The so called Lividivus Crusade is in peril. Ten years of war over dozens of worlds against various enemies has taken it's toll on the Imperial Guard. It all started when General Arktheleon Lividivus of Cadia had lead a handful of regiments to a system under siege by traitors. With battle-hardened troops and competent commanders the system was swiftly secured, and on the coat tails of such an 'easy' liberation, the local Ecclesiarchy had called it a Crusade and forced Lividivus forward into more “liberation's” against solidly alien worlds, while they would gather whatever support they could to fuel the advance. Wishing to spare his forces and himself from the alternative of refusing to undertake a Holy Crusade, Lividivus had pushed forward. Each new world, each year adding on more enemies, more problems, that not even the Imperial Guard could fully overcome. Victory was still possible however. Until the Orks came.
Spurred on by the stories of the fighting the Orks had finally massed and flocked to the Crusade sub-sector. They barreled into the stretched ranks of the Crusade, the straw that broke the back of the Guard, as it were. That was three years ago, and since then much progress, and many lives, have been lost with the Guard engaged in a cruel and brutal fighting retreat across several worlds. Now the fight has come to New Sedna, the forward hub that had fueled the Crusade for the past seven years. It was a booming planet of industry, at least now that it was Guard territory. Mildly populated, various forms of terrain situated on one main continent with several large island chains, it was a nice planet all told. And it is the planet where General Lividivus has dug in. The Guard will break the back of the Ork Waaaagh on New Sedna, or they'll die there. The fighting is already fierce, the Orks have their foothold on the planet and plenty of troops to throw at the defenders, though their fleet has been shattered in a costly engagement with the Imperial Navy.
Though even as the battle rages for New Sedna against the greenskins, the familiar, horrid voices of Chaos have crept into the Crusade, and there is now a rotting, festering plague gripping the beleaguered Guard. The effect has, so far, been minimal. Only a few below-strength Regiments have gone rouge, and the Inquisition is already on the scene trying to root out the sickness.
But as grand as the events may seem, it is all rather routine when In Service to the Imperium.

In reserve or deployed? (Basically if you want to start as sitting around and waiting to be sent to fight, or if you want to start in the thick of it. This is an option because I know some people lose interest in the generally long build ups before we get into actual combat. So if you want to have that build up, maybe enter into some military politics for a bit, choose to start out in reserve. If deployed you'll start out in the thick of it.)
*Side note* Most regimental commanders would probably know each other, at least by name, from the various briefings that have been held at command levels. I'll leave it up to the players to decide how much they want their commanders to know each other and such.

---Map of New Sedna---
**Credit to Legital for the map**
--This map is of the main theater of war for the planet New Sedna. A small and brief legend is located on the actual map itself for quick location identification. The red lines between controlled territory is the general "frontline" between two forces. These are not necessarily static positions, as combat can be faster or slower depending on the combat zone. The climate in the north is fairly cold and forested, while the middle regions is temperate with a wide range of forested land and plains. Many coastal regions are covered in marshlands and the south is generally warm and hot year round.
