Today the Ruolnikian National Board of Elections announced that RLA Party member Samuel Bulregard pulled out an astonishing victory of 58% over the Moderist Jakob Urlik and the Liberty Partyist Eric Myer (the latter receiving the next highest percentage at 24% of the vote).
Bulregard first announced he was running for the Ruolnik Liberation Army (RLA) ticket in January and was immediately greeted by the other two RLA party members competing for the election ticket, Daniel Jurvik and Simon Vertrik, announcing they were dropping out of the party Primaries to not hinder Bulregard's chances. This was the first of many tokens of gratitude received by Bulregard during his campaign, helping to predict the election results all along.
Affectionately known to many as "The General" for his distinguished military career as Ruolnik's top General during the 2000-2010 Lolloh Wars, Bulregard is a massive favorite among military and former military members and their families. After the wars Bulregard entered the political sphere when he used his military position and rank to attempt to heavily influence the General Assembly to approve of a bill increasing the retirement benefits for Ruol soldiers retiring from the military, a move which was meet with much joy by the populace and set a course for Bulregard's future as a politician.
However, this love for Bulregard cannot be found in all. Many who sympathize with Lolloh or wish to see tensions loosen have stated that Bulregard's presidency is "Among one of the worst blows to Ruolnik-Lolloh relations since the 2001 UMR crisis" as journalist William Ruthram puts it. Still, many look forward to the upcoming future and hope to see Bulregard's promises for a stronger Ruol-Pact, stronger military and more civil rights come true.

Celebrations of Bulregard's election are wide swept around Ruolnik, however the biggest election celebration is reportedly in Calamion, Elescu. Elescu is the 2nd province of Ruolnik and holds a large amount of autonomy. An Elescuian man interviewed in Calamoin during the celebrations explained why for us: "Bulregard is and always has been a friend of Elescu. He was one of the few who refused to let Elescu stay under the binds of Lollohian rule after we were taken over and it was he who drew the plans for our liberation. The freedoms we hold today are because of Bulregard, and that is why I consider myself proud to vote for him! Down with Lolloh!"

In other news, Bulregard's inauguration has yet to commence so we will have to wait for the new president to give a full speech, but he did announce that he was extremely thankful to his loyal voters and that he has officially resigned from the military and that General Douglas Mallamont will be taking over command of the Ruol Army prior to Bulregard being sworn into office.
