ICE Facility Attack: Yukties Finally Snapped?

OURED, D.A. — The president of the United Republic of Emmeria issued a statement earlier today which indicated that the United Republic Joint Intelligence Agency has found "conclusive evidence" regarding Yuktobanian support for last month's terrorist attack on the Virkala Facility.

"Conclusive evidence after an extensive investigation into the attacks has confirmed Yuktobanian involvement," Presidential Palace spokeswoman Sophia Spencer told reporters during a press release. "There will be justice for the people involved. Our hearts go out to the families, friends, and loved ones of those affected by the attacks."

The attacks came a month after the declaration of the Castilla Doctrine, a controversial interventionist foreign policy issued by President Luis Castilla which stated that the U.R. "will actively combat oppressive regimes around the world", terming "radical stratocracies" as one of its targets. The Castilla Doctrine gained widespread domestic and international support and criticism, drastically increasing tensions with the Republic of Segland, Orson Empire and Legion of Kane, Greater Republic of Krintzaika, and even one of the U.R.'s neighbors, the Hegemonic Union. It also placed significant pressure on the Union of Yuktobanian Republics, a former Emmerian territory that just fifteen years ago was being torn apart on the brink of a civil war.

Yuktobanian Premier Miroslav Yevseyev denied these claims, telling reporters earlier today, "[Emmerians] need to stop looking at the world through tinted glasses", labeling the accusations "preposterous and subjective" and an "embarrassing violation of sovereignty of Yuktobania".

Tensions between Yuktobania and the United Republic have intensified ever since the issuance of the Castilla Doctrine, and are widely believed to be at their highest point since the United Republic-Yuktobania Cold War.

The attacks occurred on the Virkala Facility, a joint ICE military observation post in the Emmerian town of Virkala, on 5 September 2012. The facility, which at the time was operating on a reduced security schedule, was attacked by a large group of armed, masked gunmen using automatic weapons—which are illegal without an extensive, expensive background check in accordance with Emmerian firearm restrictions. The attack killed twenty-nine people and injured forty-two more, mostly foreign nationals of ICE member nations. It ended after a forty-eight-hour standoff between the attackers, who were holding hostages, and the base's remaining security forces in conjunction with Emmerian police and SWAT teams, National Guard, and special forces. It was the first time since the War of 1820 that active U.R. military forces were used on the Emmerian mainland.

The attack was the first of its kind on Emmerian soil since the Chaleur terrorist bombings of July 1, 2000 in the financial and economic center of the nation, Chaleur, which prompted U.R. involvement in the Acaema Civil War, a conflict which ended just two years ago. The terrorist bombings in Chaleur were the first foreign attacks on mainland Emmeria since the War of 1820.

The international terrorist organization HZI claimed responsibility for the attack; it is rumored the Natsionalʹnaya Sluzhba Razvedki (NSR; Russian for National Intelligence Service), the Yuktobanian military intelligence organization, has covertly supported the HZI, although these claims have garnered relatively little support on the international stage.

The attacks came five months after a U.R. consulate in Koslograd, Yuktobania was raided by radical Yuktobanian militants, killing two U.R. nationals. It was the first of two fatal terrorist attacks on Emmerian diplomats this year alone, with the second occurring during an observer mission in Trotskytopia where the Emmerian envoys were ambushed by Yandian rebels and U.R. Navy fighter jets were deployed to perform an airstrike on the attackers.

It is currently unclear whether or not further diplomatic or military action will be performed by the United Republic. An anonymous inside source told WZNN that it was unlikely in the case that ICE responds to the attacks for the United Republic to get involved.

ATLANTICA — An anonymous Department of Defense source indicated that Chaos insurgents in the Imperial colony of Origa on Verktha may prompt U.R. intervention.

The insurgents, who overtook the autonomous district during its recovery following the thermonuclear war with the New Lowlands, have rendered the recognized government essentially null, declaring a form of martial law fighting for their respective religious deities.

Reports from the region indicate the insurgents violate international conventions on the treatment of prisoners and the dead. Graphic images depicting the shredding, rape, and mutilation of dead human bodies have been leaked across the web as world leaders are contemplating military intervention.

"The blatant abuses of human rights will be stopped. Peace will once again touch the shores of Origa," the anonymous source told WZNN this past Wednesday.

According to multiple sources, the Majestic Fascist Empire of Old Beringia may become involved as well in light of its unilateral Declaration of Intent Regarding Terrorism. An Old Beringian intervention would serve as a strategic deterrent to the United Republic, which is currently in a state of war against the slaver-empire.

It is currently unclear as to the extent of potential U.R. involvement. The United Republic has yet to make an official statement regarding the matter.

^{The first Central Defence Initiative Summit held in Laesico}

LAESICO, Belfras. Swift negotiations have led to the formation of a new military organisation as of the 15th of October 2012, with its official name the Central Defence Initiative or its more reliable abbreviation, the CDI. After weeks of debate the three participating sovereign nations and their representing delegations have ratified the Laesico Treaty, forming the charter of the alliance.

All had come to the conclusion that Pardes Elion is in need of a new, strong, reliable, and collective military body. “Joint forces that are needed to conduct military operations in strive of coherent solidarity, international stability, determination, and defensive precautions.” Including the Central Collective Reaction Force of the initiative, proclaimed as ‘forces capable of rapid response to developing situations’.

Today the forces comprise a variety of naval and air stations vested across the Central Ocean, and to an lesser extent the Victorian Ocean.

