Hey there fellow stalkers, have I got news for you!

A super secret source of mine has just told me that Chancellor Morning Star from the Greater Pony Herd has an extreme fetish!

one word: carrots...

I KNOW RIGHT! I couldn't believe it when my source told me, not only has he bought way too many of our favorite orange root but lets just say the the pharmacies are running a little low on lubrication (if you catch my drift). From what I have been told this has been going on for years, now I'm not one who want to spoil anyponies fun but there are starving foal and junk that really could have used those carrots. If you don't believe me you don't have to take my word for it just take a gander at this interview I had with the stallion himself!

Morning Star: It’s a pleasure, Ms. Snitch.

SS: Now lets get down to business, how long have you had a thing for carrots?

MS: A thing for...carrots? Well, I like carrots. I liked them since I was but a tiny foal. Why...?

SS: Wow so this has been going on since you were little huh? and your parents never found out?

MS: What has been going on? I just like carrots.

SS: I’m sure you do Chancellor, I’m sure you do...now is it just carrots or do you enjoy using other veggies as well?

MS: I like other vegetables of course, but carrots are my favourite...what kind of an interview is that, am I on a cooking show?

SS: Ha ha ha, I don’t think they’d let you on a cooking show Chancellor I’ve never heard of an x-rated cooking show before!

MS: Why would it have to be X-rated? What are you talking about?

SS: Don’t play coy Chancellor, I think you know why it would be x-rated.

MS: ...I really don’t.

SS: Oh, please playing the oblivious politician isn’t going to fool anypony!

MS: I seriously do not know why are we talking about carrots and cooking shows now.

SS: Typical, I try to have a serious interview about your deviant sexual fetishes and you just stonewall me!

Militaristic Celebrations Across Kouralia!

Across Kouralia yesterday there was a great celebration of the Die Honora, or Day of Honour. The Die Honora is separate to the Remembrance day celebrated in Kouralia (along side many other nations) in that it celebrates joyously the military prowess and strength of the nation, as opposed to the sombre memorial to those who have given their lives for their nations. Yesterday there were both the official festivities within Kurton and the localised and smaller parties. The nation ground to a halt as well, for Die Honora is one of the national holidays celebrated in the Union.

The Die Honora was instituted during the reign of the Tyrant as an opportunity to showcase his latest efforts to turn the military into a power-house for the region, and has (unlike much of his legacy) remained past the second civil war and onset of democracy due to its popularity with the populace. However, unlike most years, this year hearkened back to the days of the Tyrant for in 2012 there was the additional celebration of the completion of the modernisation programme for the Kouralian military.

Over the last week the build-up to Die Honora had begun in earnest: across Chieti there were exercises involving the Royal Army, National Air Force and Royal Navy. Many military bases set up small fairs to give citizens experience in more modern military life such as firing some of the latest weaponry and, in some cases, driving the latest vehicles! However, the big events were reserved for the 24^th: the day began at 9am with the beginning of a procession through Kurton where representatives from many military units participating in the march through the streets. Included in the march were the Silverfin Guards, resplendent in their Claret and Blue dress uniforms, members of the DSW in their black and red and the Royal Guards. In addition to the dismounted and marching men there were a great many vehicles throughout the column: including the G-6 Howitzers, SMLV-5 Strategic Missile Launch Vehicle, Puma LUVs and Leopard 2 AK-II Main Battle Tanks. The procession ended with a parade of forces in front of the Royal Palace in Down-town Kurton, attended by the Royal Family, First Minister and many senior military officials. At 11:00 the engines of the vehicles ceased and the whole parade came to attention to hear the First Minister speak. In the speech he gave he promised that the record-low numbers of the military 'do not mean we are forsaking those to whom we owe our freedom, for the Territorial Army programme has ensured the army's strength can easily be increased by over 5 fold in 48 hours.' He described this as being 'the true deterrent' to any who would 'threaten our sovereignty in vain'. He also spoke of the new technologies such as the UXV Surface Combatant (a light, UAV carrier) and the Pegasus Battlefield Intelligence System (a way of giving soldiers greater access to intuitive and important information, such as the locations of key positions) as being able to 'offer a greater ability for Force Projection and combat prowess'. However he also swore that the 'hearts and honour of our men' were the true key to victory.

The First Minister also spoke out against those who would 'annihilate civilians and the innocent in their unending quest for blood-shed'. This event was described as marking the end of Kouralia's near-isolation state, and it is now hoped that the nation and it's re-vamped military will play a greater role on the world stage in the coming months and years.

A previously unheard of restaurant had skyrocketed from just a few costumers to almost all the population of Yorobia City. Why? Because the invention of a new drink called smile. Costumers have been interviewed and they said that joyous thoughts were sifting through there head, making the drink even more enjoyable. The restaurant owner, McSwagger, was also interviewed. At first the interview went well, but then the conversation turned and McSwagger accused the press member of being a spy because of the repeated question of what the ingredients were. Clearly, the press member was not happy with being harassed. He just wanted the ingredients to tell McSwaggers rivals how to make the drink~I mean, er, so he could, uh... see you next time, and happy travels.

Two press members fired!

Two press members have been uncovered as spies after a recent story about a drink called smile. Their intent was to steal the recipe for the drink and give it to their restaurant owners.

The agents were caught because the earlier story. The last few sentences said enough. The agents were sent to jail for a time period of 3 years. This may seem like a lot of time for a guy who wanted to steal a recipe, but this amazing drink in other hands would have brought down the original maker's fame.

War on the Southern Coast of the Mainland Sparks International Outrage
Claims of Genocide Shake the Spires

MELVIDIR, Crystal Spires: On the 13th of the month of Sunrage, the Spirean waters were violated as according to a deadline demanding the life of the High Chancellor Maven Auryn. Maven surrendered to the deadline leaving for Nefreedia and the Ships of the Nefreedians from the Northermark passed by Melvidir and were met by the Spirean Navy and were engaged all the way to the mainland where the Navy was crushed. The Nefreedians took heavy losses and made it to the mainland in Rulkdjetaasha, Irianul, and Tabril's docks, thankfully avoiding the lands of Vinyelaujor, protected by those beloved of Luna. It was said that shortly 3 hours after massive bombardment by missiles which destroyed several hospitals and schools, that Rulkdjetaasha's support was lost, followed by a massacre of Spirean Civilians. The Massacres have continued while the Spireans have fled to the north, the Tabrilians ruled and occupied by Nefreedian cannibalistic unbidden, and Irianul was shelled and rumors continue about the use of a nuclear weapon. The terror continues as the public watches with bated breath at the clashes by the Idealists and the NefSoc totalitarian speciesists.

Crystal Spireans are still uncertain as to the claims made by Nefreedians who claim the High Chancellor did not present himself before the deadline, and many suspect that he was murdered and his murder was covered up to provide the pretense for war. The Spireans mourn the loss of the High Chancellor, and hope that his soul may rest easy knowing that the Spirean people still stand strong in the face of adversity. High Chancellor Eames Gromkin has declared a state of emergency in the Southern regions as refugees flee to the north. Accounts of witnesses claim that men, women, and children are all being targeted without any distinguishing claim to age or gender. The ones at highest risk are Demihumans and Beastlings, and they are quickly being evacuated to the north as the towns of Vierenspire on the passage and the passage to Glorelheim and Merlon are crowded as the Spirean Rangers and Idealists struggle to protect the refugees on their passage northward.

