sentence for that. Normally he doesn’t mind nicknames but this is the first time he acts that way. Is something wrong with just I’ve said.” Lao said seriously

“Obviously you did.” Ozgol mutters

“His grace, Lolon put himself in the mental hospital and repeatedly convinces himself he’s not a pedophile out loud. What did you think Miss Zabiarov?” Shao quip

“Yes, there is a question Paptimus; I’ve heard that the Agarian delegates are on their way to this conference, when do they arrive, we’re planning to meet the respective heads of Astoli nations together with us regarding our interests in your world.”
Aigiarn asks as she sat on one of the chairs.

Sarah felt shocked and perplexed by their description of the prince's alleged paedophilia. She clearly felt she had known too much for comfort.

"Woah..." she implored, turning away in discomfort as she waved for them to stop, "I'm sorry... That's too much info for me." Paedophilia may not be a widespread problem, but Sarah knew the hidden corners of the internet all too well. Police work was not part of her job description, but that did not stop her from committing to vigilantism. Her conscience and goodwill was a direct contrast to the nature of her profession. But regardless of the contradictions, Sarah genuinely believed that Scirocco could save the Commonwealth from self-destruction. Like many others, however, she failed to see the dark side to her commander. Only time would tell if - or when - he would show his true colours.

Scirocco's demure smile, however, faded a little at Aigiarn's suggestion. Bowed slightly, he stated, "I apologize, General, but I have no idea. A typhoon is still raging off the coast of San Marin, and flights all over the northern coast of Agaria have either been delayed or cancelled. To be honest, I don't think they will make it on time. In fact, there's a decent chance they may miss the summit altogether

And pardon me for my curiosity... but what interests in particular do you wish to discuss to the leaders of our world about? I can understand if you wish to iron things out with our regional heads, but given the current circumstances," he glanced around at the other foreign delegations seated in the lounge, "you may have to wait your turn."

“This is heaven. It feels like home.” Jinseng commented under the sun rays of the sun.

“Indeed but remember what’re here for. And we’re not really taking an actual vacation.” Valpa the Xoran crown prince said. “I have to leave little sister at home for her to take classes but you and I needs to explore more a bit.”

“Half-brother was it necessary to bring the head of Section Zero with us.” Said the business suited man with Native American features “You do know what happens later on…”

Valpa turns to the man and reply “I know Teoc; I do not approve Mecatl’s methods and his licentious lifestyle but he’s a reliable source of information and intelligence should things come up out of the blue.”

“Though I don’t deny his talents but his immoral ways will ruin this diplomacy for us.” Teoc reason

“Yeah, big brother; I hate that mongrel, one time he tried to molest our sister year ago and gave him a beating for that.” Jinseng spoke up

“Of course, I haven’t forgiven him for that; but we need his input later on. Father wouldn’t make him the head of Internal Security if it wasn’t for his talents; then again our Empire is too busy putting down rebellions.” Valpa spoke seriously ‘You’ve heard what we’ve said, Mecatl.” The pudgy prince look at the manwalking towards them with calm expression.

“I think you’re exaggerating dear brother; my intentions towards women are harmless.” Mecatl said smirk. In fact the last part is a lie. His fellow Xorans knew that and kept quiet about it. The Xoran delegation has recently arrived from the commercial airport via the limousine ride. Now they’re waiting for their guide.

“Mecatl; you know when not to do something stupid.” Teoc quip

“Why would I? I can’t help but enticed by beauties of females.” Mecatl licked his lips.

Teoc Yi Helshvari is the boss and owner of Royal Helshvari-State Arms, the main state-sponsored arms-manufacturing industry of Xoraine. While Mecatl is the head of Xoran secret police Section Zero. However even his subordinates don’t like him but they need his skills as the director of Section Zero. Now the Xorans are waiting in the entrance square observing the construction taking place.

Suddenly some individuals are heading towards them. “I wonder what they want.” Valpa thought

"Imperial Ambassador Rebecca Hanover, it is a pleasure to be in your presence, Your Highness..." Rebecca continued the formalities as she studied the petite women, though she admired her royal stance, as it were. She may not have been the most intimidating, but she surely was a breath-taker, if she played her cards right. Though, stapping out of her thoughts, she continued to converse with the Baroness. "Oh, you do not know? I cannot give you much detail, but I do know it's a response to the letter Captain Green handed over to the Tsarina on her parents funeral, which was over five months ago our time, though due to our massive time scale diffrence, we calculate that it has been about two to three weeks in your present time, correct?"