Now consisting of the three main signatories, potential member-states are first in line for an application procedure and a subsequent accession to the organisation. The Western Confederal States looks forward to the beneficial opportunities achievable by the new formed CDI institutions. Citing the Secretary of State Pamela Haggison, “The establishment of the CDI is a big milestone for our nation as well as a glorious day in the history of Pardes Elion. I would like to thank both the Belfrasian Kingdom and the Altrenian Administratum for this marvellous event we have all opted for.”

In its new manifesto the council of CDI publicised the first initial steps of structure and has assigned its new secretary general, Jerry Klenfield addressed as main executive to the alliance. Insofar, everything has been looking great, blessed with progressive optimism. Yet ‘with great power comes great responsibility’.

It’s further of importance that CDI does not provoke other military bastions of Pardes Elion, housing one of the strongest navies in the world. The main concern are the Estovakivan authorities, “how are they going to react?” was inquired by an attendant of the first summit in Laesico. Far-left critics in the Citizens’ Republic of the West state that the measure was only taken because of self-interest within the Central Ocean region citing the title of a CRW newspaper article: “The imperialist menace has finally awoken.”— Though CRW demagoguery and propaganda became rather unreliable and condoned sources. In the confederation itself, critics state that it is the ‘fear’ of Estovakivan dominance in the area.

Of course the question remains as to which point conspiracy will arise, but it will always be countered with the “solid prevailing stance of the CDI”.

ORONA, VG — UNADS CEO James Lyons told reporters this past Sunday during a press conference that the F-36 Super Viper has sold "too well" on the international stage.

"The fighter's unique level of technological sophistication has attracted a lot of attention across the world. Our sweatshops are reeling," Lyons said jokingly during the press conference.

The Orthodox Federation of the Eagleland reportedly became the 24th nation to date operating the F-36 Super Viper with its order of around 5,000 F-36A fighter jets, according to various sources.

"We've set an international standard," Lyons said. "With over 50,000 fighters produced to date, the F-36 is quickly becoming the fighter to beat on the international market."

To meet the demand, UNADS and other firms involved in producing parts for the F-36 have outsourced manufacturing to other Emmerian defense contractors, particularly small businesses. When the Joint Dominance Fighter program first began, just over 700 defense contractors, mostly Emmerian businesses, were involved in producing parts for the fighter. That number has swollen to almost 1,300—nearly twice the original amount—in all fifty-one states and now supports over 420,000 jobs across the United Republic.

Critics of the program were quick to denounce the large-scale exports of the fighter, describing its technological sophistication as a prime reason to safeguard its secrets.

"The level of capability that it provides is based on the sensitivity of its technologies," said Professor Stephan Decker, prominent defense technology specialist and aerospace professor at the Corsa Institute of Technology (CIT), one of the top technical universities in the world. "We have to stop giving it to everyone—one of these days it'll fall into the hands of someone who we don't want using it."

Decker's statements were made after the government's decision to export a number of F-36A fighters, rumored to be around 150, to nearby Estovakiva, a nation with whom relations have been strained since the issuance of the Castilla Doctrine. The Castilla Doctrine states that the United Republic "will refuse to export military equipment to [oppressive nations]"; the controversial decision to sell the fighter was made after the Castilla Doctrine, bringing the validity of the Doctrine into question as the moderate stratocracy in Estovakiva now owns a significant number of such fighters. Anonymous sources have indicated that Estovakiva intends to use the fighters as "opposing force" (OPFOR) fighters in its exercises, indicating that it may consider the fighters an effective equivalent of what its own opponents use.

The overall situation sparked further controversy when another major power, the Western Confederal States, was also exported a large number of F-36 fighters. The Western Confederal States are a confederacy inherently part of the Central Defence Initiative (CDI), an organization openly opposing the rumored joint Hegemonic Union-Estovakiva aggression in the Central Ocean—these actions may include potential dispute over the Yoshiwa Islands, a special administrative district of the West, and only around 4,700 km from the nearest island in the United Republic. The Kingdom of Belfras, another CDI member nation, also operates a significant fleet of F-36 fighters. Analysts in both the United Republic and in the three CDI nations have blamed the United Republic government of promoting conflict in the region by selling military equipment to both sides; it is unclear whether or not the United Republic may become involved should such a conflict occur.

Despite criticism regarding the international export of the fighter, the F-36 has exceeded its high expectations in both exercises and live military combat. Many pilots, such as U.R. Air Force Captain Simone Mancini, have been quick to declare their support for the $140 million superweapon.

"There was a certain capability gap that it now covers," Mancini told WZNN via e-mail last Friday. "We had been looking for something to cover that and we hit the jackpot, something that we've been aiming for, and I think we got it."

"It's just so easy to fly that it turns you from a pilot to a tactician. You're not focused on keeping the thing in the air, or looking for enemies in the air, or searching for missiles that may be launched at you. It does all of that for you. All you have to do is perform the actions necessary to respond to the threats that it makes so blatantly obvious. It allows you to focus on making tactical decisions in a rapidly evolving battlespace, since you're not overloaded by the type of things that aren't as important."

Continual upgrades to the fighter have enhanced its capability already. Recently, all Emmerian fighters and subsequent units were upgraded to the Symmetriad Laertes IV advanced ejection seat, a fourth-generation ejection seat that revolutionizes many aspects of day-to-day operation, replacing the third-generation Universal Air Systems SJU-19/B. The Laertes IV will be produced by Universal Air Systems in a joint production agreement with Symmetriad Group. Nations desiring to use the Laertes IV can have their fighters upgraded for a relatively low cost.

