Gongmen, Jinning Province, Minroz, Year 1907

Gongmen, a vast and peaceful metropolis, one of the most important port cities and one of the oldest settlements in the Great Qing, alongside Yenking, Shanglong, Zhu and Janghai. For ages beyond counting, the Shen family - descendents of the general who served the founder of the Minrozian nation have ruled this city with benevolence and loyalty to their master, the Son of Heaven. Normally, Gongmen like the rest of coastal cities traded only with the Zhao nations...until the visit by the merchants from the Far West.

Best known as the free-trade zones in Minroz, where foreigners and locals alike are free to do business there, Gongmen is the one of the most prosperous coastal cities, thanks to its geographic location and lucrative trade routes. Since the majority of Gongmen’s inhabitants are involved in trading and craftsmanship, most of its revenue comes from trade, unsurprisingly. Nevertheless the city remained one of the important cities in the Empire.

Ever since Minroz opens itself up to the world over sixty years ago under the reign of Yinzhen Emperor. Gongmen had become the hub of merchants and visitors, be it foreigners and Minrozians, from aristocratic nobles to lowly commoners alike. And still remain today at the start of twentieth century as a gateway to the near-enigmatic realm of Minroz who had long shying itself away from the world. Under the Qianlong Emperor, grandson of Yinzhen and father of Temujin who is the today’s ruler as the Guangxu Emperor, he made the city of Gongmen as the early point of national modernisations taken place until the tragedy when he got infirmed by accident. Fortunately his policies are continued by his fifteen-year-old son, Jinmao Temujin also known as the Guangxu Emperor to his people. And that’s the first thing he did upon ascending the throne.

Finally, all the efforts of modernisation have paid off, allowing Minroz to be strong enough on par with advanced countries in the West. However, the Empire is still modernising with the help of foreign consultants and advisors.

Ever since Gongmen has open its doors to the world, many foreigners flocked there to seek their fortunes, whatever they could find. For good or ill.

Upon stepping foot into Gongmen, What adventures awaits those who chose to visit the Land of the Sunnymoon Mountains?

"Alright, the Valour is ready." Trajan Khamed walked into the smoky room. Sitting at a table sat a Ghazel, a Togian and a Hintindari divvying up money. They were merchants seeking fortune in Minroz.

"Right." The Togian a man named Vasili Yevgenniyevich Trubenko. He tossed a gold piece towards Khamed.

"I knew we signed up a Dacca on our project for a reason." Trubenko said. He grabbed an ice box, then looked at the questioning looks of his comrades.

"How do we know what we'll eat there? We should pack a little more than we need for the trip." He shrugged. The Hintindari, named Mohammad ibn Ibrahim al-Kindi sighed.

"What do you really have in there?" He asked. Trubenko opened the box and drew a sparkling bottle of vodka.

"No nation does this like us." He shrugged. Fan Irlanu, the Ghazel woman with them flashed a smile, as did Khamed.

"A toast. To the Valour! To new opportunities in Minroz!" Trubenko poured three shots of his drink, and tossed a second bottle filled with water towards al-Kindi, who did not drink. The friends laughed as the day faded to night.

Khamed groaned at the wheel. He had drunk a fair deal more than he had expected and knew that his pounding headache was punishment from some cruel god. Al-Kindi was working instruments while occasionally smirking towards the hungover others. Trubenko had more tolerance for the alcohol than the others and finally walked towards Khamed and asked,

"Do you want me to steer?" Khamed gave a searing glare towards the man's smug face.

"Fine!" Khamed stormed away as Trubenko started steering.

"We'll arrive in three days!" al-Kindi yelled over the purring engine of the boat.

"No we won't." Fan Irlanu pointed towards the sky. Trubenko frowned.

"Storm coming. Khamed, I've never gone through one of those famous Vitus storms before, I hope you start feeling better soon." Trubenko yelled towards the Dacca man who spat furiously into the water.
