WHF12 Stage Revealed!
The fourth design coming from EUSKetch is inspired by the aurora borealis and the ever-icy landscapes of Qeekallit Nunaat; and for the fifth time, this enterprise will set it up... Now in the Great Nanoq Opera House.

After much speculation about the WHF12 stage, EUSK1 has finally unveiled the stage that will be used for the great show. It is evidently different from past stages, and this time Euskirribakondara has gone for a certain simplicity in shapes and design, but that will allow a massive array of possible effects and shots to make every performance memorable. Let's take a look at the stage, part by part....

Overview
Image

For the second time in WHF history (WHF8), the stage will not be at the front of everyone.... Everyone will be around the stage itself. It will be built right in the center of the Great Nanoq Opera House after some works of adequation and renovation took place. It's quite basic in itself, two squares located in opposite extremes of the field, connected by ramps and by a giant circle square in the center of everything. Arcs, ladders, walls, screens and a floating structure complete the image. Here (and in most images from now on), you can see the default stage; this means, with the base colours and imagery of this edition. Are you worried about seeing your artist always from his back? Well, here's another new feature.... The central circle staged rotates 360 degrees! Add up a high-fidelity sound, and voilà!

From the Audience
Image

As established already, the audience will surround the stage; but in two ways. One of them is in the VIP seating, which is in the floor that surrounds the stage itself; and the other one is in the skyboxes (not seen in the pictures, but located in the edges of the whole 'cube' that appears pictured). The above is the view from a corner skybox towards the central circle staged.

Aurora Squares
Image

The two squares that are located in opposite corners of the arena are called Aurora Squares. They're squares with an arch, and a system of tall (up to 10 meters) tubes that display different colours and shades of them. The floor is in itself a LED screen that can display any abstract imagery (here you have an ice layer that evocates glaciers); and the archs and tubes change depending on the requirements of the performance. Here, they are pictured in the namesake of this zone of the stage... An aurora borealis pattern. The aurora squares are also the main entrance to the stage from the backstage, through that metal door you can see in the bottom right corner. The tubes were placed in an special way that creates a maze of elements behind (or why not, in front of) the performers (and also in a way they could create an open path towards the entrance/exit doors). Take a look at two random shots from the spider camera of the Aurora Squares.....

Image

Image

Ramp CameraImage

Well, to go from the Aurora Squares to the central circle shaped stage the easiest way are the ramps. They have the same floor of the central stage (which will be explained in the next image), and they go over the orchestra pit (same story). As you can notice, the central stage is a bit taller than the Aurora Squares. The ramps can be effectively used for cool walking shots of the performers, a move quite common in upbeat songs.

Central Stage
Image

And here is the centerpiece of it all.... the central (circle shaped) stage. As you can notice, there are three different levels. The lower one is the orchestra pit. The second level is the main one, and it is surrounded by 22 spotlights (remember 22 is a lucky number in Euskirribakondara) [OOC: Incredibly enough it wasn't on purpose when I made it!]. And the rest is just a 'simple' floor at first glance. Well, it is an special rotating floor that can change of colour pattern when needed... Which allows the audience and artists to enjoy a 360° experience; and customizes the environment for any given performance. The third level is quite small, but it's probably the stage zone that will be used the most (explained later on). Elevators exist in the second and first levels, to create an alternative way to enter/exit the stage.

Orchestra PitImage

The orchestra pit is a ring that surrounds everything and that is separated from the audience thanks to a white rock wall that reminds us of an igloo (unseen in the image are two small round platforms that stand out the crowd on both sides of the stage and are meant for a conductor to be on). They have also two transversal cuts on both sides, that are right in front of the stairs that artists and staff can use to get to the second (main) level of the central stage. What if the artists want to really get into the crowd? Well, here's the direct path they can use!

Third Level of the Central Stage
Image

Even when small, it is quite important because it is the real center of the stage, the arena (even of Narsaattoq during the time of the contest). The floor is a special type of glass that can withstand severe conditions (of heat, cold, weight, etc.) and can be either totally transparent (as above) or can actually have a colour (without a lot of opacity, of course). It is like a well, actually, because below this glass floor, there's a hole with a water fountain in the bottom, and encircled by white stone (as the orchestra pit). The third level itself can be used for performing, or for placing several props.... Or releasing fire/water/fireworks. It is pretty much a multi-tasker.