Council Passes Controversial ASIS Act Today
OSS: Nothing to Worry About

The Lykosian Ponies' Council passed Anti-Subversion & Internal Security (ASIS) Act today. The ASIS Act is intended to support national security, basically to protect the nation from any actual and potential security threat; from terrorism to separatist, subversion and counter revolutionary activities. It was approved by a unanimous vote of 258 for, 40 against and 2 abstained and thereupon signed by the president.

With the act's passage, the state now has a legal basis to do any action necessary to eliminate any effort, activity, and/or events, both from domestic and overseas that disrupt and threaten the security of individual citizens, community, nation and the existence of the state, as well as the sustainability of national development. This act also extends the power of intelligence bodies like the Office of State Security, Republican Intelligence Service, and the National Armed Forces, in accordance with their respective functions. The said bodies now have a special authority to arrest, detain, and investigate; as set forth in the explanation of Article 54, Paragraph 5.

Several groups oppose this act, accuse it as 'repressive' due to the wide definition of national security threat which could be a room for power abuse to silence oppositions. However, Office of State Security director Iron Shield denied this. "Power abuse is not possible," he assured. "Any form of power abuse is punishable by the law, same like corruption, according to the Criminal Code. So there's nothing to worry about. There are also restrictions for this special authority which prevent these state bodies' authorities from overlapping each other, especially with the National Police. They will do their duties according to their own functions."

This act is also a response to recent tensions in the international level, which increases the threat of foreign intelligence operations in Lykosia. ASIS Act enables the OSS, as a counter-intelligence body to suppress the possibility, especially since the defense condition of the Unitary Republic has been heightened until now.

Anti-Subversion & Internal Security Act: Covert Passarianism or Normal Safety Measures?
Spirean Communists Speak Out on the Importance of Liberty & Communism

CALTRIS, Crystal Spires: On the eve of Lykosia's passage of the Anti-Subversion & Internal Security (ASIS) Act, Crystal Spireans have been speaking out and criticizing the bill for what is to be believed as an attack on Lykosian's civil liberties. For our readers abroad: Mythorian Libertarian Communism, unlike Passarian Authoritarian Communism expresses the importance of heavy-duty emphasis on individual freedom because of the risk of becoming totalitarianism. For this reason, Passarian Communism is deeply criticized and detested by the majority of Spirean people with a small exception for North-Eastern Spireans who claim that strength of resolve demands Passarian Communism. Many Spireans feel that Lykosia, with this act passed, is falling into the slippery slope of Passarianism and may perhaps attack their own citizens for their private political, religion, and social beliefs. With this in mind, the Spirean people have been protesting outside of the Lykosian Embassy in hopes that in the face of international pressure, Lykosians will revoke the act and release their political prisoners.

It is a strong problem in the international scale that Communism, as we know it, is facing a crisis of conscience. The people of Crystal Spires's belief in the promotion of social welfare and anti-statism grinds a nasty friction with other 'self-ascribed' Socialist Countries. With the incurring of Civil Liberties by nations like Lykosia, and the protection of rights being infringed by nations like New Freedomstan and Greater Mackonia and other Authoritarian regimes who claim to be socialist, a defined identity as Mythorian Communist has been the most common defense against those members in Capitalist alliances who claim that Socialism and Communism is an inherent attack on sapient rights. Spirean people have asserted that perhaps it is an internationally human problem, because the greater majority of nations which abuse civil liberties and protected sapient rights have been human, the existence of the ASIS act and Greater Mackonia has furthered the Spirean belief that it may be a problem inherent with foreigners rather than a species specific problem. Nationalist tensions have been rising as the belief in Isolationism has become more and more of a popular idealist front being led by Spirean Council woman Reye Tradonil, who said in the most recent press release that

“Spireans must forget about the interests of foreigners and close our borders to the foreign menace. They have bought Spirean interest with the allure of comradeship, but with their blasphemous interpretations of Communism and their constant issues of hate and their inherent thirst for Spirean blood, they have betrayed us.”

Reye Tradonil's statements have been countered by Forntians and Mythorians alike, citing the mutually beneficial alliances with the Greater Pony Herd and the sporadic help from the Eternal Necrontyr Empire of The C'tan, but with the betrayal by New Freedomstan, the tensions building with Lykosia, and the Anti-Spireanism building on all fronts, it is clear that many Spireans feel that International Affairs have become a more dangerous place for Spireans everywhere.

Another Battle In the War On Slavery; Fighting In the Eight Republics Continues

The military campaign against the slaver state of the Grand Federation of the Eight Republics that has started by the Greater Herd almost a month ago upon the discovery of international slave trading company being operated by the Republican government is still going on, the G.P.H. invasion force meeting a great degree of success and general failure of the belligerent force to cobble up any meaningful defences. G.P.H. bomber aircraft and naval assets meet little resistance aside from coast gun batteries.

Herdite land forces' march through the Federal lands has also been an undeniable success so far: the technological and organizational failings of the Federal military and the general unwillingness of the common people to fight for the corrupt slaver oligarchy has led to a series of easy victories for the Herd. Three of the eight eponymous republics have surrendered to the Herd so far, Ollnborg, Bremen and Friesland, and countless thousands of slaves were liberated. Dozens of slave camps were infiltrated by Herdite paratroopers and their inmates freed. The Herdite forces are continuing their march deeper inside the Federation and it is expected that the slaver capital will be reached in a couple of weeks, if not days.

Back at the Greater Herd thousands celebrate the victories of our brave colts and fillies abroad and eagerly await their return home to greet the victors and lay to rest those who have given their lives in the fight against the slaver serpent with due honors. The unavoidable victory over the slaver regime in the Federation is highly anticipated by the Herdite government as the Herd's first own victory over a slaver state, and the war effort enjoys unanimous support among the populace, save for the tiny but vocal anti-Amistad minority who never miss the chance to denounce the declaration for promotion of needless warmongering, war crime, brutality and breaking international laws. However, images and recordings of maltreated pony slaves liberated in the Republic have promptly silenced most of the denunciators.

Lykosian Anti-Subversion Act Sparks Controversy; Gulags On Their Way Back To Lykosia?

Hundreds of ponies have gathered today in front of the Lykosian embassy in Flankfurt am Mane to protest against the "Anti-Subversion & Internal Security (ASIS) Act" (often referred to as the ASS Act by the protesters) passed today by the government of the Unitary Republic. The ASIS Act, to quote Lykosian sources, gives "the state a legal basis to do any action necessary to eliminate any effort, activity, and/or events, both from domestic and overseas that disrupt and threaten the security of individual citizens, community, nation and the existence of the state, as well as the sustainability of national development".

Many Herdites feel that this act gives the Lykosian government a free hoof to detain their own citizens on the basis of 'undesirable' political or religious beliefs. Combined with Lykosia's recent turn to a 'guided democracy', a system that often results in the establishment of a presidential and nomenklatura dictatorship, former curbing of the free market and the civil rights of Lykosian citizens as well as recent overtly aggressive actions against other CoPS and Pony Lands nations such as the G.P.H., the Dominion of the Lubyak and the Hobbiest Theocratic Republican Empire, the ASIS Act is seen by many as a worrying development. Many feel that the passing of the act is a step in the direction of stalinist policies, and many fear that the system of forced labor camps for Lykosian political prisoners is to make its return.

