In Service to the Imperium; Episode 7 WH40K-OOC/Waitinglist

Postby Segmentia » Sat Aug 22, 2015 2:14 pm

Welcome to In Service to the Imperium, the rp series where you command a unit of cannon fodder in the miserable universe of Warhammer 40K. This installment will be much the same, but also different from the others as well. For starters you will be in command of a regiment, however battered it may be, rather then a company thrown into a Fold Regiment. I plan on having a random objectives system, as well as a rewards system for completing those objectives. The general status of events is below.

The so called Lividivus Crusade is in peril. Ten years of war over dozens of worlds against various enemies has taken it's toll on the Imperial Guard. It all started when General Arktheleon Lividivus of Cadia had lead a handful of regiments to a system under siege by traitors. With battle-hardened troops and competent commanders the system was swiftly secured, and on the coat tails of such an 'easy' liberation, the local Ecclesiarchy had called it a Crusade and forced Lividivus forward into more “liberation's” against solidly alien worlds, while they would gather whatever support they could to fuel the advance. Wishing to spare his forces and himself from the alternative of refusing to undertake a Holy Crusade, Lividivus had pushed forward. Each new world, each year adding on more enemies, more problems, that not even the Imperial Guard could fully overcome. Victory was still possible however. Until the Orks came.

Spurred on by the stories of the fighting the Orks had finally massed and flocked to the Crusade sub-sector. They barreled into the stretched ranks of the Crusade, the straw that broke the back of the Guard, as it were. That was three years ago, and since then much progress, and many lives, have been lost with the Guard engaged in a cruel and brutal fighting retreat across several worlds. Now the fight has come to New Sedna, the forward hub that had fueled the Crusade for the past seven years. It was a booming planet of industry, at least now that it was Guard territory. Mildly populated, various forms of terrain situated on one main continent with several large island chains, it was a nice planet all told. And it is the planet where General Lividivus has dug in. The Guard will break the back of the Ork Waaaagh on New Sedna, or they'll die there. The fighting is already fierce, the Orks have their foothold on the planet and plenty of troops to throw at the defenders, though their fleet has been shattered in a costly engagement with the Imperial Navy.

Though even as the battle rages for New Sedna against the greenskins, the familiar, horrid voices of Chaos have crept into the Crusade, and there is now a rotting, festering plague gripping the beleaguered Guard. The effect has, so far, been minimal. Only a few below-strength Regiments have gone rouge, and the Inquisition is already on the scene trying to root out the sickness.

But as grand as the events may seem, it is all rather routine when In Service to the Imperium.

In reserve or deployed? (Basically if you want to start as sitting around and waiting to be sent to fight, or if you want to start in the thick of it. This is an option because I know some people lose interest in the generally long build ups before we get into actual combat. So if you want to have that build up, maybe enter into some military politics for a bit, choose to start out in reserve. If deployed you'll start out in the thick of it.)

*Side note* Most regimental commanders would probably know each other, at least by name, from the various briefings that have been held at command levels. I'll leave it up to the players to decide how much they want their commanders to know each other and such.

--This map is of the main theater of war for the planet New Sedna. A small and brief legend is located on the actual map itself for quick location identification. The red lines between controlled territory is the general "frontline" between two forces. These are not necessarily static positions, as combat can be faster or slower depending on the combat zone. The climate in the north is fairly cold and forested, while the middle regions is temperate with a wide range of forested land and plains. Many coastal regions are covered in marshlands and the south is generally warm and hot year round.

Regimental application

Regiment name: Higaran 52nd Infantry
Home world: Higara (Hi-gar-ah)
Type of Regiment: Infantry
Commanding Officer: Colonel Oskar Faust
Number of Guardsmen: Total: Roughly 3,180 total personnel within the regiment. About 2,880 are combat Guardsmen while around 300 are non-Guard non-combatants who make up the small baggage train that follows the regiment and is made up of various craftsmen and individuals who attend to the regiment's needs. The general force breakdown is as follows:

8 Men per squad (1 Sergeant, 1 Corporal, 1 Specialist, 5 Riflemen)
6 Squads per platoon (48 men) (1 command squad, 1 support squad, 4 combat squads)
6 Platoons per company (288 men) (1 command platoon, 1 support platoon, 4 combat platoons)
10 Companies within regiment (2,880 men) (8 Line Companies, 1 command, 1 support)

About 300 non-guard, non-combatant personnel.