From her coat pocket, she revealed a thin, white envelope with various decorations. The feel of the paper was crisp, and the folded up letter inside was clearly visable from the light. Passing it over to the Baroness, the front featured a hand-written address bearing the baroness's name; Hilda. Inside, another piece of paper could be recovered, and upon it a hand-written message which read as followed:

Baroness Hilda Reia von Wolfenstein, I do believe we've never met truely in person, though my parents did tell me about you, and the events that unfolded on the day of your visit. I still carry on the apology from my parents about how it was capable of happening in the first place, though I reassure you our security is at a top-notch level. However, this is not what this letter is pressed to concern. On the day of my parents funeral, your dear friend Captain Thomas Green handed me the letter you originally entitled to my parents, and as heir, it immediatly passed onto me. I'm sorry if this is a slightly late reply, but regardless I feel it is my duty to respond to it in how they would have done, if there is still anything to be done about the matter.

There is no true way to measure such [a mans loyalty to his nation and people]. It is common knowledge that man, by nature, will fight for his best intrests before that of a collective group of peoples. Though if you truely wish to think of how it can be done, then I'd say it is done by their trigger of emotion, for what they see in their nation and its peoples. What, this person [Colonel Heinz Verloren] did on that day is an example. He will fight for what he is made to believe his best intrests but when faced with a child of his own, also a child of your soil, he is overflowed with emotion on what was really true. This Colonel was clearly still a very loyal man, but his mind was overriddled with things that took him back to the, somewhat 'feral' creature we all have locked away inside of us.

As in terms of punishment and sacrifice, it is a more delving situation. The entire generation that have lost their fathers and brothers, I presume, have lost them to war, whereas this man must answer to his crimes like every other man has. Though it is true, I can not help but feel the same exempt in this situation. You're neither right, nor wrong in feeling this way. From what my parents told me of you, you have alot of heart, and from that does come strength, so I have no doubt you have an unlimited mass of both, but even though those are not the things that win what you feel is most needed. There is also the common fact of reason, and this is where, I wish to assist - as I'm sure my parents would.

At present in my lands, a small investigation is still going underway over how the attacks were possible. I do hope, even after this time, the Colonel is still to be tried, as I know the judgement of law isn't dealt with over night, or in quite a few moons. If that is so, I request as a recognised soverign and ally of your cause, to bring evidence and evalution forward on this case, as the events that unfolded crossed over our lands, so I feel we must have some place. If this is atall acceptable, we shall side with you as your reason, but we must be led by your heart and strength. Though I must admit he will be punished, I promise you that this will not be any punishment of death or loss, and that his child shall continue life, knowing that her father is still beside her.

'Merlion' Ballroom, Resort World Convention Center - Kylarnatian Delegation
Hilda read the contents carefully as she took note of Silvier's message to her. As she concluded, she folded the message with a small, thankful smile.

"Sounds like something my brother would do," she uttered, "I still recall the words my grandfather put to him as a child. I was eavesdropping, of course. Curiosity tends to get to me. He told him that a leader must find the right balance between logic and morality. Any man, leader or follower, must not be ruled by his heart or mind, but with his will. My brother tends to take it into extreme at times. He once barged into a trial at the Supreme Court and overruled a death sentence by the judge, an act of madness in the eyes of his subjects, no doubt. But the defendant was a child, a victim unwitting dragged into a conspiracy as a sacrifice. I can't say more... such classified matters are beyond me, but he overturned the Supreme Chief of Justice and planted his own 'sentence' - ten-years military service.

His justification at the time was that she was - or had become - a powerful mage, a far more valuable asset as a soldier than a corpse. He had foreseen the danger of conflict in the region in the near future, whether it was against Amythyst, Agaria or as a neutral state. He stated quite plainly he would rather have her die in the field of battle, taking as many enemy soldiers with her as she could, than to be executed for nothing. That itself sounded like a far more cruel death sentence in a way. The matter in which he reasoned sounded painfully like he only viewed people in terms of practical value. It didn't surprise me that much, to be honest. He was always a pragmatist. That was what scared me about him. He looked like a cold cynic, someone who treats others like objects, only acting on reason and willpower.