Similar protests have taken place in the Beastling States of Crystal Spires, and the protesters hope that international pressure will force the Lykosian government to change its policies. Online campaigns against the ASIS Act have started in the Herdite web space, and the activists state that should the outcry fall on deaf ears they will petition the government of the Greater Herd to apply diplomatic pressure to the Unitary Republic. Alpha Mare Twilight Sparkle as well as Chancellor Morning Star and the Speaker of the Ponies' Chamber Soap Box all have stated that it would be a possibility and Matriarch Sundawn has openly denounced the Lykosian government for not following Ponyist beliefs it states to subscribe to.

C’tan Senate Orders Aid to Crystal Spires

Today at the conclusion of a four hour debate, the Imperial Senate concluded that there was “no acceptable moral argument for remaining uninvolved in the New Freedomstan Crystal Spires war.” Options were discussed ranging from chairing negotiations, to supplying aid, taking refugees and offer material assistance to the Spireans. All were approved, except the matter of directing the general staff to to eliminate the Nefreedian military presence in Crystal Spires.

The session featured the shock disclosure of a conversation between Elenaran Ranisath and President Ivansen wherein the latter admitted that “Especially after... recent events, [the New Freedomstani] people need pride. They need to believe in the Nefreedian state again. We have a good casus belli the population can rally to, and I'm certain we could crush those damn fanatic libcoms [the Spireans] in a matter of months. Revenge and justice is a very nice side-dish, but not the main course.” Anders Ivansen also specifically rejected the Elenaran's suggestion to join the Abolitionist cause instead, and attack a slave-state in order to specifically attack Crystal Spires.


Elenaran Ranisath has offered a formal apology for some of the comments in the conversation, but defends his overall actions, though the details have caused a dip in his popularity, leaving him with the lowest opinion poll rating since the Telissat incident. One senator was actually recalled by the electorate during the debate, and had to be removed from the chamber by Senate Guards for suggesting that the Spireans deserved the New Freedomstani.


The motion requests, officially, the Necron General Staff and International Department to provide options for opening negotiations with both parties providing material assistance, logistical transport, and creating refugee safe zones within New Freedomstani occupied territories along with “other means to alleviate the crisis short of the deliberate engagement of New Freedomstani forces in combat” at a meeting of the Senior Directorate of Military Affairs within two days.

Beyond that, in light of the Allanean declaration of war upon the Socialist Workers Republic of New Freedomstan the Internal Security Agency has released a statement confirming that it has transferred copies of its extensive records on New Freedomstan to the United States of Allanea in accordance with Article Two of the Intelligence Pact of the Vinyatírion Economic, Intelligence and Readiness Treaties. Supreme Director Paul De Vere commented “I hope Kazansky crushes the commie bastards so hard their fore-mothers feel it beyond the grave,” to one reporter.

First Senator Frost, made a point to specify, several times, that the Spirean lands of Vinyelaujor fall within the remit of her “Frost Doctrine” and that any invasion of that territory by New Freedomstan, a human-supremacist state will result in her ordering the Necrontyr military to directly attack New Freedomstan with “maximum force, including total destruction of all military assets and decapitation strikes upon both the national leadership and each individual region involved including but not limited to elimination of the PCC senior membership in those regions.” Having already been authorized as part of the Senatorial endorsement of the Frost Doctrine, no actual vote was required on this issue.

Analysts suggest that the sheer stridency of her words were due to the infamous difficulty of effectively communicating with New Freedomstani, whose internal politics were famously characterized by one sociologist as “a terrible melange of twenty different flavours of crappiness, each more excremental than the last.”

It is known that in accordance with the Frost Doctrine plans for total elimination of the all-regions Nefreedian military presence in Vinyelaujor, the Spirean homeland, and New Freedomstan itself are also being prepared, should the Spireans in Vinyelaujor be attacked or invaded.

Action is expected within the week through the International Department, but the possibility exists that the Triarch Council will act faster than that.

The Courage to Speak Out and the Value of Our Lives
Elenaran Ranisath's speaking Openly on New Freedomstan Praised as a Courageous Act by Spirean People

CALTRIS, Crystal Spires: On the events following the Nefreedian war which Officially began on the 13th of the month of Sunrage, the genocide of Spirean Civilians sparked a lot of outrage in the international theater, and the Declaration by the C'tan on the 30th came both a surprise and a relief. The Open proclamation of information obtained in a conversation between Ranisath Cuilahîr Cuilévaher nos Fëanor, Elenaran of the Necrontyr Empire, and Anders Ivansen, the Premier of the Socialist Worker's Republic of New Freedomstan came as a shock to Spirean Civilians everywhere. The words from the Nefreedian Premier shocked and disgusted the greater Spirean population setting gears into overdrive to drive out the Nefreedian threat when the following comments were delivered:

"Especially after... recent events, people need pride. They need to believe in the Nefreedian state again. We have a good casus belli the population can rally to, and I'm certain we could crush those damn fanatic libcoms in a matter of months. Revenge and justice is a very nice side-dish, but not the main course."

Elenaran Ranisath tried to convince the Premier from his path of blood, by making the counterstatements:

"There are easier ways," Ranisath said, "you could just send some men to join a joint assault on some slavers. Slavers are useful that way, I call them the omni-enemies. You'll find that although they're not as grim and hardened as your people, the Spireans are well equipped enough to provide much harder resistance than you would imagine from looking at them," Ranisath said, "still, so be it, it's your risk to take, the rewards of victory would perhaps be considerable."

Praising our people and warning off the Nefreedians by attempting to have the Nefreedians honor our alliance was obviously the Elenaran's intentions, but clearly it was stated implicitly that we Spirean people are worse than the slavers and better targets for blood! This has angered the Spirean Populace and more Austerity measures have been taken as Luxury pay has been donated to the Spirean warfront by Patriots on a nonpartisan measure. The Necrontyr Empire of the C'tan has criticized Elenaran Ranisath and his popularity in the C'tan has taken a hard hit for his statements given, but this is drawn as a parallel from the Shrill Crisis when the much beloved Late High Chancellor and Posthumously declared Knight Templar of the Order, Maven Auryn, made false statements to shake the hold that the Celestian Dominion had over the people of Shrilland to release hostages and save lives of the armed forces of Shrilland. The parallels made between the Elenaran and the Knight Templar have led Forntian Templars of the New Idealists Movement to appeal to the C'tani to present a gift, a fine silver amulet of Courage, to the Elenaran for his willingness to sacrifice his reputation on behalf of protecting Spirean lives. The High Council have approved the nomination even though Elenaran Ranisath is not a Forntian, as was the same gift offered in the aftermath of the Shrill Crisis to her Majesty Princess Luna of the Pure Night Moon.

The Spirean Comrades on the street were consulted in a secular manner about the nomination and many different opinions have come out about the siutation. On the Grounds in Caltris, I consulted with an older Gentleman in his 120s who gave the following statement when asked about the Elenaran's Nomination:

"By Voldok's bleeding ass give the poor man a medal or something! It's unusual for foreigners to give a damn about us either way, much less be willing to take a political risk for helping us in the first place! I think they're alright folks, but it's weird that they're mad at the Elenaran. He can't really be blamed for trying to catch Nefreedian bullshit by having to bullshit back." Said Alvus Hammerslot, of the Council of Chemical Engineering stated as he was interviewed on his way to The University of Caltris.