First "A" Company - Command Company, pertaining numerous command personnel along with basic combat troops.
Second "B" Company - Line Company
Third "C" Company - Line Company
Fourth "D" Company - Line Company
Fifth "E" Company - Line Company
Sixth "F" Company - Line Company
Seventh "G" Company - Heavy Mortar Battery
Eighth "H" Company - Heavy Mortar Battery
Ninth "I" Company - Line Company Reserve
Quartermaster Section - Munitorum, Signal, and Medicae support company

Support (Weapons, vehicles, etc):

4 men crew a single heavy mortar and utilize a centaur as transport.
3 Mortars per platoon (3 mortars, 4 centaurs = 12 gunners, 1 sergeant, 1 signalman, 4 observers, 18 total men)
3 Platoons per section (9 mortars, 10 centaurs, 1 salamander scout = 36 gunners, 1 officer, 1 adjutant, 2 signalmen, 4 observers, 44 total men)
2 Sections per battery (18 mortars, 20 centaurs, 2 salamander scout, 1 salamander command = 72 gunners, 2 officers, 2 adjutants, 4 signalmen, 6 observers, 86 total men)

As there are two batteries, there is a total of 36 heavy mortars, 4 salamander scouts, 2 salamander command 40 centaurs allocated between two companies.

12 Chimeras for use by command and medicae personnel
6 Misc. Salamander Scouts
About 150 light/medium trucks to ferry troops and equipment around to and from various locations

Numerous and evenly distributed light mortars, heavy bolters, heavy stubbers, flamers, lascannons, and rocket launchers are assigned among the guard units. Light Mortars, flamers, and rocket launchers are the most numerous. (Might come back later to do the exact math)

Uniforms: A Higaran Guardsmen in his uniform. Note his flak armor chest piece is removed for uniform view. Flak armor is colored a light grey.
Miscellaneous info: The people of Higara are richly cultured, and this can best be seen by a few noticeable aspects of Higaran Guardsmen. Men who can grow facial hair are expected to, with the vast majority of men sporting waxed handle-bar like mustaches. The uniform and helmet of the guardsmen have not changed in over a millennium (with some minor alterations), and is somewhat archaic in nature compared to modern Imperial Guard uniforms, such as the Cadian pattern. Higarans, especially guardsmen, are very fond of music and almost every platoon has a voxograph to play music for the enjoyment of the unit. As instruments are more cumbersome and require dedicated care when moved around often, listening to music is much more common than playing music. As a display of prestige and class, many officers have their own voxographs of various make and design. The grander the device is, the higher the officer is in standing.

How long has the regiment been with the Crusade? Three, almost four years. Other Higaran regiments in the system theater have served longer.

-Regimental Commander info-

Name: Oskar Schultz Faust
Age: 54
Gender: Male
Rank: Colonel
Background: Oskar Faust enrolled into an Imperial Guard Officers Academy at the young age of thirteen, thanks to his status as a member of a relatively well-off family from the capital of Higara. His commission was purchased the first year he attended the academy, where he was taught thoroughly about becoming an officer and a guardsmen. The academy, as it recruited young, also functioned as an educational institution, allowing its members to be taught in various other fields of study such as mathematics, literature, music, and history. For five years, Oskar was shaped into the perfect model of a civilized gentleman and officer. At the age of 18, he was formally inducted into the Imperial Guard and entered as a first lieutenant, serving as an adjutant to an infantry captain in the field.

Oskar was not a natural born leader. He was well educated and was an able strategist and tactician, but was not able to rouse men to follow him and fight as he wasn't often at the front. He lacked respect from the common guard as his main function served almost solely to other officers. From the earliest sections of his service records, he received several notable commendations as an adviser and adjutant, but nothing in terms of leadership. As such, for most of his early career, he was kept at the side of many officers who preferred his calculations over his combat ability.

However, at the age of twenty-four, Oskar Faust found himself at what he believed to be the end of his assigned regiment and life. On the planet of Jovian-V, Orks had surrounded and cut off the main Imperial assault which Oskar was apart of. In just less than a month, a combined infantry and armored push was broken as tens of thousands of men were killed in such a short amount of time. The attack floundered and turned into a stagnant route.

Captain Heinrich Klein, who Oskar served under, was killed during a particularly brutal clash between Ork raiders and retreating guardsmen. This left Oskar as the ranking commander of an entire company, or rather, what was left of it. Initially, only the combination of duty and a commissar kept the men following the young unpopular officer, but after he managed to save the company from what appeared to be certain defeat on several occasions, men began to believe in him. If Oskar could keep them alive and winning, what else did they need?

