Massacre at Eohan Hill!

3 February 2138
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

Horror from the North!

Thousands are dead after the unprecedented and unprovoked attack on Port Hwanghu by Seoyese Forces last night! Late in the evening of the previous day, thousands of Seoyese swarmed the Hwanghuer-Seoyese border as a deadly bombardment was rained down upon the city, setting the hodgepodge port ablaze in a form that endangered the lives of the thousands of civilians in the city. As the Seoyese moved into the streets, intense urban fighting broke out between Imperial and the savage forces. The result was a series of bloody sorties that left an estimated near two thousand dead on both sides, though with the Imperial government’s forces heavily out numbered, loosing 69% of their combatants and the Seoyese only 40%. The bloody attack has left those in the Empire stunned and horrified. Lt. Governor Mgijima, who was in the city at the time is reportedly missing while many other high ranking officials are presumed dead. A response is underway from the offices of the Inama

Sinking of the Emfusa!

Image

14 February 2138
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

Seoyese Savagery on the High Seas!

Five men lost their lives at sea yesterday as the unarmed cargo ship, the Emfusa, while sailing on the Western Ocean was subject to an unprovoked attack by a fleet of Seoyese warships, with struck the ship carrying medical equipment. As evening fell the ship suddenly found itself in the cross hairs of the Seoyese Navy. It was struck by a volley of long range missiles that resulted in a massive explosion that tore the vessel in half. The ship’s captain, Antoine Mhlaba ordered an immediate emergency evacuation of the ship. Five members of the ship’s 32 crew were killed immediately in the explosion or shortly after having failing into the waves.

Thankfully, Rear Admiral Fezekile Dyani and a division of destroyers were quickly deployed by the Admiralty to aid the Emfusa and fight off the Seoyese forces. After a fierce engagement, in which the Rear Admiral inflicted critical damage to several of the Seoyese ships, the savage ambush force was forced to flee the scene in a disastrous disorganized fashion while the Celestial Navy conducted successful rescue operations for the surviving crew members of the Emfusa, escorting them back to shore.

In response to the attack on this civilian vessel, Prime Minister Hollande has declared a Total Maritime Exclusion Zone (TMEZ) around the Andejanes Archipelago with a radius of 200 nautical miles, effectively declaring the entire strait between the north and south seas off limits to ships, warning commercial vessels not to sail through, and asserting the right to destroy any and all Seoyese water or aircraft in the TMEZ.

For many, the sinking of the Emfusa marks a critical turning shift in the public’s view of the ongoing conflict as stunned horror on the brazen assault on Port Hwanghu turns to anger and sense of patriotic outrage. There has been a surge of support of Prime Minister Hollande, though there have been many calls amongst the Ultras and Liberals alike for a harder response against Seoya.

Non-Aggression Pact signed with the Celestial Empire

February 19, 2138

King Berengar announced the signing of a new Non-Aggression Pact with the Celestial Empire after he held a private meeting with Emperor Andeja IV on the Saizon River. The two monarchs, both young men of the same age met on a barge on the center of the Saizon River on the border of their two realms.

The two monarchs of the pact agreed to respect each other's borders and agreed to stay neutral in each other's conflicts. This notably includes the ongoing Andejanes War between the Celestial Empire and Seoya, dampening the hopes of the more belligerent Riessans who looked to join in the conflict. The King and the Emperor agreed that any disputes are to be solved peacefully and neutrally.

The Non-Aggression Pact is a stark departure from the norm of diplomatic agrees between the nations, neither being a treaty reestablishing peace nor conducted with a dynastic union, which has held some to assert this is a tentative and cold truce of sorts. This is further made apparent by the pact set to expire unless renewed in five years, in winter 2143.

Paras Kanatus announces Commerce De-regulation!

27 February 2138
Sioratassuar, Patuania

Paras Kanatus II of Patuania was cheered in the Grand Assembly as he announced the approval a state de-regulation of commercial activities amongst private businesses in the Commonwealth. For years, state owned and operated companies have dominated the national economy, while while there was much excitement over the privatization of several large industries, such as the arms manufacturing industry, many complained that the strict regulations have continued to stifle the Patuanian economy.

