"Untrained? Speak for yourself." Kegan said as he spun around in his chair a few times before pointing his sword at Thomas. "I've done MMA and have a pretty good record. I've also practiced some swordsmanship in my spare time. I'm not a master or anything, but I think I can handle myself." He gave a big grin to Thomas before he hopped over the chair, landing on his feet. He then walked a few steps forward and spun around in a circle on one foot before coming to a stop by Renee and putting an arm on her shoulder. "The best training is done in combat."

Thomas glared at the other boy, just barely managing to hold back the rage bubbling underneath. "I'm a trained and champion fencer, specialising in sabre and foil." His fist now firmly clenched, his mouth turning into a snarl, "and I hardly feel like your MMA experience is going to help when up against whatever manner of monstrosity we have to go up against" spittle flying from the side of his mouth, "so when I say that we are untrained then we are very much untrained"
Turning to Renee, he nodded and replied, "I see you understand perfectly" ending with a smile.

Kegan gave a laugh as he stepped away from Renee. "No, you're absolutely right. You should know your enemy and your weapon. However, you should also get used to killing and stop seeing it as killing. I think it's more like pest control. Am I right boss man?" Kegan said, directing the last part towards, obviously, the new boss of this rag tag team of soul reapers. "Most importantly, what enemies should we avoid? I don't want to go after some high level monster right from the get-go."

He looked over to Thomas for a moment before his grin turned to a frown. "You want to do a little combat training then?" Kegan said with a calm, cold sounding voice.

Cold, calculating, focused. Measured. Thomas replied in most threatening yet understated way he could manage, locking eyes with the other. "You wouldn't be worth the effort." Turning his head to focus on other, matters.

Kegan let out a hysterical laugh that went on for a few moments. "Oh you think so? I'd snap that little stick that you use for fencing in half. Or would you prefer to fight in my specialty since you think you're so good?" Kegan said as he cracked his knuckles. "You really piss me off you know that."

Renee Reyer

Renee looked around nervously at her new coworkers. These people were crazy nutburgers, and they apparently knew some form of swordfighting. The few sensible people here, which included her, for the most part were not endowed with awesome fighting skills. The Italian chef, her boss, and the ditzy blonde lady were crazy. Sigmund was a meanie. The ice queen was creepy. Sadly, Renee herself was the only one left with some sanity in her. "Can we at least pretend we're sane people and maybe sort things out?" She attempted to do an appeal that might work on Kegan, but most likely not. Because he seems like a stubborn, weird, fight-raising git. "We can't fight demons or reap souls or whatever if we're fighting each other, and not the enemy. Plus, we all look stupid when doing this, so let's look slightly less stupid by not having duels for honor and shit. Work together, love each other, blah blah blah."

Kegan let out a hysterical laugh that went on for a few moments. "Oh you think so? I'd snap that little stick that you use for fencing in half. Or would you prefer to fight in my specialty since you think you're so good?" Kegan said as he cracked his knuckles. "You really piss me off you know that."

Thomas summons his sabre and in a quick motion points it inches away from the others neck. "And you really insult every single sensibility I maintain." He stood there for seconds, focusing before lowering his blade, and then pointing it towards the door. "You, me outside. Blades only. This blood enhances our healing so don't" he emphasises this, "don't hold back, but try not to kill me because I'll be doing my best not to repeat the-" he trails off, before shaking his head.
Hearing Renee, he turns, focusing sharply. In a stern tone, he quickly retorts, "No."
Returning his gaze to the black haired boy, his name he was yet to catch, he lays down the challenge. "You game?"

Kegan let out another sadietic laugh that would make any demon envious. "You got yourself a match. Don't regret it." He said as he walked towards the door. When he opened it he motioned for Thomas to follow. He would enter the middle of the Street. He pulled out his sheath from his side and raised his sword in his right hand with an overhand grip. He would stand firm leaning forward positioning his sheath in his left hand with an underhand grip. "My name is Kegan Kruvok." He said as he watched Thomas come outside.

Kegan let out another sadietic laugh that would make any demon envious. "You got yourself a match. Don't regret it." He said as he walked towards the door. When he opened it he motioned for Thomas to follow. He would enter the middle of the Street. He pulled out his sheath from his side and raised his sword in his right hand with an overhand grip. Thomas followed and stood opposite to Kegan, about two meters away. "My name is Thomas Jacob Cain." He assumes the en garde position, his blade outstretched before him, focusing quickly to have the name 'Amarantha' display itself on the hilt of the sabre. "Prepare to lose"

He swung his sword at Thomas from above to move his sword out of the way he then stabbed his sheath towards Thomas' face, aiming to hit him square in the nose.