I also interviewed another Comrade Citizen in the Great City, and found a very similar curiosity stated by Tempus Malveeri, a famous writer of the novel The Whispers of Arenshire. He made the following statements:

" It is strange that the Elenaran is taking such heavy criticism for his manner of approaching New Freedomstan's Premier. If he approached Ivansen in an aggressive manner, Ivansen wouldn't have confided anything to him and there'd be no chance to talk the rest of the Empire into action, because to some in the Empire it seems like Communist and Beastling blood is worth more to them shed than assessing moral worth of Spirean lives. It is my opinion that they would not have acted to help us or prevented this bloodshed even if we requested help, because we are Beastlings. However because of the willingness of the Elenaran to speak up, the C'tan felt less abased to help our people primarily because it became clear who the greater evil was. The fact that the Massacres are called Elven Genocides popularly to mobilize the C'tani is telling, because it reflects the common hatred of the Beastling in the Necrontyr Empire of the C'tan. As an elected official, I feel it is deeply commendable that he is making this very unpopular choice anyway. The award is warranted." He said to me as he then took his time to pick up pastries in the nearby bakery.

Upon leaving the Bakery the following statements were made by Melina Ferulde as she headed to the Grand Collegium where she instructs Mage apprentices:

"As courageous as it was, I still think Elenaran Ranisath perhaps could have spoken out sooner. Though it is possible that even then, the C'tan would not have felt the moral urgency to help us, at the least High Chancellor Maven Auryn would perhaps still be alive. Archmagi an asset to Spires and the Knight Templar of the Order itself,was sent to his death and where he was callously killed as a pretext for war and only after thousands of our people were killed did we matter enough to receive any word about this. To give the award to the Elenaran when he was indirectly responsible for Knight Templar Auryn's death seems deeply inappropriate from my view." She said as she then entered to teach her mage apprentices.

A poll was conducted on the Tribune Website and revealed that 67% of Spireans feel that the Elenaran deserves the Medal of Courage, 25% were neutral to the nomination, and 8% believed that he did not deserve the nomination. The High Council ruling was ultimately in favor of the nomination with a higher percentage than our polls reflected. The hard choice is one that is not easy to make, and the Spirean people seem to agree that the Necrontyr's help is a blessing and a godsend in this circumstance. Regardless of whether it was believed that the nomination was appropriate or not and whether Spireans believed the award should or should not have been granted, the view of the Elenaran in the past few years have undoubtedly risen in approval even if his comrades in the C'tan did not support his actions. As the Brotherhood has offered Ranisath the honors, we Spirean watch and wait as the Idealists still press the Nefreedians south, locking them in the Coastlines.

At an announcement today in the provincial capital of the Lubyakan administered portions of Altea, the local governor released information on the progress of the reconstruction of Altean infrastructure in the wake of the conflict that led to the trial of Archon Syrian Martel. During this conflict, Altean infrastructure was heavily damaged by military action against its infrastructure by states coming to the aid of the Beastling States of Crystal Spires.

Since the creation of Lubyakan administered Altea, Lubyakan Army Engineer led crews have been working ceaselessly in their attempts to rebuild Altean infrastructure, seeking to not only recover lost capability, but to improve upon existing networks, increasing both the security of the new transportation network from potential attack by hostile wildlife, as well as the capacity and reliability of the infrastructure network. Lubyakan administrators have expressed their hopes that the newfound security of roads, as well as the increased carrying capacity and reliability of the roads will ensure that trade and economic development spread within Altean borders, providing greater prosperity for the local populace. At present, it is estimated that major roads, connecting major cities and coastal facilities are approximately 52% complete, with work continuing at an active pace.

In addition to Lubyakan Army Engineers, local civilians have been provided jobs and opportunities for employment via these infrastructure projects, as well as other necessary projects, such as the rebuilding of port facilities along the Altean coastline, and the upgrading of Altean power and air transportation infrastructure. The mass investment of Dominion funds into the Lubyakan Administered Regions of Altea (LARA), has been having noticeable effects on civilian morale, with polls indicating that 65% of locals have begun to feel hopeful for what the future may hold. This improved attitude amongst locals has been held accountable for increased levels of consumption amongst Alteans, which has served as a magnet for both local entrepreneurs, and larger offshore corporations.

In the announcement today, LARA Governor Thomas Havenson has issued a promise to the people of LARA to, “...transform the region into a shining beacon of Mystria. A show of the prosperity that can be brought by the development and friendship offered by the Dominion of the Lubyak.”


The Governor also unveiled plans to begin the reconstruction of the Altean Armed Forces, using locally produced equipment. It is hoped that these troops will be capable of fulfilling the duties of garrisoning the newly created fortified roadways, providing security by Alteans and for Alteans. In addition, the Governor has hinted that future political developments await LARA in the near future, with speculation believing that the Governor will be arranging a quorum in order to determine whether or not LARA should pursue a path to becoming a full Dominion Protectorate.

Straw polls indicate that there is large support for this to happen in both Muffinvania and Underhall.

CALTRIS, Crystal Spires: On the Eave of retaking our beloved lands to the south in Rulkdjetaasha, Irianul, and recovering the people who suffered from the volcanic disaster in Tabril, the High Council has been given a boost to funding in the Armed Forces and Ministerial Deputy in the Military Council has approved and researched the practical use of the Model 98 Tactical Rock for the retaking of the Southerlands and has been forced to make more cutbacks in the Arts and Cultural Studies. The High Chancellor has declared that effective Immediately the Spirean Order of Idealists, the Order of Uncorruptibles, and the Spirean Rangers shall be instructed in the use of the Tactical Rock, and the general consensus in the council has been positive in their review. While the Tactical Rock has been cited as Milogradian Weapons Technology, the High Council has indeed made the step forward to open positive trade relations with Milograd.

Well, there were two 3-1 games played in the World Cup Qualifiers here in the Equestrian States. One of them I was able to attend in person, the other ... well ... I was running for my life, so soccer wasn't exactly my first priority.

First things first: The opening match between the Equestrian States and Waspeaters was fairly boring actually. Considering that a lot of games these days have crazy and thrilling endings, it was anticlimactic; I fully expected Fire Dash would score three goals in stoppage time, but alas, he did not. Regardless, it was a fine day for the team, and the new starters in particular.

The match began with the roaring Equestrian crowd greeting the unranked Waspeater team into the Equestria Dome. It was quite difficult to think, and I think I might have to ask them to not have that supersonic Pegasai fly over the stadium again. Anyways, things went as expected, with Fire Dash scoring off a corner kick in the 13th minute. An easy one goal lead for the Equestrians, and a good start to the Qualifiers.

Ten minutes later, Thunderlane, making his WCQ debut, made it 2-0 by breaking away from the herd and smacking one by the surprised goalkeeper whose face was oddly obscured by a mist of some sort and prevented us from identifying him.

But then in the 34th minute, a Waspeater, whose face was also oddly draped in a dark grey cloud, somehow scored on a lucky shot that just got by High Soarin' and made it a one-goal game again.

The halftime show was a strange, but short performance by a local Punk-Rock-Pop-Something group known as The Red Hot Chili Cakes (not really a fan of theirs, but Dani Equestria is a nice song).