His popularity grew over the months as reinforcements poured in to renew the Imperial offensive on Jovian-V. On top of being a young upstart, Oskar benefited as the entire Guard offensive began pushing the Orks back, allowing the low moral of the troops to replenish. At the end of a brutal two year campaign, Oskar Faust was promoted to the rank of captain and became the commander of his company.

Over the next two and a half decades, Oskar Faust evolved to become a well respected officer by his fellow peers, subordinates, and superiors. His combat capabilities aside, he was a decidedly solid officer, who had an emerging possibility of joining the general staff. Yet, having served so long as a field officer, he was never offered a position on any higher command staff, and he instead found himself a colonel in command of a regiment, the 52nd Infantry.

Physical description: Oskar Faust does not cut an intimidating figure. He stands at five feet, nine inches and looks every bit an academic rather than a soldier. He has the trademark Higaran facial features such as high cheekbones and a general gaunt look about his face. His hair, once dark black, has now grown lighter in his years, but he keeps it short and combed back. Like nearly all Higaran men, he maintains a well groomed handlebar like mustache that is waxed along the ends. His shoulders aren't particularly broad, and he doesn't have much in terms of raw strength. His talents lay simply behind his calm and inquisitive blue eyes, which are framed in small and circular black glasses.

In reserve or deployed: Deployed. The black box near #7 indicates the Higaran combat zone. The arrow indicates the intended direction of attack. (Seg is offline when I posted this so this map is the new one, which I already sent to Seg to add when she can)

Morrdh

Morrdh is a frontier world in the Koronus Expanse and was discovered by Sebastian Winterscale very early in his career. A lost world of man, it was covered in extensive ruins of abandoned settlements and a scattering of bastions where the natives still lived. The native population were examined and found wholesome despite their long separation from the light of the Emperor, but for reasons unknown colonists were brought from the Greater Imperium to resettle Morrdh. Natives who were slow to abandon their old beliefs and practices were pushed to the fringes, and even today those with Native blood are viewed with some suspicion.

The tantalising prospect of Archeotech brought representatives of the Adeptus Mechanicus to Morrdh, while the prospect of conversion brought representatives of the Ecclesiarchy. Colonists sought to rule themselves alone, while Winterscale wished to exploit the mysterious bounties of the world for himself and his burgeoning dynasty. Fractious squabbling between these factions brought down the wrath of the Inquisition, who brokered a settlement – Morrdh and its people would be led by a council representing each faction, a council headed by a leader chosen from the ranks of the new settlers.

Her Serenity Queen Lothwyn XIV is the current monarch of Morrdh and planetary governor, ruling from the capital city of Morrdun. Beneath her, a Magos Explorator, an Ecclesiarchical official and a memeber of the Winterscale sit as advisers. Each has their own agenda, and each not-so secretly longs to rule alone. Were it not for the obsidian tower of the Inquisitorial manse casting long shadows over the capital it is very likely that one would have made their move by now. For now, they are content to plot and intrigue and to quietly indulge in smuggling ancient artefacts off-world.

Recently, Queen Lothwyn has pushed for her world to become a Garrison world. Her reasons for doing so are unclear, as it would entail far higher tithes and far more Imperial oversight. Some suspect that she hopes to force a confrontation between the other factions, a confrontation she clearly believes will end successfully for her. Others believe that she knows of some dark threat looming on the horizon. Those allied to Rogue Traders fear that it is the first step towards Imperial annexation of what they see as their rightful domain.

Despite the intrigue ridden politics, Morrdh frequently sees treasure hunters sent by Imperial nobles to seek the relics found in the ruins that dot the planet’s surface...

Morridane Outriders

Man is far from being the first inhabitants of Morrdh, ancient records state that not long after the planet was first colonized that contact was reported with a beastial race of creatures simply called 'Wulvers'. These creatures were reported as being similar to wolves of Ancient Terra, though much larger in size. Over the centuries there has been a state of nearless endless conflict between the Morridanes and the Wulvers, attested by the countless ruins that dot the planet's surface. A specialist military unit known as the Outriders was eventually formed to deal with the Wulvers, a unit that has been maintained and gained specialization in long range reconnaissance.

