Nation Name: Excidium Planetis
Lore: During the early years of the 24th Century, colony ships from Terran systems settled a small cluster of star systems and formed a prosperous, though self contained, settlement. In the next century, however, it was discovered that a nearby star was soon to go supernova. This would doubtlessly wipe out life on the colonized planets. With such an impending catastrophe, drastic actions needed to be taken.
After a concerted, but rocky, effort, the majority of the populace fled to the stars in a fleet not designed for lasting time in space. Their worlds were destroyed, and the fleet they now inhabited soon began to fall apart in the harsh conditions of extrasolar space. Over the decades, the fleet slowly fell apart and millions died.
At last, a coalition of operational ships formed a new government: Excidium Planetis. This new government ruled over its fleet in a loose manner, encouraging piracy and salvaging, in order to maintain a unified and operating fleet amid the waste drifting through space. In time, this anarchic fleet became a nomadic civilization in its own right, moving from system to system salvaging what it needed to continue survival. Only in recent years has the government decided that a change of course is necessary: Excidium Planetis can never prosper through the "old ways". Lasting connections must be made with foreign powers, trade must occur, settlement must happen. Only these will lead to long term survival.
Size: Citizen population is roughly 2 Billion, with mandatory military service ensuring a constant military size of roughly 100 million personnel. The populace is mostly spread across several Fleets that total about 2 million ships ranging from single-man yachts to 5 kilometer long flagships.
Very little territory is held by Excidium Planetis. The only land rightfully held is the planet Olber III, though the Olber system itself is still the territory of a foreign power. Very few colonists live on the planet itself. Additionally, some territory is held on the planet Chri-irah, though within the territory of several nations on that planet.
The largest holding is Homeship Reckoner, a massive ship that houses several hundred million people. Reckoner's location is kept well hidden to prevent attack, and will likely never be seen by foreigners that contact Excidium Planetis. Some even claim that Reckoner is actually a myth, but we know better.
Military Base: Starships make up the bulk of the fleet, with Cruisers being the workhorse of the fleet. Ground forces are lacking, consisting mostly of infantry and vehicles needed to transport them. While armor exists, tanks are not really the strong suit of the Excidian military.
Military Branches: The military is dominated by the Excidian Navy, with the Excidian Guard, the branch focused on ground combat, being a minor branch almost subservient to the Navy.
Excidian Marines may be mentioned. These are not their own branch at all, Marines are simply a special unit of the Excidian Navy, stationed on naval warships to prevent boarding or engage in it themselves.
Other Stuff: Most Excidians are Terran humans. However, a sizeable population of Birrin, a hexapod warm-blooded insectoid race, exists. Additionally, a bird-like species known as Takt'leks exist, and some ships feature hired chefs and doctors of an odd, anthropomorphic ferret species.

Energy weapons is pretty vague. Bolt casters? Plasma cannons? Lasers? Railguns?
They use... Plasma weapons if my knowledge of halo is correct.

Name: The Gang
Theme song: Encaptures everything you need to know about this faction. A must listen.
Leader: Rot
Faction Size: 1 bored guy and 1 bored girl
Tech Level: Well, they have a single spaceship that only has two seats, no weapon attachments and no way of using those fancy advanced space travel methods like hyperlanes or jump drives, so pretty poor by any possible measurement. Really, they don't even need the tech - they fight with their natural powers and they visit an alien world if they need anything in particular to buy it.
Background: Just chillin'. Planet Varhon, the homeworld of Rot and Chi, was wiped out and glassed by a giant meteor while the two were on a trip to a nearby solar system, and without a home and anyone to come back to, they were basically left as wanderers, as nomads. And that's what they do. Travel across the Universe without a purpose and interact with people. Sometimes they get embroiled in a foreign war. Sometimes they have to help tender a space chicken farm. So yeah, space nomads. It's Always Sunny In Varhon.
