It was the dead of night, and a cold wind brought chills up my spine. There was a clear sky, with a bright near-full moon and stars shining out. We seemed to be in some regular old field, but I did notice some odd prices of metal. I couldn't tell what they were. I turned back from the window to answer the Russian man's question. I stared him down and scouted my brain for any memories, but my head was still so empty. I frowned.

"I-I'm sorry, I don't remember anything about you. Uh, outside seems clear. There's some weird bits of metal that look worth checking out. No snipers." I feigned a smile.

Kyle nods and finally left the dead body alone. He looked at Callum and walked over to him. you don't mind me coming outside with you, do you? He signed as he walked over to it. While most might find signing and walking at the same time confusing, he did it with ease. It was nice to at least remember that much, really. Don't worry about any possible snipers. I have something that one let me be seen. He smiled at this small bit of information he had. He knew he had something special, something only he could do, and it would be fun to try it out again. Yes, there was a possibility that a sniper could still see him, but he could probably avoid a bullet if he had to, so it was no problem.

James cautiously touched his number again. Suddenly, his vision faded, and he saw a memory of a sea of Children's faces. His body convulsed, and he snapped out of the memory. Breathing heavily, he looked around the car. nobody noticed. Whew.
He flipped out the lighter again and stared at the enamel polish. Was it really from his mother? Who was she?
Why did i remember faces? Who gave me this? Was it really my mom's? Who am I?

"No snipers? Ah. Good. Good..." Peter sighed, and took a seat on one of the chairs. He sighed. "Shot... Shot... Shooting. Reminds of.... Reminds me of the time I got shot through the back of the knee. That was awful." Wait... He had been shot before? Why, though? He couldn't remember any details of it... He just remembered that it had happened. Strange that he would suddenly remember it now...

"So... I heard someone mention a... 'Compound', earlier? Where's that? Is it close? Maybe we could go there, get help."

"Glad to hear there are no snipers. The compound...I don't know what it is or where. It's just the only other thing I remember. There's a compound, and the train was heading towards it." George paused for a minute, a look of uncertainty flashing across his dusky face. "Or...or maybe away." He sighed and stared into the night sky. "Even with the moon I can't remember. What a shame..."
"Quite frankly, I don't even know if the compound is safe. It could be someone from there that shot Nineteen. I don't know her name, but that's her number, at least. Seems unlikely that it was one of them, though, since she had a note saying they needed her. Unless, of course, the note was from a different group...I just don't know."

Nieman awoke to find his world upside down, literally. He lay crumpled in a corner of the train, his face pressed tight against the floor. Blood was crusted sticky from one ear all the way to his jaw. Shards of glass were on the floor. A long scrape of cut flesh sizzled with pain. He uncurled from his position to find the train a ruin. A woman lay beside him, eyes dulled by death. Blood was pooled on the ground, and murky ripples emanated rhythmically as drops of the thick red substance hit the pool. A few other men seemed hurt, some with bloodshot eyes, others with large bruises. A few seemed relatively unharmed. Perhaps they could get help. Nieman groaned. I'm alive... help He tried to get up, but only squirmed a bit. Rest for now.

Charles, once in the streetcar, noticed the other ones who had been called down. One was a man, and one was a woman. He looked at the man in interest, as he felt bumps on his arm, looked at it, and saw numbers. He seemed to go into some sort of trance before coming back into the world. Charles looked on his arm, and indeed there were numbers on it, too. 3... 2... 0... 7. He looked on his arm for something else. Maybe this would trigger some kind of memory about who he was. Maybe he would go into a trance like that man.

I listened quietly to the others, nodding slowly as they eached voiced their opinions. I quickly signed back to Kyle.

No Problem.

As I moved to leave, signing for Kyle to follow, I was stopped by a pained groan. In the corner was another man. I didn't know his name but he looked to be in pain.
"Shit, somebody, just, uh, take care of that guy. Me and Kyle are going out, maybe we can find a road or something. Plus, I want to check out those bits of metal." I spoke, wrenching open one of the doors manually. I quickly signed to Kyle.

Go to behind me always. Trust me, I will safe no matter what.