Today the Outriders forms the core of the Morrdh PDF, its recruits are those those that cannot live on the miserable payments of the trapping clans or who earn the wrath of one of the criminal gangs. The men and women of the Outriders have the thankless task of delving deep into the wilderness that forms the surface of Morrdh, often for weeks or months at a time, to keep the Wulvers in check and to deter off-world gangs from using Morrdh for nefarious purposes. Outriders must learn a certain degree of self-sufficiency, as Wulvers and other hazards can easily prevent the delivery of much-needed supplies. Those tithed to the Imperial Guard often ply these skills on the battlefield, making the best of available resources and finding creative uses for common equipment.

Special Equipment: Morridane Pattern Autorifle:- Rather than use the Imperial Guard's standard lasgun, the Outriders use an Autorifle thats native to their homeworld. Called the SLR by the Morridanes, the Autorifle is a semi-automatic rifle with a 20 round magazine and a flash suppressor on the end of the barrel. It can be fired with iron sights or with a special inverted scope designed with quick targeting in mind, it mounts standard Imperial bayonets.

How long has the regiment been with the Crusade? Two years plus.

-Regimental Commander info-

Name: Artemis Stormwell
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Rank: Major
Background: Like many who join the Outriders back on Morrdh, Artemis Stormwell had very little choice and managed to enlist before his former mates in a street gang he was with, for much of his childhood and early teens, caught up with him. His rebellious streak often got him into trouble during his basic training, but gradually overtime this trait was subdued. Over the decade that followed Artemis worked his way up through the ranks, first to Corporal and then Sergeant by the time the once a generation Imperial Tithe came around. It was his commanding officer in the Morrdh PDF who recommended him for an officer's commission, something that the Departmento Munitorum took under consideration and then approved for Artemis to be commissioned as a Lieutenant in the 319th Outrider Regiment.

Physical description: Average build, standing around 5'7" with dark hair and grey eyes. looks a little like this.

In reserve or deployed? Deployed, probably gathering Intel deep in enemy territory.

Wanderjar wrote:Regimental application

Regiment name: 251st Wanderjarian Fusiliers
Home world: Wanderjar
Type of Regiment: Mechanized Infantry (uniform similar to that of the Mordian Iron Guard, though Orange instead of blue tunics with white pants)
Commanding Officer: Colonel Michael Blair
Number of Guardsmen: 2,241
Support (Weapons, vehicles, etc):
-Chimera transports (121)
-Leman Russ Battle Tanks (16)
-Griffon Mortar Close-in-Fire Support vehicles (9)
-Basilisk Medium Artillery vehicles (6)
Uniforms: http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/war ... 0510073030
Miscellaneous info: Wanderjar is an agri-world notable for large, sprawling plantations, providing food for the Imperium. The majority of the rank and file are either drawn from ranch hands and farm workers, and the officer corps is derived from the sons of the nobility and wealthy planter classes. Commissions are quite expensive to purchase, and attendance at the Wanderjarian Imperial War Academy is an achievement which brings enormous prestige to a Wanderjarian household.
How long has the regiment been with the Crusade? recently deployed in theater as a newly raised regiment from Wanderjar.

-Regimental Commander info-

Name: Michael Blair
Age: 57
Gender: Male
Rank: Colonel
Background: A graduate of the Wanderjarian Imperial War Academy, as are all officers of the Wanderjarian guard regiments, Colonel Blair has served in the guard since he was a nineteen year old subaltern. A veteran of numerous campaigns across the Imperium, he has been impeded in his rise to Colonelcy due to his family's financial difficulties, a fact which has plagued him his entire career. Purchasing a rank advancement has placed enormous strain on him and he is frequently scoffed at by his peers as being of inferior birth. This fact creates in him a drive to succeed at all costs, regardless of the toll it takes in the lives of his men, to prove himself an able commander.
Physical description: Most males of Wanderjar tend to be well built people, given their life of hard labour. Life in the Imperial Guard provides a similar physicality, and even though Colonel Blair is 'above' such activities as physical fitness exercises, he still partakes out of the need to be able to lead and perform to gain glory for himself, and prove himself. As a result, he is well toned and muscular, with a shaven head and rough features. A notable feature is the lack of scarring of his face, leaving him an attractive man despite his hard living.

In reserve, awaiting deployment to the front. (I prefer to build my characters, so I won't be bored with this.)

