Foreign Student Visits
IC thread
Background:
The Uldartre Academy (officially the Uldartre Academy for the Education of Future Minds) was founded by Dr. Henrius Uldartre's 'Future Minds Foundation,' following the gift of a former royal summer residence in 1843. It's mission statement was, and still remains simple: to educate those students who would go on to lead Celeria, The Greater Vakolicci Haven or even the world in whatever fields they chose: be it science, sport, arts, linguistics or a host of more specialised subjects the school was set up to teach.
By 1870, Uldartre Academy was known as the most prestigious academy of learning in the entirety of the Haven, and had outgrown the enitial pallace, erecting 5 large academic buildings in its spacious grounds which are still used today. It's costs went up, and its entrence examination became more stringent, until it could finally atract the Haven's best young minds. Importantly, it was the first school to offer schollarships to disadvantaged, but brilliant, children from less well-off families. By 1925, schools around the world were using the 'Uldartre system' of individually-taylored learning, small class sizes, a specialised program of study and some of the greatest minds to educate the students.
In 2011, highly-educated Teacher Dr. Miro Dirali was elected headteacher by staff and senior students after the deathe retirement of his predecessor. Derali came to the school with new ideas, and began to give the students a greater say in the running of the academy. One of his most ambitious schemes to date, however, has been the highly-successful foreign exchange scheme he began in 2013. This scheme allowed a small number of students to bypass the usually stringent examination system and join the academy for a year, regardless of academic prowess. Though this was cancelled for 2014 due to political hostilities, the foreign exchange scheme has been replaced due to popular demand for the 2015 academic year.
info:
This is Uldartre Academy a school situated close to the Western Celari city of Roma. It is set within what was once a Royal residence, and retains its grandure, including within its confines a large boating lake, top-of-the range sporting facilities, university-grade science and technology laboratories, the palaces original 17th century theatre, as well as a large amount of recreation and social spaces for students including restaurants and fully-stocked bars. Students will be housed in the 17th-century palace itself, and the feeling of luxury is still retained. Slaves and servants are on call 24-hours a day to attend to students every need, and the food is cooked to the highest culinary professional standards. The students are not separated based on age or gender, and although most students choose to have a single room, it is possible to choose to share a room with another student of either gender. This request can be made upon arrival or at any point during the student's stay.
Uldartre Academy is pleased to announce that our previous policy of having the exchange program stay entirely student-led will stay in force, with a group of 4 or 5 students (depending on final numbers of exchange students) leading all events. Uldartre will endeavour to link the makeup of this group to the average age of exchange students and to the gender makeup of the group, however due to student's own personal preferernces we cannot assure you that this will be the case.
All exchange students will be entering through Roma City airport, terminal 3. If standard air services are not usually provided from any applying nation, for a nominal fee air services can be arranged by Uldartre Academy and our sponsoring Clans. Students shall be driven to the academy by school staff, where they will meet with their fellow exchange students, as well as their student guides, outside the main palace entrence. Students will complete a years standard education at Uldartre academy, after sitting the academic selection test to judge where the most suitable classes will be. Of course, individual subjects are soley the decision of the student, and the academic selection test will judge merely which classes in particular subjects a student should attend.
I shall be keeping this application period open for 2 weeks before I plan on starting the IC thread. If their are a lot of applications within this time, I may think about keeping it open longer (with consultation with the rest of the participants on the thread.) You may sign up as many students as you wish, although only 1 staff member.
So, all it is left for me to say is: let the madness begin!
Oh, and in case you're brave, and want to see what happened back in 2013, we didn't get to the end, people had fights, our brains got ripped apart by the scale of human depravity, and everyone struggled to think of how more insane they could get.