To help meet the demand, the export price for the F-36 was increased as more and more fighter jets were placed on order. UNADS and all other involved defense contractors signed a new joint production agreement which is intended to allow the fighters to be produced in adequate amounts while continuing to ensure the high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and high quality is maintained. Sources indicate the F-36 is currently being produced in larger amounts than ever before.

Karadeg: “Good evening and peace be with you honourable brother High Chairman Nentayeg, were glad that you could spare some of your time for us.”

Nentayeg: “Peace be with you too esteemed brother Karadeg, is it no problem for me and my schedule to give this interview.”

Karadeg: “As part of our interview I would like to begin with a few questions on the matter of the Hegemonic Union’s application to the Central Defence initiative.”

Nentayeg: “Certainly.”

Karadeg: “Very well, the Central Defence Initiative was created with the purpose of ensuring peace and stability in the central ocean. What has it to offer and what has the Hegemonic Union to offer in return.”

Nentayeg: “Well first of all I would like to go ahead and say that the CDI as an organization is more than a military alliance. It’s a way to bring different nations together with a common interest of peace and protection of trade despite our differences. What the CDI offers us is exactly that, a new way to approach our Pardesi brothers with the respect that warrants it.“

“What we offer in return shouldn't even be unknown. We’re among the biggest and most powerful military and economic powers in the region. The amount of military forces we have in the central ocean alone dwarfs the whole CDI military stationed in that area by a large margin. They've a few small bases stationed throughout the central ocean from which they operate their ‘regional patrols’. We top this by entire Natalian element of the Unified Navy, that’s roughly one fourth of the first armada, not to mention the entire second armada that operates from bases in Natalia and Havenwalde. We also have tons of merchants moving through that area as part of internal trade routes, as well as those who ferry to Eran, Estovakiva, Talibastain, Pravengria, Havenwalde and many more. The military force we use to protect our freedom to navigate in this ocean as well as ourselves and allies can be used to serve together with our brothers from the Triumvirate. It would be instrumental in protecting the region and keep trade save.”

Karadeg: “The application of the Hegemonic Union has been met with opposition by the Western Confederacy and the United Republic of Emmeria. Both nations claim our entrance is wrong for several reasons. Among other that we lack civil and political rights. The Westerners claim to have taken satellite pictures of the rehabilitation camps. That our Human rights are far to low for us to be part of the CDI. What does this entail for our application.”

Nentayeg: “Yes, what it means is very little, fortunately. The rhetoric they use is predictable but also very irrelevant. It’s a well know both these nations are immature when it comes to the real world. The kind of world they try to paint to their citizens is one were everything not like themselves in an evil that seeks to destroy everything they hold dear. But the reality couldn't be farther from this. What they say is ridiculous, using and understanding they’re terminology which they use to pepper their shenanigans is the key here. Of course civil rights and political right are respected in the Hegemonic Union. These matter are all recorded in our constitution and carried out in accordance with said constitution.”

“What the Westerners and Emmerians mean is that our culture is too different from there’s. Thus their equivalent of our civil rights differs to much from ours. Of course this is a nonsensical reason to bare our application. But to the unenlightened nation like Emmeria and the Western Confederacy these differences form the basis of their modus operandi. After all both are members of the expansionist alliance called the International Coalition for Expansion who’s purpose follows these lines. But we understand unlike them that cultures differ and there for what’s morally right and wrong as well.“

“I mean there are countries out there who have all kinds of horrible and strange things as civil right, like allowing homosexuals to marry, or mothers to murder their own unborn children because they don’t want them. Many even claim that marriage is an individual choice as opposed to a choice made by the whole family. But you don’t see us making alliances or starting wars to change these things in other countries. As always the state is the supreme moral authority and culture decided right from wrong. But the Westerners and Emmerians don’t understand this, in their minds what they don’t understand is evil and has to be destroyed.“

“That’s just one matter of their ridiculous claims.”

Karadeg: “And the political right issue?”

Nentayeg: “Again the same thing. But it gets even more foolish. What their objection is that we have a directional government. What they call undemocratic. What they want is that political saboteurs are granted the ability to influence what the state should do alongside the party. The way we protect the nation from communist, other destructive political extremists and ensure national collectivism is what they oppose.”

“ In their view this is wrong. Both countries allow the political system to be uprooted and half-finished policies to be replaced by polar opposite ones every couple of years. This works for them because both countries live off the sad remains of previously great colonial empires which makes directional government less important since everything that would require directional government has been done for them in the past and is delivered on a silver platter. Consistent policies and expansionism done by their ancestors for centuries long in the past build their countries for them and now they can ruin it without issues for a very long time. This is different for us. Our countries are hardly a few decades old with many either destroyed through wars in the past. We need consistent policies because we can’t afford to let everything stagnate or half finished. We need to toil and bleed for any sort of social security, freedom and happiness.”

“Apparently this warrants enough reason to keep us from joining the CDI according to them. But what both forget is that the CDI is indiscriminate to the kind of government that its members have. There are three member states currently in the CDI. One constitutional monarchy, one presidential republic and one socialist single-party state. The latter one is the Altrenian Administratum, which is not a ‘Democracy’ in every sense of the word as they use it, and on top of that its system (although socialist) doesn't differ that particularly from ours. The idea that we should be excluded from the CDI because of our political system is simply not grounded in facts as they are. They either know this and lack better excuses or they are lack the intelligence that would be expected of leaders.”

Karadeg: “Then if not the political system what else?”

