Can you become a zombie if you eat one?

Was playing with the idea of the "state hospital"* being attacked. The staff fleeing to a safe place, and giving the inmates guns when the attack begins. Some of the inmates are nuts enough to eat their prizes if they are fresh enough.

*Hospital for the criminal insane (mass murders, cannibals, spree killers and all of the above that are beyond help)...The kinda people that make the zombie hordes look good.
Warning thar be furries!

Talk to us and normalises things by setting up an embassy

Yes, though probably not as assuredly as if you had been bitten. Stomach acids/lining would provide some limited defence. It's also possible that you might get sick, but not turn.

Eat a zombie. Get infected. Chase my enemies down and bite them before I completely lose myself to the infection. That would be my plan.

From what I can guess, yes.

The virus itself (from what I read around) can probably survive most cooking methods and eating raw zombie is obviously a contaminated mess. If you want a good model, imagine eating a dead cow that has been walking around for days to weeks. We all know some parts are good to eat but as a zombie all of it is contaminated. So really, I would not eat zombie flesh period because tissue and liquids are far-gone contaminated with the virus - not to mention the score of other diseases growing on/in it - and you'd be pretty dumb to try and eat a rotting human being (or crazy).

Edit: Not to mention that becoming a zombie is not like a vampire thing - where you get bitten and you transform. Zombies are made from (generally) a virus that kills people with symptoms similar to the flu. Once the person dies, their corpse is then reanimated after a day or so (I've seen the time change from minutes to hours) and they then perform their zombie habits. What kills a zombie generally is either destroying the brain, cutting it off from the body, or enough internal damage that it kills the body (such as being totally flatten, high-speed vehicle hits, extensive gunfire, vaporization from bombs, etc.). This means a zombie can survive tons of abuse - and - as long as it is still connected to the brain, body parts can move (examples are Walking Dead where walkers cut in half still live or sometimes heads can survive a long time after being cut off). But the rules change a bit depending on the universe the zombie exists.

Studies exacuted by the head priests here in Stolel Idol don't know but we will force someone to figure it out for us. We have been working on a cure. What we can confirm as a fact that biting a zombie does not turn it human.

Our current theory is that since humans must die after a bite. That if a zombie is brought back to life after being bit by a human it will undo the curse. Such theory is currently under testing. We will let you know of the results.