But on hindsight, I think he really did care. He was probably just too stubborn to admit it. I've known my brother my entire life, and even now, I'm only scratching the surface of his thoughts. But I'm beginning to understand how he feels. Outwardly, he seems like a cold, calculative figure, always imposing his will on his nation, whatever it takes to maintain order. But I think he truly cares for others, that he felt sorry for the girl, and was confident she would survive against all odds. I still can't get how he could get such things right so many times. Must be some talent of his...

I'm not sure why he would think emotions would hinder him, but I guess he feared following in our grandfather's footsteps. My grandfather was hurt multiple times, his emotions exploited by others. Perhaps my brother wanted to show others he's just different."

As Hilda shook the ambassador's hand, the people around her could tell she was visibly moved by the letter. Releasing her hand, Hilda thanked, "I appreciate the response, Ambassador Hanover, I really do. Lateness is not an issue here if she was so willing to put her heart into this. Tell Her Majesty I will take her words to heart. Hopefully, I can convince His Majesty to show that same kind of compromise to the Colonel. I know... he's probably face several years imprisonment at best, but at least he would not have to face the death penalty.

I only wish the same could be said for the negotiations..." she mentioned grudgedly. She remembered asking Silvier's parents for help on the grounds of drawing up a peace treaty. However, the terms put forward by her own team later was actually a lot more arcane than she would have liked. Trillions of USD worth of reparations, either in monetary payment or cessation of resources and land... She could not have imagined herself imposing such heavy penalties on a nation on the brink of bankruptcy, but faced with a negotiations team who were more than happy to see Amythyst humiliated and bankrupt, she was eventually edged out of the post of chief negotiator by a colleague in her team - someone who was less inclined to be merciful to the Commonwealth.

"Anyway, Ambassador," Hilda told Rebecca, "I appreciate your attendance here, but I still need to work on the ballroom decorations. If you got anything to ask, feel free to approach Miss Aeronard. I'm sure she'll be able to answer your queries. For now though, I have to go back to work, so see you later then."

With a bow, Hilda quickly made her way into the ballroom yet again, worries compounding in her head. As the others watched in concern, Tsumugi could not help but ask, "the baroness looked like she's been under a lot of stress... What happened to her?"

"Well, ma chère," Stellar answered in discomfort, "Hilda isn't exactly faring that well right now. You did hear the news, haven't you, Miss Hanover? All those conditions the government is pressing on the peace treaty? Those dirty Nationalists had her kicked off the post of Chief Negotiator, simply because her draft was a lot more easy on Alisagrad. Guess who they planted as her replacement - a Defence Minister. Too bad that hawk got voted in again. It didn't seem like that razor thin voting margin last May scared him the least... What do you think, Miss Hanover?"

That man was in the convention center at this moment, busy in his own duties as he himself took up his post as a temporary guide.

Entrance, Resort World Casino Land Convention Center - Xoran Delegation
"...three trillion Universal Dollars or Halkenginia," recited a young man with unusual blue hair, before questioning, "it's like asking them to touch the sky or the center of the earth. You really want to stop the Amythysians from signing the peace treaty, do you? To be honest, I'd rather we sign the papers and be done with it."

"Heh? That coming from a man who profits from war? That's something new," quipped his companion as he chatted with his friend, "Aurel, Aurel, Aurel... if there's one thing I've learnt, is that life is never fair. If you want peace, the best way to achieve it is to completely and utter defeat your adversaries. Stop them from exacting revenge. Amythysians are an arrogant people. They will not accept a peace treaty with a 'lesser' nation under any circumstance, not even if we give in to their demands.

My aim here is to utterly bankrupt them. Strip them of their ability to fight against us. Once their economy collapses, there would be no way they could invade our lands again. To be frank, Aurel, I'd rather maintain the status quo as it is and wait for events to take its natural course."

"And then what," Aurel argued, "fight the commies? The Ilyavians aren't exactly as happy with us either, not to mention the waiting for the civil violence to spill into Wolfenium. I know I sell guns for a living, but I have a conscience too, you know. I'm not some gunrunner who simply sells AKs to any Tom, Dick or Harry who wants to shoot up a party. I sell and develop weapons simply to give our people a chance to fight back. Don't you think we've had enough fighting in one lifetime, Sig?"