Nentayeg: “What really is the issue is that we are a threat to their ability to invade other countries. Both nations are a member of the International Coalition for Expansion. An organization whose main goal is to invade other nations, destroy their governments and culture and substitute this with their own government system and views on morality. They call it ‘liberating’ since they’re unenlightened, specifically lie to themselves on these issues, dress up their greed and killing urge in naïve ideas such as central moral authority (specifically their authority). It’s basically the World Assemble if it wasn't a ‘pointless article production organization’ but an organization that used force.”

“Of course since they simultaneously condemn violence but cannot survive without it they make foolish excuses like this, claiming it is for non-existent things like ‘human right’ and ‘international law’. In the end they are both expansionist nations who desire nothing but money and power and we are threat to this. They think hiding behind the Triumvirate will grant them the protection they need to not be swiftly crushed by the Hegemonic Union, so they can conquer other nations without interference from us. What they don’t realize is that the Administratum will keep them on a short leash. After all if you want to conduct imperialist policies you don’t ally with the biggest anti-imperialist nation in the whole region.”

Karadeg: “The recent nuclear test conducted by the Westerners. What does this mean for our relations with the Western Confederacy?”

Nentayeg: “Nothing.”

Karadeg: “Excuse me deeply brother High Chairman, but why doesn't this effect our relations.”

Nentayeg: “Well for one these test ceased to impress us ever since the war for national defence. After the hundred nuclear tests then we don’t see these test as anything more than tests. Any message attempted to be spread through this is one of biggest case of hot air blowing. The western arsenal of nuclear weapons is minuscule compared to that of the Hegemonic Union, or the Pravengrian Commonwealth and that of Estovakiva. They know our policies on nuclear weapons good enough not to use them in anger. What is interesting however is that they clearly directed this against their allies as a way to voice their objection to our application. This goes to show that they westerners are very immature politically, but we have known that for many years so there's no surprise within the central government on this latest exemplary case of Western politics.”

Karadeg: “Now one last question. How do you think that the current issue between Estovakiva and the Western Confederacy should be solved?”

Nentayeg: “We and the Administratum should join forces to get both parties on the negotiation table and start working towards reduction through military concessions on both sides. Clearly the Estovakivans need to be more careful with their training flight, seeing somebody as paranoid and irrational like the Westerners are so close to the patrol area, they are simply asking for trouble. The Estovakivans should try to present themselves as less intimidating so that the Westerners will stop thinking that an invasion is going to be launched every ten minutes of the day. I think that way we can keep tensions low and make everybody feel saver.

Pravengria to Expand

Saxonpol', Pravengria. After much discussion inside of Parliament, the decision has been made to launch a series of expansions into unorganized territories near-by. This came after an assessment by the Pravene Human Evaluation Index was released yesterday bringing forth the problems of poverty, and other issues residing in these near-by areas. Under the Pravene Intervention Policy established in 2011, The Pravene Government has the authority to launch necessary expansions, and bring areas under it's domain, and establish Free self-ruled Autonomous republics that will join the Commonwealth and receive Medical aid, food, and other necessary supplies to improve living conditions and to ensure that security and stability be maintained.

A plan was finally set forth by the Pravene Humanitarian Division, and accepted by Parliament to be used as the guidelines and mandates the Military must follow. In the plain, identified as 'Operation Newlight' the Military will be able to move forces to areas and first establish order. Next the plan states, that the living conditions of the areas be assessed and utilities be set up and deployed. After order has been set down, the Military will then give control of the territory to the populace of the area and the Pravene Commonwealth recognize them as a Self-Autonomous Republic. From then on, the Military will have to coordinate with the government of the territory to help build infrastructure and provide jobs.

What has come however as a worry is International view of this being Imperialism. However, being that Pravengria is an Open society, the government personally sees no need to force these areas to speak Pravene, or practise a different religion et cetera. Essentially at the end of these expansions, new Self-Autonomous Republics will have improved substantially living wise, and crime rates drop, and be able to rely on Pravengria for protection, and resources. ''This opportunity will allow these areas to come to be 1st world, and allow them to rule themselves, and not worry about being invaded by some out-of-region power.'' said Commander Alan who will be planning the moves.

A carrier group will be deployed to the north in an area named by the Pravene Government as ''Havengria''. Once in position, helicopters and boats will start to deploy troops, equipment, and other supplies for Mobile Hospitals, Mobile Kitchens, and basic shelters. From the Island of Kal, the 2nd Fleet will be deployed eastward to establish bases, and start the process of elevating areas in need. The proposition almost didn't pass in Parliament, because the Humanitarian Division was worried the Military would use this as a way of Invasion. However, luckily the Military has been set on guidelines by Parliament that this be only done for Humanitarian Operations and to elevate these areas to 1st or even 2nd world status. The areas the expansions are moving to is shown below. From the Belvencia Self-Autonomous Republic, [The area on the Southern Continent] the 4th and 7th Motorised divisions will move to help provide order and as well route out a terrorist group residing in this area that has been linked to attacks in Belvencia. ''Alot of these areas have come under control of terrorist groups, or drug trade cartels. And this time, Pravengria is refusing to let these people living in these territories have to deal with the oppression they're having any longer. Pravengria is essentially declaring war on Poverty, Cartels, and two Terrorist groups operating in the south.''

Planned areas to expand to, to help route-out malicious groups and be able to provide better services for populations living in these areas.

The economy's improvement over the past year has won supporters for Premier Slovaček as election year edges ever closer.