The new Commerce Deregulation Policy largely affects the Arms, Banking, and Service sectors of the Patuanian economy, notably lowering the barriers of entry into small private enterprises by entrepreneuring citizens. The policy also allows, in regards to banking, credit unions and savings and loans to offer checkable deposits and institutions to charge any loan interest rates they chose. And norably it allows for private defense contractors and arms manufacturers to no longer limit their percentile sells to foreign buyers.

In the eyes of many, particularly amongst the Paras’ supporters, this is the latest in steps to improve the Patuanian economy, and bring it further on par economically and trade wise with the rest of the Borean League. Some however have noted that the deregulations put greater ease, and even encouragement of the exportation to not only other members of the Borean League (previously the only official customers since 2135, and who it was capped at 10% of sell’s) but now to other non-league northern nations such as Carras, Mairantas and most notably Seoya.

Queen Arabella gives birth to Royal Twins!

March 20, 2138

43 rounds were shot from the river bank as the House of Maranyon celebrated the coup de grace on their ascent to the Riessan throne, as King Berengar and Queen Arabella appeared before cheering crowds with not one, but two newborn princes. The princes are identical twins (a common occurrence in their mother’s family as Queen Arabella and Lady Adela are identical twins and Prince Loris and Prince Lorian are identical twins. The Queen’s grandfather, Prince Frederick was a fraternal twin with his sister, Queen Adela of Espana). The elder of the twins, named Louis Alexander (named for the late Emperor Louis) was born at 7:45 am and was followed 8 minutes later by a brother, named Leopold Albert (after a great-uncle) at 7:53 am.

The birth was attended by the king, his mother Duchess Adelheid and the queen’s father the Earl of Witford who welcomed their first grandchildren. Members of the King’s Privy Council were also in attendance, and they presented the new norms to the court. The birth of the princes creates the always vital heir and spare for the House of Maranyon, Louis, as the elder of the two has been proclaimed the new Crown Prince of Riessany with a round of 22 shots from cannons on the river, while Prince Leopold is now second in line, pushing the former heir presumptive Prince Rudolf down to third. The Duke of Jouille and Prince Rudolf have been selected as the princes godfathers while Princess Raella and Lady Adela Pearson have been selected as godmothers. With the birth an an heir, a sense of stability and relief has washed over the country not seen since 2090. It has increased anticipation for the King’s coronation, scheduled for May of this year.

Queen Oiyora launches the HMS Oiyora Submarine!

April 7, 2138

Queen Oiyora was cheered throughout the harbor of the capital city of Bendas she, dressed in full military ceremonial regalia launched the first attack submarine in the Turandan Navy, the aptly named, HMS Oiyora.

Designed and built by the Turandan Naval Group (TEOO) the diesel electric powered vessel is the first of its kind, built in direct response to the infamous Hyrukian Seawolf Stealth Submarines that dominated the Southern Sea in previous wars. The new attack submarine is, with eight torpedo tubes a vessel ‘made for seeking and destroying threats below the waves as much as above them’.

The Oiyora, displaying over a thousand tons, compliments a some 50 crew members, and is capable of weeks long operations in the ocean depths. Its new sensory arrays are Genoise designed and manufactured in Bendas, reported to be on the cutting edge of technology.

The Oiyora, as it successfully navigated out of the harbor, will soon be joined by five sister vessels—as of yet unnamed and set to be launched later this year— as part of the TEOO’s six ship contract with the Turandan Government overseen by Prime Minister Orjea. Prime Minister Mayowa, meanwhile has entered into negotiations over any potential future projects.

Proclaimation of the Commonwealth of Gualla!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
12 April 2138 | Gualla City, Guallan Commonwealth

Philippe Keya stood before a press pit today as he, backed by six others identifying themselves as the Provisional State Council of Gualla, declared the official independence and proclaim action of the Commonwealth of Gualla. Philippe Keya, 27, is a leftist activist who has worked for the last eight years on securing the freedoms, rights and sovereignty of the Guallan people, pushing his country men to unify into a single state to step onto the world stage.

Keya’s fellow members of the the Provisional State Council include David Bazin, 40; John Bullo, 40; Penelope Susonios, 26; Henry Shale, 24; Michelle Arefani, 20; and Laura Legesse, 42. The Provisional State Council, recognizing the shared culture, identity and language of the many Guallan people, have declared the sovereignty of the nation, with the right to defend itself from other nations, to enter into economic and diplomatic relations with its neighbors.