Sig simply sighed at his friend's response, placing his hands on Aurel's shoulder's as he explained, "I know how you feel, Aurel, and I hate fighting as much as you do... But you've seen what the Amythysians did. Those bastards lied to us, all those years. One moment, they were happily proclaiming the 'fraternity of Astol's people', another moment, they start calling for a crusade against the 'heathen Wolfens'. I feel sick just thinking of it. The faster their nation collapses, the better. The world can do with one less rogue state. Too bad this convention center plays host to a whole bunch of these."

Aurel could only shake his head. There were times when he felt Sig was becoming the very monsters he hated. The propaganda Chancellor Paulus, his party chairman, was dishing out at him was clearly affecting his judgement. But he knew no amount of advice could get to him. Sig had always been headstrong, perhaps impulsive, acting on his own whenever he felt like it. What put him off even more was Sig's silent partner, an demure young girl dressed in a bizarre outfit. From the looks of it, she was clearly not from Wolfenium. Given the duo's travel escapades in their youth, Aurel had a nasty guess where she came from.

"How many did you buy this time," he questioned sternly, lowering his volume as he observed the girl clinging on to his friend like a puppy, "I thought we dropped the whole 'rich sultan' gig. You're pretty bold bringing her in full view. You want your head to roll, Minister Honecker?"

Honecker simply chuckled at the response, shaking his head as he answered, "yes, yes, I was young. I thought I was some badass buying girls off slave auctions for the heck of it, but even I know better than to keep that up now. The media had not been kind to me, Aurel. You know that. You may have a good excuse, since you're already a corporate scumbag like your whole family, but politicians like me have an image to uphold. I had a grilling when that first report came out. Good thing the chancellor bailed me out of it, as soon as I showed them I released the girls a long time ago."

"After you had your fun," Aurel grunted, "just answer my question."

"Yeah..." Sig groaned, scratching his head, "remember that whole trip to some tropical island back in our world tour. That girl we rescued back then..."

"Yeah, I remember," Aurel replied, stroking his chin in amusement "for a non-mage, you really scared me back there, cutting down those headhunters with that obsidian blade. Too bad we can't bring that back into customs. What about her?"

"You do remember what happened after, right?" questioned Sig.

"Umm... well, those natives treated us to a feast and treated us like kings. I actually had to get my brother to bail us out when they refused to let us go."

"There's a reason they didn't want to let us go, Aurel," Sig groaned, "that godsend-style light show you pulled with your magic. They think you're some kind of god. And I'm like some guardian protecting you or whatever. All those girls happily feeding you grapes. They were your wives. Of course, the chief gave me credit as well, so he married his daughter - that child we rescued - to me..."

"Woah..." Aurel blubbered in distraught, "you mean, all that celebration or whatever... It was a wedding dinner!?"

Nodding in unhappiness, Sig could only admit, "yes... I didn't tell you earlier because I only found out a few days earlier. Turns out the chief watches cable TV and learnt to read and write English after that whole mess. He saw me in the news regarding the summit, so he sent her here just to find me. In a giant crate... Lucky for you, you're just a guest, so you didn't get on the news. I'd like to see the look on your transvestite 'sister's face when she receives a shipment of pretty girls mailed to you."

Aurel could only pull his collar in nervousness, commenting, "good thing Luftwolfen doesn't fly there. My brothers will never let me live it down for that... So what's her name."

Sig could only pause in silence, shaking his head as he said, "I don't know. From what the letter states, unmarried girls in his tribe don't have real names. That's for the husbands to decide."

Tapping his forehead in disbelief, Aurel could only remark, "I think a lot of girls will die a little inside because of this. I know you're a playboy when you were younger, but... I don't know, this is too much. So how old is she now."

"Sixteen years, Aurel," he groaned, "sixteen. She was four when we got into that mess. It's been twelve years since then..."

As they made their way out of the entrance, he noticed out of a corner of his eye another delegation waiting outside. Sighing, Sig knew they were here for the summit. Given the lack of personnel, the onus was on him to take charge. Approaching the Xorans, he introduced, "greetings, esteemed guests. My name is Sigurd Honecker, Defence Minister for the Empire of Wolfenium, and this is my friend, Aurel Silber. He's an executive for a local defence contractor."

"Afternoon," the CEO of Meerhart-Silber Automotives quipped cheerfully, "I suppose you're here for the summit. The other delegates should be gathered at the lounge right now. We'll be more than happy to escort you inside."

It never occurred to Sigurd to introduce his silent companion, even when she was in plain sight. Granted, he had no idea where to start since he did not know her name. But after finding her mailed to his hotel room in a giant wooden crate, the man more infamous for his playboy antics than his party's radicalised rhetorics was starting to feel that his troubles had only just begun...