Northern Light
Image

Image

You probably noticed a few images before that there was a yellow thing hanging above the central stage. It is not just a simple light, it is actually a mini stage in itself. A bit small, but EUSK1 took all safety measures here, and anyone standing on it is actually 'wired' to the roof of the stage. This mini stage is also the central spotlight, and can change to any colour. It was named 'northern light' because like that star, it is the most important, the most shining and the one that everyone looks at.

Screens
Image

By now you were probably wondering what had happened to the everpresent screens. Well, working with the new modus operandi of the stage, the screens are no longer in the stage itself. In the WHF12 stage, there are two giant screens on opposite corners of the arena; that on the camera look behind the central stage. The screen has the capacity to display 3D mapping effects; and otherwise, it is a very-high-definition screen. Probably the largest screens on a WHF stage so far (next to WHF10).

And here are two pictures in a red layout to watch a different 'angle' of the stage. Click also on the subsequent spoiler for some interesting random shots taken all around the stage.

Wilfred Test has an entry!

Image

Today, Network 2 announced and confirmed its participation on the Seventh Edition of the World Hit Festival. Everything was part of an internal decision, and the selected artist was Bree Smyth, as she won the X-Factor (And Q5,000,000) in Wilfred Test for her 'angelic' voice. At the age of thirteen, she will be the youngest entrant to the World Hit Festival, ever. The WHF Regional Delegate Pk. Richard Wright says this: "Bree is the youngest person on WHF ever, she is talented, but I wonder if an audience ten to fifteen times bigger will shake her at all." She announced first to enter in WHF7 with her song 'Ang'l Boy', but after some discussions, Network 2 has changed the entry to "'It's Just Me".

She also planned to enter the 3rd Season of the X-Factor, but withdrew later. Bree Smyth spoke to us: "I wanted to do everything this year, promote my single, enter WHF and The X Factor, but at some points it was just impossible, I'm planning to enter the fourth series though."

The criticism received by the song is the title's resemblance to "This Is Me" from the Disney movie "Camp Rock", but the EMM has authorized the song already, so there are not copyright problems. Network 2 announced that the broadcasting rights of the WHF for Wilfred Test will be transferred to Network 1, and thus, the latter is now the official channel of Wilfred Test at WHF.

Bree's debut album will be also called "It's Just Me", and with this decision, she can now be described as the third representant of Wilfred Test, after Pk. Nova Luci earned 37 points (16th) in the first WHF with the English-language song "Feelin' So Strong"; and after Nova Luci came back to WHF6 with the song "White World", also in English but sung next to DJ Kandi. The results of WHF6 are still not known, but Wilfred Test is currently on the top 10 with 7 points.

Do you think Bree will bring the victory to Wilfred Test? She is also going to a new school, how will being the popular girl fare for her?

Phoenigetuzstha not faring well at WHF6.... But confirmed for WHF7

Image
Dress of Astara Gyuza

After having won the Fifth Edition of the World Hit Festival with Ariana Mago's "Don't Need You" with 24 points, Phoenigetuzstha's fanpages and commentators have announced their dissapointment at the current placing of Phoenigetuzstha in the WHF6 voting. "Keep Your Head Held High" is currently at a joint 13th place with Inkarzikan and Saintrabina, having received just 4 points.

Many have announced that now it's impossible to retain the WHF crown, but the running order of voting was meant to not reveal the winner outright... Which now worries Albertasby, Savski Venac and Marcheria; the current leaders. Nonetheless, some are still confident and now that points will come.

Apart from that, Phoenigetuzstha has announced that their song for WHF7 is done already, and its lyrics are in a mixture of English, and Phoenigetz (the official language). The artist has not been disclosed yet, but it is presumed it will be chosen internally; and then, he/she/they would become the third entrant from Phoenigetuzstha, since the debut in WHF5: the most succesful debut ever (with Khanastan), where Phoenigetuzstha achieved the 1st place... on its 1st try.

Do you want to hear "Keep Your Head Held High"? Here's the tune, and the performance!

