Have you even read the Zombie Survival Guide? It quite clearly makes note of the fact that humans are the only creatures that revive thanks to the virus. The rest of the animal kingdom just kinda keels over and dies permanently if they get infected with the virus. So ponies would not be able to spread the plague; infection would merely lead to permanent death.