Although the economy is not yet where it was prior to the 1983 Revolution, it is at its all-time high since the founding of the SSR in '91. Supporters of the "Great Leap Forward" are convinced that these reports show that, if continued, the "Great Lead Forward" could double, possibly even triple the output of Premislyder industry, agriculture, and services by 2014. "Clearly we still have a long ways to go before we're back to pre-war economic strength." Minister of Economics, Bronislav Kadlec, said in an interview last night. "However, if we keep the pace that we're going at, we can easily meet, perhaps even surpass, our pre-war strength by this time next year." The Minister's words have been taken to heart, as many more factories and farms are increasing their quotas and putting more and more Premislyders to work.

Not all are blindly throwing their support for the plans, however, as veteran political officers still have doubts regarding the effectiveness of the "Great Leap". A political movement, dubbed "New Premislyd" has been increasing its members as more farms are being collectivized in order to meet the incredibly large agricultural quotas set by the PME. Chairman of this movement, Irena Chalupnik, has been speaking more and more out against Slovaček and the current regime under General Secretary Pechacek. In an press conference early this morning, Chalupnik commented "History has shown us time and time again that these government economic plans are failures from the getgo. The Zdislavs tried this in the final years of the Second Empire, and we all know how that turned out." Only time will tell whether these plans are in fact a "Great Leap Forward" or rather a "Great Leap Backwards."

Carrier Group arrived, Reports of combat coming in from the South

After leaving port two days ago, the Northern Carrier Group has reached the shores of the Northern Unorganized Pravene Territories[NUPT]. Once the group had made it to their destination, Samson helicopters lifted troops and supplies from the decks of the ships while AIV's rolled out into the waters and ferried to the shore. By the end of the day, a small outpost had been set up to radio back to the fleet. Commander Alan expects that the Territory will come under organization by the end of the month.

With everything going well in the NUPTs, the other two fleets are still on their way in the east. Almost right after the statement and plan was put forth, the 4th and 7th Motorized divisions rolled into what currently is named the Southern Unorganized Pravene Territories. Unlike the other forces that are moving to territories, both the 4th and 7th are also coming heavily armed. Since the late 80's a terrorist group know as the Eslovantes has been linked to four bombings including numerous attempts and over-all destabilization of the Belvencia Autonomous Republic in Pravengria. After Pravene intel identified that key targets, including compuonds run by this organization were settled in this territory, Parliament issued that the main objective was to regain control of the area and eliminate the group.

After crossing the border into the Unorganized lands, Sgt. Junio, a Sargent in the 4th MD, stated that ''upon moving through towns, children would run up along side the trucks and APC's waving and trying to keep up. It was odd to see places that were so run down.'' About Mid-day yesterday, upon entering the small city of Sulna the 7th MD ran into combat where militants open fired on some convoys with small arms fire. Already in day 1, and so far two vehicles have been hit with IED's and four troops injured. Commander Alan stated at a press conference, that the 4th and 7th will continue on a Search and Destroy mission to route out the militant group, and to gain control of the situation. Supposedly the 7th is meant to be the front-line forces, while the 4th helps carry out Humanitarian operations.

Eastern Armada deploys task forces to the eastern sea

This morning a task force fleet of the eastern armada, consisting of ten surface groups and multiple submarines left harbor for what a navy spokesperson stated is a readiness patrols in the eastern sea.

“The Unified Navy retains the ability to deploy to any political and or strategic crises whenever it threatens the Hegemonic Union. In times of wayward nations with ambitions opposed to our goals running rampant we must be always prepared to deploy to whatever place we are required. It’s a test of our readiness, a test to see how fast we can respond to a crisis“ Commander of the Eastern Armada stated after the launch.

The Unified Navy has been reorganizing its formations recently with the expansion of the naval doctrine and the new surface battle formations that are nearing completion in the coming years, with several more planned to be added, the unified navy is expect to keep growing and modernizing to a point where security and freedom of the Union is not only protected but unassailable. That is if other navies in the world don’t grow and upgrade along with it.

An unlikely situation. High Chairman Nentayeg Daye had expressed his sincere hopes during the last party congress that peace and stability would remain in Pardes Elion, but added “the time is running out where our patience with the rest of the region remains. We are getting increasingly disturbed at the gigantic party of waving guns. There’s bound to be a point where this no longer becomes a sustainable execution of politics and we are not going to wait until that happens. There a time for words and there’s a time for deeds, but the time for words is not yet ended. We still urge a stand down of expanding military operations in the southern area of the central ocean. Nobody can benefit from it and nobody has to lose anything for it if people started seeing reason instead of threats everywhere.

The signs of change?

Anyone who wishes to understand the politics of the Hegemonic Union needs to understand how it operates and the Tehraani culture which permeates uncontrolable through all its actions.

The most common myth told about the Tehraanian Fascist Union is that it is fascist, quite ironic however, truth be told the total number of fascists in the party is somewhere between one and two percent of the total party membership. It’s far from fascist, the fast majority of the party members are politically only interested in protecting their own interests and would care little about the kind of ideology the party espouses. Although membership is obligatory for a number of socio-economic positions such as administrative position or entrepreneur of a business of a certain size.

This makes the party much more diverse than the government would like people to believe. And it is this diversity results in a diversity of opinion which from the mid to late thousands has been the thorn in hard-liners side.

The lack of an official statement on any issue which would otherwise be of interest to it, such as the Pravengrian expansion has always been a clear indication that the central government cannot come to an agreement on it. This to the dismay of the hard-liners.

Hardliners like Nentayeg Daye and Kayameg Itake who claim the Hegemonic Union is a ‘directional government’ that is a government capable of maintain consistent policies and runs under a single ideological and political line, thus elimination the inefficiencies of democracy or other forms of government. The problem is that it isn’t. The Hegemonic Union hasn’t been a ‘directional government’ for three years, but to be more exact it stop being one even before the creation of the Hegemonic Union. Ever since the death of Nentayeg Ikalrem in 1999, ‘directional government’ has been slowly eroding away.