Keya, first amongst equals, serves as head of the Provisional State Council, which in itself has been declared the highest authority in the land. Shale has been appointed as the commander of the newly declared Guallan Defensive Guard, designated to protect the country of some seven million people and to establish order throughout the country. Keya has called on the Guallan people to stand together as one as hey wrote the first chapter in the new history of their nation.

Keya puts forth thd Guallan Constitution!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
19 April 2138 | Gualla City, Guallan Commonwealth

Philippe Keya, the man who has spearheaded the Guallan Independence Movement and who just last week proclaimed the independence before a press conference, appeared once more, this time with the new document, the Guallan Constitution, written following a several day convention in Gualla City by magistrates from across the country. Keya announced that in two weeks the people of Gualla shall have the opportunity to participate in a plebiscite to affirm their support for the new constitution.

Meanwhile, Philippe Keya has been proclaimed by the Provisional State Council as the the new Consul of Gualla, set to hold the position until elections can be held as the commonwealth begins to adopt democratic institutions layout in the framework of the constitution. The move has been met with moderate approval in and around Gualla City, though with reports of discontent in the rural countryside as debates begin over the future of the young country, particularly in the western part of the nation.

Most decisively had been the Provisionak State Council’s decision to declare martial law over the territory claimed by the commonwealth, with Commander Henry Shake announcing a new policy of conscription for all able bodied men over the age of twenty into the Guallan Defensive Guard. I n the west and north in particular there has been vocal resistance to this form of nation building as Gualla begins assembling the institutions of government.

The Afterbirth of Gualla!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
29 April 2138 | Gualla City, Guallan Commonwealth

A sense of instability has shaken the very foundation of young state. As polls closed as the Guallan people were presented with the constitution drafted by the constitutional convention in Gualla City, it left its drafters stunned, even before polling ended as only 16% of people voiced their approval of the document. The landslide rejection of Philippe Keya’s constitution and his position as Provisional Consul has also seen a plummeting in support of the Provisional State Council as large swaths the nation refuse to recognize them as the chief authority.

Keya and most of the Provisional State Council have made no comment, or in the case of Laura Legesse suggested a sense of ungratefulness is permeating through the countryside. Henry Shale, commander of the Guallan Defensive Guard has however broken with the rest of the Provisional State Council, calling for both the continued policy of martial law and for a second constitutional convention to held to redo and reform it in order to meet with the public approval.

Outside of Gualla City however, others have taken more extreme stances against what they see as a attempt by an unrepresentative few to dictate the future of all. In the west, John Retta— nicknamed Right Jack on account of his prosthetic left arm, position as a lawyer and right-wing lent— has formed the Guallan National Union, a far-right group that seeks to organize the independence and governance of Gualla. Retta, 40, has begun advocating for a strong popular figure who can unite the country behind him, not a ‘liberal self appointed extremist’ as he referred to Keya. Retta now calls for a form of governance and a foundation built on improving the economic future of a United Gualla.

Meanwhile in the north, on the far opposite end of the spectrum, a socialite and celebrity chef has named Chole Omuk, 35, has become the face of liberation revolution as she and co-founder Florence Naonam, 37, have formed the Citizen’s Liberation Front, a libertarian effort for the decentralization of power and forming of a loose Guallan confederacy in which power is left largely in the hands of the everyday citizen in an extreme form of democracy. Naonam has been accused by Legresse of being an anarchist and Omuk as motivated by a desire to profit off of the chaos that would be present under such a regime.

As the current situation is developing, the future looks increasingly unclear as only mere pockets of control exist under the influence of the three groups, while much and more of the country holds its breath or begins to follow their own path.

King Berengar declares support for United Gualla

May 1, 2138

King Berengar announced his support of the United Gualla movement in the commonwealth recently proclaimed. The Guallan Crisis has been once closely watched by bright observers in Riessany and the rapid breakdown of authority of the Provisional State Council has been found to be alarming. King Berengar expressed his support not to Philippe Keya, the self proclaimed Consul of Gualla but instead for the more realistic John Retta of the Guallan National Union, also referred to simply as United Gualla by many in Riessany. The king cited the importance of strength and authority in the power of a leader.