The German atmosphere will be on WHF7

Image
Flag of Thatius

Thatius has been participating in the World Hit Festival since the 4th edition, where it achieved a joint 3rd place with the also-debuting Euskirribakondara. On this edition, Thatius achieved 20 points for a song called "Ich Sehe Dich" (I see you) sung in German and English by Kristian Scholz. Then, on WHF5 it came 12th with 11 points collected by Carmen Dianess, with the English-language song "Danger-us". Currently, it is being represented by "Steine Werfen", a composition of Frank Duval in English, German and Serbian; and after the first part of the voting it is in the Top 5, thanks to 3 points from Saintrabina and a wonderful set of 5 points from the Island of Aho.

The official broadcaster has not been announced yet, but the participation is sure at WHF7. The artist and song will be chosen soon, but it is unclear if there will be an open selection process. A bit of Serbian heritage, and German, and English-speaking one is what Thatius mostly is.... And that's what they have been sending to the World Hit Festival.

Will this formula be succesful?

CBU latest news on WHF

Image

The CBU (Chenkoryan Broadcasting Union) is eager to announce that it will participate in the 7th World Hit Festival. Chenkorya (not counting WHF6) is the 2nd most succesful country in the World Hit Festival, and also the 3rd most participating one, having just missed WHF5. The CBU was not so willing to participate on WHF6 at first, but after various meetings, this was possible. And now, the WHF fever in Chenkorya is so good, that they have confirmed their participation on WHF. That's quite great, as they are truly a part of WHF history... "Electric" by Samantha Butlin (52 pts - 12th), "False Hope" by Zora Agrioli & Aeronwen Abaf (39 pts - 1st), "I Don't Care" by Filomena Ungaro (19 pts - 6th) and "Adem De Lucht" (Breathe In The Air) by Marthe Simon (26 pts - 2nd) are entries remembered but at least 3 more countries than Chenkorya.... and it's not undeserved, these entries have been written by the best Chenkoryan minds. As you can see, their worst performance was 12th.... Something other countries would envy!

Their current entry is "De Oneindige Nacht" (The Infinite Night) by Shammion, at the moment in the top 10, but it is predicted it will fare well and even achieve a top 5. And the fanpages have said that the WHF7 entry will be something quite different than the other entries, names that sound for performing or creating the lyrics/music are Julien Comblat and Katelyn (the Chenkoryan artist on NSXF2). However, both the song and the artist will be chosen internally by the CBU.

They've sung in Chenkoryan (WHF1), Dutch (WHF4, WHF6), and English (WHF2, WHF3, WHF6).. Will there be another language on their WHF7 entry? What rhythm will they use?

Euskirribakondara at WHF7

Image
Totó Sambakileué

It hadn't been announced officially here so here it is! Euskirribakondara will be represented by Totó Sambakileué, the 3rd place of Euskal-Musika2, the festival that selected the Euskirribakondaran entries for WV20 (1st place, "Ser" by Anush Hakobyan and Jan Danburrelgó), WHF6 (2nd place, "Bring Me The Locks" by Karolina Etséu and Chieko Orlich) and WHF7 (3rd place, "Ngoma Ya Moyo Wanga" by Totó). Known better by the stage name Totó, this ethnic Bantulu artist has been the center of the Bantulu folk music for 40 years (She's 68 now). In fact, she is the oldest entrant so far in the contest!

She won the 3rd place of Euskal-Musika 2 with a song full of drums and Bantulu-Eundarian rhythm; with 83 points; behind 83 points (but more sets of 10-pts) for "Bring Me The Locks" and 114 points for "Ser". Check out the full results here. She had already won the Semifinal 3 with 100 points, and achieved the 3rd place with 54 points on the Final; but in the Grand Final where she performed first... she was able to take marks that surpassed the 4 points, and 1 set of 12 points from the Andarri region (With a large Bantulu population). She was born in the Kastelàm province, in the little Eundarian town of Kotó, this name is presumed to be the root for her actual given name.

She has promised a show full of the Eundarian flavor, and at least a top 10 for Euskirribakondara to continue with the tradition.... Samira Kareli achieved 3rd place on WHF4 (20 points - "Astuarmana"), Antxara a 6th place (18 points - "Milindagari Sebultsandega"), and Karolina Etséu and Chieko Orlich ("Bring Me The Locks") are expected to bring home a top 10 (at least)... but they are currently on the 12th spot of the scoreboard.