Aigiarn took off her peak cap and hand it to Shao for him to hold.

“To satisfy your curiosity, we’re planning to built strong ties with Astol whether military and economically or anything. And as well as competing with rival empires back in my world. ” The Lady General explains as she frowns into seriousness “Also to warn your world about Xoraine and Omaskans. You may not heard about the Omaskans; trust me on this part…they’re vile gangsters. My country and Xoraine sometimes team up against them on occasions; they’re pretty sneaky bastards.”

The Minrozian crown prince nodded “If you made dealings with them; it’s more akin to mafia deals.” Ozgol quipped. He turns to the rest of delegates.

“Hmm, Most of these delegates are quite unsavoury. However I think the Floor Kippers are the most trusting, didn’t we build our embassy in their homes.”

Shao nodded “Indeed we did your highness; they’re fellow multidimensional country like ours.”

“Yeah, except ours is called Grand Holy Empire of Minroz or Minrozian Universe Empire as its’ sound grandiose enough than them.” Vei remark

“Hmph, no matter friends; our Empire will conquer their pitiful dominions soon for turning away from the light of Dewa.” Lao proclaims

“You’re ranting ain’t helping Lao.” Ozgol said dismayed

“But Ozgol, our society is often emphasised on military strength. Thanks to that we survived the Horrible Second Iclamian War.” The younger Song retort

The crown prince sighs and looks at his big sister. “What did we do now?”

“We wait little brother; till the ceremony opens.” Aigiarn responds calmly.

The Xorans bow in greeting their Wolfener guides.

“Greetings to you too, Mr Honecker, I’m Valpa Yi Helshvari, Crown Prince of the Hegemonic Empire of Xoraine. And these are my associates accompanying me on this trip.” As the pudgy Xoran gestures to the rest of the Xoran delegates.

“Teoc Yi Helshvari, prince of the Xoraine; owner and boss of the Royal Helshvari-State Arms. In fact the whole group are princes.” Teoc smiles warmly

Jinseng however is less keen to talk to the Wolfeners whom he views as savages worthy of being slaves and servants to Xoraine. He growl first and then crossed his arms.

“Jinseng Er Helshvari, remember that name; Valpa’s little brother. I’m sure your Kaiser has remembered me along with his entourage back at Kylarnatia. Also you’re buffoons, you smell bad and nobody likes you.” The teenage Xoran smugly said as he’s proud of his insult directing at the Wolfeners before him; till smack in his head by his elder brother.

“Jinseng, what I’ve just said about manners. Gods of the Blue Mountains help me.” Valpa sternly said

Mecatl looks at the girl clinging on Sigurd and he licked his lips. He then introduces himself.

“Mecatl Yi Helshvari, Minister of Internal Affairs and also Director of Xoran State Security Services called Section Zero. It’s nice to meet you all. Where can we start to go to?” the last Xoran to introduces himself, and then look at the girl lecherously thinking hundred ways to ravish her.

Jinseng caught on this and briskly walk to Sigurd and Aurel. Though he knew they’re angered by his insults but felt compelled to warn the Section Zero director’s depraved side.

“I may not like you savages; but I’m warning you to keep your girl away from him (Mecatl); same goes for other females on this island. He is a lustful madman who enjoys ravishing young women. He is also the master of tortures too, even though we don’t like him but we need him for his talents fitted as the head of our State Security Services.” Jinseng spoke in German (Wolfen) fluently that the Wolfeners can understand. Luckily for them, Mecatl don’t know any German but he specializes in Minrozian languages.

Looking down at the boy who threw his bland insult earlier, both men could tell they feared Mecatl's veracious appetite for women. Aurel felt a bit queasy in his presence. He reminded him of all those hideous eroge villain protagonists he had seen in his gaming experience. Not the most pleasant feeling.

"We'll keep that in mind," Aurel whispered back to Jinseng in German, his eyes focused on Mecatl, "although if I were him, I'd try to keep my distance off Astoli women. Trust me... they're a vicious bunch beneath those pretty faces. Frankly, I'd worry about him and his 'monster'. Honecker can testify for that."

"Yeah, nice way to put it, Silber," grunted Sigurd, before glancing back at, "also, if you want to insult us, try being more creative. I lost count the number of derogatory statements they've put on us, and yours sound childish in comparison."

