Joe and Jake have a better chance winning Bakeoff than they do winning Eurovision, that being said we've taken a step in the right direction.

Thanks. I liked that comment. Rank 15-25 in Stockholm.

I don't see all the negativity about Joe and Jake. It was the most impactful and contemporary of all the songs on the night. Bianca was good, but for Eurovision that song would've bombed.

Joe & Jake with some decent staging and an update or the studio version could do pretty well. I rate this song more than Blue's "I Can" and we came 11th, and 5th in the public vote. It's not a winner, but I think we could get on the left side for sure.

THE SWORD BLOKE & WHY HE SHOULD BE IN WORLDVISION

Hey there, I'm The Sword Bloke, and I'm obviously bidding to become a WV Committee member.
You probably know me from my RPing on NS Sports, and of course from here also. I've participated in every WorldVision from WV 36-45, and I'm here to state why I should be a WorldVision board member.

1. Treat Everyone Fairly
I spend a lot of time looking on the moderators forum, looking at what should and shouldn't be done by members of this forum. Everyone in this contest should be treated fairly, whether in his debut contest or 20th contest. If someone in their debut contest breaks a rule, consequences would be the same under me as for somebody in their 20th contest. With me, WorldVision can become a relaxed community, for people to chill back and relax, prepare a song or even talk about Eurovision if they want to.

2. Try New Things
Only with me in this role do you have someone with the power, strength, wisdom and ability to try and start new projects for WorldVision. Changes are always good, and changes are what this contest needs after a spike in numbers since WV39. I'm also happy to listen to people's ideas; if they have some idea of a good change to make, I'm happy to try it!

3. Do What The People Want
Wait, wait, wait. You want to change rule 12? Want 5 minutes after the voting deadline for your votes? Maybe even want something handed to mods? I'm your guy. If you give me anything you want fixed, unless it entirely breaks WV rules, I'll try to fix it! I'm not afraid of fixing things!

4. Be Online Often
I'm often online on NationStates, probably doing a Sports RP or on this. But whenever you need some help, just give me a TG (I'm not an active IRC user). I'll b sable to answer your question, so everyone wins out of the situation. Fairness is an important part of these contests, and I can't wait to add some.

Well, that's my reasoning. I believe I can be a very good WV Board member, capable of doing things former members have done in the past. Of course, please ask me if you have any questions about my manifesto. Thanks for looking, and please consider me closely when you vote for the board!

Poshtu

BGBC has internally selected popular artist Poshtu to represent the nation in Worldvision 46. She will be entering with the song Ajutajul (Choke). A far cry from previous entries, it is a dancehall-influenced song that promises to bring a sensual and memorable performance to the stage. Conservatives have criticized the lyrics and video, both of which are filled with innuendos and references to controversial topics.

I've seen this a few times and, though it has caught my interest, I never considered joining until now. Anyways, to the IC:

Makuahine

Story: The Celestial Isles is entering a competition using local musician, Anahera Petu, and extending its culture to a global audience for the first time in decades. The song to be used is called "Life Current", and deals with traditional beliefs such as harmony with nature. The song is also known as "Greater Than Us". The young woman singing for the nation is an expert on Yocatullic folk music, as well as a traditional performance artist. She grew up in the city of Makuahine, the nation's capital, and is eager to share her knowledge with the world, regardless of how the competition advances. The song will be performed in cooperation with multiple male artists, and will feature traditional dance and mixed vocal parts.

Electrum WorldVision committee bid

The Person behind the nation

Hi all, I'm Electrum (as if we didn't know that already), and I'm running for the WorldVision Committee. I've been in every WorldVision contest (including the anniversary edition) since WV35 in Yttribia (bar a one edition break), and have submitted two songs every contest under Electrum and Electrum Diplomatic Offices. I am a regular participant in WorldVision with commentaries every edition on mostly all of the songs, voting for twenty nations every edition, etc. I believe I have what it takes to be a member of the WorldVision Committee, and do promise that if I am elected to perform the role diligently and responsibly.

Experience

Whilst I haven't been on a Committee such as this, I believe I have some transferable skills from other forums which would help me in running the Committee. The first thing is that I have been newly elected as the International Basketball Organisation Presidency (and also the incoming Vice President for the Olympic Council), and in the past I have run votes on the IBO constitution, host voting, setting deadlines for bids, and all of that administrative stuff. I also have organisational skills, having co-hosted the Summer Olympics, and now hosting the Winter Olympics, which takes hours in designing schedules, spending hours on NS posting results, etc. This makes me active on the forums so you can be sure for a prompt response that any questions people might have.