Name/Alias: Rot
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Species: Varhonian
Appearance: here
Backstory: Before the destruction of Planet Varhon a few years ago, Rot was an accomplished ship engineer and pilot - he studied in the Planetary Academy of Applied Sciences with a high grade and soon joined the War Fleet of Varhon as an engineer. Since his homeworld was a fairly distant one far from most of the action (not that anyone would want to visit a planet full of sentient monkeys, anyway), he didn't get to put these skills to the test. On the fated day, Rot was sent on a scouting mission to a nearby solar system - unbeknownst to him, a local student named Chi had snuck into his ship by pure accident, and by the time he found out, they were the last surviving Varhonians in the Universe.
Rot and Chi became companions on their long mission in search of nothing at all. So yeah.
Powers and Abilities: Varhonian Physiology - The inhabitants of Planet Varhon, while not the sharpest tools in the shed and not all that into technology, are considered to be in to high tiers of physical strength among the many races in the Universe. Most members of their species are easily capable of outrunning bullets, lifting cars or small vessels and taking far more physical punishment than any ordinary human could possibly withstand.
Aura - An another natural Varhonian ability. According to them, it's the control of the thin veil of energy surrounding one's body applied for a myriad of effects. According to scientists, it's a blanket term for a light version of various fundamental force manipulation and other physics babble... Whatever is the case, the Varhonians can use their aura for dozens of effects. There are seven types or "colors" of aura, each one with different effects and uses (check link for description), and an aura user can only use one at a time. Through intense meditation and focus, the color can be changed, but it's usually not effective during battle. Rot prefers the yellow (Manipura) aura, which deals with energy and willpower - it is used for energy attacks and other applications of aura energy, like creating temporary aura clones or enhancing one's combat.
Weaknesses: Aura takes a lot of time to change type/color and can only be used one color at a time. And, no matter what, the Varhonians are not invincible despite their strength - they can still be killed and maimed, and can be overpowered by sheer manpower.
Standard Equipment: Not much besides his pants
Intelligence: Very well educated and a prodigy ship engineer, mechanic as well as pilot, but is quite detached from reality and lacks basic street smarts.
Optional stuff.
Theme song: Same theme as for his faction
Random Facts about your character:
Name/Alias: Chi
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Species: Varhonian
Appearance: here
Backstory: Before the destruction of Planet Varhon, Chi was a dropout from the Planetary History Academy. While her parents were pushing for her to become a great scholar for most of her life, being well educated themselves, the girl never caught on to it, much to the disappointment of the rest of her family. After failing to pass an important exam numerous times, Chi finally gave up, left the Academy and moved to live in the streets, in the lowest ranks of society. It was sure a humbling experience for someone like her who came from a wealthy family, but the world turned out to be much more violent and unforgiving than she anticipated. On the fated day, Chi was running from a gang that she owed a big monetary debt to, and in order to escape she wandered off to a military base, hiding in the cargo of the first ship in her vicinity. It turned out to be the vessel operated by a local ship engineer named Rot, and by the time she discovered that, they were the last Varhonians left in the Universe.
Chi and Rot became companions on a long trip for nothing in particular. So yeah.

by New Neros » Sun Aug 28, 2016 12:15 pm
Born as the heir of Canaan Industries, Nile was groomed and educated to takeover the lucrative mining operations his father and forefathers built and maintained for years since the Terran Uplift. Sadly, there was not much to improve on or advance in the way of asteroid or planet mining that would be absolutely groundbreaking, and Nile's passion was in the resiliency of the human body. Meeting with workers and learning their first hand experiences in adapting to the harsh climate and dangerous job before that strengthened his passion and curiosity.