King Berengar has advocated for a modern form of the Leviathan, a singular strong political authority who can successfully guide and protect both a nation and its people. King Berengar has previously cited that his mission in life, by the grace of God had been to restore the Riessan Empire, and it is his firm belief that Gualla, to survive the violent and uncertain times—as seen by the ongoing Celestial-Seoyese War and the ever shifting political power plays between the Grand Alliance and the Valwa Crowns, bust be lead by a strong man who can uplift the nation and protect it.

This despotic attitude has been met with further popularity amongst Riessans, where many remember all to well the devastation democratization, constitutionalism and a weak central authority lead to decades of instability, chaos, and bloodshed, and were only ended by the return of a strong monarch to the throne. Many have pointed to the reigns of Edward I and Edward II as the golden age of Riessan power, which were dissolved by the weak rule of Taylor and his sons due to disastrous reforms and regencies.

As King Berengar leads House Maranyon and Riessany into the future, some have begun to question the influence of the Privy Council. Should the king not have complete and total authority over the affairs of the realm, for the safety and security of society? It is a sentiment widespread throughout much of the country, that two heads is one too many when it comes to leadership and the prosperity of the nation. One nation should have One house under One King.

The United Gualla Army!

The Guallan Gazette (
Sameul Mimo)
2 May 2138 | Gomoha, United Gualla

John Retta, leader of the Guallan National Union greeted the assembled United Gualla Army, a self assembled militia of several thousand men in the western city of Gomoha which has been declared the provisional capital of Gualla. The UGA, in part named by the recent support from the Riessan Grand Kingdom, is a volunteer armed force. Significantly may have join after leaving the Guallan Defensive Guard units sent out to establish martial law across the country. Over 2,000 men signed up in Gomoha along with hundreds more across the west of the country. Armed with Ortraud-37’s they have secured much of the west of Gualla and have announced their intention to move east to liberate and secure a united Gualla.

Retta has appointed Jeremy Tsega to lead the Eastern Expedition of the UGA in order to liberate the rest of Gualla from the control of the pretender government in Gualla City. Retta has ordered the council there and the members of the GDG who have not yet seen reason to lay down their arms and join the UGA.

Unsurprisingly this has been met with push back from the east, where Henry Shale has baselessly denounced John Retta as a criminal for daring to stand against the unpopular regime attempting to take hold in the city of Gualla. In response Right Jack as declared the members of the provisional state council criminals and put on free range to be taken in by the proper authorities.

Hundreds Dead in Genoga!

The Guallan Gazette (
Sameul Mimo)
5 May 2138 | Gomoha, United Gualla

Violence broke out in the city outskirts of the port of Genoga on the eastern coast of Gualla as Henry Shale and the Guallan Defensive Guard clashed with Jeremy Tsega and the UnitecGula Army as Tsega moved to liberate the port city from the thumb of the provisional state council. As Tsega moved to speak with the local magistrates however, Shale and his GDG men arrived and opened fire on the members of the UGA turning the streets into a bloodbath as gun fire cut through the air.

Tragically, outnumbered, Tsega was shot through the neck and soon after died from his wounds as the fighting tore through homes and small farms as the UGA, despite their best efforts were unable to break the hold of the GDG and s preach the Genoga town council building and liberate the local magistrates of the port itself. Hundreds are estimated to have died in the fighting on both sides, among them many of the fortunate civilians caught in the street fighting.

The outbreak of fighting between the UGA and the GDG has stroked the fears of many across the country of outright hostility. In Gomoha, John Retta has dubbed Tsega a true Guallan Hero and denounced the GDG and Shale as traitors and brother-killers. The firing on fellow Guallans has sparked protests across the south and central cities of Gualla against the Provisional State Council. In Gomoha already a thousand more men have rushed to take up the arms of their fallen fathers and brothers to defend the people from the tyranny of the Provisional State Council.

Shale has in response ordered a further crackdown on movement and control in the eastern part of the country. UGA sympathizers are under threat of arrest and thus the future of Gualla lays in the hands of the bravest of its citizens.