- 2500 riflemen and their squad commanders
- 900 assault troops and their squad commanders
- 250 commanders and staff
- 1500 chimera crews (includes mechanics)
- 100 hellhound/sentinel crews (includes mechanics)

- - - assault squads x3

- - sentinel command x1
- - - sentinel squadron x3
Support: 500 chimera transports; 20 hellhound support tanks; 10 scout sentinels; the only weapons which are of a higher grade than the lasguns would be the demolition charges and flamers of the assault squads, their primary purpose being that of the shock vanguard, tearing out the heart of the enemy before the rest of the regimental tsunami hit them.
Uniforms: here
Miscellaneous info: Limited heavy weaponry due to the focus on rapid assaults and deployments. They come from a largely mountainous planet, complete with vast oceans and island chains which linked the various continents together. Following their liberation, the indigenous people were divided through the use of a caste system in order to maintain stability following the removal of the feudal and tribal hierarchies which led the resistance to the Imperial invaders. As such, every man knows his place.
On Ergyll-3, there are a few peoples who have a military tradition, extending back centuries of constant warfare and infighting, resulting in military cultures. It is from these peoples that the majority of the planet's off-world regiments draw their strength. Despite being designated as forming from the central plains of Flendria, most of the men were raised from the northern territories of Coroban. As such, they have been nicknamed "Ice Bears" after the native apex predators.
How long has the regiment been with the Crusade? One month, having been redeployed following a lengthy peace-keeping deployment on their homeworld following administrative error which resulted in them being declared destroyed and a replacement regiment called up.

-Regimental Commander info-

Name: Titus Kasmides
Age: 61
Gender: Male
Rank: Commissar-Colonel
Background: -Titus was born in to the wealthy and power House Kasmides of Mideian, of the planet Dalmar. They were a family of dedicated servants to the Imperium, with all of his older relatives and siblings being members or former members of various branches of the military. For the first few years of his life, he was brought up to become a warrior. However, when Dalmar was invaded by the Tau, Titus lost what family lived on the planet. When the Tau were eventually driven back, Titus found himself being given over to the Schola Progenium. He was one of two thousand newly-made orphans to be granted this honour, although only he had lost the number of family that he had.
-The years in training made Titus grow in such ways that he never could had he been brought up to join the Guard. He learned devotion to the Emperor which no one could rival in righteous faith. He learned to let go of any empathy he had with those who buckled under the pressures imposed on them. Such was his ability, Titus was barely eighteen when he was first selected for frontline service. However he was later transfered to a training squad instead.
-His first deployment was with a Valhallan artillery regiment, which was an all-female regiment, his deployment being one of lack of other candidates. They were not only severely understrength and running out of supplies, but also lacking in faith and determination after many months of stalemate with the rebel forces they were fighting. This proved to be their undoing, as Titus began to discipline the women the only way he knew worked. First the officers were purged, with Colonel Espara having to watch as a man half her age sentenced half of her company commanders to death.
-His discipline became stricter and stricter, with more and more infractions being dealt with harshly. By the time the regiment was offered to withdraw for much-needed recouperation, they had lost a hundred soldiers to summary execution.
-While the regiment was resting, Titus met with the General Staff, informing whoever would listen of the lack of his regiment's enthusiasm towards the war. This was quickly retold to General Albus, who granted the young Commissar the authority to use his own personal guard to reinforce the invaluable regiment which was responsible for supporting the defensive line with devestating artillery fire.
-Once they returned to the frontline, Titus used the hundred men placed under his command to patrol the regiment, eavesdropping on every conversation and overseeing all the work being done. This initially saw the regiment performing better, but then several of the General's men raped one of the Valhallans. Disgusted by the conduct of the men, Titus immediately had those responsible executed, along with the officers. He then personally saw to the recovery of the victim, something which conflicted many in the regiment.
-Upon hearing of the rape and executions, Albus, either amazed by the Commissar's ruthlessness or stupidity at risking the wrath of the general, invited Titus to join the General Staff. It was accepted, and Titus eventually served five years there.
-By the time of the Y'aan campaign, Titus had become known as a ruthless disciplinarian, whose specially-selected squad of soldiers, one taken from each regiment of the General's Corps, was the envy of every man who wished to gain fame and glory.
-Having found his calling as being the figurehead of any assault, Titus was granted temporary assignment to the 127th Jordon Equestians, taking command while the Colonel and Major were hospitalised. He is recorded having claimed that the Equestrians were the finest men he had ever served with, after seeing entire platoons throwing themselves in to the path of the Tau infantry to draw attention away from other units.
-Such was his respect for the airborne regiment that Titus put himself forward as the regimental commissar, should the one currently in place die.
-His wish came a year after Y'aan, although not in the same way as he expected. He did become regimental commissar once more - although that position was short-lived - but it was not of the Equestrians. Instead, he found himself attached to the Ice Bears, and shortly after instilling his sense of discipline on to the regiment, in command of it in its entirety.