Taking loans from his father, Nile began to construct research labs and conduct exploratory missions to far-flung human colonies, intending to gather data from the adaptive nature of the human body. Prying into the DNA and making edits to the genome, Nile began a biological revolution heralded by Canaan Industries, to the point that his research division was pulling in more money than the mining and shipbuilding operations - the gene editing becoming both a fashion craze and a biological next-step. On the eve of his fathers' death, Nile was hard at work trying to stall the old man's demise, but his body just gave out, living to the ripe old age of one hundred and fifteen Terran Years. That failure pushed Nile to develop and synthesize a means of cellular immortality, creating immortal plants, animals, and finally, humans.
Nile was no saint and the immortality treatment was nothing short of cripplingly expensive for anyone except the ultra-rich. After a few successful sales, Nile discontinued the treatment in order to further research and cheapen the procedure - to the point that even laborers could afford to become immortal. Around this time, Nile began Narcissus - An agency of Canaan Industries to perfect cheap, affordable cloning in secret. The enterprise was controversial when it's successes were realized, as cheap human and robot labor were suddenly undercut by cheap, mass-produced humanoid clones. A series of laws came into effect at the behest of several labor unions, AI firms, and robotic industrialists to limit the cloning process.
Rather than abide by the laws, Nile broke apart Canaan Industries and took his equipment, along with several colony ships, to a far, unclaimed and lawless corner of the Milky Way Galaxy. He was not seen for fifty-odd years until trade networks were established in the region - revealing to the galaxy that Nile Canaan had created an impressive interstellar empire built on the back of cloning, shipbuilding, organic manipulation, and raw resource acquisition - using designs and materials from the now defunct Canaan Industries to bolster Narcissus. Based on a habitable world arrogantly named Olympus by Nile, the clone collective is known as the Canaanites and the planets and worlds they inhabit are known as the Narcissines. Nile himself calls the regions he lords over the Olympian Empire.

The dominion formed under Nile Canaan following his self-exile from the Terran realms, the mixture of scientists, workers, and technology prospered in isolation from the rest of humankind as Nile gained political authority across an uncharted region of space in the Inner Core. Starting from a human-habitable world known as Olympus, the Narcissus Corporation spread across twelve systems known as the Narcissines, installing Dyson Spheres to collect stellar energy and beginning extensive mining operations across several resource belts and desolate planets, all fueling the immense clone farms on Olympus.
Rapid expansion warranted more clones, of Nile and of many of his subordinates, taking their best traits and amplifying them greatly in order to snowball the progress they were seeing. Forming clone labs on the initial twelve systems population hubs, an interstellar empire was born in under fifty Terran Years under Nile Canaan direction, eventually moving out of the Narcissus umbrella and fully embracing political power and domination as an Emperor, calling his entity the Olympian Empire, his population calling themselves "Olympian Human" in contrast to Terran Human, but remaining a distinct political entity from the rest of humanity. Civilians and vote-eligible clones express their political power withing the Starways Congress, a legislative body subservient to the Olympian Emperor and representing the Twelve Narcissine Systems, and marginally representing the Colonies.

Name: The Fisnik Clan
Leader: Director Mesi & Council of Elders
Faction Size: 1 Billion Autoktons citizens
- Military encompases 1 million members
Ruaj Military
- Robotic Defense Initiative (RDI)
This sect of the Ruaj is comprised of technicians and robotic life, they run similar to humans use of batteries and thus can be combustible. A result of this is their final directive to charge the enemy once nearing over 90% damage retention. While their prime directive is to detain rather than kill, making them a wild card in actual battles but essential in more basic security measures that don't involve large battlefields or the like
- 500,000 Units
- Seen Here- Orbital Stations
These stations while classified under the Ruaj are the primary fuel and resource stations for ships and containment of foreign life. The orbital stations remain in orbit of the planet currently being researched and do not move unless given the directive to by the I urtë.
- 2 Active- Capital Ships & Fighters
Ships are primarily used for transport and grant military prowess but are maintained by the RDI
Tech Level: Advanced technology is primarily used for medicine and research on their citadels, while peaceful they do have technology that could be far more heavily weaponized in the hands of another race or populace.
