I suppose so. Earlier than I would have liked, but like you said, it won't really change the state of my military. I'll probably use a lot of guerrilla warfare until I get some kind of foreign aid.

I had assumed that if a monarch was to take a ward it would become known amongst the other governments rather quickly. Would the foreign ambassadors not notice the prince's presence?

I can otherwise remove it. The doomed marriage attempt will simply come because of their paranoia that she may marry a Prussian.

So a kid that in any case would not be involved in the government or something. It should be rather easy for it not to be noticed that the kid's missing in Germany.
And just being a ward he probably shouldn't be paraded in front of ambassadors.

I still really doubt that number. Given the fact that the Victoria II wiki says Sardinia-Piedmont had a population of 941,000 (which matches your number exactly) at the start of the game, it's likely that's your source. It's also not an accurate source given the fact that the pop in V2 only represents around 25% of the population.

So, please use populstat or something and tally up the population.