2 towed mechanicus workshops (10 lay mechanics, 8 enginseers)
1 towed vox/auspex trailer (12 vox/auspex operators)

infantry section
45 medium infantry squads (2 flamers, 1 grenade launcher, 2-3 shotguns, flak armour with carapace elements)
6 heavy weapon squads,( 1 bolter with tripod, 1 missile launcher, 2 flamers, 2 shotguns, flak armour)
6 heavy infantry squads (2 meltas , 1 flamer, 2 shotguns, 5 hellguns, carapace armour)
4 heavy infantry squads (3 eviscerators, 2 shotguns, 5 hellguns, carapace armour)

Armor and vehicle heavy regiments will have most detail here. Be reasonable on support weapons.

Uniforms: (Image)in combat most of the knives will be left in the squad chimera, and flak and/or carapace will be worn grudgingly, as it hides the scars.
official dress uniform does not have a shirt either, as every scar and weapon is carried with pride. officers go one further, replacing most of the knives in the image with swords accumulated over their campaigns, usually one after each planet conquered.
in colder climates a greatcoat is often incorporated, light flakweave but otherwise unremarkable.

Miscellaneous info: hailing from one of the younger hive worlds of the imperium, bront was one of the last planets settled in the angevin crusade, with the 33th army group given right of settlement on the planet. it was the last army group to be disbanded, and contained many veteran units. this instilled into the new, industrial colony a strong sense of discipline and honour, as each regiment formed the core of a clan. within a 1000 years of settlement the planet was classed a hive world, and the clans were engaging in the usual competition about land and resources as create the backbone of many hive-born regiments.
On Bront, however, these disputes are almost always settled in ritual mass combat, with knives and swords being held above all other weapons, and the traditions of discipline and obedience of the original regiments are still held high.
The penchant for using swords and knives to settle inter-clan rivalries is also the reason for their peculiar dress uniform, as each scar is seen as holding a story of victory or defeat, and often the two are treated as the same honour. Any scars on the back though, are seen as unacceptable, either from the bite of a lash as a criminal or taken when fleeing from an opponent.

because of their aptitude and preference for close combat, most brontians would not consider an armoured regiment to be their choice, but numerous of the brontian armoured regiments have gained high honour, favouring demolishers and short-range weaponry like meltas they are at their best at the heart of the fighting, making daring charges before smashing apart enemy formations and fortifications with the heavy weaponry available. This did not go unnoticed.
After much debate amongst the upper echelons of the brontian PDF it was decided that the next tithe would contain 20 hybrid regiments in an attempt to increase the already formidable performance of the seperated armour and infantry. In this way, it was hoped, the infantry would have the backing of assault and breakthrough tanks who knew exactly what they would do, were matched with in aggression and who would not feel unusual about seeing officers decorated with as many swords as would fit on their belt and backs.
At it's creation the regiment, as is traditional, was drawn with units from as many clans as possible, and as such represented the planet as a whole, instead of any particular faction on it. however the long wars has by now eroded all such differences, and though ocasionally one of them might use an unfamiliar term or dialect the battles have created a shared bond beyond any former differences. The only external element, their commissar, was lost about a year ago, and though the munitorum did send word that a replacement was being sent they have neither heard nor seen of him since.
How long has the regiment been with the Crusade?
The 15th is relatively new to the crusade, though elements of them have been fighting for decades in other battlefields. they were originally scheduled to arrive 3 years ago to reinforce the sagging battle lines before the true extent of the ork host was known, but their transport was blown of course in the warp and arrived 6 months late to the staging area.
this was a fortuitous coincidence, as a scouting party of orks has arrived and was already assaulting the land bases, any regiments were welcome. since then they've had little rest, moving from battlefield to battlefield as the crusade retreated.