With a heavy grunt, I tore open the metal door. It scraped out on it's hinges, sending shivers down my spine. I jumped out and quickly took in my surroundings. It was a cool night, but not particularly cold, and the bright night sky meant it was reasonably easy to see me way around. I checked to make sure Kyle was behind me and glanced about, making for the metal pieces.

Kyle nods, giving Callum a thumbs up before exiting out of the train. If the man he was following would look back at him, he would notice that his body was getting darker, looking like it was made of shadows. His skin, clothes, and hair turned as black as darkness and after this happened, he seemed to just become invisible. What had really happened was that Kyle had turned into a shadowy substance, and afterwards he had basically dispersed, pieces of this shadowy substance going towards real, actual shadows and anything that proved to be reasonably dark. This was how he would sneak around, and how he'd avoid any type of sniper. Yeah, he might surprise Callum by doing this, but he didn't care if it kept him safe

Zaragoza looked over at the cause of the groan: a slumped pile of flesh and bone that was rapped in some tattered mat of clothes. He checked the man's neck for a pulse; a small beat greeted his two forefingers, which brought a slight shiny sheen to his eyes. "Thank god." He said under his breath before expelling a ball of white light from his palm to shine some clarity on the situation.

"His head is cut badly, and he may have more injuries elsewhere." Zaragoza stated, pulling back the man's hair to show the gash in his skull. He ripped another section of his flannel- the shirt now consisting of merely the sleeves, upper back, and collar- and tried to dress the wound in the revealing light of his ability.

"Wait a second... how did I know I could do that? Can everyone do that?" He asked, looking around at the others for answers. "Can you all make the light?"

Kyle had looked around, being in the shadows still, and noticed some tracks on the ground, leading away from the scrapped metal. The metal itself was a contraption of some sort, though it was very broken and he couldn't really tell what it was supposed to be. There was a body and two legs for this odd contraption, and then there was a huge piece of crushed metal, Kyle having no idea what that was or could have once been. The shadowy substance had formed back together and went into the shape of a human. Kyle materialized once more and kicked the torso, making a 'clunk' sound. Ignoring the pain in his foot, he tried to get Callum's attention by waving his arms wildly. Wow, he felt stupid.

Why was there no one else but them here? Xiaoxiao had taken for granted that the message meant that someone wanted to talk to them, but that didn't appear to be the case. What the hell was going on? It was like she was in a surreal art film, nothing made sense at all. She may have looked calm on the outside, but on the inside she was just as upset as the screaming shirtless man who tried to itch off the tattoo on his arm. His reaction scared her. Was he crazy? Was she crazy? Could that be why she didn't remember anything? She must have gone insane, gotten locked up in an asylum, and was now dreaming. That must be it. The second man (were they real people or just manifestations of her imagination?) began to scratch his arm too. He had a tattoo as well, a number. Now she was really getting nervous. Why had they've been branded like that, like cattle? She could think of a number of reasons, none of them any good. Did she have a number as well? She didn't dare to roll up the sleaves of her white blouse and look, but she remembered something. A number. 88888888. That was her. Her number. Her. How could she remember that, but nothing else? Apart from her name, Yu Xiaoxiao, and her... powers... The rest was empty, no matter how hard she tried to recall previous events. There were none.

The most hysterical man made her hysterical too. For her own sake and sanity (if she had any left at all), he needed to stop. She knelt down beside him and gripped his hands.

"Please! Just calm down. Please!" Xiaoxiao said and looked at James with pleading eyes.

Mikhail remained silent as he and the rest left the train.

He doesn't remember me. Strange, for I remember him; and yet, I don't. Something doesn't seem quite right there.

What is right?

He stood in the darkness, near the edge of the group, both of his hands thrust deep into the pockets of his coat pockets. The whole place felt cold to him; either it was the weather, or it was the fact that his body was effectively made of fire, which made a normal sort of temperature seem cold to him. Still, he couldn't quite put his finger on the exact feeling.

What is feeling?

There was simply no explanation to any of it. It was like a sea breeze; blowing one side in the day, blowing another side in the night, but never staying anywhere in particular, never having any meaning.

What is meaning?