The second half was what made this game boring for me. The only action came when Rapid Dash headed one in during the first minute of the half. Aside from that, most of the team spent a lot of time trying to figure out who each player on the Waspeaters team was by staring hard at them and following them around. I don't think a single shot on goal was taken in the last few minutes or not because I fell asleep after Flitter started hovering in front of one of the opposing Forwards.

After the match, I returned to my apartment in Everfree. Unfortunately, it was at this time that the exciting things happened. One of several state prisons for Changelings is located a block away from me, and it experienced a (slight) breach in security while I was napping, wondering what my own cutie mark would be if I was a pony. But before I could figure out, I found myself in a room filled with Changelings. For those lunatics in PETETE (Ponies for the Ethical Treatment of Everything That Exists), it would have been a dream come true, for me it was a nightmare.

So, while I was fleeing from a horde of demonic ponies from Tartarus, the Equestrian States lost to Antoletia because all their fans from Everfree were too busy panicking to attend the game.

Hopefully that won't happen again. If it does, I'm getting myself banished to the Moon.

"Welcome to YNN, where we have a very special story from the Equestria Cup. The Yorobian team has clinched a playoff spot after their 3-1 win against Tryienne. Rainbow Hoof scored early in the match with a well placed shot inside the box at the 9 minute mark, but Tryienne came back almost immediately 5 minutes later with a beautiful cross and a header that bounced its way passed Jumping Jack, who was being given a chance to play in the cup. A very well played match continued with no goals, but soon after half-time Lightning Flash dribbled past 2 of the defenders before laying it off to Supersonic who blasted it into the net. Tryienne tried hard to come back into the match, but Jumping Jack impressed with many saves. In the 77th minute, one of the Tryienne players managed to curve one around Metal Grip, but it reflected back onto the field after hitting the post. Again, in the 80' minute, Tryienne found another opening, and the Tryienne midfielder punished the poor defense by shooting low and hard, but Jumping Jack pulled off another miraculous save with his knee. Then, 3 minutes in overtime, Kazuma Koyoka finished off the other team with an unstoppable shot in the bottom left corner. This win showed great effort from both sides, and Yorobia came out as the victor."

Hello again my fellow stalkers, this weeks article is not only juicy it's useful as well! I spoke to High Chancellor Maven Auryn of the Beastling States of Crystal Spires. He shared a very personal tale of his battle with addiction and beauty.

Sneaky Snitch: High Chancellor Maven welcome, thank you so much for taking the time to allow me to do this interview.

Maven Auryn: The honor is mine, ‘tis a pleasure to be speaking with a member of the Muffinvanian press. I do hope I can be of service to you as is my duty as High Chancellor.

SS: Uh huh, well now the citizens of Muffinvania would like to know exactly what species you are.

Maven Auryn: I am a Storkii, a demihumanoid sapient bird creature. While I look somewhat like humans do we are fundamentally different species.

SS: So you like...sleep in a nest then and lay eggs?

Maven Auryn: I was born from an egg, and I’m a male, I do not lay eggs.

SS: *squints* wait...you’re male?

Maven Auryn: *twitches* Yes...why?

SS: well your hair is very...silky and fluffy, and your eyelashes are very long, I’m also pretty sure you are wearing concealer.

Maven: Concealer? What is that?

SS: oh well it’s a type of makeup used to cover blemishes and scars or dark circles under your eyes.

Maven: Oh, well no. I certainly don’t use much makeup. I do wear sunscreen, it is good to prevent skin cancer.

SS: but your skin looks so smooth do you use anything else?

Maven: Well, hum... I do use lemons on occasion.

SS: really lemons interesting, and what do you use on your feathers? They look so soft our pegasi readers would be very interested.

Maven: Oh, well I use a bit of dust thrown over them and I also preen and powder them often. Good hygiene is critical to a long and healthy life.

SS: Oh very good. Moving on, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being extremely and 10 being not at all, how much would you say you rely on prescription painkillers to get through the day?

Maven: The painkillers... yes... I would say five, maybe four on a particularly harsh season. Sometimes when it is rainy, three.

SS: Okay, and how often do you drink when you’re alone?

Maven: Oh, I have low tolerance, but I do enjoy a small drink or two when there’s a good day with good company.

SS: yes I see, so on especially hard days you would need both correct?

Maven *Sighs* There’s been more of those lately, it seems. I do try to keep it simple. The pain medicine used to ease the trouble of long and lasting wounds, and the alcohol is merely to help me sleep.

SS: That sounds awful, and the council is aware of your condition and is helping you?

Maven: I have the same healthcare provided to all Comrade Citizens, but I suppose most comrade citizens are not often subject to the pains I have been dealt, but I have lived longer than my predecessors. This is better than most.

SS: So healthcare in Crystal Spires involves harsh and addictive narcotics to deal with chronic pain?

Maven: This depends on the nature of the injury and pain. I’m not a doctor, but I am aware that the medicine is addictive, they have labels upon it as demanded by the High Council... let me see... hmmm. *pulls out a bottle of pills* Viola, as you can see, it is carefully labelled.

SS: So you have never gone beyond the recommended dosage?

Maven: There was a time in winter when I did, the pain that I was feeling was so great that I had not slept for about 2 nights. I was going through a particularly trying work week as well and I did speak to my doctor as well, and he said it would be feasible.

SS: So, you have chronic pain and insomnia and are the head of the government of one of the most influential nations within CoPS?

Maven: (Humbly) Well I wouldn’t consider myself any more than a mere civil servant to my people. I do indeed suffer from wounds and sickness that I have endured. I’m still in remission from Cancer, and am glad that this has in no way slowed me down.

SS: So all medical advice has been to not slow down and keep going at this pace?

Maven: Ah, yes... My girlfriend Ellesime has said that I am overworked, a workaholic, and my doctor has agreed with this assessment. I am, however, very capable of maintaining my health and doing my job.

SS: I see so you are ignoring not only a medical professional but loved ones concerned over your health.

Maven: Sometimes, yes. I do what my conscience demands is best for the good and welfare of all beings. Sometimes this requires sacrifice, nerve, and dedication far beyond the will of most men and women.

SS: Wouldn’t the best thing for the welfare of all beings is to rest and perhaps allow your body to heal so you are able to do your job more effectively?

Maven: Well, it depends on the circumstance. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

SS: Say there was a crisis and you hadn’t slept for a few days and had relied heavily on your pain medication and finally to help yourself fall asleep you drink a glass or two of wine...you may end up overdosing.

Maven: And then I would be dead, and the Chancellor will take over for me, as is their duty. Though dying on the job isn’t rare for this occupation.

SS: Oh, and your family would have to live with that, has your girlfriend adopted your children by the way? It would be a shame if they were taken by the government in such a case because they had no guardian.

Maven: That she has, and I have faith that my family will endure as they always have.

SS: well High Chancellor Maven, I have to thank you again for sharing your harrowing tale of addiction and your secret beauty tips with us.

Maven: W-Wh-? Your welcome... I suppose?