The Duke of Jouille arrives in Gualla

May 7, 2138

The Duke of Jouille, the same general who only months ago lead the intervention into Guyenia on the Lajaz Coast, has arrived on the southern coast of Gualla. The Duke of Jouille arrived accompanied by 800 of the newly formed Riessan Volunteers, an expeditionary force of soldiers who’ve signed up to aid the United Gualla. While the Riessan Volunteers was formed over a week earlier, the recent death of Jeremy Tsega and hundreds of others in Genoga has galvanized the sentiment.

With King Berengar in support of the United Gualla Army, Riessan weapons, medicine, supplies and now soldiers have been otherwise to enter Gualla as foreign aid. 200 million rhinettes worth has been shipped over from Riessany. The Duke of Jouille, brother-in-law of the king has arrived as a military advisor to John Retta and the rest of United Gualla in their fight against the unjust tyranny of the unpopular Provisional State Council and the anarchy of the far north of Gualla under Chloe Omok and Florence Naonam for the sake of stabilizing the country.

Revolution!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
8 May 2138 | Gualla City, Guallan Commonwealth

Riots have erupted in the streets of Gualla City as thousands turned against the Provisional State Government following the death of so many in Genoga. Once ardent supporters of Keya have started to waiver as the firing on fellow Guallans, and the disregard of civilian lives has painted the Provisional State Council in exceeding poor light.

In an attempt to dampen the dissent, Keya ordered the arrest of the commander of the Guallan Defensive Guard, on whose order the firing on the UGA forces, Henry Shale. Shale was take forcibly by officers and is currently en route back to Gualla to face a court martial, though Shale reportedly argued that that he was defending the state from insurgences.

Despite the arrest, chaos still grows as the sun sets in Gualla City. Reports of lifting is spreading in the eastern and central part of the city, where the population lives in the most dense confines. The Provisional State Council have retreated to the Townhall Building, were the remainder of the GDG has taken defensive positions as they move to restore order in the city.

The Formation of the National Committee!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
9 May 2138 | Gualla City, Guallan Commonwealth

As riots continue to ravage the street, with no end in sight and the Provisional State Council bunkered down in the Townhall, some citizen have opted to take matters into their own hands. Louis Asres, 63, president of Guallan First Bank; businessman Pierce Degife, 53; along with magistrates Cecil Hagan, 61, and Wallace Amare, 57, have joined forces to form the National Committee, a provisional coalition of liberal-conservatives against Philippe Keya’s Provisional State Council and seeking mediation with the United Gualla Army.

Claiming to be the voice of the revolution, the Old Guards have released a statement denouncing the Provisional State Council as radicals who have attempted to over each and have thus mislead the country. In the same breath the Old Guards of the National Committee called on the end of hostilities, seeking mediation with the Duke of Jouille and John Retta in forming a unified national constitutional commission to create the framework of a new state. This comes on the heels of news that Genoga, out matched by UGA and Riessan Volutneers, has gone over to United Gualla.

The National Committee also began flying a new flag, the horizontal blue, gold and white tricolor, calling for all Guallans to rally around it. The tricolor has been quickly adopted by the revolutionaries in the city, who’ve begun using shoelaces to tie it to the tops of buildings. Hagan in particular has taken to the streets to organize the forces in the city, asserting that mob rule must not be tolerated, and that instead the revolution must be put in the hands of the Fathers of the Nation in order to lead the way forward.

The Fall of Keya!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
11 May 2138 | Gualla City, Guallan Commonwealth

Philippe Keya, once leader of the independence of Gualla, was taken from the Townhall as Cecil Hagan and the revolutionaries under the command of the National Committee have taken the whole of the city. Keya, along with his cohorts, David Bazin, John Bullo, Penelope Susonios, and Michelle Arefani were made to resign from their positions and placed under arrest. At the same time, Henry Shale, arrived finally in Gualla City joined them. Perhaps more wavy, Laura Legresse elected to twitch sides, joining the Old Guards and becoming its fifth member.

With the former provisional government in custody and the city under their control, Hagan ordered the laying down of arms and from those taking to the street, ordering people home as the National Committee declared the end of the revolution and a new dawn for the state of Gualla. The order also oversaw the reformation of the Guallan Defensive Guard, who have taken new defensive positions on the perimeter of the city as the UGA continue to bear down on the city. This occurs even as the National Committee pushed for a peaceful solution and compromise.

