One paragraph history of your nation: In the excited frenzy of a civil war, Representative Garestaer gathered a group of angry Navy SEALS and slaughtered the Democrats of Alaska before breaking Alaska from the Union and declaring his home state a nation. Despite only a few weeks of being a nation, Garestaer amassed a small army of young Alaskan hunters to train them to be soldiers under the Navy SEALS. All American army, navy, and air force bases, vessels, and soldiers are under Garestaer's control, giving the representative a large advantage considering the amount of bases residing in the frozen peninsula.

One paragraph history of your character: Jay Garestaer, the son of two Germans who escaped Nazi Germany, was a representative of Alaska in Congress. His Far-Right, near-extreme views have won him support among the Silent Majority, and he protests boots on the ground against Syrian President Assad. One of his most notable moments was nearly getting into a fistfight with a Democrat over Muammar Gaddafi's murder in 2011. He attempted to run for president of the United States in 2016, and dropped out when his numbers weren't high enough. Garestaer was going to be Senator Brandon Kiser's VP, but saw a chance to get everything he wanted when civil war broke out, and he used Navy SEALS to take over Alaska.

Right. Cause the entire US military is going to go freeze its ass off in Alaska when other MILITARY officers, such as Samuel Allen, are ordering them elsewhere. Not to mention that Seal Teams 1, 3, 5, and 7 are based in Coronado, CALIFORNIA. 2, 4, DEVGRU, 8, and 10 are in Virginia, while DVT 1 is in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Little Creek, Virginia; and San Diego, California. No Seal Teams are in Alaska nor would any go there. Most of the military will belong to Hawaii, California, Stull, the East Coast nations, and the Gulf Coast Nations. Practically nothing besides the Alaska National Guard will belong to Alaska. Not that they can really support anything more than that to begin with.

If nothing else, just leave the possibility of re-opening it around-it has lasted a good long while, lot of effort, and this enthusiasm may kindle more for it, especially once interest here wanes.

Exactly that. You could say that most of the soldiers thought the President was destroying the Constitution, but, given that treason is detailed in the Constitution, Stull was breaking it explicitly and undeniably.