Background: Under the elders and director Mesi, the Fisnik Clan has thrived in their efforts. While primarily focusing on production of medical equipment and other drugs, they serve as a research vessel, wanting to find and extract non fully sentient species for their own. These projects take decades some times to complete due to careful manipulation of soil, feeding sources, and other variables to protect these lives. The Fisnik have never fully come in contact with humans, but both parties are no doubt aware of the others existence due to relative proximity. The clan has been desperately wanting to study the human race, it's storied history and own non-sentients but has yet to make this effort due to conflicting council views.
The government of the clan is an old system that has been unaffected by in fighting or wars. The Council of Elders comprises 7 members, the Director technically serving as one, and the others being members with a past in command of the population, military, or other scientific disciplines recognized by the clan. Over all of these members serves the aforementioned director, often serving for life, this position is responsible for delivery of council decisions and negotiations with foreign beings. The Director is traditionally a male but no laws recognize this, it has merely been precedent for the past hundred years or more.
Race name: Autokton
Race standard/average appearance:
Autokton are genetically modified from the ancestor race of Lokal.
Average height - 6 feet / 182.88 cm
Cybernetic enhancements are common after ten years
Appearance Here
Race Specific abilities: Autokton possess higher intellect than most races, but lack physical capabilities causing them to become weak in what humans consider middle age. This makes it necessary for Autokton to use cybernetic implants and enhancements that render them more robotic like.
Homeworld name: Shtëpi
Lore:
History
Thousands of years ago the Lokal inhabited the wild and ravaged planet of shtëpi, known for its dangerous lifeforms and even more ravenous were the native populace. The natives first worked with the Lokal and sheltered them, aiding them in every way. It was not long before these people began to integrate, becoming one species known as the Kton. Over years of development, both societal and innovative the kton formed the Grand Council. These group of three members elected every year ruled over the kton for years, pushing the innovation and rewarding the smartest and most inventive of members of the population. This rule pushed down on others, rewarding solely on merit but ultimately made for a better society. Fast forward hundreds of more years of the Grand Council and great minds at the top the Kton had to address an issue bigger than any of them; health. The Kton species were a weak one naturally, needing to improve, though they had been able to prolong life through medicine, it became too pricey and time consuming to mass produce a single life saving drug. Though un-ailed by corporations to sway price and distribution it became a campaign to "Automate" the race, to improve it beyond natural capabilities. The Grand Council was firmly against this, believing the natural gifts of the race should not be tampered with by any means. The growing opposition formed a group known as Fisnik Renewers, a group who believed in the grand heritage of their race but wanted this medical advancement to be the focal point of the government. The Grand Council vehemently disavowed the groups legitimacy but the public was growing closer and closer to their sentiments putting the council in an odd position of being anti-life yet pro-choice. In the annual election of The Grand Council, Fisnik members swept the boards and with nearly 80% public support reformed the government in major ways. The Council was dissolved in power and lengthened in term while a lifelong leader was created known as the Director who was often a former council member.
The new nation was the Fisnik Clan, promoting life and one another. Time and resources were devoted to the Life Project, a program that created everything from suits of armor to the new army of robotic soldiers that still protect the nation. The program was a success and one so transformative over the years it ran that in decades since the race became more than Kton, but Autokton. Now the race is engaged in Life 2.0, a program that is searching for other life forms to better and advance but is focusing primarily on the non-sentient as they are easier to negotiate and never lie.
Practices & Culture
Autokton don't have a shared history of religions and thus celebrate milestones in their national history, and thus hold festivals and holidays like many species. Overall they have lives similar to humans, loving food and entertainment but differ in their strong love of technological advancement regardless of comfort or resources. This goes so far as to even put things like miitary on the backburner should it mean higher qualities of life and education.
- Grand Day -
Celebrated every year, this celebrates the achievements of the former ruling Grand Council. Statues on the home planet commemorate the first founders and is where the festival is held annually.
