I've only got a 37 mm cannon, and only about half an inch of frontal armor. Admittedly, my tank can go quicker than any other tank, especially when it has the tracks removed, but it's still not got particularly good weapons, nor is it particularly large.

Is it 100% necessary we create characters for each role of the tank?

Excellent.

Okay then, I'm going to push a bit. With the whole prototypes ordeal putting it in a grey area...what about the French Sau 40?

If it was designed prior to August of 1945, it's acceptable with some paperwork. If a full metal prototype was built, yes, it is.

@Rust: At the very least, two people can run a tank on their own. Efficiency is another question.

Now while it is pretty big for a tank called a light tank by people who can't appreciate Japanese armor, the QF 6-pounder is rather subpar against anything from mid-to-late war.

Besides, your tankette will make a great passive scout.

does T-54 count as valid under the rules?

it entered production in 1947, but the first prototypes were ready by May '45

As valid as the Centurion used in the film. in other words, yes you can use it.

There was a prototypical L3 with a 37mm gun but I'm quite sure it wasn't the armament you're thinking of.

Wait, misread your comment.

As far as I know, there was a single Sau 4o prototype, while some other bodies had been cast, and engines were being made for them. That would count, I guess, but if not, no worries.

Hmm...Semovente, Sau 40, Renault 35, or Chi-Ha...

Valid, yes. Just the T-54-1 (slightly modified T-44 with bigger dakka prototype) however, not the later models.

But I wonder if it would be alright considering we're a new tankery club without much funding... Even if Soviet vehicles are super cheap.

A TOG II is probs pretty cheap, since no one wants to buy them.

soviet tanks are really super cheap (a T-55 costs like 35,000€ IRL) and plentiful in terms of spare parts

the biggest problem is the way it absolutely guzzles fuel (540L capacity, range of 100-200 kilometers, according to wikipedia), I believe

Reproduction exists Rust.

But yes, I doubt many companies would want to produce more Hottogs

Because buying a Firefly is much more worth it.

@Mef: It would get knocked out from a single hit to almost any part of it, so that kind of makes it even worse.

In GuP, people buy things like the Maus and a fucking Karl-Mörser if the adults are asshole-ish enough to betray their own rules.

If tankery is anywhere near as popular as it is implied to be, there is probably a huge market where people produce viable remakes of wartime vehicles that are suitable for that sport.

The TOG has 76mm of front and side armour on the hull, and 114mm of frontal turret armour. And unless they, like, stowed every bit of it full with 17pdr ammo (which they may very well have done because everyone in WW2 stowed their ammo where it was likely to be hit), it should be spacious enough that the crew might not even get a scratch from a penetrating hit.

You forget that most of the guys here have guns that wouldn't even penetrate a Matilda II frontally, also why are we concerned about if an AFV gets knocked out in one hit in a roleplay? Have I accidentally ended up in II?
TOG II only gets a bad rep because it's got tiered with ppl that have no issues with penetrating 3-4.5" of armour in World of Tanks. Here, not everybody will drive E-100's and lolrtillery. :V
Objectively it's a slow as fuck bunker and we know what University Team used those for.