Following the shocking decision by a multitude of nations across the Pony Lands to eradicate the nation, devastate the land and annihilate the peoples of Hippostania, the reactions have been diverse. Here there is support, there there is disgust, and so on and so forth. The Kouralian reaction has been mixed thus far: communist supporters and some who support civil and political rights and liberties have joyously celebrated the demise of a nation with such a horrendous track record in that area. Right Wingers have, on the other hand, spoken out over the decision of the Kouralian government to adopt a position of supporting the Spirean choice, despite the government itself being Right-Wing - they feel it is necessary to not recognise any government of the involved powers, and perform economic sanctions, minimum.

In a statement today, the Inner Council proclaimed that: 'Whilst it is believed that there were other methods to reach a more preferable solution - both less destructive to the environment and resulting in less senseless waste of human life, we understand the need of the region to stabilise such a nation. The Crown of Kouralia stands by the decision of its ally, the Beastling States of Crystal Spires, despite the solution being one which is not preferred. The Militaristic Union believes that it is jointly the responsibility of all parties involved, with most of the blame resting upon the shoulders of the now-illegal Hippostanian Government. Members of such government are hereby to be arrested by Kouralian forces and detained at HMP Brastia.'

Despite this official position, it quickly became clear that the population was divided on the matter, with extreme Left Wing and Right Wing Supporters taking to the streets in Kurton and many other major population centres. The Communist party held large celebrations in the capital, joyously calling the day a 'triumph over the Imperialist Capitalist Pig-Dogs who ally with slavers'. These rallies were opposed by members of less hard-line parties and lasted for all of the day: by 8 o'clock nigh-on every Left Wing supporter was inebriated or high. Whilst this in itself was not a situation most to be worried over: they were peaceable, except for a drunken brawl after a constable attempted to arrest a member of the Red Guard for verbal abuse of a Law Enforcement Agent. The main concerns occurred after members of the National Socialist and Kouralian Nationalist Party organised a mobile protest. Beginning symbolically when crowds formed over the course of 10-20 minutes at Justice Plaza, many headed around the city and by 8 o'clock the city had been declared to be in a state of emergency. The first deaths attributed to the three-way conflict between the Left Wing, Right Wing and Government Forces were those of John Selmy, Sebastian Grimes and Constable Samuel Stern of the Metropolitan Police. This instance occurred when two coaches of unknown contents stopped at the South Bridge to the Government Quarter, disgorging around 70 Right Wing rioters who proceeded to advance towards the Quarter. Constable Stern remained on the exterior of the gate to buy time for his fellow officers to shut it, ordering the crowds to disperse and citing the Riot and Treason Act of 1919 before discharging his weapon twice into the air as a warning. At this the enraged crowd surged forwards, seemingly believing he had shot someone: Constable Stern responded by firing upon two rioters at a range of 10 meters before being dragged down and stabbed and beaten to death.

The situation had largely been quietened by the morning, with the Metropolitan, Ministry of Defence and Military police working with the Royal Guard and other units to restore order. Whilst fighting has not yet halted everywhere within the country or even the capital, and the death count is by no means complete for what has happened thus far, it is believed that 20 Rioters, 2 Royal Guardsmen, 5 Foreign Citizens, 13 Police Officers, and 20 Civilians have been killed within the Capital. The property damage is in the millions across the nation, and this figure is expected to rise as the situation in Chieti intensifies.

Eight Republics: Leonidas Did Not Surrender To Persians, Had Worse Luck With Ponies

The military campaign against the slaver state of the Eight Republics has recently came to an end after a decisive attack of Herdite forces against the Republican capital, Lodendorp-Middelbronswijk. After weeks of bloody fighting claiming thousands on both sides the Republican government was forced to sign an article of surrender and to invoke a series of social reforms, including of course, abolition of the practice of slavery.

Celebrations broke out all over the Herd as it has won its first victory over a slaver state. Heroes of the campaign were welcomed warmly back in the Herd and many, including Colonel Shell Shock who led the initial landing and occupation of Ollnborg, Bremen and Friesland, were awarded honors by the Alpha Mare herself. A massive service was held in the Harmony Cathedral in Flankfurt where several dozen thousand Harmonists have gathered together to pray for the souls of those who have fallen in the war and to thank the Regal Sisters for their guidance in the sacred war against the world slavery.

The government has stated that it will direct funds, offer loans and humanitarian aid to easen the burden of war relief on the liberated Eight Republics, where the first free elections after the war are currently taking place and a sapient equine candidate is currently leading the polls, and to help the former slaves. The surviving captured slavers were offered pardons provided they forswear slavery forever, but Leonidas, the leader of the wartime Eight Republics directly responsible for deaths of hundreds of slaves, has met a worse fate. Captured during the attack on Lodendorp-Middelbronswijk, Leonidas was held in Herdite custody before being handed over to Her Divine Majesty Princess Luna. Now the slaver leader is spending his eternity as a decoration in Her Divine Majesty's gardens, fully conscious and aware of himself but trapped inside a motionless body of stone, not unlike Discord, until the stars stop burning or he repents, though the latter is unlikely to come first.

A surge in political activity marks several last weeks in the Herd as the Alpha Mare Twilight Sparkle has recently announced her intent to prematurely dissolve the Ponies' Chamber, what was previously scheduled to happen on December 2012-January 2013. The unstable and treacherous political state of international relations as marked by the complete collapse of the Coalition of Ponyist States and subsequent emergence of several 'successor alliances', some of which harbor evident enmity towards the Herd and other leading political powers of the region and the need for the Herd's political structure to adapt to these alarming changes were cited by Her Excellency as one of the reasons to her decision.

The dissolution of the Chamber and subsequent elections are scheduled to be put into motion on 1st of August. Voter turnout is expected to be significantly higher than during the last elections in 2008, and the Democratic Harmonist Party is leading the polls and is expected to retain its status quo of a plurality party with 165 seats or more. The Agrarian Party is holding strong as well with its traditionally loyal voter base, but the moderates of the Green Party are predicted to lose a solid number of their seats. Turbulent times make the people turn to those who promise extreme solutions, and the theocratic Orthodox Harmonists are expected to enjoy an increase in seats while the National Front, who have taken up isolationist rhetorics in their campaign and have promised to protect the people of the Herd from the "communist, slaver and other foreign menaces", is going to win more than a double of their present seats in the upcoming elections according to current polls.

Sharp Poniard, a 32 years old stallion has been arrested for openly 'provoking a rebellion against the government' by orating and distributing leaflets in front of the public in Snowpoint City, near the Presidential Palace, according to the National Police.

The orator, who seemed to voice his opinions alone, has been charged with inciting, provocative, or offensive speech and subversive action under the Anti Subversion and Internal Security Act, Article 5 and 6. National Police spokesmare Inspector General Iridescence said he may face up to 15 years of imprisonment.

The suspect was arrested by Mobile Brigade Unit personnel during his oration in Harmony Square on Sunday at 2:30 am. He claims himself as a democracy activist affiliated to National Democratic Movement, despite of the fact that he was caught alone. The officers were still interrogating him as of Monday afternoon and the said organization was going to be checked for further investigation. Reportedly the police also searched his home in the outskirts of the city.

Witnesses reported that the orator had been orating and giving anti-government leaflets for three days and occasionally attract passersby, although it was never too much. He called the public to topple down the current government under the leadership of President Regal Charmer and reform the system to be more democratic and free.