Why does this happen? One only needs to look at the political situation the past decade and the most basic part of Tehraani society. The issue of power and leadership. In our culture, the position of leadership has always been arbitrary, not inheritable nor granted through an law of principle other than the basic requirement for the person in question, he had to lead by example. Unfortunately the display of force has been and still remains the chief element of any form of politics in Tehraan and it has been this that has kept the system working in the nineties.

There are four major power cliques in Tehraani society at the moment. The corporates or more precisely the socio-economic elite or upper class, the circles of the military elite, the parties paramilitary called the Tehraanian National Front and Akaya-te (brotherhoods) which are crime syndicates engaged in traffick and contract assassins who also run protection rackets around the country. Anyone who wishes to maintain control in Tehraani politics needs to have these four groups behind him or under control. Ikalrem did this by being both a charismatic and utterly ruthless head of the TFU, where even the slightest deviation of opinion could be a one way trip to the firing squad. His successor and son Nentayeg Daye has been less then effective with his father’s methods and it has caused him the loss of at least the support half of the four power players.

There is no significant constitutional difference currently between the Tehraan today and Tehraan two decades ago. The fact is that Tehraani government and the Hegemonic Union by extension is designed to run as a dictatorship but now lacks a dictator to run it. And the increasing independence of the political elite from the central leadership is what is causing the lack of ‘directional government’. If our people’s history to be believed, this is a tell tail sign of a change power soon to take place. The question remains who’s going to take the current regime’s place, and who will the ones who’ll pay with their lives as a result?

Pravengria gaining momentum

It is one thing to say Pravengria has turned itself around, and another to say it has done so and is gaining momentum. After the Chyekish Civil War which overthrew the almost eight-hundred year old Age of Authoritarianism, the nation was recovering from what many international observers called ''a blood bath''. The government had been completely over thrown by a coup d'etat, which then caused the civil war and eventual dissolution of Chyeknovostan. Out of it rose Pravengria, a new name for the once Chyekish people. A referendum chose the government and structure and numerous programs were launched to rebuild.

Today, the scars of that war are barely noticeable and Pravengria has gained momentum. The economy is at an all time high, the population is working, culture is flourishing and the nations overall influence and power has definitely started to expand. With new domains now coming under control in Parliament's 'Operation Newlight'' plan, the nation is now on its way of completely upgrading its entire force.

With the new Cupla replacing the Trushev in destroyers, other designs and plans are coming together to launch the biggest reorganization, rearm, and upgrade of the Royal Military. This will re-assert Pravene control, and provide security and defense for the nation and her people's. With aims looked at expanding trade, the nation is looking for new investors. The Oil and Steel Industry has hit an all time high, causing a surplus in oil products, and massive mounts of wealth. As the ''Les Tiempos'' stated, Pravengria is now entering its Golden Age. The nation is pursuing peace, education, stability, and security. And therefore has pushed itself back on the International Stage.

Dia la Victoria Celebrations

''Viva les persones de le nacion! Viva les partijanos!'' is a familiar phrase in Pravengria that most citizens know. It is a nation-wide celebration known as ''Victory Day'' or ''Dia la Victoria'' in Pravene. Across the country people are out of work, and with their families celebrating the Chyekish Victory in 1639 that gave the people freedom from the Chenkish empire which collapsed a year later.

Fireworks, and food have been prepaired as well as a speech to be given by His Majesty, Dmitri Alestei. Thousands have flocked to Saxonopl' to see the occasion, as well millions more nation-wide are expected to tune in on their radios and televisions to watch. Victory Day is also being celebrated for the Partisans lost in the Civil War, when Chyeknovostan fell apart.

Task Force deployed

Amid tensions, HM has deployed a small task force of two nuclear submarines, and three Guided-Cruise missile cruisers from the Shield to move into the Straights. Amidst reports of Tehraan dispatching a group, Pravengria has come a bit on edge. The Task Force will launch a few patrols in the straights and keep an eye on the Tehraani group. After a few days in the straights, the group will then move out eastward to monitor activity and watch for any illegal activity.

The group is expected to be out for a week before returning safely to the Shield. Pravengria is looking forward to keeping tensions cool, and not escalate the situation any further. With new warships and the military being upgraded, Pravengria will better be able to defend itself if needed be. However war is the last thing the government wants.

Conflict Escalates in Southern Territory with Eslovantes

The 7th MD has come into conflcit near the small city of Skalzhia. This occured earlier this week when a small DshKm Detachment was ambushed by Insurgents. Orders were given to move into the city and route out the insurgents and hopefully gain control. So far the current death toll in the area has reached 11. The fallen will be prepared and flown back to their respective families in the next few days.

The conflict has become more and more heated, as Insurgents have been setting off IEDs and even mortaring nearby villages currently under control of Royal Forces. After reports indicated a warlord leader of the Eslovantes in Sklazhia, the 7th has been tasked with capturing the leader, and any intel on other locations of the group.

The racing world has suffered a terrible loss with the death of Mikaela Treabian, former NSCS driver and current record holder for the most points scored by a rookie. During the second-to-last lap of the race at Kunar Circuit Treabians car suffered a massive blowout and slipped a barrier for a turn, causing her car to spin violently into the tire wall two hundred yards from the point of contact. Mikaela was announced dead at the circuits hospital an hour after the incident and subsequent red flag of the race with Henshi Racing driver Thomas Jurgen claiming victory.