A huge grin came across Kegans face. "Ready? Don't....blink." Kegan said before taking off in a all out dash, quickly closing the distance between them. He swung his sword at Thomas from above to move his sword out of the way he then stabbed his sheath towards Thomas' face, aiming to hit him square in the nose.

Thomas raises his sabre to parry, somewhere between a Quinte and Sixte, the swing from the top, resulting in a satisfying clash of metal, followed by a twist to separate the blades. Quickly, after just noticing the sheath rushing towards him, Thomas ducks, it catching the top of his head in a painful slam.
"I thought this was going to be a gentlemanly event" he goads, jumping backwards to remove himself from an immediate follow up strike, "afraid you can't win fairly?" He asks with a sly snarl.

Kegan backed up for a moment to judge Thomas' defense. "I see no issue in using the sword style that I trained in. I make full use of all parts of my weapon. It would be a waste not to." Kegan said as he readied for his next attack. He flipped his sheath over to an overhand grip with the entry facing towards Thomas.

He rushed forward towards Thomas with his sword crossing in front of his body. He aimed to slam Thomas' sword tip into the sheath as he thrust it forward. At the same moment he swung his sword across.

Judging Kegan's body language and attack style in the crucial seconds Thomas was allowed gave him a brief yet important piece of information: He had no idea what he was going to do next. Like every great fencer stuck in this situation, blade held horizontal in the mid-section of his body, and ran backwards.

Kegan pressed the attack, remaining weary of the situation. He raised his sheath across his torso and began to stab towards Thomas with his sword. He aimed to attack the arms by stabbing with the dull edge of the blade so that the hooks that lined the side would rip away flesh as he pulled his sword back. After only a few stabs, he jumped back so that he didn't get too far ahead of himself. He readied his defense before he could check to see if any of the stabs hit their mark.

Kegan pressed the attack, remaining weary of the situation. He raised his sheath across his torso and began to stab towards Thomas with his sword. He aimed to attack the arms by stabbing with the dull edge of the blade so that the hooks that lined the side would rip away flesh as he pulled his sword back. Thomas cursed loudly as the first stabbing hooks caught his side, before wising up after to avoid the next two. Watching Kegan jump back, he launched a fast approach followed by a lunge, feinting an attack to the left before switching to slash from the right, aiming just below his ribs.

Kegan recognized the sword coming towards his side at the last moment. He was able to block it, but not fully. He now had a shallow cut, compared to what it would have been, just below the ribs. Kegan hit Thomas' sword out from his body and stabbed his sword forward towards Thomas' chest before jumping away. "You're pretty good, going for the soft spots to avoid bone." Kegan said with a painful laugh. "It's time to get serious." Kegan said as he entered a different stance than before. He partially crouched down, putting his right foot forward, making him a smaller target as his chest was turned to the side. He held is sword close with it stretching over his left shoulder near his head. Kegan rushed forward once again, closing the distance as fast as he could. He aimed to stop right next to him and swing his sword diagonally across Thomas' torso.

Kegan recognized the sword coming towards his side at the last moment. He was able to block it, but not fully. He now had a shallow cut, compared to what it would have been, just below the ribs. Thomas smiled at the sight of blood being drawn, appreciating the compliment given, yet remaining silent. He batted away the thrusted sword with elegant ease before watching Kegan jump back.
Thomas waited as long as possible before, barely, dodging out of the way, watching the diagonal slash of Kegan's blade fataly attack thin air. "Fuck" he exclaimed breathlessly, before bringing the spine of his sabre forcefully down at the area below the back of his head.

Kegan reacted quickly to missing by following through with the motion of his blade and lifting off the ground with a gentle jump. The clash of metal ringed through the air as Kegans swing met Thomas'. He quickly planted his feet on the ground and used his weight to press Thomas' sword down. He would give Thomas a slight grin before kicking his leg up towards Thomas' head.

"Oh boy, I am enjoying this to no end" before rushing back towards him, sword blade held over his left shoulder to aid the eventual slash

The swords clashed, oh yes they clashed, a glorious sound of sonorous metal rang out across the alleyway. Learning from the last time, Thomas expected the sheath to rush towards him in a stabbing motion, which it did. He reached out to grab it, closing his fist around it.
He locked eyes with Kegan, and smiled. "I have to say, you're better than expected" before launching a cheap shot at Kegan's gut with his knee.

Thomas recoiled backwards as the blow to the head bloodied his nose, broken? Probably.
He shrugged it off, rage in his eyes, holding the blade pointed out towards him.
"Not again Yriel" he screamed, "Not again!" Rushing at Kegan with ferocity

Thomas ran at Kegan, throwing his arm to swing his blade towards him in a wild and unfocused action with a cry. Something changed. Something turned a switch in his mind. He's gone, now only a beast remains.