As he pressed the girl close to his body, Honecker told the group, "follow me, Your Highnesses. I'll show you the way."

Honecker's feelings towards the foreigners were undoubtedly mutual, in a different way. To him, the very provocations they pose were a source of spite and ridicule for Wolfenium, something he could not tolerate privately. Ever willing to prove Wolfen honour, he would rather shoot more Amythysian soldiers on the DMZ than to play host to a bunch of 'barbarians'. But Sigurd knew how crucial the summit was to the Kaiser. It was not just to bring discussions forward to an international level, it was to judge the nations they were dealing with critically - whether they may become proven allies or dangerous foes for the Empire.

In his opinion, he could not fathom what the Kaiser would see in these people, the Iclamians in general. To him, they were just another group of expansionist aggressors, all seeking a piece of Astol. He had already counted a few others with ulterior motives, and he was not about to trust the draft of the peace settlement to outsiders any time soon. But at the very least, he knew what kind of people he was dealing with. The Xoran Crown Prince and his arms merchant companion seemed decent enough to him. His young brother, though pretty much a Social Darwinist like most others outsiders he had seen, was of little consequence due to his age. Mecatl reminded him of another Minister of Internal Affairs, who was ironically the complete opposite of his Xoran counterpart in terms of treatment towards women. Mecatl simply seemed eager for some action. In contrast, the man he had to deal with on the other end of the negotiations table was a lot more gentlemanly towards the fairer sex, only to use them as tools to consolidate his power. As he reached the door of the lounge, he was once again confronted with the man who would stop at nothing to pull the treaty in his nation's favour.

"Scirocco," he uttered cynically, eyes narrowing slightly, "what a 'surprise'... I didn't think you cared enough to join the summit? Why the change of heart?"

Noticing the Wolfener sneering at him, Scirocco could not help but feel amused at the sight. Standing before him was the Xoran delegation, his charges' greatest rivals. He had no doubt the scene would be of great interest to him. Honecker, too, took note of the Minrozian delegation he had guided. He could tell almost immediately he had been feeding them information.

"Minister Honecker," he replied amicably, his smirk hiding his mounting displeasure, "I was about to ask the same thing... But then again, you have become chief negotiator as the chancellor hoped. I ought to congratulate you."

"Save it," Honecker stated, "I got no time for political bargaining. I got a draft to settle. I'm pretty sure you have your work cut out for you too. Shouldn't you get back to work?"

Glancing back the Minrozians, Scirocco could only sigh at his counterpart's lack of experience. He had deduced Sigurd as just another of Chancellor Paulus' lackeys. He had no time to waste on servants.

"Yes," he stated, "I really should. Sarah?" he called out to his guard as he prepared to leave. Noticing the silent young girl clinging on to him, the Sapphirian could not help but ask, "ahh, I see you've gotten yourself a nice pet. No doubt a bundle of fun for you."

"Why thank you," Sigurd growled sarcastically, "and might I say, yours is doing very well herself. Then again, I never had an entire agency under my command."

"How dare you," Sarah spat, "Master Paptimus is an honourable man. He'll never stoop to the likes of you!" Glancing at the Xorans with disgust, she stated, "have fun with your own argument. There'll be more of this tomorrow. And you," she demanded to the leering Mecatl, "best keep your eyes on your job, before someone pokes them out."

Watching as she began bringing the Amythysian minister out, Aurel playfully mused, "rude, isn't she? Telling a delegate straight in the face his eyes will get poked out. Maybe it's just woman's instinct? Or maybe she wants to put on a good word for your counterparts inside? Oh well."

"Let's go, Aurel," Sigurd stated, as he brought the girl out, keeping a wide berth around Mecatl, "I got work to do. Until then, Your Highnesses."

With that, the guides moved off in opposite directions, preferring to save their breath for the upcoming battle. Both of them knew that their chance will come tomorrow, when they would meet up to put an end to the conflict. In any case, they would rather not get involved in any argument the Iclamians might get into. They'll leave it to more capable specialists to handle that.

As the delegates from other various countries/worlds/universes were arriving (New Amerik had long since broadened its notions of origin since joining the multiversal stage), Walter and Reeder had chosen to keep an eye on the others while waiting for an announcement. To that end, they had sunk themselves into two soft chairs near one of the end tables, and Reeder had pulled out a black box that was now currently showing a series of cards for both parties, with various ranks and positions for each card.