Totó will show a bit of the Euskal culture. Will other countries do the same with their respective traditions?

Yergi P'arratony (Երգի Փառատոնը)... Heat 1 results!

Image

The Արծախիանի Հանրային Հեռուստաընկերություն (Artsakhiani Hanrayin Herrustaynkerut’yun, Public Television of Artsakhestan) days before, confirmed its participation for the upcoming version of the World Hit Festival. After having performed an internal selection for its debut, the broadcaster has announced a new format that will be used on WHF7, and is intended to be used in future versions of the contest.

The selection process was called "Երգի Փառատոնը" (Yergi P'arratony) or Song Festival and it would select the Artsakhiani WHF7 entry. It will consist of 4 Heats with 10 acts each; and the winner of each heat will qualify to the final. In the final, the 4 singers will perform the song "Didn't Even Say Goodbye" (Written by Arto Kaprelyan and Florent Boshnjaku). On the heats, the artists would sing a Eurovision-song on Monday, a WHF-song on Tuesday, an Artsakhiani song on Wednesday, an English-language song on Thursday, and a free-themed song on Friday. Throughout each heat (a week) the public would vote on the best artist, and on each heat there would be one winner.

As there are 4 heats, we'll have 4 acts on the Final. Each one will sing "Didn't Even Say Goodbye", and the public plus juries will choose the entrant for Artsakhestan. The melody can be heard here.

The first heat has already finished, and the participants were:

*Anna Hangaryan
*Helene Törde (From Euskirribakondara)
*Ara Kaprelyan
*Sirusho Aramovyan
*Helim Darungu
*Linga O'Eulu (From Monlyuxeburga)
*Irina Vladeshkoy (From Belikovia)
*Herrú Hangachák (From Ebrorendonostia)
*Mané Mkrtchyan
*U-Vibes

The winner was....
Image
Helene Törde from Euskirribakondara!

She participated on "Misija", the Euskirribakondaran selection for the NS X-Factor; and after leaving the show, she has been coached by Samira Kareli (Euskirribakondarian artist) specially for the Yergi P'arratony. She sung on the heat, "Je Ne Sais Quoi", "Electric", "Arevi Kaghak", "Killing Me Softly", "La Voix" and for those songs, she received 12 points from the audience. Well done!

Aho withdraws, Monlyuxeburga debuts

Image
Dusty Ones

A rule at the World Hit Festival establishes that just 3 countries from the Fledgling Region can participate in the WHF. TVAho, the broadcaster of the Island of Aho, has announced that after financial problems it will cede the participating rights to MNLAU, the Monlyuxeburgan broadcaster, for the Seventh Edition of WHF. A comeback will be negotiated on WHF8, but MNLAU has already accepted the rights for WHF7, and has already selected its artist. The rock group, the "Dusty Ones", based on Monlyuxeburga City, will present four songs at the national final. Their style is very unique somehow, they usually talk humorously or sarcastically about the life.

All the songs are sung in English, and the titles are:

"Toast In The Wind"
"I Can't, I Won't"
"Pizza, Pasta... I'm Done With Lasagna"
"Don't Call Me"
"Monlyuxeburgan Rhapsody"

Televoting will choose the Monlyuxeburgan entry at WHF7, on January 17.

The Island of Aho, for the while with Aleka Le'O'Lilo & Mr. Sakis with "Don't Make Me Go Through Aho", sung in English, Greek and Taloan currently is in a joint 10th place with 5 points, at the WHF6 voting. And hopes to get a good position on WHF8. Meanwhile, Monlyuxeburga expects to make a great debut on WHF7.

What do you think about the Dusty Ones? Who do you want to win the NF?

Megadia continues!

Image
Flag of Megadia

Megadia is a country that just entered the family of WHF, on this edition hosted in Beldonia. Their rap-reggae entry, "Life Without Her", is sung in English by Broken Rules (Carlton Haynes, by his given name), is currently 16th with 3 points in the WHF6 entry. And even if they don't do well, MTC (Megadian Television Corporation) has already confirmed its participation on WHF7.

Further information (Song and Artist, or selection process) has not been released.... But as soon as they say something,
we'll let you know!

WHF7, how does it look so far?

