When the teacher asked her the question, she looked up and nodded, forcing out another word.
"...Lavinia."

Professor Paracelsus

"An interesting choice," replied the Professor. "Most young girls choose Juliet, or Portia, or Cleopatra. You may well be a Lavinia, but let's explore more empowering archtypes."

"Anyone else?" she asked.

...no... no! It didn't work! When she asked I thought... I thought I could finally make them understand... but it didn't work...
Why?!

Why me?!

Legacy forced a smile. "Well if I don't know then I can't help now can I?"

"If you knew, you'd hate me. Everyone hates people like me."
She buried her face in her hands, images swirling through her mind, until finally they coalesced into one: a young woman, blood dripping from her mouth, trying to guide a staff along the ground, trying to write the name of the ones who had hurt her so, weeping as she tried, hindered by her lack of hands.

Lavinia.

She soon found an odd being crying in the corner, or cooing... odd. She got closer to see a human-like teenage boy. His body was a mix between some fleshy substance and stone. She couldn't help, but be curious. She felt a need to help, and console him over what his problems may be. Of course, this was actually a distinct hope to trick him into helping her. She was a little demon in her own ways. "um," she said sincerely, "are you okay? do you need help?" She hid a sinister smile.

"Who are you?" He said, staring at the girl before him. "What do you want?" Jacob didn't trust the person who approached him though he needed help. "Maybe she could prove to be a valuable ally here." He thought.
"My name is Allison," she said while crossing her arms and taking an authoritative pose, "and my only wish is for you to not be frowning!" She did a good job selling it, though it was up to "rocky" to step into the trap.

Soon, Allison heard the sound of despair. It was the sound of a bell, signifying the beginning of class. Allison held back her anger, despair, and soul-crushing violence. She had hoped to keep a perfect attendance. Now she would have to create a cockamamie excuse. Her goals required a certain rapport between her and the teacher. Faust having ignored everything I. His classes until this point, we wrapped up his own thoughts.
Or rather, his own countdown.
"Just finish home room then next class. And next class? Band. We'll be A-okay."
Faust relaxed and kicked his feet up on his desk.
"Piece of cake."

"And what am I, a sorrowful and lonely golem to you?" Jacob said, knowing too well what was going on. "All I require is assistance for navigating the school. Nothing more." In his 200 years, he was taken advantage by many people. As part golem, it was his nature to obey. He was set on revenge, never comprehending what he was doing, only obeying like a dog. "What is she getting at?" He thought as he got up, revealing his full stature to the girl in front of him. "Know this, I am a being of flesh and stone, and as such I have the pain of feeling what can't be felt and can't feeling what others feel." His eyes bored into her with an unsettling lifelessness as his dull marble and saphire eyes looked her over.

Legacy frowned. She was obviously in distress but the damage she had was quite obviously much deeper than he had thought.

If only I could stop time...

Legacy felt a bulk appear in his pants pocket.

What's this? He wondered.

He reached into his pocket and took out a pocket watch. An old wind powered pocket watch made of metal and linked with a silver chain.

Where did that come from? He thought shocked at what he found in his pocket.

It wasn't there before was it? I could've sworn that I had nothing in my pockets. But time...

He had a hunch but he wasn't sure.

Perhaps.

He took the silver chain and wrapped it around his wrist and noticed there was still chain left over.

He quickly wrapped it around the girl's wrist and pressed the button on top of it.

And silence was the response from the world.

No.
I do have a family.
But they want me to die. The angels want me to die, the demons want me to die, I'm just... broken."

Legacy frowned. "Angels? Demons?" Dots were connecting behind his eyes and the reality of it slapped him in the face.
"Wait so your dad is an Angel and your mom was a demon?" He shook his head. "If your mom and dad aren't around then why are you waiting til you turn 18?"

She shook her head, smiling quietly. "Angels and demons are related, you know. My mother was human... as for your question... it's not as if I'd be allowed to grow up alone, now would I?"

Zola

Zola felt sorry for Charlotte. The works of Shakespeare were a big part of her mother's home schooling program, so she well knew who Lavinia was. Lavinia was a model of a good girl, not perfect but to be admired in many ways. The character was sexually assaulted and her attackers cut out her tongue so that she could not name them by voice and cut off her hands so that she couldn't write their names. What an tragic character to identify with!

Zola, herself, didn't Identify with a particular Shakespeare character. She was young, like Juliet. She wanted to be wise, like Portia. She wanted to be noble, like Titania. She loved her mother, like Coriolanus. But she didn't have enough life experience. Also, too many of the female characters wound up being tricked or victimized (even in the 'happy' endings), or just dead.