Merconti Racing, the team of which Mikaela Treabian made her career with, have asked for privacy for mourning and that an investigation into the accident will occurr "As soon as humanly possible".

Unrest in Portsdown

Friday, 23rd November, 2012

Portsdown has always been known for the noise generated at the port, but nobody guessed that the noise would be generated elsewhere by a riot outside of the Bruelein Province Governors office in Portsdown on Friday night. The protest was rumored to have been started by labour unions angry at the recent passing of provincial legislature insisting any and all unions must apply for permission to strike at least a week prior to the event. Violence broke out almost three hours into the protest when three individuals with guns opened fire on the governors office, causing an escalation which could have proven fatal.

Portsdown Metropolitan Police Commissioner warned that such riotious activity would not be tolerated and insisted that investigations into the unknown individuals that opened fire will commence and that they will be brought to justice. In the same conference, the Commissioner declared that over two hundred arrests were made and all were identified on CCTV as taking part in the riot, earning them a charge of Riotious Conduct.

Sometimes the fire department is sent out on calls which can be said to be more unusual then the others. In the case of the Winsted-county fire department, it was down-right bizzare.

Once the engines of the Winsted-country fire department arrived at the city of Belmont they came across a most unusual site. A giraffe had fallen down a excavation hole to a degree that its body had completely vanished, but the majority of its neck was still visible. The unusual occurance had occurred after the adult male Giraffe, known as Berty the Derpy, escaped confinement at Norbain Zoo after a series of firecrackers startled the creature.

The fire department, with assistance from Skyrescue, a helirescue service, assisted Berty the Derpy in gaining his freedom prior to being reconfined at Norbain Zoo following an examination by vets.

OURED, D.A. — Sources that requested anonymity told WZNN this past Thursday that tensions in Pardes have reached an all-time high.

"The Hegemonic Union's declaration [of maritime denial of access] is political and diplomatic suicide," the source told WZNN via e-mail. "The United Republic will come under attack and there is nothing that can be done to prevent that from happening anymore."

"If I'd have to guess what is going to happen as a result, I'd say there will be a big [mess] of violence across Pardes."

ICE opposition and tensions with Ralkovia entered an entirely new dimension when the Hegemonic Union, a political union consisting of Tehraan, Natalia, and Tehraani, declared that it would indiscriminately fire upon all non-regional ICE naval military assets in Pardes. The JIA accused the HU and its denial of access, which curiously came just days after Ralkovia implied it would prepare an invasion force, for attempting to prevent ICE nations from fulfilling the characteristic collective security policies the organization is founded upon in response to the potential for Ralkovian aggression.

Reports indicate that the Western Confederal States, a close United Republic regional ally, is willing to sever its positive relationship with the HU should it support such an invasion. As part of both ICE and the regional security organization CDI, the move comes as a unique turn of events representing a shift in Western foreign policy since the WCS's secession from the Citizen's Republic of the West this past September. The West has been allied with the Hegemonic Union since the 1991 First Talibastain War, when the Western Republic, the WCS's effective predecessor, cooperated with Tehraani forces against Rakistani rebels, local revolutionaries, and Alabasta.

Tensions with Ralkovia were initiated when combined ICE military forces commenced slavery interception operations in the ocean between Gholgoth and Tyrrhenia, the focal point of the Ralkovian slave trade, which is among the three largest in the entire world. Traditional allies of Ralkovia, such as the Parthians, are expected to aid Ralkovia in any resulting action. Reports indicate that the massive array of opponents of Ralkovia, including key antislavery proponents Allanea, Lamoni, Libertarian Governance, and Kahanistan, may potentially support the United Republic and allied parties against Ralkovian aggression.

The Ralkovian government or other associated nations have yet to make official statements on the prospect of a Ralkovian invasion.

The United Republic has reportedly requested an emergency CDI session in Laesico to discuss what it termed as "security issues". It is unclear whether this conference is related to Ralkovian threats.

Ilopl' Fleet Sent to Help against Ralkovia-Grupe de Ilopul Sendato aiudar contra Raucubia

Saxonopl'-The capital has been busy as meeting after meeting with Parliament, the Crown and the Judicial Ministry go under-way. Just recently, almost a week ago the Ilopl' fleet was deployed to head North and aid ICE and the Edomite allies of Pravengria in halting and stopping the inhumane slave trade by the nation of Ralkovia. Although currently the Royal Naval Command has given strict orders for the fleet to not engage in any land base operations, it is still under debate as too how much the fleet will be used. Currently its mission is to help defend the blockade and disrupt slave shipping.

This will be the first serious engagement the Ilopl' fleet has been in since the Civil War. Families at home are hoping that their family members come home safely, it is expected that the fleet will reach Tyhr within a week or so. Parliament is currently debating on a bill of whether or not to declare an official state of war and get heavily involved in the conflict. ''As much as we can agree that the Slave Trade should be stopped, we also must focus at home and deal with domestic issues even within our own region'' said General LaVuelca at a Press Conference earlier yesterday.

It's become a concern as to how the HU will react since tension has come up of the recent Pravene Expansions. Not long after a Coalition was formed to counter the Slave Trade did the HU warn of attacking extra-regional vessels of ICE if they came into Pardesian waters. Ultimately, the Defense forces are arming to ensure that their fleets stay safe traversing the Pardesian seas. With tensions mounting world-wide, the last thing Pravengria wants is a war within the region between neighbors.

21 Heretical Intellectuals executed for corrupting university students

Cardinal Atticus Decius has been the High Magistrate for Faith Protection for 22 years.