Creamy Ice (23) is a nearby shopkeeper who was at the scene during the event. "That pony had been under that tree for about three days or so," she said, pointing to a deciduous tree. Hello fellow stalkers today is serious business I got right down to it in my interview with the Lykosian president Regal Charmer, let me tell you that interview got heated and if I disappear in the middle of the night you know who gave the orders!

Regal Charmer: So when the interview started?

SneakySnitch: Why right now President Regal Charmer, thank you for taking the time to do this interview.

Regal Charmer: Your welcome, Miss Snitch.

SS: Alright lets get right down to the nitty gritty, Mr. Charmer why are you purposely trying to murder your own people?

Regal Charmer: Murder? What murder? We do not take such thing so lightly here, you know. The minimal you can get by killing any being is...20 years.

SS: So you deny arresting a peaceful protester who hasn't been seen of heard of since?

Regal Charmer: Aah....that one? The last I checked they are still interrogating him. The maximum charge for him is 15 years, maybe lower, if you have heard. It's not like we throw ponies like him into gulags..

SS: Yes but why was he arrested at all? littering?

Regal Charmer: Because....he was provoking the public to overthrow the current, legitimate government, that's for sure.

SS: So no one can protest against the current government? That sounds like a dictatorship Mr. Charmer.

Regal Charmer: Um, well...they can of course! But you see what he did is what we call 'subversive'

SS: Then why was that pony arrested? he wasn't trying to start a riot he wanted you impeached didn't he?

Regal Charmer: Uhm...er, I think you have to ask that to the National Police...arresting him is not my idea...hehe.

SS: Who is the head of the national police?

Regal Charmer: It's General Steadfast.

SS: Oh and who does the General receive his orders from?

Regal Charmer: Minister of Defense and Security, Fleet Admiral Stardancer!

SS: Who was appointed by?

Regal Charmer: ...me.

SS: I see.

Regal Charmer: H-hey! It's not like I ordered them to arrest every protesters!

SS: So you are saying that you DID order the arrest of this protester is it because he hurt your feelings?

Regal Charmer NO!

SS: Mr. Charmer isn't it true that you are more sensitive than you would usually find other ponies to be in public office?

Regal Charmer: Hmm...I think so. My friends also told me that. Actually I'm a sensitive pony.

SS: Yes I believe you locked yourself in your office during the alleged "baby eater" incident?

Regal Charmer: HOW DID YOU- I mean, of course not! I'm not like that!

SS: So you weren't...*reads from notes* hiding under your desk cuddling a stuffed Princess Luna doll and whimpering?

Regal Charmer: Well.....m-maybe....y-yes?

SS: So, when was it that this pony said that you shouldn't be President anymore?

Regal Charmer: Since, about....four days ago.

SS: You didn't get upset at all...or perhaps asked for some rash action?

Regal Charmer: It's the National Police's decision. I can't control them all the time. Honestly I did get upset, but I can't just abuse my power.

SS: Oh so now we have a private army in Lykosia that you can't control. Now it sounds like you are under the will of a military junta.

Regal Charmer: Miss Snitch, as a president I have a total control over the military. Do you know that my other title is 'Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces'? I can control them anytime, but I also have to trust some ponies to lead the police and armed forces. There's hierarchy of command.

SS: who drafted and signed the ASIS act?

Regal Charmer: Me. Uh, wait...

SS: Thank you Mr. Charmer, I think this interview has been very enlightening.

NEW CANTERLOT – Demonstrators gathered outside several key government buildings yesterday, demanding an end government inaction and isolationist policy. Signs reading “Where's The Leadership?” and “No More Lazy Leaders!” were displayed prominently, and complaints were hurled at government officials as they walked past. Several key demonstrators cited an almost complete lack of any kind of international participation in the past year as a sign that the government has lost touch with the world around it. “What kind of a country are we living in where the whole world can burn around it and it does nothing? The silence has really been deafening,” one anonymous protester claimed.

When pressed for comment, spokespeople for the Enataian government and the Royal Alexandrian House both defended the Kings' positions, claiming that their first priority was the Enataian people, and that it would still stand by its key allies. “Currently the government's top priority is fixing the problem of the rampant social inequality that's been growing in Enatai itself, not international political or military maneuvering. However, our allegiances to our key allies will remain, and should they ask for our help, we will do our best to provide what support we can afford,” a spokesperson for the kings said. “We are doing our best to remain strong but diplomatic.” The comments were not well-received by the demonstrators, some of whom called it “merely an excuse for more inactivity.”

Police are present as of this morning, but “only to ensure that the protest remains peaceful,” and have told reporters that they have specific orders to let the protests continue as long as things remain legal. So far nobody has been hurt and no roads have been blocked, but the number of protesters has grown substantially overnight, with no signs of slowing down.

<RC> Good evening, nice to meet you Anwatercánis. It’s okay, everyone also call me Regal usually.

<AnF> As you know there’s a few things I’d like to cover tonight, the first is of course the issue of Sharp Poniard, I understand he was arrested for... *she checks her notes* …’subversive activity’? Under the ASIS act? Could you perhaps elaborate on what precisely that means, and what he was doing?

<RC> He was provoking the public to turn against the current Lykosian government and change the system, including dissolving the parliament and replace it with a new one because he thought the current is...incompetent.

<AnF> I see. Was Mr. Poniard advocating violence at all, or merely a change in the political system?

<RC> Mainly he just wanted to end the current ‘tyranny’, so to speak.

<AnF> With all due respect, Regal, that doesn’t exactly answer the question. Was Mr. Poniard advocating violence?

<RC> To be honest....no. But it doesn’t need a call of violence when an actual revolt occurred.

<AnF> The common joke about the ASIS Act in Menelmacar is that it’s intended to keep the Lykosian government ‘as is’. Would you characterize that as accurate? And would you explain what constitutes a revolt in this case given no violence occurred?

<RC> Well, ASIS is intended to maintain stability in our motherland and to protect ourselves from internal threats, such as rebels, terrorists, separatists, and the others. I can’t say that joke is accurate, but I can tell you that the Act was made to maintain the sustainability of the state.

<AnF> And as to my other question?

<RC> Um....as I said, they have an intention to topple down the current, legitimate government.

<AnF> By your own admission Mr. Poniard was not calling for violent revolt but a peaceful transition to a more democratic system. Are you saying had this pony arrested and sent to prison for up to fifteen years for peaceful political discourse?

<RC> Fifteen years is the maximum charge for such felony. In his case they’ll probably give him two to five years of imprisonment.

<AnF> I see, then, so the answer is yes. Moving on... many of my viewers in Menelmacar are likely not especially familiar with Lykosian politics; could you perhaps outline for their benefit from what source the current Lykosian government derives its legitimacy?

<RC> Hmm, Lykosia follows semi-direct democracy system. We consider it as important to represent the public’s voice and aspirations through the Ponies’ Consultative Assembly, including for elections. However we also have referendums for highly-crucial issues, which actually rarely held.

<AnF> Are you elected, then?

<RC> By the representatives from the PCA, yes.

<AnF> I see. If this is the case, which idea or ideas of Mr. Poniard’s were so dangerous as to necessitate his arrest and imprisonment?

<RC> U-uhm...the idea of overthrowing the current government alone is already dangerous, especially for national stability.

<AnF> I see... let me see if I have this straight... you have a democracy, of sorts, which implies that leadership and administration can change from one term to the next, but advocating for exactly such a change can land one in prison?