What I want to do on committee

1. Answer questions promptly: There are a lot of unanswered questions which go unanswered by the WV Committee, such as when Greg and I asked if our joint puppet was a valid thing to do

2. General improvements on the WV OOC thread: There should be a new section for newbies on how these contests work. As I've seen many people post their lyrics before the contest hasn't started yet... Other improvements could be made, and I plan to introduce them if I am elected

3. Encourage usage of the IRC channel: I'm on it for a few hours a day, and its barely used -- Polkopia, myself and Sarian are usually talking on it, I remember Izmedu being on it a lot, it's there but no one uses it (even though it is on the thread OP). It's a fun extension of the OOC thread with more goofing around, discussion of songs, and other stuff that might be off-topic.

4. Extend sign-ups to when the host bidding ends, but those that sign up during that time cannot vote for the bids. The rule now is just arbitrary and doesn't really make sense. Why do we need to artificially cut it off early anyways?

5. Reform the host voting system <really technical stuff, zone out if you want>: In contests where there are greater than three nations, then we should be able to rank all of them, not just choose our top three. I would really hate to see (for example), maybe 1-2 bids having all of the votes, or a joke host bid getting more votes than legitimate bids. It discourages newbies to put up bids (in their second edition). For Committee voting, I know STV is used, but ballots are randomly chosen, which could theoretically mean different results if different votes are counted. I would suggest using Gregory surplus allocation method.

Thanks for reading everyone! Hope you vote Electrum for the Committee!

In at least one contest there's even been two entries with the same melody.
Nation retconned: The Reich is now Nazis only aesthetically, not politically (although they still call themselves Nazis, but it doesn't mean anything. Hitler died in 1938, Himmler, Goebbels, Göring and the other criminals lost their power in the following power struggle and the Reich became a "regular" corrupt dictatorship). It's based/stuck in the 1950s - 60s, but thanks to Die Glocke we can interact with all worlds. WWII still happened, but ended in a tie. Some Wunderwaffe exist (such as UFO:s and Die Glocke), as well as revived dinosaurs.

Welcome to Oreo City, where the four elements met.

Image

About Oreo City

Oreo City is Antahbrantahstan's capital and also its largest city, Oreo City was founded in 1734 by Jean Cauton-Carlis as a spice market and a base for the British Imperial Force, time has passed, and it is now the most modern, wonderful and amazing city in Antahbrantahstan.

Where can i stay? That's a good question, Oreo City has many hotels, such as the cheaply-priced Adagio, costing approximately 4 Oreos per-night (7.36 NSD), to the expensive and luxurious Symphony, costing 48 Oreos (88.32 NSD) in the cheapest room. Aside from that, Oreo City also have many guesthouses, offering a very cheap price for those who didn't bring a lot of money.

What can i do? Shop, dine, play, and many more, If you like to shop, then we have many shopping malls catered for you, or, if you like, you can go the traditional market and buy some souvenirs. If you like to dine, then we have many restaurants, ranging from fastfood, French, Italian to Chinese and Indonesian cuisine, you can also visit some footstalls around the city. And, if you like to play, then we have many internet cafes, or as we call them, Warnets in every corner, you can also go to Skyway Amusement Park, or you can go ice-skating inside one of Oreo City's shopping malls.

How do i get there? Currently, we are accessible by air, in which we will send 2 A380-8s and 4 777-300ERs to transport fans and addicts to Oreo City. Sending in people to Oreo City from Peeto, Busko, Lavington, Monterra, Thatcher City, Pohyoda-Ostravas, Estograd, Harrikes, Vodiznad, and Carnise on the first week, while on the second week, we'll send fans from Tripoli, Centralis, Caen, New Sarum. and Varea, sending in 200 fans here. No more, no less.

Corsica Indoor Arena

With a capacity of 19.000 people, Corsica Indoor Arena is located in the heart of the city, This arena, opened 3 years ago, usually holds basketball matches, although it sometimes also hosts concerts as well. This arena can be accessed just by walking, since all hotels in this city are at least near the arena, however, if your hotel location is far, you can use taxi or rented cars to get there.

The Stage

The stage is equipped with stage of the art technology, namely StellarVision which enhances the brightness, deepen the darks and widen the contrast of images displayed on the LED screen. Some LED screens are triangle-shaped to represent Diamond, which in turn represents the element Earth. The stage also support laser effects, smoke effects, flare effects, rain effects, scents, or even holographic effects. For scents , the scents we have are Rose Garden, Brand New Leather, Ocean, Pink Bubblegum and Pina Colada.