The Genoise Mail
Queen Louise’s Second Five Year Plan

Genes, Genes
June 1, 2138

Queen Louise announced the implementations of her new Five Year Plan, the second of which she has created in her pursuit of increasing the wealth and stability of Genes. Where her first Five Year Plan (2132-2137) over saw massive overhauling of the national education system, the establishing of new polytechnic institutions, high protective economic policies and the subsidizing of major businesses and industries, most notably the cosmetics industry of which Genes is the leader in across the world, the Queen’s newest plan is set to be far more economical.

“The Genoise are by nature,” the Queen said as she presented the plan to her Court, “an industrious people, and now, with the basis of strength, science and secular education, we can build up our market and expand it, to the rest of the world!”

The new Five Year Plan is set to over the economic shifting of Genes into heavy industries capacity, already finding open markets with its neighbors under the Valwa Crowns. Sector monopolies have been set up, and will be bid on, while post university graduates will fine ease of employment through new nation wide examination and vetting process under the National Employment Agency, while heavy subsidies are set to go into infrastructure revitalization, machine and superstructure construction and textile mass production.

This focus on heavy industry has also been taken by some as part of the Valwa-Volonte Spilt, as Genes goes from being a customer of the Celestial Empire, to a competitor as an annual tariff increase is set for the next five years against Deritain products. Meanwhile, Princess Helena, the Queen’s granddaughter has been appointed as the new Minister of Agriculture and Urban Development in her long campaign effort of insuring the growing Genoise economy is green and sustainable.

Charles LeCastle dies age 101

7 June 2138
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

Charles LeCastle, one of the wealthiest men in the Celestial Empire died last night peacefully in his sleep at the age of 101. LeCastle, a great-grandson of the famed Jonathan LeCastle (regarded as the first de facto prime minister of the Celestial Empire and the Architect of the Meillureux War and the foreign policy of Emperor Gitte and too lived to be a centenarian) was a shrewd businessman and humanitarian.

He famously inherited his vast wealth from the aforementioned Jonathan LeCastle following a fall out between him and his son and many grandchildren, of whom only Charles and his cousin Prince Jonathan of Connuriste were spared his wrath. The massive assets and land holding of the LeCastle Estate were spilt between the two and Charles would campaign relentlessly for the other half until 2096 when upon Prince Jonathan’s death he inherited it in its entirety.

Following the Great Collapse, Charles LeCastle, unlike many of his fellow billionaires was able to maintain his wealth through investing in the healthcare system of the Celestial Empire, particularly in Aukusa City, with LeCastle Pharmaceutical Company, providing first aid supplies, surgical equipment and other medicinal products. Charles married Pauline de Mauléart, of the Haroa Mauléarts, with whom he his only child, his daughter Marie-Louise LeCastle.

With his death, he leaves the entirety of his vast fortune and majority holdings in LeCastle Pharmaceutical Company in the hands of his daughter, the 49 year old Marie-Louise, Duchess of Newport , with the expecting of LeCastle Manor which was given to his widow, 89 year old Pauline LeCastle for the duration of the rest of her life. Charles LeCastle also leaves behind four grandchildren, Lord Jonathan LeCastle (27 and father with Lady Clementine Rohan of the 16 day old Henrietta LeCastle, LeCastle’s only great-grandchild at the time of his death), Lady Adelaide Blackthorn (25 and one-time prospective bride of Andeja IV), Lady Natalie Blackthorn (22 former lady-in-waiting to Princess Imperial Ziyanda) and Lord Alexander LeCastle (19).

With her inheritance, Duchess Marie-Louise becomes one of the wealthiest women on the continent amongst the ranks of the likes (if behind) of Nyantsa Lota and Loris Pearson.

Election of the first King of Gualla!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
26 June 2138 | Gua City, Commonwealth of Gualla

From Lyonhall, seat of the Provisional Convention of the Commonwealth, an invitation has been issued to none other than Lord Alexander LeCastle, the twenty year old son of the Duke and Duchess of Newport. The Invitation to the Throne, issued to Blackthorn Manor, was written by Cecil Hagan and signed by the members of the Provisional Convention, was voted on by the convention after much debate over potential candidates.