-Regimental Commander info-
Name:Kaido Jamesson
Age:39
Gender:male
Rank: Colonel
Background:
He has been with the 15th since it's creation, being transferred over as a gunner for one of the thunderers in use in the regiment. Having joined the PDF young he had few scars from his worlds frequent combat on joining the regiment, and amongst the few veterans who still remember him from that time his old nickname of 'babyskin' is only mentioned as a joke.
During the first battles he quickly became marked for possible promotion, working his way up to commanding coreward platoon's unit of thunderers. As his responsibilities grew, so too did his reputation of leading by the front, and most of his scars stem from this tendency. After a particularly vicious battle against an insurrection on a remote industrial world he became the first non-infantry platoon commander amongst the brontian hybrid regiments when his platoon lost it's entire command element and most of the infantry. He still bares a particular scar of that conflict with pride, to the point of rolling up his sleeves when social protocol demands he wears one as a colonel, a discoloured groove running along his left forearm where a lascannon shot penetrated the front of his vehicle and grazed his arm.
Physical description:
Scarred and decorated, Kaido is around 6 foot tall and almost always stands upright in such a way as to seem a little taller. most striking at first glance are a pair of perfectly straight scars, sloping outwards above his eyes, as these are one of the few scars he bears from his homeworld's ritual combat they appear neat, far more so then the often crooked and irregular scars obtained in over a decade of war.
when in dress uniform he resembles nothing so much as a walking armoury or weapon exibition (blade design across the sector), with nearly two dozen blades along his belt and back, and while most of these are well-made but ordinary imperial designs commissioned after campaigns, two take special precedence. The first is an ork blade, itself a looted chainsword at first glance, which fairly solid regimental rumours claim he took from an ork mekboy who had the dare to challenge him to a duel on top of Kaido's malcador in the midst of a battle (details vary). The second blade is a inactive eldar power sword, which was found embedded in the armour of the malcador during the last deployment before being called to the crusade, again details vary, but the commonly agreed idea holds that it was propelled from it's owners hand into the armour by a demolisher shell going on in the midst of an eldar vehicle too damaged by lighter fire to evade. The blade has the signature elegant curves of it's alien race, but is entirely inactive, either damaged beyond working or it's power cell has run dry if they ever do with eldar.

Co-OP checking in. I'm working on a map for a general idea of the main combat theater, as well as a possible global map. I'm not really a great cartographer, but I'll see what I can do.

Oorah. Roughly what size are we saying the average IG Regiment is for the purposes of this RP?

I'd say between 1,000 to 5,000 Guardsmen, with regiments of smaller size being armored/artillery/other support, and the larger ones being the infantry regiments.

hrmm.cool map. wonder what battlefield we'll be most active on? asuming we're active on the same frontline of course.

I will be fighting near #6 on the map. I'll make a little edit to my application and add a small box to show my combat zone on the map. My app will probably be up sometime tonight.

Also, I think once we have a lot of players, I'll probably make a larger edited version of the map displaying the combat zones of each player.

Check the right hand side of the map, where the writing is. Dots are cities/major locations, and the colors represent territory controlled by certain factions.

Thanks. My IPad acts odd around images and doesn't let me see the far right of them.

Not a problem. The map will definitely be edited later, so I might try and make it a little more neater if possible. There are already a couple errors and things that are missing that I need to add.

For instance, you forgot to include .1 in the map's legend.

Actually, its there, but invisible. It got pushed up when I extended the text box to write all that. Or so I like to believe. Otherwise, I might be loosing my mind as I can remember writing that #1 was Polonious (City).

No, I'm looking on my computer now and it's definitely not there. It may have been present in one of your drafts, but it isn't anymore. Or at least, Seg might've missed it.

Yeah, I think I might have phrased my other post a little odd. It isn't there for me either, but I meant that I'm pretty sure I did write it, and it got pushed out of view in the text box when I extended it. So no one can see it, but technically its still in the text box, just hidden out of view.

maybe under the text stating what planet we're on?
also updated my app with a very rough outline of what I'm thinking of going with right now.
Curious and industrious, PMT sharks in an FT setting.
factbook is WiP. but a basic overview of our species is below:
population (remaining, estimated) 6000
State religion: not enforced but every member of the species follows the Cult of Pas Mathéma in some fashion.
Goverment type: Council of 5 heading a technocratic fuedalist society
Govermental sovereignty: protectorate of the 44th independant legion; large independant but ceding to them for interstellar politics and trade
Military power: on an FT schale next to nothing, since our total number of starships is for now 0.

Carch, friendly anthro blue shark. got any kalamari?
... Am I the only sane scientist out here? Even if I'm Cult Mechanicus, I still count as sane given the rest of you...