Cardinal Atticus Decius reported today at the monthly, Faith Security Conference that 21 university proffessors have been executed for heretical crimes, with the primary charges being that of corrupting the souls of students and causing division between them and the Church. They were also found guilty of minor grade charges of them pull the students away from the Path of Enlightenment. The executions of the 21 heretics marks a 9 month high in the number of criminals executed by the authorities for crimes against the faith.

All 21 worked and taught at the University of Konstantine and were reported to the authorities four months ago for heretical behaviour, with one professor asking his students, "Who here actually believe's the path will lead us to true enlightenment?" Others among the 21 were also reported by devout and patriotic students, who claimed their tutors were claiming enlightenment was attainable whilst living our mortal lives and is in fact knowledge. One of the professors was arrested for rape 10 years ago but the case was dropped due to poor evidence. Also, 3 of the proffessors were given verbal warnings by the University's Chancellor regarding heretical behaviour within classes, one was questioned by the University Religious Doctrine Board for not physically punishing a student for mis-interpreting a verse from the Arada.

Later through several police investigations, it was found that the proffessors were engaging in secret meetings regarding secularisation and the so called 'contradictions' in Artorianism. They were all arrested simaltaneously whilst teaching on Thursday of last week and all sentenced today.

The news of the investigations and reports of heretical behaviour shocked the student body, the University Boards will not face punishment due to their cooperation in the investigations. 4 Students are currently being questioned by the DSA for possible religious corruption.

Cardinal Atticus Decius whilst speaking at the conference has made further promises to seek out and destroy any heretical individuals.

"We must not be lenient, not for a minute, not for a day. These people are like snakes, they constantly move to hide themselves and we must hunt them down and go where they would go, we will destroy and remove all heretical thought and ideas from our nation and our unitied mind and soul. If we are find that these heretical thoughts and beliefs derive from the National Social State of Natalia, we will take all necessary action to protect our borders from the evil of unbelievers, we must remind ourselves daily that our nation and faith are under constant attack from the influences of those who embrace evil. We must also thank God almighty every day that the great saviour Artorius led us onto the path of enlightenment, and whilst travelling it, we will destroy all evil. Thank you and stay vigilant".

Last month 3 teenage girls were violently attacked and one subsequently died following a confrontation with several members of the 'Army of the One', it was reported that the girls were discussing fashion from Emmeria, to which they insinuated the dangerous skirts would get them a male companion for the night. The Government has stressed the importance of preserving chastity within society, should it fail the nation of God would befall the same social decadance of Emmeria, the Western State or Estovakiva.

CID: Frentia priest arrested for links to terrorism

Jamestown, FR, UNITED REPUBLIC (UP) — Local law enforcement authorities in Jamestown, Frentia confirmed to the UP the existence of the high-profile arrest of 54-year-old Maximus Savrinola, a leading Artorian priest of Rodarian nationality, for links to terrorism.

Police surrounded the Jamestown apartment at approximately 4:32 PM earlier today, cordoning off an entire city block prior to a two-hour standoff between the Jamestown SWAT team and Savrinola. Savrinola surrendered to the Jamestown SWAT team at 6:43, releasing 27-year-old hostage Amanda Lazni when he surrendered. Lazni showed clear scars, reportedly having been tortured during her time as hostage.

Arthur Reed, spokesman for the Noria County Police Department, told reporters during a media conference nearby the scene that the department had received a 911 call from the grounds of a nearby Artorian religious building at approximately 1:42 to report an assault on a woman by what Reed described as "a middle-aged male". Police arrived on the scene promptly, but by that time the perpetrator had left alongside the woman, who was evidently taken hostage. Witnesses described the man as having been a leading figure at the East Noria Artorian Center (ENAC), one of the only seventeen Artorian religious buildings in the entire state.

At about 3:55, police determined the suspect to have taken refuge in a nearby apartment building, belonging to Kaden Stimson, 35, a Jamestown resident and newly converted Artorian. Department of Justice reported to the Noria Country Police Department at 4:17 that the man who took the hostage could potentially be Savrinola, a man suspected by the CID to be linked to KCP, an Artorian terrorist organization headquartered in Hamsburg, EN.

Within minutes, authorities had surrounded the home and a joint emergency response team consisting of CID and the local SWAT team entered a series of heated negotiations with a man inside the apartment who was reportedly holding a hostage. The hostage turned out to be young Lazni, a small businesswoman from Debruitt, who was reportedly brutally raped and tortured before police confronted the suspect at the door.

The suspect threatened to kill Lazni, prompting a long negotiation process and tense standoff that lasted until about 6:43, when Savrinola exited the building with Lazni and turned himself in. At the time, CID snipers that had taken a rooftop position across the street were preparing to kill him, telling negotiators to lure him near an exposed window on the side of the apartment.

Savrinola is a Rodarian national who has lived in the United Republic for upwards of two years, and has preached Artorian religious ideals at the East Noria Artorian Center in Jamestown since immigrating from Rodarion. He allegedly became a religious icon for Artorians within the country and gained the attention of the CID when he advocated Rodarion, an Artorian theocracy, to invade the United Republic last September in order to spread its religious and political ideology. Prior to his arrest this Saturday, he was considered one of the most influential Artorian clerics in the United Republic.

The police refused to comment on the ongoing investigation regarding Savrinola's motives, which are believed to be religious in nature. According to various accounts, Savrinola has actively advocated armed action against the United Republic for months.

It is currently unclear whether or not Rodarion will enter discussions with the United Republic regarding Savrinola, still a Rodarian citizen living in the U.R. with a green card.
