Though equipment and formal training is limited for the mostly militia type army the enthusiasm for combat and superb horsemanship of the Variags has made them feared on the steppes of Rhûn.
History of Nation: The Variags are a nomadic people which roamed the steppes east of Lake Rhûn in the first and early second age as horsemen. They never ventured west and took no part in the great wars of Beleriand, but they where enemies of orcs and goblins dwelling west of the Ered Luin and often fought them.

In the early years of the second age the Variag tribes slowly became an integrated group, a process that culminated in the election of the first Qhâdriag, Ilikh Qhâdriag. Ilikh's rule was short and so was that of his brother Tenger, so it was his son Ûvatha I Qhâdriag who was left to consolidate the tribal confederacy in the lands southeast of Lake Rhûn. He and his successors warred often with other related tribal nomad groups. In recent years the Variags has been steadily migrating west, as if fleeing something, and has now reached to the mountains surrounding the plateau of Gorgoroth with little further to go.

Nah, we have incompatible views of what the Variags should be. My application assumes they are a nomad tribal people who would only settle in Khand after coming under Sauron/Mordor's influence, whereas your application have Khand exist as a country already.

I think I will just go with a Haradrim nation.