As Walter prepared a forward thrust upon the far right section of Reeder's hand, he softly broached the topic. "So, Reeder...what do you think of our fellow nations, or at least their...representatives?"

Busy formulating his own strategy, Reeder was too busy to respond for a moment. After deciding to prepare reinforcements to counter a possible attack in his right (deliberately weakly defended), he shrugged, and said, "Honestly, Walt, the Boss-man sure knows how to pick 'em. Mind you, the Kippers aren't bad, but, eh...can't say the same for the rest. Seems like we're the only ones here who are even close to being normal...and that's not saying much, obviously."

He looked over his shoulder at the Minrozian delegation, before pointing at them for a moment. "Whoever they are, they sure like talking about violence and throwing their weight around. And from the sounds of it, they're not even trying to disguise the multiverse from the others here. Bloody bunch of superioritists. And the others...well, some of these guys seem alight, but we got a lot of ponces and blue bloods here."

Walter nodded, eyes narrowing as he watched Reeder prepare his move, trying to decide whether to strike or not. "Yes, but keep your eyes on the prize. We are here to help Wolfenium, and to foster the seeds of a potential alliance. New Amerik won't give a damn about any...well, most of the other nations here as long as they don't stand in our way. We prepare, we debate, Wolfenium gets her money and the peace, and we are done."

His partner nodded. "Yeah, I got it. I dunno though, Walt...not only is this place reeking of tension, some of these other guys seem..." he made the sign for crazy, "If you know what I mean. Best be prepared for anything."

Walter agreed, and try continued playing and waiting,

Corridors, Resort World Convention Center - Amythysians
As the minutes ticked by towards the start of the ceremony, Alice could still feel the tension of the summit building up. She had spent a lot of effort making sure the proceedings run smoothly, and with the Agarians almost certain to be absent, she had to keep the conference all the more. Now dressed in a new outfit for the opening, she could not help but hear the criticisms of her companion.

"Your Majesty," questioned the young blonde (pictured right) beside her , similarly dressed for the occasion in a teal gown, "you honestly believe that fox (Scirocco) would stick to his word on the peace deal? The man is as shady as his counter-terrorist tactics. I doubt an oath in blood would mean anything to him. Mind you, it's still an oath to a secret police unit, and they themselves aren't exactly loyal to you."

"I understand your fears, Senator Athha," Alice concurred, "to be frank, there's something about him I fear a lot about. That sense of anonymity... it bothers me too. But the minister had proven himself a valuable ally countless times, and though his ambition may be questionable, I doubt he would try to seize power at this moment, not when the nation is still in danger of a rebel takeover. He knows he has a target on his head. He'll probably strike only when he's sure of victory. If he does so prematurely, the most likely outcome would be his corpse hanging outside the Rosa Kremlin, when the Pearl City itself is draped in red."

"That's still too much of a gamble, Your Majesty," Attha insisted, "more than half the senate, cabinet and chain of command wants your head mounted on a stake, and pretty much everyone else hates you for a whole list of reasons. To be honest, I think it is unwise just to give in to Wolfen demands. I know we need the manpower to fight the insurgents, but surely we can reach a better compromise-"

However, watching as her monarch stop in her tracks, the young senator could see in Alice's eyes a sense of dread and fear.

"We don't have that kind of time, Cagalli," Alice uttered ominously, "the baroness tried her best, but as of now, she had overruled by the Wolfen Reichstag, with her brother's approval. The Kaiser will not spare any concessions for us, and though he too wishes for the war to end, he will not step back for us just because we asked. He is a pragmatist. He'll put his people's affairs and wellbeing before our own. This summit," she mused, "is but a magnifying glass for him, to judge those worthy of his trust to those who do not. No doubt there are nations here who have the interests of their own motherlands at stake. We cannot hope to rely on anyone else for our own salvation. Sometimes, sacrifices must be made for the future of the homeland. As given how bleak that future is, we may have to give up more than we would allow ourselves."

"My queen," Cagalli uttered in disbelief, "even if that's true, there's no need to go to such extremes... One trillion Universal Dollars is no joke. We can't afford such a high price. And even if we trade off that penalty with Halkenginia, it would mean abandoning the millions of people there who pledged their lives to protect you and the Commonwealth. Those men, women and children bled and died with our soldiers on those fields. Do you really have the heart to abandon them?"