No, Zola decided not to cast herself as a character. Instead she took notes and glanced unobtrusively at Charlotte when she felt that a portion of the lecture wasn't so important to record.... Poor girl. Maybe turning someone into stone could be a blessing?

If that question had been posed to Charlotte, she would most certainly have said 'yes', and wished that the girl could have turned her into stone.

Less pain.

Less pain.

Failure.
...
You're a lost cause. You can't even get yourself killed. You'll never be anything. You're worthless.
Stop! Stop it! I know it's true. Why do you torment me like this?!

She'd been so broken.

She wanted to die, at least she thought she did.

Really, all she wanted was to not be passed by. To have someone look at her and see her instead of just walking by her like she wasn't there.

For someone to hear her silent screams.

But she had given up on that.

Years of being told she was nothing, that nobody cared, had twisted her into believing that she was invisible.

So she settled for death.

Merlin

Merlin walked out of a class room, he had a tradition of visiting every class, and introducing himself to the students. He was almost done, just one class left. Professor Dominique Paracelsus' Theatre class or what ever she called it.

He looked at the class list, No use in trying to pretend to be a student.... Charlotte's in this class...

Mer... Wait, before you enter that class, I have something to tell you about that girl....

What is it?

I can sense your feelings towards her... But before you go to far, you should know something.... Something that I felt the moment you saw her.... Something that I haven't felt for a very long time...

With that Void explained what he felt. Merlin appeared to be unfazed by the news.

Good to know.... That doesn't change anything.... That does change the fact that she should live a life worth living.... And I'll help her find it Merlin thought as he opened the door to the class room.

When he entered, he stood to the side, and waited to be noticed. He didn't want to interrupt them if they were doing something.

Charlotte noticed.
It was a little hard not to.
After all, Merlin was... well, Merlin.
But what was he doing there?
She didn't understand...
Not unusual.

You could put that on a shirt.

...I still don't understand.

And there's the other side of the shirt.

You know, it's quite ironic really.

You're just a human.

I carry the blood of the Fallen in my veins.

And yet...

"well if you need directions just follow me," she said, "I already took the time to memorize the map of the school, back and forth!" It took her 3 days nonstop to do this. She spent too much time staring at a map until it was burnt into her psyche.

At this moment the man of rock stood up.

She hustles back as he stands up and reveals his whole form to her. She had not seen something like him, but it was obvious she would see others more intriguing in looks. He wasn't her type, but many people at this school might get a kick out of his impressive, behemoth-like strength. She then readjusted her glasses, and maintained her composure. The light gleamed in the lenses, half concealing her eyes. "I have never met someone like you," she wondered out loud, "but I don't think you should assume that you are alone. This is a school of people who get left alone, by everyone else. We've all bonded over that."

She then turned to a certain angle and pointed forwards. She began walking with a certain militant sergeant's composure, as if leading soldiers in a march. "this way."

Jacob followed, but he was apprehensive of his new acquaintance. "Já jí nevěřím , ale já ji potřebuji." He said under his breath. "I take it you are new here as well?" Jacob asked his new companion, hoping to gain insight into her end goal. "I also take it you have lived here a long time?"
Allison continued marching on, noting him muttering in some foreign language. She hadn't heard it before, so this at least peaked her interest. He followed this with a bit of small talk, both unimportant and rather meaningless banter. Of course, meaningless banter is one of the best ways to break down such high stone walls.

She marched forward while perking her head to the side. She had him in one of his eyes. She then said, "Yes; and no, to both of your questions. I just got here, yes, but I never quite figured out my powers until roughly a year ago. It was easy to hide, but all good things come to an end. Now I've gotten the glorious opportunity to be a part of the Outcast Society, also known as the people who are left alone by society." She then continued marching on.

"so what's your story?"

"it's just at the end of the hallway," she consoled, "don't worry, hipster, its the first day, I don't see us getting yelled at too hard for being late."

She wheeled into class, noticing the headmaster looking in as well. In the back of her mind, she felt a sense of dread. Ruining her reputation in front of the headmaster would end all of her chances. The ideal of being class president, self-appointed, would be ruined! Of course, she still had to make an excuse. She bowed her head pleadingly, and said, "I am so sorry, teacher," she exclaimed, "we couldn't find our way and got lost very quickly! It took me a while to finally figure out where we were. so sorry." She continued to say "I'm so sorry," each time hitting a repeatable set of syllables as she repeatedly bowed her head again, again, again, and again.