Indeed, Lord Alexander LeCastle was something of a dark horse in the discussion, with the foremost candidate thought to be Prince Rudolf, younger brother of King Berengar. The Provisional Convention seems to have sought after a young man with an aristocratic and some connection to the Riessany Royal Family. In all this they find their choice in Lord Alexander, a man of only twenty, son of a Duke and cousin of the Queen of Riessany, as well as being nephew of the King of Great Hyruke.

Lord Alexander, relatively obscure, gain the attention of members of the Provisional Convention through a news article in the Gaosa Gazette reporting on the death of the nobleman’s grandfather, a wealthy businessman, Charles LeCastle. While the invitation was reportedly met with disapproval from the nobleman’s father, it has been accepted by him, taking up the regnal name of King Alexander of Gualla. The new king is to arrive in Gomoha where he will swear a constitutional oath as king.

Air Service to Conduct Exercises with new Mv-202 Fighter Jet over Tugik and Tovak Island

Image

The Air Service has long stubbornly held on to the venerable and reliable Mv-201 system, and only recently and with some reluctance did the new and untested Mv-202 make it into any service at all, despite being a clear generational improvement over the Mv-201 platform, being faster, boasting a larger ordinance load, and packing better avionics and electronics systems, including an on board radar system mounted in the nose. However, the aircraft has since proven quite popular with its pilots, and many officers have called for a proper demonstration of its abilities in a large scale exercise.

It would seem that those calls have finally been given an answer, as two squadrons, the XI and XX Fighter Squadrons, have been selected to begin an exercise, nicknamed Operation Ocean Odyssey, these two squadrons will be pitted against VII, VIII and V Squadrons, flying a mix of Mv-201 fighters and MvB-201 fighter bombers, and they will be joined by III Bomber squadron playing as objectives in the exercise. The scenarios that will be held in the exercises including Air Supremacy, which will similarly air to air dogfights, where the objective will simply who can take down the other. There will also be objective defense scenarios, where each side will have to guard a flight of bombers, and escort them from one location to another, and the opposition will attempt to ‘shoot down’ the objectives, and finally an Air Defense scenario, where one side will be given the objective of ‘destroying’ an airfield guarded by the other in a variety of scenarios, including a simulated response to a surprise attack by naval aircraft.

These exercises are scheduled to begin in four months time, as the Air Service makes necessary preparations and unit movements to make the exercise possible. The Air Service has stated that it would give civilian air traffic a thirty day notice before the exercise begins to stay clear of the area for safety reasons, and likewise those within enough distance where it is thought concern could be caused would be notified at a similar time period beforehand to help prevent accidents and miss understanding’s. The Air Service has put out an invitation to foreign observers to come and witness the exercise as it unfolds.

National General Elections begin in Gualla!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
26 July 2138 | Gua City, Commonwealth of Gualla

Thousands are going out to vote as the country holds its first ever national general elections for the Parliament of the Commonwealth. 46 seats have been put up for election in Gualla with as many as 140 candidates competing for a seat. With the election, the first political parties have formed, largely out of previous paramilitary and political organizations on various parts of the spectrum.

Commanding the center right, the Guardian Party succeeds the Old Guard, pushing for a father knows best approach, with great support for the monarchy and focusing on economic freedom and prosperity. Meanwhile on the far right resides the United Guallan Alliance, successor to the United Guallan Army, a militant and nationalist party dominated by the fiery John Retta.

Retta, running to represent his home town of Gomoha, has been criticized for his authoritarian leaning and even neo-fascist sentiments. However he is an avid supporter of the alliance with Riessany and increasing the national military budget.

In a more democratic section of the right, the Liberation Party under Bernice Bona has formed out of the Northern Liberation Movement. Focused largely on economic liberalization and reduced government involvement, the Libertarian Party also boasts a strong feminist stance, and is the only party to put forth any female candidates, with some nicknaming it the Purple Party.

Lastly, a new comer to the political arena is the newly formed People’s Party, a center-left party focused on guaranteeing human rights for women, minorities, and immigrants to the commonwealth.