Image
New generic logo for the WHF

The WHF7 will start with the generic logo of the WHF, and thus, this image has already been presented. The host country of WHF7 must change the colours to their national colours, and put its flag on the little note that forms the 'd'. So far, we have 8 particiating countries: Artsakhestan, Chenkorya, Euskirribakondara, Megadia, Monlyuxeburga, Phoenigetuzstha, Thatius and Wilfred Test:

Artsakhestan - "Didn't Even Say Goodbye" by TBD (Yergi P'arratony)
Chenkorya - "TBD" by TBD (Internal Selection)
Euskirribakondara - "Ngoma Ya Moyo Wanga" by Totó Sambakileué
Megadia - "TBD" by TBD (TBA)
Monlyuxeburga - "TBD" by the Dusty Ones (National Final)
Phoenigetuzstha - "TBD" by TBD (Internal Selection)
Thatius - "TBD" by TBD (TBA)
Wilfred Test - "It's Just Me" by Bree Smyth

EMM presumes that Syreoinian will make a second edition of the "Comórtas Ceol", and the other 13 countries will most likely do an internal selection. The EMM expects no withdrawals, and more returns and debuts; therefore, its executive board is in different meetings with other broadcasters to bring them to the contest.

Phoenigetuzstha has announced its entry

Image
Image of the duo

Harkah Qartaj has been named the official act that will represent Phoenigetuzstha at WHF7. They are a girl duo that rose to fame after they released their debut single 'Dancing on a Ziggurat' which reached 2# in the Phoenigetuzsthan Top 40. Their next single 'Haby Luhk' reached the top spot and stayed there for 5 weeks. More recently they have been a guest judge on 'WorldVision - You're Country Needs You!'. They have also spent a day in Tanitduriik, learning about the spiritual history of Phoenigetuzstha and watching temple priests and learning the ways and music of the holy prostitutes. The single they will be performing is 'Ahlbyahbibi' which means 'My Love' in English. It is rumoured to have an Arabic-Belly Dancing theme as that is what the girls specialize in. The song will have lyrics in Phoenigetz and English.

Two more countries for WHF7

Image Image
Flags of the two confirming countries

Thanks to the meetings the WHF Overseers have mantained with the broadcasters of the Chinese Regions, and the Kiaser Colonies; these countries have confirmed their participation of the Seventh Edition of the World Hit Festival. It is not known which selection method will they use, but it is most likely that they go through an internal selection.

With this two more confirmations, we've reached a number of 10 confirmed countries: Artakhestan, Chenkorya, Chinese Regions, Euskirribakondara, Megadia, Monlyuxeburga, Phoenigetuzstha, Thatius, the Kiaser Colonies and Wilfred Test. And it is presumed that Albertasby, Amekikia, Crolacia and Syreoinian will confirm soon; at least, that's the goal for EUSK1.

The winner of WHF6!

Image Image
The winners of WHF7

Collecting 37 points from 11 different countries, and two sets of 5-pts (from Artsakhestan and NobleBastard), Euskirribakondara achieved its first win ever in the World Hit Festival. It was the entry with the largest number of votes collected (that means, most countries voted for it) and also, the largest number of points. Albertasby came second with 35 points, and Chenkorya came third with 31 points. The top 5 was completed with Saintrabina (28 points) and Thatius (23 points). Karolina Etséu (from Harrikes, Euskirribakondara) and Chieko Orlich (from Svobodata, Chenkorya) and their song "Bring Me The Locks", with lyrics in English, Sirbadian, Euskal and Bantulu became the sixth winning entry in the WHF history. These number of points, represents the seocnd largest win after the Chenkoryan record in WHF2 (and not taking into account WHF1, for its different points system).

They performed last in the night (22nd), and maybe, this worked well with the televoting. The magic and happiness they displayed, is however, the factor that made them win, according to the experts. Its ethno/folk influences also made the entry unique, and the good choreography and show was praised by the audience. Apart from that, the whole show received a great feedback from the other broadcasters. The girls won't make a comeback for WHF7, as the Euskal entry (and the Chenkoryan one) have already been determined. It is presumed that they could be invited to host WHF7.

