Have you had trouble with the Forum Moderators: A while ago, on the order of 8 months or more ago.
If so, how severe was the situation, and why did it happen (e.g banned, warned etc.): Warned for posting in mod threads (which was accidental), and other petty crimes Warning level should be normal across all accounts by this point.
What is your vision for your nation in the region (roleplay-wise)?: Basically this less-than-average Scandinavian nation whose major industries are logging and foodstuffs (like meats and fish and grains). I don't envision this country being influential in any way, and it won't have any major impact on most things in the world, much like Sweden today. That is not to say, however, that it won't be a model or a country of note in some ways, much like Sweden is today. Democracy may be an issue, with many competing factors threatening the power of the monarch and the Hegemony. So that could prove interesting, or disastrous for the structure of the country - a chink in the armor, that if exploited, will fracture it. Military involvement won't be of any issue, except in joint military operations, in which it can be useful. It will try to form bonds with like minded nations, but that could prove difficult with its somewhat conservative social model amongst the very liberal economic model.

Don't bet on it. They denied me, though for just reasons that I can't hold against them. Still, doubt they'll let you join though. You have earned a bad rep just like me, though I can understand the reasons for both our reps(Our stupid decisions).

We deliberate for every single applicant based on circumstances and what we feel would be best. Just because we voted against you joining doesn't mean we'll vote on denying THL.

For the record, no official consensus has been reached on THL's app yet, either.

0648hrs, September 25th, 2015

General Shakil Darzi was fuming. For weeks now, his command along the border had been plagued by harassment from the cursed Bigtopians just across the Al-Sharwa river. Things were being stolen, remote outposts attacked by 'bandits', citizens harassed at the Telma Bridge border crossing, and the Bigtopian government had been steadfastly denying all knowledge, whilst Asadi military command had ordered him not to retaliate, simply to increase patrols.

Last night, things had escalated. The small hamlet of Sakwa, little more than a goat-herding commune, had been attacked in the hours of darkness. A lone survivor from the village, a young boy who had taken too long to get his small flock back down from the hillside where they had been grazing, had rushed into one of Darzi's patrols and almost been shot. After a breathless explanation, the soldiers had cautiously gone to look at the village, spotting the burning huts from a kilometer away and instantly returning to Telma to raise reinforcements.

Now, at the break of dawn, Darzi stood amongst the charred ruins, the stench of burnt flesh in his nostrils. The Bigtopian attackers had not been subtle - they had left bullet casings, distinctive halftrack ruts left by their shitty motorised infantry, and the young goatherd had distinctively heard shouts in Bigtopian as he had hidden in the bushes, watching the foul enemy butcher his friends and family.

"Asre'!" he snapped at some of his men, who were loading the blackened bodies into a truck for transport and burial. He had no desire to remain in this place. Within a few more minutes, the Asadi soldiers had packed up and their vehicles were kicking up plumes of dust as they rattled back the way they had came, leaving the ruined village to the vultures and the foxes.

Telma Bridge, border town, Levant Al Asad
1031hrs, September 25th, 2015

He had made his report to the defense ministry in Kafr el-Asad, and had received a formal notice ordering him to do nothing. That notice was crumpled into a ball and currently lay on the floor of his office, the hot hazy air alleviated only by the whirring of a cheap plastic fan hanging on the roof. The tall, lean general was now on the phone directly to the Emir's palace, a stubby cigarette clutched in his other hand as he waited for the servant to get back on the line.

There was a crackling, and the general was about to snap at the man for having taken so long, when a calm voice spoke to him.
"As-salamu alaykum, General Darzi."
"I...Wa-Alaikum-Salaam, Your Highness." he replied, discipline overriding his surprise. He had been expecting to talk to one of the Emir's advisors, not the Emir himself.
"I hear the Bigtopian dogs have taken one of my towns?"
"Y..yes, Your Highness. They snuck across in the night like thieves. I have been...ordered not to respond by Command."
There was a pregnant pause, before the smooth voice spoke again, a gentle suggestion which carried the iron force of law as far as Darzi was concerned.
"As a General of the Army of the Levant, it is your job to protect my subjects and prevent incursions into our lands. You have my authority to take every step necessary to stop these infidels. If anyone seeks to punish you for your actions, direct them to me. I will notify high command myself. Good day, General Darzi."
There was a click as the phone was put down, leaving Darzi frozen, speechless. He finally had the permission to take the fight to these slippery Bigtopians, but he felt cold. If he misinterpreted the Emir's words, he could die, his family punished for his failures. If he was right, the Emir wanted him to effectively start a war...

Border checkpoint, Telwa Bridge, Levant Al Asad
1121hrs, September 25th, 2015

The guards at the Bigtopian end of the bridge were not particularly active today. It was a hot day, the sun beating down on the flat concrete, with not a breath of wind to cool them down. They were sat in a small aluminium box perched right on the river's edge, nothing but a radio, a few cabinets full of paperwork, and a few rifles leaned against the rickety table upon which they played cards and smoked the day away.

There was the rumbling of an engine, and the captain in charge grunted at his corporal to go and check it out. Border crossings were rare enough now, what with the heightened tensions, but even so they had orders to thoroughly search every single Asadi vehicle. For what he didn't know, but he did his job without question.

There was a panicked shout from his corporal, who was yelling for the captain. The rest of the guardpost looked up, and then instinct kicked in and they reached for their weapons, spilling out onto the bridge.

In front of them was a truck loaded with Levantine soldiers. Behind the truck, stretching across the bridge and onto the Asadi side of the riverbank, were more trucks and jeeps, with a few IFVs here and there and even an old, yet menacing, tank pouring smoke into the sky. Further back, straggling groups of what looked like militia tribesmen were gathering around the military column, on everything from technicals and pickups to horses and camels, carrying ragtag equipment but all cheering their enthusiasm.

The captain struggled to understand what was going on as a tall, lean general with a sharp goatee and a scarred cheek strode over to him. The man's arms were wiry and thick with hair, a golden watch glinting at his wrist as he raised a finger to point at the captain and speak in Arabic at him. The captain spoke enough to understand, though some of his men did not and were baffled as they watched the debate go back and forth. The Asadi seemed to want to go through the border, and naturally their captain was not exactly enthusiastic about the request. It was four against hundreds, however, as angry-looking Asadi soldiers muttered curses their way.

"For the last time, I warn you - we are investigating murders done on our people by Bigtopians. You will let us through! I will not warn you again!" snapped Darzi.
"You have no authority here, Asadi! You must go back! There are no murderers, at least not on our side of the bridge!" hissed the Bigtopian captain, attempting to mask his fear with contempt.
Darzi bristled at this last insult, taking in the captain's defiant posture and the growing growl from behind him. He waved a languid hand and barked a single word in Arabic, and his men opened fire, a dozen rifles blasting away the unfortunate Bigtopians before they had time to do anything more than gasp in shock.

Asadi soldiers rushed forwards to raise the wooden barrier and drag the corpses off the road. The captain had survived and was crawling away, leaving a trail of blood as he did so. Darzi took a stride over to him, using a foot to roll him off the road and onto his back.
"I am sorry, friend." he said, not without feeling - despite being God's will and his duty as a soldier of the Levant, Darzi truly believed that no-one should rejoice in death, not even the rightful death of an infidel. Raising his service pistol, he shot the dying man between the eyes, before pacing back to the road and climbing into the lead truck of the convoy as it rolled across the border and into Bigtopia.

The first shots had been fired. The embers had burst into flame. Levant Al Asad was at war.