<RC> If such change is done through a democracy process, it is not a problem. But otherwise it’s a coup.

<AnF> As I understand it, your Consultative Assembly is elected directly by the people, and has the power both to impeach the president and amend the constitution. Is it illegal to petition one’s representative on matters of policy, and to encourage others to do likewise?

<RC> Er, actually no. However only the respective party has the power to withdraw their representative. I think if there’s also pressure from the people they’ll resign.

<AnF> I see. So, Regal, what you’re telling me is that Mr. Poniard was arrested before he could create enough public political pressure to force you or your supporters to resign in favor of alternative candidates who would advocate a more direct form of democracy?

<RC> Listen, the leaflets he gave away said to literally kick me out from the office. Do you think it is going to be peaceful?

<AnF> You’ve already said multiple times he didn’t call for violence, and it is a nearly universal euphemism in democratic nations that to ‘kick someone out of power’ is to defeat them in an election. How long is left in your current term?

<RC> H-he didn’t explicitly call for violence, but it would be violent inevitably. Currently I have three, no, four years left.

<AnF> And you said he might get two to five years.... interesting, interesting. Surely coincidental. You say he didn’t explicitly call for violence but violence would be inevitable? Does the Lykosian justice system presume guilt, or innocence? And are elections in Lykosia frequently marked by widespread violence?

<RC> We have presumption of innocence, but the evidences are enough to make him arrested. And no, violence in election times is rare.

<AnF> If violence in elections is rare, how can you claim that Mr. Poniard’s orations would inevitably lead to violence? Surely Lykosians are a civilized people who are not in the habit of rioting and whatnot, and can conduct a civil political discourse?

<RC> There are chances that if his words widespread it’ll ignite an unrest. Sure, the chance is small, but we have to anticipate it. What if the separatists in Krazelya hear it, if they exist? We will not an instability to occur in the mainland or in our overseas territories.

<AnF> Regal, ‘inevitably’ means a one hundred percent chance, an absolute certainty, not a ‘small’ chance... and Mr. Poniard was calling for more democracy, not independence for Krazelya.

<RC> I...I d-did not say that his oration will ignite the violence, but I said that a revolt will surely ignite violence.

<AnF> Actually, you did say that. *She sets a small holoprojector on the table, and replays footage from mere minutes before; a tiny Regal Charmer saying, “H-he didn’t explicitly call for violence, but it would be violent inevitably.”* ...Mr. President, is the chance small, or great, that Mr. Poniard’s views will spark violence? It obviously cannot be both.

<RC> What I was saying is, that any attempt to overthrow the government will be violent.

<AnF> Is the chance small, or great, that Mr. Poniard’s views will spark a violent overthrow of your government?

<RC> I like to think it’s small, but our authority only cares about what law he has violated.

<AnF> Would I be correct in stating that the ASIS Act under which Mr. Poniard is being prosecuted was spearheaded, drafted, and signed by yourself?

<RC> More or less. I drafted it, the Ponies’ Council legislated it, and I signed it.

<AnF> So if you believed that the ASIS Act as passed was too authoritative or that it overreached, or that it infringed too much on the free speech rights of the people, you could have refused to sign it until appropriate changes were made, yes?

<RC> I think so. But I drafted it, and therefore I know what I’m doing.....well, the ponies can submit a judicial review to the Constitutional Court if they think it is not good enough, and I respect that.

<AnF> Thank you, that answers my question nicely. Regal, would you characterize your government as one of openness and transparency?

<RC> We heavily supports a transparent government as one of many ways to fight corruption. So I can say, yes. We are very transparent and open.

<AnF> Excellent! So you wouldn’t mind at all if I interview Mr. Poniard and General Steadfast, then.

<RC> ...yes. No problem at all...

<AnF> Wonderful, that’s very heartening to hear. Moving on to another subject, much of Tareldanorë and the Pony Lands are abuzz with persistent rumors that you, ah, eat babies. Could you perhaps set the record straight as to how this story got started?

<RC> …............

<AnF> Take your time. Or I can just put ‘no comment’ here, I suppose.

<RC> I think it’s due to my assertiveness in international politics, but somehow I...doubt it. I....I don’t want to t-talk about that....

<AnF> So.... you eat babies... because you’re assertive?

<RC> I DO NOT. EAT. BABIES! UNDERSTOOD?!

<RC> Maybe they think I’m that wicked or evil, which I’m not.

<AnF> I see. Can you perhaps comment on the alleged misconduct of your forces in the internment of Cardinal Winry of the Hobbiest Republic?

<RC> I’ve heard about that. All I can say for now is that an investigation will be held and the perpetrator will be punished accordingly.

HOVGAARD, Skallen -- The sound of breaking glass and yelling tumbled down the streets in Hovgaard today, a frightening event not seen since the days of the revolution that toppled the government of old. Rioters gathered in the main city park, Kommunale Park af Revolutionen at around noon under the auspices of a student trip from the nearby technical college, but things quickly spiraled out of control when a patrolman from the local IUNS office inquired about the legitimacy of the meeting. The perpetrators quickly became violent, assaulting the officer in an attempt to preserve their surprise. The officer managed to radio the situation to other units, and almost immediately IUNS Riot Officers were mobilized.

The deranged malcontents started to rampage down the main street and toward the regional Sub-Committee house, smashing and breaking along the way in what was described by one IUNS Officer as "...an unmatched spree of violent anti-revolutionism, wholly unacceptable and threatening to all that we have worked for...". Riot vehicles and fully kitted officers marched to intercept the crowd a few blocks from the Sub-Committee house, forming up near a PRG recruiting office and a bakery. Citizens nearby fled as the mob neared the blockade and violence was imminent, with many innocents injured in the flight from the hostile mob.

When the mob came within 100 feet of the IUNS blockade, they began to jeer and throw any sort of item they could get their hands on, rocks, alcohol, even a few shoes. A few even took to crafting makeshift incendiary weapons, the famed 'Molotov Cocktail' to hurl at the government units. None were injured to a significant degree however, as only a few were thrown before lethal force was authorized to be utilized on the the violent and non-compliant crowd, as warning shots were fired before any fatal shots were made. The crowd quickly began to disperse when they realized they were being fired upon, and IUNS officers quickly began the task of rounding up runners and treating and arresting the wounded. At the end of the violent outbreak, 2 civilians were found dead, with 13 receiving injuries that warranted treatment while the protesters were found to have upwards of 30 casualties, 41 wounded, and 16 arrests.

Surely a shocking day for all of us in Skallen, as there are apparently new revelations regarding the reasoning behind the outburst. The IUNS reports that it uncovered secret documents from one of the protesters, along with a number of confessions from others arrested, that the secretive and extremely dangerous Samfundet for Genoprettelsen af ​​Monarkiet (Society for the Restoration of the Monarchy) were involved in planning and carrying out the riots which were from confessions, originally planned to be much more threatening. The original plan involved the planting of explosives, and the holding of hostages in order to have the demands of the SGM met. Supreme Chairpony Red Wave had a brief statement to make on the matter. "I find the crimes these people and ponies carried out to be heinous, and the idea behind it even more sinister and dastardly. This is only more proof as to why we were right to overthrow the corrupt king of old, he and his lackeys will resort to any means to regain their precious seat of power with which to lord over the common folk of the nation." The protesters await their trials at the hands of the IUNS.