Megadia and Wilfred Test announce some changes

Image Image
Flags of Megadia and Wilfred Test

Wilfred Test has announced a title change for its WHF7 entry, and it is now "That's Just Me". It has been told that Bree is working hard to give her best at WHF7, and get a better position that Kandi and Nova's 7th place this edition (20 points). On other news, MTC confirmed that a national final will be held in order to determine the Megadian entry for WHF7. Megadia achieved an 18th place on WHF6, will they do better this time?

CBU goes with an internal selection... A gift to Euskirribakondarans?

Image
Lilavati

CBU confirmed the choice of an internal selection, by confirming the artist that will represent Chenkorya in Euskirribakondara. Lilavati, who has been nicknamed "the talent of the century" by experts and other musicians throughout Rushmore and the Fledgling Region; due to her impressive vocal and performance skills. She's extremely hyped all over the both regions, and her fame is quite high in Chenkorya, Albertasby, Beldonia and Euskirribakondara. Her latest single "Mr. Cool" was number 1 in the four mentioned countries; and went on high positions in charts of other countries.

The Euskal fanpages are already praising the decision, and many suspect the Euskal 5 points will go again to Chenkorya. Lilavati has been already invited by EUSK1 to make a little tour throughout Euskirribakondara to promote her single and of course, her WHF entry. Also, the EMM (Euskirribakondaran Ministry of Music) is scheduling some concerts and featured appearances for her... the talks with her staff are underway.

Chenkorya stands currently in the WHF Ranking at the 2nd place, after having a 12th position, a 1st, a 6th, a 2nd and a 3rd place, throughout its history. It has participated since WHF1, and just withdrew on WHF5.... Making it one of the names associated with the WHF one way or another.

Lilavati is right now working hard on her entry, and it is rumoured the best Chenkoryan producers are helping her. Some information was leaked and we were able to know that currently, there are 2 titles for the song, (of course, just one will be chosen for the entry, at the end): "Purple Smoke" and "Wallow". The bets in Euskirribakondara already place her as winner, without knowing the song, because they just love her!

Will she get another top 10 for Chenkorya?

Euskirribakondara promises a great show

Stadium layout for the show

EUSK1 has confirmed that it will host WHF7, after Karolina Etséu & Chieko Orlich's win in Beldonia. The presenters, the logo and the motto will be presented on January 15, when the signups are open. What is known so far, is that the venue is the Harrikes Olympic Stadium, and it will accomodate 200,000 attendants for the show... There will be quotas for international audience, more details to be known soon.

The layout for the show was also released, and the EUSK1 officials promise "a great show. The best WHF ever seen". With 10 confirmed participants before the signups officially start, a record of participation is still possible.

We reach 12! And Artsakhiani fans worried...

Image Image
Flags of the new confirming countries

As it was expected, Albertasby and Crolacia confirmed their participation on the Seventh Edition of the World Hit Festival, to be hosted in Harrikes, Euskirribakondara. Crolacia has said the national selection is already underway, whilst Albertasby said nothing about their selection process; however, it is presummed they will go with an internal selection as usual.

On other news, the main fanpages from Artsakhestan regarding WHF8 are creating a platform of protest against AHH, the Artsakhiani broadcaster. They have argumented that, if the show's being hosted in Euskirribakondara, a country where Armenian is official and vastly understood; it's very odd to send a song in English, and actually a bit offending. To début, they present a full-armenian song; and the fans are calling for maintaining the Armenian tradition. It is proposed that the song gets translated into Armenian with the title "Նա չի ասել bye" (Na ch'i asel bye), which means "He did not say bye". Others have proposed a new version called "Ես ասել եմ, ոչ մի" (Yes asel yem, voch' mi), which means "I said no".

AHH has said they are taking these protests in consideration; and are in talks with the lyricist of the song, Arto Kaprelyan, to see the possibilities. Meanwhile, these platforms are gaining new allies thanks to the social networks.

Albertasby went through an internal selection, as it was predicted

Image
Albertasbian entrant

The ABA (Albertasbian Broadcasting Association) did not took too long to tell us who would carry the Albertasbian flag in Harrikes. Katie Sherlock, was selected, and she will sing "Black and Blue". Katie Sherlock defines herself as a determined, strong-willed individual. She originally worked as a model for one of Albertasby's leading fashion designers, but broke into singing several years ago. Since then, she's had a string of top 10 hits and now wants to make it outside of Albertasby, and Euskirribakondara... You might not know this, but our legendary artist, Samira Kareli discovered this talent, and since then she's been importing Katie's singles into Euskirribakondara, making them huge hits. It is rumoured Samira plans to make a duet with her in the future. But that's not the weirdest part of this story....... Katie was selected thanks to the internet.