Mikhail stood at the edge of the group and scratched his stubbly chin.

He had searched his memories, and he had found one. In that back car of the train, he remembered. Some... street. Several kids were running around. A warm, happy feeling spread throughout him. A memory. He knew he had caught a memory.

However, suddenly, he heard screaming. He turned. The other man had resorted to screaming, and the woman was on her knees. The shock of it all led him to think... these people were crazy! He tried to shout, "STOP!" but all that came out was a low, menacing growl. Horrified, he looked down at his feet. But they weren't feet... there were paws.

James saw the other man, Charles, was it? He also felt his tattoos, and fell into a trance. Immediately afterwards, he turned almost into a wolf. He snarled and conjured up the staff. He prepared for combat against him.

As I checked for any nearby roads, I heard a loud "clunk" and when I turned, Kyle was waving frantically. I quickly moved over to see what he was signalling about. He was standing next to the metal. I now had a proper chance to look at the contraption. I couldn't tell what it was, but what I did see sickened me. Two legs and the lower part of a tiny body stuck out from underneath a chunk of torn metal, nestled among the dewy grasses. I gagged. It stank of rotting flesh, and I had to breath through my mouth. I reluctantly crouched down to the body. It too dark to see what the animal was, but I was disgusted. I slowly moved to grip the hunk of metal. I took a deep breath, and shifted it off the head. It was ground to a messy, bloody pulp, the stench hitting me like a train. I leapt back, choking.

"It's just s-some animal." I called out, walking back towards the train. "It's too dark to see anything of use! We might have to wait until morning."

"Gerardo Zaragoza, and you?" the hispanic stood and put his right hand forward to his interlocutor.

When George asked Zaragoza to cast his lights, a wry smile slid its way across his face, revealing his impeccably straight and white teeth. He turned to the dark, then turned his sights upward to the strings of light that lit up the cosmos. They demanded attention and allowed all to view their dazzling beauty.

Gerardo's right hand clenched. His shoulder turned like the wench of a catapult. Light broke through the space between his fingers before the cage of his fist let the light free, shooting the orbs into the air like a flare that challenged the brightness of the heavenly bodies above.

"Whoa."

That was really all that Peter could muster after watching Gerardo form a ball of light in his hand. How the hell did he do that? Was it magic? It couldn't be. There was no such thing. Could there...? He heard someone mention that they all had powers. Could that be true? And if it was... What could he, Peter Garrets, do? He hoped it was something cool, like being able to stop bullets or something.

"That's... Amazing." He remarked, as he watched the light fly into the air. He sat back down, rubbing his head.

"Looks like we won't have to wait for morning after all, huh?" I said, gazing at the blinding white light, fending off the inky darkness which had covered everything. We had a much better view of everything now, and I slowly surveyed our surroundings. It would have taken forever to figure out where we were before, but now everything was much clearer.

"We need to find a road or something." I said as I walked further out, trying to spot a road sign or even a light.

Kyle nods before following Callum. Well, actually, his entire body had then disperse into a shadowy substance and now all of the masses of shadow were following Callum. It would be a pretty scary sight for some, but Callum would probably know it was Kyle and not freak out. Though, the idea of the guy freaking out did make Kyle chuckle a small but, but they quickly silenced that chuckle, which would have come from where the shadow masses were, and then continued to follow Callum in silence.

Xiaoxiao heard a growl behind her back and turned around, startled and confused. It had sounded like an animal... but here, in the train? She must have misheard...

She hadn't. There was a wolf in front of her, where the other man had been standing mere seconds ago. She screamed and clutched James's hands tighter in panic. The large predator frightened her, but so did the realization that she had to be crazy. There were no doubts, not anymore. While she didn't remember what was normal, she was still fairly certain that this was nowhere near a normal situation.

"Get away! Get away!" she cried to the wolf, in Chinese.

James clutched her hand hard, and said " Go left. I can take him on here." His eyes glowed green, and a metal section of the train wall broke off, and f went hurling into the wolf. He gently shoved Xiaoxiao out of the way, and drew his shimmering blue staff. His eyes glowed a brighter green as he charged at the wolf.
