Now just choose bullpup, or non-bullpup.
I can't speak as to whether it is available in/compatible for calibers other than 6.7x47mm ASA (Anemos' own intermediate), though I'd be inclined to think that if you do ask, you'll get.

On another note, AK-12 is planned to have 7.62x51mm variant, in addition to current 5.56x45mm, 5.45x39mm, and 7.62x39mm. It remains unclear to me how modular exactly AK-12 is though; it may or may not be able to switch barrels and calibers in the field.

Don't forget 6.5 Grendel :D

I SINCERELY doubt it. I own an AK74 IRL and they are NOT like M4s. The receiver is pretty much the entire gun and the barrel can't be removed without permanently sawing it off. No way the AK12 will be able to switch in the field.

Basically when you get a 5.45 AK with a X-inch length barrel, YOU GET A 5.45 AK WITH AN X-INCH LENGTH BARREL DAMMIT!

Personally, I don't mind. I'm not a gunsmith and I have no inclination to modify my Kalashnikov.
Gaveria wrote:I Know I haven't been accepted into the Coalition yet, however I was wondering if I could get some assistance from you guys with re-structuring the Allied States Defense Force.

I'm currently debating which Standard Infantry Rifle I will be using officially.I previously used the 61 Series(Link located in app), however following a doctrinal shift, I am starting to take into account logistics and modularity(If that is a word) more than the previous administration.

Currently I'm on the fence between the overused FN SCAR system and the HK 416/417 Family of firearms. I was previously considering the ACR to replace the 61 Series but have since ruled it out on the grounds of lacking a up-caliber sibling for those longer range engagements.

The Allied States Defense Force is moving away from the large scale WWII operations of the past and moving towards a small, more professional force with a eye towards future weapon systems development as well as urban operations. So in essence we're getting away from Soviet Style Mass Battle Formations to more precision strikes and ad-hoc combat units with an emphasis on firepower, flexibility and maneuverability at the Platoon and Company level.

HK416 in 6.5 Grendel. Period. (we have plenty of them the IHAPC Peacekeepers use)

Just a little curious as to why we should adopt the 6.5 round over our current standard 5.56 NATO & 7.56 NATO rounds?

My armed forces still uses the 6.8mm round, but we convert our weapons to 6.5mm for ICE operations for logistic's concern.

So your force has a standard round and then a different round for forces engage in ICE Operations? Sounds expensive buying two sets of everything.

All weapons using 6.8mm can be easily converted to a different barrel size, and we get most of the ammo through ICE. But yes, it can be expensive at times.

Quick question for those of ICE: how do you all feel with an air force that uses the F-35 as its main fighter (2020-2030 tech)?

I'm going to be frank.

Don't do it. The unit cost of the F-35 is still climbing, but I'd peg it at perhaps 20, 30 million USD less than F-22.

And for that 20-30 million in savings you get an aircraft that is far less capable than F-22. Stealth is pretty much the only good thing about the F-35; it is in fact less maneuverable than the F-4 dating from the 60s and slower than the F-15 which it is slated to replace as bomb truck.

And don't forget that the stealth capabilities of F-35 aren't very spectacular especially from the side or rear, so against an OPFOR flight flying spread out and sharing target data the stealth advantage is greatly reduced. Also, the piss poor maneuverability of F-35 means that for all the relatively advanced avionics it is equipped with, it would ironically enough often be able to detect but not jink from an incoming missile, reliant on countermeasures to do the job. In air-to-air combat, you'd be relying on your stealth and avionics to detect at BVR, and engage with missiles your adversaries before they can even see you. Failing that, you're likely fucked if the adversary survives (not unlikely; missiles actually have pretty low kill rates in general) and closes in on you, because you neither have the maneuverability to challenge nor the speed to flee.

All in all, overpriced and likely ineffectual in NS where everybody fields stealth aircraft.

Edit: Virana's F-29 is worth a look if you want something intended to fulfill pretty much the same roles as the F-35, different in that it was done right and didn't cost more than Australia's economy.

I say that you should stick with the NATO Round for now, but be prepared logistically to supply yourself during ICE operations, because everyone's using the ICE Round. But you're lucky with me, because Aleckandor also still uses the NATO Round because it hasn't completely phased out guns chambered for it within its military inventory. Some independent battle formations in my military still use the NATO Round as their prime ammunition together alongside the 6.5 mm. Grendel/ICE because their supplies come from independent munitions manufacturing sites.

The F-35 is currently (within the DUAF), when in air combat, used to approach from a long distance undetected and then attack from long range. If in short range, I honestly don't know the outcome: that's up to the RP, but I would assume it can handle itself (keeping upgrades in mind due to the age of the craft). However, I do also have use the F-29 in far more limited numbers within the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps Aviation; just mainly because I hold an odd preference for the F-35/

And with Symph and AQ having my back (you guys have my back, right?), I think that it's safe to say that your portion of East Taraka and Ecalpon will see the light of day once more.

I'm not a fan of the F-35. AFAI understand the concept, it's a bomb-truck that relies on advanced avionics to compensate for its unspectacular kinetic performance in A2A. It will likely run into difficulties when fighting high performance 4.5-gen fighters like the Eurofighter or advanced Flanker derivatives, even if they are less stealthy. Emmeria's Super Viper is a safer bet for a multirole. Frankly, given how bloated the f-35 program has become it probably offers you significantly better value for money.

Bear in mind that kinetic performance isn't only relevant in WVR combat, but in BVR as well. If Carlo is to be believed, factors such as thrust and agility are vital if you want to dodge BVRAAMs in a supersonic BVR engagement. In this sort of scenario, the canards and modernised Flankers have an indisputable advantage over the F-35.