She leaked via her twitter account (@Ms.Sherlock) that she'd be interesting in participating at WHF. Already someone had been lined up (this still hadn't been revealed to the public) but he/she/they were dropped and Katie was taken on as she was seen as more famous! That's bad news for those guys, but well... Who would have thought a tweet could give you an opportunity?

Albertasby achieved a 10th place on WHF5, a very close 2nd place (and the largest number of 5-pt sets) on WHF7... So, everyone expects Katie to achieve another top 10 for Albertasby! ABA is hoping for that.... On other new, relating the Albertasbian participation, EUSK1 is considering the possibility of having an Albertasbian artist in the WHF7 show, as a featured act.

Crolacia's NF ended.... check out who won!

Image
Crolacian entrant

Crolacian Radio-Television (CRT) who funds the Crolacian participation since WHF4, and broadcasts the show through its channel "CRT1" has announced the results of the National Final. Erina Garlan was the lucky woman who will fly the Crolacian flag in Harrikes, and she will try to get a better position than the 7th place achieved on WHF4, which is Crolacia's best participation so far.

Her song is titled "Tragedy", and achieved the highest marks in the Crolacian National Final, thanks to the votes from the public and the juries. Erina Garlan was born on May 5th, 1991 in the Crolacian capital city of Springfield. She started to sing an the age of 3. She participated in various talent shows and most of the times, she won them. In late 2010 she released her debut album, "Angel", which was a big hit (2,300,000 copies) and so were the songs "I belong to you" and "Soft". In December of 2011 she released her new album, "Stranger". The new album is a megahit with 3,400,000 copies sold so far; and a record breaking 1,000,000 copies sold on the first week.

The entry "Tragedy" which she will be singing on WHF7 has been number 1 in Crolacia for 4 weeks, and has received 25,000,000 views on YouTube, no wonder she won!. Erina is currently going to faculty and has lot of concerts around Crolacia, balancing both tasks very good.... But she's preparing like no one for the contest. She's very "sporty", and she has a fond respect for athletics, maybe she'll use this to present a great show?

Will she be the best Crolacian entrant?

Comórtas Ceol finished in Syreoinian

Image
Flag of Syreoinian

Just like in WHF6, the Syreoinian broadcaster (SYRTV) selected the Syreoinian representative for WHF through the "Comórtas Ceol" (Irish for Music Competition) festival. Comórtas Ceol's second winner ever, has become the responsible of bringing the World Hit Glory to Djeimer. The winners were the folk rock band called "Croí a anam" (Soul and Heart), with a song called "Hearts".

The band members are Marcus Henry, vocals and lead guitar; Jay Andrews, piano; Rían Ó Connairre, banjo; Barry Kenneth, bass guitar; Jonny Hara, drums. They are confident on their song, as it has "their unique folk rock stylings", and this has proven succesful in the World Hit Festival... let's remember that folk was the winner of WHF6!

What is not known yet, is the language of the song... but many fanpages are voting for Irish and English! But, for now, they already know that they will do far better than the joint 20th place (second-to-last) on their début (last edition).

However, it is already known that there will be an open national final that will be televised, and that will have a special jury voting. The name of the national final, and the date will be decided soon; but everything will take part before February 4, the entering deadline.

Thatius's entry and broadcaster selected

Image
Flag of Thatius

Radio-Televizija Thatius (RTT) has been announced as the official broadcaster of the WHF in Thatius, and therefore, it has been welcomed into the WHFBA. Radio-Televizija Thatius, of course, is also responsible for selecting the entries that carry the Thatius flag... and therefore, following the nomination by the Department of Culture of Thatius, chose Philip Nielsen's song called "Sie spricht meine Sprache". The song is a pop single, and it has lyrics in English and German (the title is translated as "She speaks my language"). The song was also voted "Song of the year 2011", and therefore, it has a lot merits to represent Thatius!

Thatius expects another top 5, like they achieved on WHF4 and WHF6. Will they do well in Harrikes?
