GROUND NEWS: Covering New ground


Today in a rural town, in the countryside near Ishtar City a truck being escorted by three military vehicles was in a traffic collision. The local police report that there was one fatality, the driver of the pickup truck that hit the tanker. A witness to the scene of the crash told Ground News that the tanker had been punctured and was leaking some kind of gas and that the driver and soldiers that were escorting the truck were already wearing protective clothing and quickly put on gas masks before sealing off the area. When our new team attempted to get close to the area a road block had already been set up and was told to leave by soldiers also wearing protective gear.

The government has declared that one person was exposed without protective gear, the driver of the pickup truck. It is unknown if this death was a result of the crash or exposure to what clearly seems to be some kind of chemical or biological agent. The winds were rather strong during the hours after the crash occurred and how far the gas may have traveled is unclear. The government has said there is nothing to worry about but police from Ishtar city have been see wearing protective gear not just around the crash site but in the city itself and in the surrounding countryside. Local citizens are concerned as to what was in the tanker and if it posses a threat to them. The police claim that they are just taking precautionary measures and merely running drills, something that has been taken with some skepticism. We at ground news will remain ready to provide more information as it becomes available.

A spokesmen for the Ministry of Defense announced today at a packed press conference that the military is placing Baptistan City under martial law until November 1st. This comes just hours after the signing of an executive order by the President that placed the entire nation under a state of emergency. Military personnel were seen erecting barricades around the Capitol Building and other key government buildings in the capital. A city wide curfew from dusk to dawn has been implemented despite mass protest from the city's residents. The ministry of Defense also stated that a no fly zone has been declared across the nation and all civilian and commercial flights have been grounded. The Coast Guard has already closed the Baptistan Navigation Channel and it has been reported that Coast Guard Cutters have been participating in live fire drills outside the Baptistan Port of Commerce. The atmosphere remain tense as both active duty and reserve troops began their patrols of the city. The sudden increase in military preparations brings into doubt the credibility of claims made by Minister of Health, Dr. Abby Bartlett, that the government was going to concentrate it resources on developing a cure. Dr. Bartlett could not be reached for comment. A spokesmen for the Ministry of Defense urged all citizens to remain calm and to stay inside their homes on Halloween and to report any suspect zombie activity to the police or the a nation wide zombie Apocalypse help line.

We stand on the brink of darkness. Today, we face a new and pressing threat to our very existence as a people and a nation. This morning the Ministry of Health has revised the quarantine zone of infected cities on the western seaboard to more than double the original area. As much as 10% of the federation's population is trapped within these zones, and all measures show that this is likely just the tip of the iceberg.
To those of you who are currently listening from within the affected areas, do not despair. You have not been abandoned by your comrades. This temporary retreat is merely an effort to regroup, so that we may face the undead hordes with the full might of the federation. Do whatever you must to stay alive, and know that we are coming for you as soon as humanly possible.
Just a few minutes ago, I directed that the readiness of our domestic military forces be stepped up to the maximum alert status. As of this moment, the armed forces of the federation are prepared to deploy within two minutes notice. Already we have deployed several divisions along the edge of the quarantine zones, and along our sovereign borders. We have also inserted special operations units in strategic areas within the quarantine zones in order to assist any survivors.

Mass Protests Ravage Trefeqia Nationwide

Yasterday night at around 11:00 PM, President Adria Savia Letane announced finally gave out all known information about the disease to the citizens, despite the Trefeqian senate urging her to keep quiet and that it should be kept a secret to prevent public chaos and mass paranoia. She announced that the disease would bring what she described as a "zombie apocalypse" and that the government will try to researcher a cure and will also use military force.

Citizens listened in fear and began to mistrust the government. Many protested against the government, while others tried to flee to safer areas, some tried to leave to a foreign country, but most were caught. Soldiers that where forced to be in the military also rebelled and tried to leave the military, dropping the number of 3,183,829 soldiers (40.56% of the population) to 2,299,851 (28.89% of the population).

The remaining military has been stepping in to stop the violence that are occurring in the protests. The military has been allowed to shoot if completely necessary, many of the shootings by the military are questioned as being just or not.

The civil unrest has caused countless areas throughout Trefeqia to become total anarchy. Some of this areas have government set up by the civilians themselves and some even considered themselves independent, but they're unrecognized by the government.

Unknown Insurgents attempt to fly plane full
of infected into Ammerinian Airspace, Scientists
believe they have found somthing



A wing of F/X-92 Corsairs on their way to intercept the craft.

Rougeport, Ammerinia - Today, at 7:38 AM Local Time, flight 613 of Air Nautica was reportedly hijacked by unknown terrorists. They then released a nerve gas agent into the filtration system and locked themselves inside the automated piloting control room. An emergency transmission was sent to a Military Base in the area, and an entire airwing of Corsairs was scrambled to intercept the craft. Photos from another nearby plane revealed that every passenger on the aircraft was presumably infected. At 7:51 AM, the pursuing Corsairs open fired on the craft. The passenger plane was quickly obliterated and splashed down into the sea. The government has since then locked down the crash site and refused to publicize any further details. The media says it is likely that the Hijackers were members of The Chaos Insurgency.

In other news, scientists have claimed to have found an agent that will slow and possibly neutralize the spread of the Zed Virus through the body. This agent has been named "AZI-1555", and will be supplied to the public by tomorrow morning. The Government is also considering putting this drug up for purchase in case any other fellow nations need it.

Zombies sighted from the east!

Earlier this morning, a pair of long-distance hikers came back in a panic, reporting a "zombie horde" shambling towards the nation of Firewind. It is suspected that they originated from the eastern lands, but so far nobody has anything conclusive on the origins of these "walking dead".

Though the government has dismissed claims of undead moving towards our nation, sources which will remain anonymous have seen military mobilization, as well as many new "border guards" who adorn a very different patch, shown below.

With all this, we have no reason to believe that the zombies are not coming, and citizens have had mixed feelings. Many have continued on as normal, confident that the military will protect them, but a few have stocked up on guns and ammunition, as well as barricading their homes in case the military fails to halt the zombie advance.

More news will be released as the story develops.

GROUND NEWS: Covering New ground


After a day of speculation as to what was in the tanker truck that was hit outside of Ishtar city, new information has come out about what was in the tanker. The government has officially released a statement claiming that the truck was carrying a bioweapon of some kind when the tanker carrying it was involved in a collision. This has resulted in the unwanted release of the bioweapon into the wild, being carried by the wind from the crash site to locations unknown. At this point in time it is not believed to have spread beyond the area immediately surrounding Ishtar city, however precautionary measures are being taken. The people of the city have been seen trying to leave but many have simply been turned around, the few roads that are open that exit the city have lines that are moving at a relatively slow pace, we will see if this becomes an issue in the morning.




The Empress has declared a state of emergency and is declaring martial law in Ishtar city and the surrounding countryside. All reserve personnel are to report to their barracks immediately for medical evaluation and deployment, all surrounding districts are to mobilize the reserve and to be on standby for deployment. All citizens should expect curfews, travel restrictions to affected areas and an expansion of martial law to other areas as seen fit. Anyone who is not feeling well and has the following symptoms: fever, coughing and twitching should go to the nearest hospital or call 911. Coming up next: Is the government doing enough? Is the declaration of martial law an overreaction?