Alice appeared extremely downcast, looking back at the distraught senator. Staring at the ground, the Tsarina felt conflicted over her obligations. On one hand, she had vowed to her mother to protect the nation and its people. On the other, she seemed close to cutting off close to twenty million Halkenginians from Amythyst, selling them and their lands off like livestock to the Kaiser's Greater Fatherland. As the Tsarina's eyes met with the senator, it was clear she was close to tears.

"I don't know, Cagalli," sniffed the weeping Alice, wrapping her arms around the surprised senator, "I don't know anymore... I can't stand watching everyone around me feeling so sad... I hate it... I know what I said... That's I'd rather have people hate me than others, but... but... I don't like being hated... It hurts... I don't know what is best anymore..."

Taken slightly aback by the sudden hug, Cagalli herself did not know what to say at first, but as she composed herself, she gently lifted the monarch's arms and placed her hands on her shoulders, affirming, "no need to fear, Alice. Everything will be fine. If you're ever in doubt, remember to believe in yourself. Whatever choice you make, we'll be there to help. I know I can never imagine myself in your position, a feudal monarch in a changing modern world, but you need to stay strong. Think nothing of those who hate you. Instead, believe in those who still have faith in you. You are not fighting this battle alone. We'll all be there to help you, no matter what. Even if the world itself were to turn against you, we'll be there to stand by you. Trust us on this."

As Cagalli wiped away the tears in Alice's eyes, the Tsarina could feel the warmth of her subject's hand streaking through her eyelashes. Rubbing her eyes, Alice finally pulled herself together again, blurting, "thanks... I needed that." The senator sighed in relied as she watched her leader regain her composure. True, Alice was still a child by many standards, but there was always a fiery willpower in her that was admirable in itself.

Unfortunately, another voice quickly stepped in to cut the moment short, stating with amusement, "that must have been a touching moment, Your Majesty. Hopefully, it'll help boost your confidence for the meetings tomorrow." Facing them was none other than Scirocco, escorted by Sarah, his delicate smile masking his hidden intentions as always. On instinct, the senator stepped in between her queen and the minister as she questioned, "what do you want, Minister. I thought you were still working on that draft."

Scirocco beamed at the senator's act of defence. He had always found pacifists like her an interesting breed.

"I was," he stated, "but I got sidetracked a bit leading foreign delegates to the holding area. Oh, that reminds me... One of the delegates, a Crown Princess Aigiarn Merrmesh of Minroz wishes for an audience with you. Another political discussion, no doubt. I just hope our current history with their nation isn't that much of an issue."

"Really?" accused Cagalli, "if that's the case, why don't you do it yourself."

"Oh, I wouldn't dare," Scirocco justified, "they specifically asked for you, my queen. Perhaps it is imperative to get this done with? We still have some time. Maybe you could sneak another conversation with another delegate or two on the way out. Now," he excused himself, bowing in reverence, "if you excuse me, I got a draft to formulate."

Watching as the minister moved on, Cagalli could not help but feel suspicious. "I still can't get how he thinks... We should check things out.

Lounge, Resort World Convention Center - Everyone present
Peeking out the door like a curious child, Alice was still feeling a little confused over the minister's words. As Cagalli stood outside and observed, she heard the child-like monarch ask, "so... Who are we supposed to look for here?"

"Hell if I care," Cagalli groaned, "personally, I wouldn't take Scirocco's words for it. He's seems dubious enough. Besides, shouldn't we be headed to the ballroom?"

"That can wait," Alice replied, stepping into view, "but first we need to look for this... umm Crown Princess... Ai... Aig... Oh god, what's the name again?..."

However, a voice cut them short as the Tsarina turned in surprise to the person approaching them...

Sir Nigel had turned to look at the doors when the look on Simon's face had brightened
"So that's the Tsarina, The images in the files don't do her justice" He said "I can see why You have feelings for her"

"Its not just her looks" Simon said quietly and defensively, blushing slightly

"Never said it was Simon" Sir Nigel said.
He paused to let his mind feel the atmosphere of the room

"She's competent leader who the odds are stacked against. Quite how she keeps that appearance of calmness I'll never know." He said "Someone like that deserves everything she can get to tip the odds in favor of her, hopefully we can do something towards that."

"I only wish I could have done more" Simon said sadly

"You tried your best and when you failed, you brought the problem to my attention" Sir Nigel said "And I'm glad you did, besides there's still chance to help."
